The Attic

An iconic neighborhood pub with great service, cold drinks and tasty bar fare. I especially like sitting on the outdoor patio on a beautiful day. The patio tables have individual umbrellas and the tree line street down to the water of Lake Washington is beautiful.

I love this place. It’s exactly the vibe I was looking for to meet a friend and be able to talk. Great HH food and delicious, scratch margaritas. Cool vibe. I’m definitely a fan.

I love this place! The food is good, variety of seating and can handle big groups. There are a bunch of regulars that come here and the staff usually knows their names.

Well, the got my order wrong. The waitress never came and checked on us after delivering the food. It took a while for the food to come out once we ordered. Otherwise I'd say it's a pretty average place. I'll not return, there are too many eateries in the area to try out where, one would thing, the food and service is better.

They are friendly, attentive, and always make me feel like a regular. I live in Madison Park and make it to the Attic frequently, especially on Thursdays. I'm scared to say how great DJ Friday and Ella are at karaoke in fear the crowd will grow, but currently it's our favorite place to go sing some songs, have drinks, and always food. I've even tried brunch here and it was great! Breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, egg Benedict, salads all good. We're so glad The Attic is back to being a perfect place to grab a bite with friends, watch a game, sing karaoke, and have celebratory drinks after an event.

Neighborhood pub with good food and friendly servers. I come here every so often to watch a ballgame. Often enough that I've become a "Mug Club Member," which entitles me to a special mug, discount pours, and envious looks from second-class bar patrons. The food is usually good, but can vary in quality from night to night. It's a good place if you're social - You're guaranteed to strike up good conversation with the regulars. My only complaint is that it tends to clear out pretty early. Even on the weekends, if I arrive after 10pm its usually desolate. But that's more a Madison Park problem than a The Attic problem.

First time here and I was very pleased with my lunch! Had the fish and chips and the the French dip sandwich. The food was pretty good for bar food but it was a bit bland for the prices. However the server lady was outstanding and would stop in again if in the area.

I thought i already reviewed this place but whatever. The big change is that Ethan towel has taken over the place so while prices are higher the food quality is waaaay better. The service has an also gone from incredibly cranky to kindness. The good news is the ambiance is still there (and it's cleaner too!). The happy hour process after not bad and what's on tap is great. This has become my favorite local hangout when it's a quick meeting. Plus with non alcoholic beers you have many more options. The steaks are nice now as are the chicken n wings!

Last time I went in I sat at the bar to drink a beer before an appointment. Bartender addressed me as I was walking out after about a 20 minute wait to get served. It used to be great. I'd go there almost every weekend for brunch. Then they changed the breakfast sandwich. It was fantastic. It's now inedible. Not sure when I'll ever be back. (I've heard they've also made it 'all ages' which was one of it's advantages over McGilvra's down the street. No more I suppose.)

Stopped here with a friend for a late lunch and had the fish and chips and salmon sandwich, both were amazing. Exactly what you want from a great bar menu. Service is friendly and fast. Great vibe, and nice a cool A/C was blasting on a hot day, will come back as soon as I can.

This is such a great place. I can't speak to the food but the staff was efficient and kind/friendly. Good beers on tap mix well with a neighborhood pub vibe.

We stopped in here the other day and were pleasantly surprised! We've been in for drinks before but the food was great. The happy hour and specials are really reasonable, Sunday was prime rib although we didn't get it it seemed popular! We opted for the tempura veggies to start and they were hot and tasty. We then between our party had fish and chips and a salmon sandwich. The fish and chips were perfect, nothing to improve upon there. The salmon was supposed to be blackened but it was just really lightly seasoned which was still good! The service was really fast and friendly, it was pretty busy when we got there and continued to be steady. Everything was really tasty and we will for sure make this a regular happy hour spot in the rotation.

I live in Madison Park and love the Attic. I go there 3-5 times a week. But tonight-- a Thursday night -- i went there for dinner after work. The restaurant had a band playing that was AWFUL! There were loud and very bad. You could not hold a conversation. I had to leave. While i love the Attic i will not be back on a Thursday night. What manager allows this - the band is literally SHOUTING!

Not the friendliest server today, novice drinks were ok; food was good but the server seemed to rush us out (Note: we were the only table). Idk, maybe this is the new post pandemic normal. Best bet grab a beer (not a cocktail) & bite; chill space (old Seattle).

I've been here a couple times for breakfast and what a great spot. Must have breakfast potatoes which we ask for extra crispy. Love the eggs Benedict and French toast. Service is super fast and friendly. I need to try their burgers because they look great. I also enjoy the decor choice so really 10s across the board.

The food and the vibe was good. Cheeseburger was better than I thought it would be although fries were cold. Chicken wing sauce was also good and they were nice and crispy. The service was honestly not great. It felt like the waiter was either having a bad day or just ready to clock out. It wasn't that busy, so not sure what her issue was. She gave, almost threw, The bill to us and she came off rude. When she brought us the menu she asked us if we wanted thing from the happy hour menu which we weren't aware off. She showed us the menu and rolled her eyes as if we were to know what the specials were. I'll come back but sit elsewhere so she isn't my waiter.

Great service & quiet on a Sunday at noon. Monte Cristo & coffee tasted good. Recommend their nachos

Visited this place a few days ago with friends. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations--waited 10 to 15 minutes for bartender to approach us even though the bar wasn't full. The bartender, a guy with a beard, was out on the floor, talking and bussing tables, etc; even though there was a heavyset guy working the floor. Took another 15 minutes to get menus. The food was good. In the time I was there, 3+ hours, I ordered 2 drinks. I requested another drink, and the bartender brought me a soda, without alcohol. I didn't say anything. After I finished the soda, he asked me if I wanted another. I said, "no I'm okay right now". Without a word he walked over to the cash register, rang me out, handed me the entire tab for my party, and walked away. The place has a cool vibe, but the lack of service really overshadowed it. Not sure I'd return anytime soon."

Great service and French fries. They make their own ranch dressing, delicious! Casual place with TVs to watch the game

3 Stars because I'm nostalgic...i spent a lot of time here in college. But I heard a restaurateur saved/purchased the bar...so why is the food not good...or at least better? Service is great and the beers are amazing. Yelp wants me to mention "ambiance" but if you don't know the Attic.... you don't know. No comment.

Probably the rudest place. Servers are old and cranky with ok food bar. But for the price, no thanks! I would think given how the restaurant industry is suffering that they'd be more customer friendly.

I will give the new Attic 5 stars, because the staff was friendly, the beer was cold, the food was good, and the place was clean. I miss the old Attic and am very disappointed it is gone. I spent a lot of time there when I lived at the Edgewater Apts 5 blocks away. Seems like a lot less seating in the new layout. Oh well. The bartender had very good things to say about the two owners. I was impressed she said one of the owners preps/cooks a lot and cleans the place making it easier for the employees to do their jobs. Always a good sign when the staff talks up the ownership.

Bizarre the food is so bad from an Ethan Stowell revamp.When something gets revamped shouldn't it mean better or much better all the way around? There is nothing remotely inventive or interesting on the menu. Nachos were bad, stale chips, burger and french dips sooo dry. The lighting is gross, not cozy or warm and the place overwhelmingly smells like grease and so will you when you leave... pathetic

Love this place! 'Real Seattle' and light filled bright space. Great food with quality ingredients. Friendly staff and great location. The prices were great too. Best spot in Madison Park.

Favorite bar to go to in Madison park area! Love the homie vibes and I have to give a shout out to Destiny one of the bartenders. She is always on point with service; remembered my drink of choice by my third visit and always give great service.

An upscale "dive bar". First visit was good but I only had beer. Second visit I should have stuck to drinks. Nacho's were way below what I'd expect from an Ethan Stowell place or any place. Unmelted cheese and stale chewy chips. I'll cautiously give it one more try.

We go to the Attic periodically and always have a great time. The outdoor patio area is dog friendly, and a fun place to get a casual brunch (bonus: they have mimosa pitchers for super cheap - I think $15). Food portions are huge, and pretty good too considering it's bar food. Drink pours are generous Most recently we came the night before Thanksgiving to meet up with some friends. Apparently every year, on this night, it gets insanely packed and they prepare for it like the zombie apocalypse. I didn't believe it when I saw it with my own eyes. All of a sudden, at around 9:30pm, hoards of young folk started streaming in..and didn't stop. Just a heads up for everyone next Thanksgiving :) FOOD: Chicken strips and fries - huge pieces of chicken (2-3 giant chunks), and the chicken is great. Nice and crispy, not dry at all. Careful not to burn your tongue. Fries are good as well. Comes with BBQ and ranch by default. DRINK: They seemed to be out of wine glasses when we ordered some red wine, so we got wine in pint glasses instead. Not complaining! SERVICE: Pretty efficient, and the people are very friendly, especially if you are a regular.

I had tried several times to watch a Kraken game but it was always full. Last Tuesday some friends and I were able to grab a spot. The place was fun to watch the game but the food was mediocre at best, specially considering the price. I was disappointed since several of the other reviews said the food was good. I would still go back but I wouldn't eat thing.

The wings were yummy ! I had the grilled wings and my friend had the sweet ginger ones . We had Paloma drinks , next time I'm home I'll be back

Sad to hear that The Attic has closed permanently. I will miss them. It was a great place to hear live music and I was fortunate enough to have played there myself. Thank you to Mark (RIP), Colleen and all the staff for the good times. Thanks to Frank D. for the photos.

First visit since becoming an ESR property and it's gone downhill. $13 for six wings, charged for each iced tea at $3 a pop. Got wings, nachos, and a chicken sandwich, with two beers, and a drink, $115 with tax and tip! What? Also tried to charge us for glasses of wine we didn't order. And they still haven't solved the ventilation problem so you leave smelling like a deep fryer.

Destiny was the greatest bartender! Recommended Espresso Martinis and we're pleasantly surprised. She was so nice and helpful! Will be back for brunch.

Good spots bar and glad it's back running. Beer Prices are too high but that's due to Chef Stowell trademark. Food is still similar burger, salads, etc Not open till dinner time many weeks nights which is limiting access.

The former Madison Park dive was gutted out and remodeled by a former college regular that has owned bars before. 8 TV's to watch sports. Happy Hour is Monday-Friday 4-6. Spirits, beer, & wine. Good times are back.

Solid choice for pub grub, beer selection, and competent service. Sandwichs, burgers (including a veggie choice), salads, and sides. Many TV screens for sports viewers. Downside is that when crowded, one must almost yell in order to be heard in conversation.

I ordered the burger and my friends ordered the French dips - all were inedible! The buns for both items, while different, were both dry and tasteless. The burger was over cooked and tasteless. The roast beef in the French dip appeared to have been previously cooked and then rewarded. The aus jus was like colored water. I won't be returning - my stomach was cramping after we left!

Definitely not open at 9am on Saturday like the sign and website say. Came to visit but no sign of activity.

My favorite place in Madison Park... An institution serving beer & food for a locals for decades. It's great to hang out and watch sports while grabbing one of a dozen or more beers on tap to pleasure your senses. I've had the pleasure of enjoying many fine meals but I will say my favorite is the A&E Chicken sandwich. The secret is the bacon place & cheese and the way they marinate the chicken prior to grilling . Friday is clam chowder day day. It's thick , rich & creamy soup that will warm your belly on the coldest of days. Now on a game day the wings are phenomenal. Nice to spicy but a nice kick to them overall for your pleasure. But the beer on tap selection is never ending and always changing. You'll see there always on the cutting edge of locating the next best brew for u. You get the feel of home when you enter these walls. More like a giant man cave is more like it... Nothing aloof about "The Attic", it's a solid establishment.

This is a typical sports bar in the Madison Park neighborhood that's been there for decades. They have a small patio out front with table service. The menu is full of solid bar food (burgers, nachos, sandwiches, wings) and a small selection of salads (with salmon, chicken, shrimp). They have great daily food specials and a solid selection of beers on tap, along with a full bar. I believe all their wine is boxed wine. The service has always been mediocre. The staff is not overly friendly and seems to favor regulars, of which there are many. Tonight we stopped in for dinner and the sandwich board out front advertised chicken tortilla soup and a brisket quesadilla. The menu inside stated there's a special menu item on Thursdays, but when my husband asked what the special was, we were told there wasn't one. I didn't bring up the brisket quesadilla on the sign outside... then I tried to order a cup of the soup of the day and was told it was "running pretty low earlier and didn't look very good." I guess I appreciate honesty, but it was really weird. We'll be back out of convenience, and the food is always fine, but the service isn't my favorite.

All five for these guys. As I was sitting at the bar waiting for breakfast this morning I looked these guys up on Yelp to see the reviews. I was surprised to see the negative ones. To be completely transparent - as soon as I walked in to this place I was a part of the experience. It felt like I was back on the East Coast. It's not all fake smiles and $17 drinks here. It's real. The owner is passionate and loves this place completely. The bartender was extremely personable and attentive. I stayed after I had finished my biscuits and gravy to talk with the owner a bit about life. All in all, this place is genuine. You get what you get and I'll be surprised if you don't like it. If you're looking to crush some drinks with some good food and REAL conversation or shoot darts and jam out to a live band, then this your place because that's what these guys represent. So I think this is a great neighborhood bar. However, as someone that's not a political activist I take offense at their restroom designation. They have one for men exclusively and the other is designated men/women. So men have 2 options women 1. What is this? What restaurant doesn't have both gender neutral or designated both for each sex? Is this just a guy's bar? Really disappointed in this establishment. This would have never occurred with the previous ownership, what is their point? This was a decision that was obviously intentional. I feel as if these guys don't "get" the neighborhood.

Big fan of this place- buuuuuut be aware the kitchen closes really early! If I'm remembering correctly, I think it closes at 6. That doesn't give you much time to hustle there after work. We had a great time sitting on the patio, eating some sammys and having a beer. The place isn't Update! Apparently kitchen is now open til 11

The new Attic is fantastic! all the bad reviews are from prior ownership. They should have renamed it "The Attic2" just to get a clean slate. I love the Attic! I get the Baja burger.

Great place to go for an early drink during the summer when it is still light out, sit on the patio enjoy the scene and hopefully pet a couple dogs that walk by. If you are there to watch a game you won't be disappointed either tons of TV's always with sports on. Make sure you order the fries with ranch it is the perfect compliment to whatever beer you may order especially after drinking more than you should. Dart board is inside if you feel like playing a bar game.

I came back after more than a year. Drinks and food great, however, service is SOOOOO BAD! For that reason I am NOT coming back. Went for breakfast and the service was careless, they were just chatting and taking care of the minimal. We thought it was only our table but after checking their service we realized they didnt care for anyone. I dont think they even care if you leave them tip or not but at least our table we decided to leave CERO. I hope the owner or manager reads this so they can improve their service. Friends were there the night before and they told me they had a terrible service as well.

I have only been once, but it was enough not to want to return. Everything was just "meh." The service was meh, the food was meh, the environment was meh. I suppose sitting outside on a sunny, warm day would make it less meh, but there are plenty of other places in the immediate vicinity that are much better that offer outdoor seating. The food was my least favorite part, although the service was nothing to write home about. The burger I got was a little too greasy and not very flavorful. It was served on what seemed more appropriate for a bratwurst than a hamburger. The fries were the battered kind that is just not my style. Meh.

I came here with some friends that used to frequent this place all the time. We walked in on a week day night and the entire place was quiet. Aside from the party of friends, it was almost empty. Sort of pub-ish inside, with big screens playing sports. Staff wasn't the friendliest in the world. We had a brew, talked for awhile and then packed up and left. To be honest, I've been in the area quite a bit and never knew the Attic existed.

I. Freaking. Love this place. The Attic is my go-to place for casual, unpretentious food and drink. The burgers are delicious, specifically the Puyallup. The fries are addictive. But the drinks and the bartender(s) are why we keep coming back. Colleen and her crew are thoughtful and attentive, always recognizing when people are running low on their favorite beverage. We always have a great time interacting with the folks behind the bar, and no matter how busy it is we get fantastic service. The Attic is a true institution and we are so happy to be able to visit regularly!

Just ate there tonight (wings night ... very good) and it seems they have addressed the noise problem. While the place wasn't full, there were plenty of people there and the ambient noise was fine. Great place in Madison Park!

The local hang Ambience: 3 Food: 4 Drinks: 5 Value: 4 The definitive local bar. After all, what other place will open up at 7am for a World Cup game. With banners and pennants of local teams on the walls and ceiling, this local dive is perfect for the sports fan. With mimosa carafes (in a beer pitch), beer buckets, and surprisingly good food, even my wife tolerates going here (plus she thinks the bartender is cute).

Awful service from the patio tonight. Waiter walks up to our table and just stares at us without talking or introducing himself and waits for us to begin. After waiting 15 minutes for him to come over to order our drinks and after waiting 10 minutes our waiter returned to ask again what we ordered and said the ticket was lost. Waiter disappeared for 20 minutes and waited over 40 minutes for food to arrive. Ordered chips and dip as a starter (salsa and guac) which didn't come out with mains until 40 minutes after ordering. Waiter laughed when we went inside to ask about our food since he had not returned outside since taking our order. Food arrived and we did not have napkins, silverware and had to ask for sauces. Had to go inside again to ask server for silverware and sauce. Server comes out after food and laughs asking if "everything's all good?" Never apologized for the wait or his absence our entire meal. don't go near the waiter with the glasses and the ponytail! You'll regret it

Things Change. People change, they move on. This used to be my go to place; we probably ate here at least once a week. Despite the smoke, the slightly confused waiters we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. But I guess there are other places to go for burgers sobeer and I haven't been there in a long time. I was there tonight and the place has changed. In the old days, any night of the week, there would be dozens of people guzzling beer and eating burgers. But there were barely a half dozen people in the joint tonight. We asked the waiter what the special was, and not only did HE not know what it was, the chef didn't know either; at 6 oclock! The burgers were still good and the beer selection is still good. One really bizarre thing was that a waitress changed the channel on one of the sets even though we were watching the program. We told her we were watching and she just shook her head, sighed and changed the station. In the hour I was there I didn't see her serve a single table. I digress, in any case, I guess the food is still okay in a pinch but there are plenty of other good places to go for a burger and beer.

My husband and I LOVE "hole-in-the-wall" finds. This bar was exactly that! It was our first time in Seattle, and we were exploring all of the surrounding neighborhoods. It appears to be a local hangout, where everybody knows your name. It is decorated with sports paraphernalia, so dressing casual is an absolute must! I was disappointed in the beer selection. My first 3 (very common) choices were not sold. The "regulars" that were in there, were super friendly and chatted up a storm with us. Then there was the bartender..... She was truly the most UNPLEASANT human being on the planet! That is using the nicest adjective I could for her. She seemed put out by any questions, and had no intentions of showing any time of warm customer service. I would be shocked (and disappointed) if she ever received tips. From the outside, it's darling. I would advise to continue down the street to the next one. There are several close by!
