Auldgirth Inn

"It’s claimed that Robert Burns was once a regular at this Gothic-style roadside pub. There’s a relaxed, unpretentious air about the place, from the friendly service to the generous cooking. Assured, modern dishes showcase well-balanced flavour combinations and a good level of precision; look out for well-executed desserts like rhubarb custard tart with blood orange and white chocolate. Smart, modern bedrooms make planning an overnight getaway even more appealing." - Michelin Inspector

What a wonderful lunch. We were greeted by the most friendly people and seated. So attentive and one of the highlights. We went for the ham terrine and mussels as a starter, both wonderful and so tasty. For main we had the game sausages and mash and the braised beef. Delicious, brilliantly cooked, well seasoned and so satisfying. I wish we had had room for pudding! The room was cosy and warm. The bill was also only £55 including 2 soft drinks each! We were so impressed. Will definitely be back and cannot recommend enough.

We were impressed with this place. Externally it looks well maintained and has good parking. The interior is atmospheric and the restaurant food is superb. Our room was large and comfortable although there was only one chair. The bed was also large and very comfortable indeed.||In fact our only criticism would be the shower set up in the bathroom (which seems to be a theme in our reviews). Although the fittings in the bathroom were modern as was the decor, the shower itself was in a cramped cubicle with no surfaces to rest soap or shampoo. This was because of the sizable bath we presume. We really doubt whether nowadays there is much demand for baths. We think that people are looking for good sized walk in showers or wet rooms.||The staff were unfailingly courteous and efficient.

Just back from a lovely stay and dining experience at Auldgirth Inn. From our warm welcome to our check out on the service from all was perfect and I would not hesitate to book again and try another delicious tasting menu. I wasn't sure if breakfast was included in the room rate as the price was so affordable but I was delighted to find that it was and that the quality of ingredients in the full Scottish were just as considered and excellent as those used at dinner. Special mention to the hostess, the serving staff and chefs who accommodated my dietary requirements without issue and checked the tasting menu was suitable for a pregnant lady :) I'm so thrilled as I would have been so jealous missing out. Anything I couldn't have was tweaked for me which was really appreciated. The atmosphere was lovely, perfect for relaxed fine dining and I hope to come back again soon and hear some piano :) The roon was spacious and immaculate and it was a nice wee surprise to find some robes to wear aswell whilst lounging about after stuffing our bellies. Thank you to all for making our stay welcome and enjoyable. We will definitely be back. Warm Regards Debbie

If you’re a foodie, this is the destination for you. The warmest welcome and stunning food in a beautiful, historic building. A superb place for a meal and stop over. Louise is an attentive host and you just haven’t lived until you’ve eaten an Auldgirth haggis scotch egg. The quality and variety of steaks available is great and they are cooked to the highest standard. My gluten free requirements were catered with ease and I really didn’t feel I missed out because the quality of the gluten free menu items was tip top. Breakfast was delicious - but difficult to squeeze in after such an amazing meal the night before. If you want to treat yourself to a night away in a peaceful location with great food and drink, this is the place to come to. Highly recommend.

This is a fantastic restaurant. We sat in tge dog friendly area. All the staff were lovely and welcoming, and really friendly. The food was amazing, totally exceptional. Great wine choices and not too expensive. Will definitely be back for the teasting.menu.

We had dinner and stayed for one night. The service is absolutely impeccable, the blond lady who welcomed us and was our waitress throughout our stay is very friendly and lovely. The food is exceptional, slightly more expensive but it is absolutely worth it. Delicious unpretentious food, while definitely feels like fine dining. There’s an open kitchen where it’s nice to watch your food being prepared. Great selection of wine too. Highly recommended for a special occasion. The room was OK, there was a bit of a musky smell, but otherwise it was fine, comfy mattress and nice and quiet at night. We stayed in room 6, a bit small but fine for 1 night.

Definitely not to be missed. We had the pleasure of staying 2 nights in July. We ate in the restaurant Saturday night and Sunday lunch. We had some of the best food we have ever had. The steak my husband had was simply amazing, he couldn’t fault it at all. The staff were absolutely brilliant. We will definitely make Auldgirth Inn a must do on our next trip to Scotland. We could not fault a thing.

This hotel is a little gem! Our room was lovely, clean and spacious. Although its just off the main road, the road noise was minimal.|We ate in the restaurant and it was fabulous. Their dry aged steaks are amazing. Well worth a trip.|Highly recommended.
