Great espresso, killer pour over

Google
A big fan of the atmosphere - cozy chairs and a backyard patio I have yet to try. Helpful and friendly customer service. I did come at a quiet time and still had a tough time finding parking, but nice and peaceful inside once I found a spot. Got myself a lovely cappuccino. Have plans to return, for sure. ☕️

Michael Damato

Google
Great upscale coffee shop with pour overs, pastries, and a lot of non-caffeinated options. Beans and decaffeinated offerings were all made by the owner off site and available for purchase. The pour over was very good and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely will be returning to try more of the pour overs!

Google
Love the vibe and cozy, retro atmosphere at this coffee shop! Awesome paintings and murals throughout the space in addition to fun, 50s style furniture and comfortable chairs and tables and high top chairs with counters. They have a great menu of lattes, classic drinks and teas. The fresh sprinkled donuts and pastries also Looked fantastic. My friend and I got there at 9:30 on a Sunday Am and it was mostly empty, easy to find parking on Elston and grabbed a table. But by 10:15am, the place was pretty much full and talking volume got louder. Either way- I will be back! Great spot for studying, reading or meeting a friend. Next time I will try a latte! My cafe Au Lait was perfect, great tasting, strong coffee and a heart in the foam.

Google
Came here to do some work before I picked up a friend from the airport (it’s near the highway). I ordered a matcha latte and it was very milky and didn’t really taste like matcha. They also closed earlier than I thought so I wasn’t there long. Very pretty interior though!

Amy Lee

Google
Such a cutie modern yet artsy cafe spot! The intersection of the streets could be a bit confusing to find but def check out their unique latte flavors! I got the coconut cream latte and since I love coconut- it hit every spot 10/10.

Google
With a plethora of coffee joints in the city, Avondale Coffee Club stands out as one of the few that consistently focuses on quality products. While expensive, this is *the* place to visit for your pourover needs. Always offering a variety of beans and processing methods, the staff ensure a good cup by taking the time needed to ensure a good pourover, by serving the pourover in an insulated carafe, and by brewing at proper temps. This results in a cup that exhibits the aromas and flavors of the bean. Lots of seating though it can get busy. Pourover cost average $12. Friendly, very knowledgeable staff. Def. A+.

Look at the photo.... Are you kidding me? We dont live in a third world country. This is absolutely diabolical. Close your bathroom or fix your god forsaken toilet. If this is your mentality over BASIC hygiene, God knows what else they are up to in here. I have never seen this before in my life.

Conner Morton

Google
The most confusing combination of amazing coffee/atmosphere and poor customer service. Have had several interactions with different workers that varied from cold to downright rude. Also, please just fix your bathroom lock- a latch at home depot costs less than one pour-over.

Yelp
I went to Avondale Coffee Club for my first time this morning and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. I was looking for a new, cozy spot as I've tried a lot of coffee shops in Chicago and this place is such a gem. When I walked in, one of the first things I noticed was signs noting no phone calls or Zoom calls allowed which I am a huge fan of. The cafe was cute, cozy, and had the perfect noise level which allows customers to have conversation or work quietly in peace rather than screaming over music like other cafes in the city. I ordered the Maple + Cinnamon iced latte and it was everything I wanted and more. I especially appreciated the fact that the flavor didn't taste fake/artificial - it was flavorful while not being overwhelming. My fiancé ordered the Madagascar Vanilla latte and loved his as well. We also ordered a vanilla donut and a chocolate croissant which were both very good as well. I can't say enough great things about Avondale Coffee Club and truly cannot wait to return again! Do not miss out on this hidden gem.

Yelp
I've tried many times to give this place a chance, and today is the last day I'll buy a cup of disappointment. I'm always met with a smug cashier, and their "innovative" latte concoctions are horrible. The mad scientist behind these drinks doesn't have tastebuds. Today's purchase was their iced matcha with rootbeer extract (or something along those lines). It tasted like straight up mint toothpaste. Even after putting a ton of sugar, I couldn't mask the taste.

Yelp
Fun spot! This place was super busy on a Sunday morning where every table and high chair was taken. The staff was super friendly and warm. I ordered an iced hazelnut latte and my boyfriend ordered a maple cinnamon latte. I enjoyed my latte overall, there wasn't anything wrong or anything outstanding. My boyfriend really enjoyed his latte, the cinnamon was a nice subtle kick! Prices were reasonable and would love to come back to do some work or read here!

Yelp
Where have all the yelpers gone? No reviews in 7 months? That's crazy! I came here for a quick cup of coffee. The staff was great and although I took my coffee to go, this wouldn't be a bad place to sit down, relax and sip on some coffee. It looked very inviting and cozy. They do have a lot of options to order. Their Cafe con Leche caught my eye. When I think of Cafe con Leche, I think of strong Cuban coffee, and then you add some Azucar and you get a really sweet and strong coffee. Unfortunately, their version didn't come close. While it was still tasty, it should not be named Cafe con Leche. Would probably try something else next time though.

Yelp
I've driven by several times and haven't had occasion to stop, but today was the day. I love that they have a large, covered outdoor space in the back between the parking and the shop. There's very much a retro vibe happening here along with a tropical cabana sort of feel, and it looks really comfy with the nice plush chairs and whatnot (I stopped in to pick up and go, so I didn't get to sit and enjoy). They also appear to have a shop bird, though they were hiding when I was here. The drinks are just ok. At least, the one I had. My chai was not very robust which was a disappointment. It had some flavor, but just a bit weaker than I'd hoped. I also tasted a bit of hibiscus lemonade and it was alright. I neglected to ask if it was homemade lemonade and that is totally on me. They use Simply Lemonade (it was being delivered whilst we were there). I got a rosemary caramel sea-salt latte for my significant other and they thought it was quite good. That's something I did very much like about The Avondale Coffee Club--they had quite a few drinks that seemed a little unique, like the rosemary. It was worth a visit.

Yelp
Good coffee and loved the back outdoor seating when we went it was nice to hang back there .

Yelp
While visiting my son in Belmont area, I was happy to find two great coffee shops within walking distance! From the moment you walk in, Avondale has a fun ambience and a fun range of interior and exterior spaces! I was up before everyone else, so I took my sketchbook and settled in with a tasty honey latte (hot, cuz I'm old) and proceeded to partake of the vibe! The staff was super mellow and courteous. I only had the coffee but there were pastries looked delicious. Came back a day later for round two of drink and draw. Check them out!
google avatar

Anne W.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite local coffee shops! The coffee is so great, they roast their own beans. The baristas are always friendly and the space is so inviting. I love all of their plants that they have! They also have a very nice outdoor patio in the back.
google avatar

Anamaria H.

Yelp
This is probably the best coffee shop in the city in terms of seating options! So many options! Bar seating overlooking the windows, couches, armchairs, tables. So many seats. And there's wifi! The coffee itself was great. A good iced latte that just tasted right. And they had a lot of pastry options if you want a sweet treat.
google avatar

Tim A.

Yelp
Great coffee. Super vibe. Knowledgeable staff. I was pleasantly surprised. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I will stop by.
google avatar

Genna G.

Yelp
Yay yay ! nothing better than finding an awesome new coffee spot walking distance from home. You know a latte is legit when it comes complete with custom foam design. I had the honey latte with almond milk. The custom all their own flavoring ( no sugar free syrups / flavoring around if that's an issue ). Decor is adorable and plenty of seating options from wooden tables to do work, comfortable couches and big lounge chairs. This place is elegant and adorable. Free parking for an hour in the back too ( enter lot off Belmont) . Not many food options - just a couple of sweet treats available but I'll be back for the lattes for sure... maybe tomorrow !!!
google avatar

Ari L.

Yelp
Really cute coffee shop. My first time in there. Espresso was good and not too bitter. Ample seating. I appreciated that they asked people not to take zoom calls in there. I think they have food offerings, but it was late in the day and they were out. Street parking isn't great but I will definitely come back some time.
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
okay i love the decor in this place and wanna give it another try but they were out of chai when i went and i didn't like the matcha i ordered instead:/
google avatar

Anna R.

Yelp
Excellent place for coffee & WiFi. Customers are serious workers on their computers. Great place to come alone if you need quiet or need to study or work. My mocha was exquisitely prepared. And tasted so good, especially on a rainy afternoon. Went well with reading a chapter from "The Everlasting Man" by GK Chesterton. A happy customer here!
google avatar

Alysha M.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this cosy coffee shop. Their lattes were so good. We came back for the lavender one the next day. They also have Komunity Kombucha in stock for a reasonable price. We loved the patio area and free parking. Staff and the owner were super friendly and helpful. The vegan matcha muffin with raspberry filling was our fav.
google avatar

Patty M.

Yelp
Great coffee shop on the corner of the street. Nice atmosphere. Great service. Love it here !
google avatar

Jeka M.

Yelp
All the vibes! Chill, retro, craft, plants, natural light, brick, pops of color, wood, awesome latte flavors. Latinx / Women owned! Parking in the back or street, friendly baristas, and a sign letting you know that they're the home of the "raspberry caramel sea salt latte" (something like that... I know I'm close!) which yes, is all one thing, and yes, is delicious. Outdoor seating & indoor seating, lots of space, on a nice busy corner if you like to look outside while you do whatever coffee things you do.
google avatar

Christi C.

Yelp
Cute little coffee place pros: ample parking in back, outdoor seating area, what you would expect in terms of beverage options + some interesting specialty drinks, quick and friendly service cons: uhh.. really tried to think of something but failed
google avatar

Anne W.

Yelp
Lovely outdoor space and some fun comfortable tables inside. Latte with their house "award winning" espresso was pretty good - a little acidic for my taste. Pourovers with a variety of fancier beans seems to be their most notable thing. Maybe I would try that next time. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
google avatar

Michelle E.

Yelp
Great spot to grab a drink- coffee, tea, or other - either to go or to catch up with friends. Cool retro decor inside and charming patio. The coffee isn't weak, but not overly strong; smooth and not bitter. I ordered the bourbon vanilla latte with oatmilk. A little pricier than other places, but I definitely enjoyed it. I didn't try the pastries, however the rosemary caramel was a new, and enjoyable, flavor profile. Definitely a place to stop when in the neighborhood.
google avatar

April P.

Yelp
BIG YES to this adorable coffee shop. The barista was so inviting and kind. I got the coconut cream iced latte with macadamia milk and it's really refreshing and delicious. There's free wifi, lots of places to work or places to circle up and chat with friends. Filled with live plants and local art. I feel extremely cozy here and cannot recommend enough that you come check it out. Also this is a latinx owned business, so come support!
google avatar

Theresa W.

Yelp
Excellent roasted beans! I bought a bag of space flower espresso and a bag of their unsafe for a my home espresso machine. Both are excellent. So happy to have found a roaster in the neighborhood that I like.
google avatar

Liz K.

Yelp
Friendly staff, lovely place to sit and chat or work -- super cute decor. They make all their own syrups, but I usually get the drip coffee and it's great.
google avatar

Chloe B.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood spot! I recently moved around the corner and love all of the coffee options in Avondale. I find myself returning most often to Avondale Coffee club because of their great lattes, quiet interior, and friendly staff. I would rec the honey latte! This is a great place to get some work done. It's never too loud and there's a ton of seating. They were actually one of the first places I sat inside after I was vaccinated because of the ample space. They even have a few parking spots out back.
google avatar

Mallory S.

Yelp
Finally a comfy cafe to read a book!!! Plush chairs and LOTS of chargers! We left Logan Square's Gaslight Coffee Roasters cuz they had middle school chairs. My wife's a teacher and needed to do work without feeling like she was still in school. Cafes should be cozy as Avondales! The chai latte in a mug is soooo creamy and flavorful. Love how they opt to use real mugs. Their warm ham and cheese stuff croissant was so damn good. Fast WiFi. Great food. Yummy drinks. Perfect spot
google avatar

Jaclyn C.

Yelp
Everything about Avondale coffee club is unique. From the mod decor to the beverages. I had their matcha with CBD and enjoyed every sip! They are dog friendly, but only on the back patio, which is cute and relaxed. Away from the busy traffic, it's an oasis of its own. Note- you can't take alcoholic beverages on the patio. Service was quick and courteous. Nothing stand out but nothing to complain about! Cant wait to visit again, especially for one of their events!
google avatar

Giovanna G.

Yelp
From the Hosts, baristas, owners, coffee and other treat this place is literally amazing

Emma D.

Yelp
The coffee is amazing and the decor really sets the mood. p.s. There iced mocha is great.

Yelp
Finally getting around to writing this review. First of all, love that they have a parking lot! To enter the cafe from the parking lot you go through a little outdoor patio. The patio is set up adorably with candles, large burlap coffee bags from all around Central America, cute plants and dangly string of lights. The inside is decorated nicely, giving it a retro vibe. Did not expect for it to look like that inside! It's also surprisingly large. Lots of seating. Now, what I loved most was the customer service. Chris* was so sweet, her smile is contagious. You can tell she enjoys being there and to me that's important especially when you're like me and ask a lot of questions! They carry some of my current favorite things, like oat milk, matcha and turmeric. Super excited that they offered oat milk. Highly recommend with your latte or any other beverage with steamed milk. They offer a variety of flavors too. I tried the cinnamon dolce which was just the right amount of sweetness. I hope to try a new flavor each time I visit. I also ate the berry overnight oats. Yum! Thrilled to find out that they sell Somethin' Sweet donuts. One of my favorite donut shops in the city! Loved this little gem, and it's quiet enough for getting your work/homework done. Will definitely be back with friends! Oh and last important thing, spiked beverages! Yes. You're welcome.

Charles N.

Yelp
This is absolutely one of the cutest coffee spots in the city, and has great coffee, but the hipster guy (owner?) that works there consistently blasts the most god-awful music on the planet. it's impossible to ignore when trying to get work done or converse with a friend. I'm about 0-for-10 now and have stopped coming here. PLEASE change things up, or at least turn that @#$@! WAY down until it becomes background noise. And before you all scream "get off my lawn" at me, I'm in my mid-20s, and have at four other friends who have stopped coming here for the very same reason.
google avatar

Chante G.

Yelp
This spot is such an eclectic gem! I love the retro decor that has plenty of space to catch up with friends or even do some studying. I also like that they have some organic options (as well as some liquor options ;) for folks to enjoy! Overall, a great business to support!
google avatar

Zack R.

Yelp
Excellent addition to a growing part of Avondale. Outstanding coffee and coffee drinks (the mocha is what dreams are made of), and tons of extras. Salads, high end sodas, and pastries from Dinkle's! They have games, and really cool 50's mod decor, and the outdoor area is such a plus, especially in this neighborhood. I'm so happy to see an investment in the Belmont/Elston/California area. Nothing but great establishements here with Pisolino, B'el, Beer Temple, Traspassada, Guanajuato, Dmen, Kuma's, and now Avondale Coffee Club!
google avatar

Brian L.

Yelp
Hm, okay I'll get on board. I'm fairly new to the neighborhood. I once lived in Seattle within a minute of walking to two different amazing coffee shops where I could take out my MacBook™ and look cool as shit. Unfortunately, there did not seem to be much in the way of coffee places in Avondale except this spot. God forbid I make the commute to Wicker Park. Was walking with a friend and we decided to check it out as neither of us had been. The interior feels a bit retro and there are a mixture of comfortable seats, standard chairs and table, and bar seats along the windows. Lots of drink options and a window full of cakes and treats. We enjoyed chilling here for a while, chatting and sipping. It seems like a nice chilled out spot to work. Not too noisy or crowded. I look forward to coming back.

Yelp
Soft opening is at 5pm to 10pm on Thursday October 11 2018! Grand opening Friday October 12 I live in the neighborhood and had to check out The Avondale Coffee Club ! We have been waiting for a coffee shop in our neighborhood for ages! Owned by the owners of Urban Imaging the coffee shop is extemely well planned out. The design and decor is on point! The staff are extremely trendy and friendly. The coffee and desserts are amazing and not to mention they will have amazing food from wraps to bowls daily! Their GM Stephanie creates her own syrups for the lattes non of that store bought stuff (wow!!!) We are very excited for this spot to be a neighborhood charm! Not to mention the amazing outdoor space and parking (although im walking distance parking is great for friends). 5 stars for The Avondale Coffee Club! Great job guys! Good luck tomorrow at the grand opening!
google avatar

Eddie M.

Yelp
A nice, laid back place, A few comfortable easy chairs, A few regular wooden seats. A nice touch, unlike some Dunkins that are hot in the summer this was comfortably cool. Not a large pastry selection but some are big. Worth checking out.
google avatar

Caeleigh R.

Yelp
Such an awesome place that has lots of room both inside and out. The decor is a mixture of bright geometric designs meet midcentury modern. There is free parking in the back and a patio that is covered so you can still enjoy it during rainy days. The menu has a good array of coffees, teas, and lemonades and there are a few food items to enjoy as well (scones, muffins, breakfast buns). Service was pleasant and super fast. Great place to enjoy a book on the couch, power through some studying or work, or have a coffee chat with a friend.

Adam H.

Yelp
My favorite coffee I've had in Chicago. Nice people, and a good spot. Ruined other coffee shops for me.

Lynn Z.

Yelp
The best cup of coffee I have ever tasted!!! I ordered the Rosemary Sea Salt Carmel Latte, the oat milk version. Very often oat milk versions disappoint at other establishments. It was so creamy and delicious from first sip to last. There was also a nice assortment of pastries from a local bakery. Again, absolutely delicious! Staff is super friendly and I just want to give the place a big hug!!!
google avatar

Ela G.

Yelp
Every time I come here the baristas are super nice and friendly. Also- added bonus of parking in the back. I love the space- this is the first time I came here to work on my computer and there are a bunch of outlets and the seats are comfy with good internet.
google avatar

Charles C.

Yelp
Unique, Classy, and Hip. Those are a couple words I would use to describe The Avondale Coffee Club. This is an up&coming coffee shop in an up&coming neighborhood. I came here with my family and ordered a cappuccino (and the size was upgraded for free). We actually ran into the owner while we were these and he had a 30 minute conversation with us. He was very nice and told us all about his vision for the coffee club. I will definitely be coming back to work remotely and enjoy a great cup of coffee (which is local sourced).
google avatar

Samantha P.

Yelp
Very nice place. Their coffee is excellent and also their service. I enjoy going there!
google avatar

Matthew A.

Yelp
I had the cold brew and it made me feel very good. Highly recommend the cold brew if you want to feel good.
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
I was a little hesitant about Avondale Coffee Club -- the cheesy, Jetson's-esque signage signaled all kinds of red flags that pointed to yet another try-too-hard, vapidly-midcentury cafe. However! I was pleasantly surprised after visiting. While the decor might be a little too rinse-and-repeat "trendy," the vibe, food and drink more than make up for it. Their coffee is top-notch, the food (all refrigerated - nothing prepared onsite) is exactly what I want when I'm working away on my laptop, and they even have special treats like CBD tea, baklava, and overnight oats. Probably the best part of ACC is the welcoming feel. They're spacious enough that you don't feel rushed out if you're looking for a place to hunker down. They're cool with you staying for hours, even if all you get is a coffee (but don't do that! come on! get another drink, or splurge on a snack). I do wish they'd winterize their back door. Customers can enter from the back, but without a double door system, it means cold air is flowing directly in pretty frequently. Not a big deal, in the scheme of things. All in all, great addition to the neighborhood. I'm glad they're here.
google avatar

Matt L.

Yelp
Coffee shop atmosphere is number one requirement when I'm searching for a new local spot. Avondale Coffee Club's atmosphere is second to none. The outdoor patio differentiates this spot from any coffee spot In Chicago. The coffee is amazing! The sweet treats and catered food is equally amazing. The owners have done a phenomenal job of curating local business specialties and flare while serving up a delicious cup of joe.
google avatar

Joy E.

Yelp
Relaxed vibe inside and a great place to work for a few hours while enjoying some delicious (strong) coffee, doughnuts and pre-made food (yeah, maybe a little pricey but it's all yummy). The owners have really invested themselves in the community and host events periodically. NOTE to owners: the mirrors in the bathroom are placed in a really unfortunate location. (Meaning, they're huge and located where you can see yourself while you're using the loo.) If you could cover them up that'd be helpful.
google avatar

Heather E.

Yelp
Ok it's a coffee shop, I should talk about the coffee... I'm not here to talk about the coffee. I'm so thrilled that they are serving up lunches (wraps and salads) from local (neighboring business) Food First. I got a wrap and it was fantastic, fresh, healthy, delicious!!! I know I will be stopping by regularly for a healthy lunch. They are also selling pastries from local bakeries. This neighborhood needed EXACTLY THIS!
google avatar

Julia V.

Yelp
Just what the neighborhood needed. It's so warm and inviting in here! The staff is very sweet and this scone is AMAZING! This is our new coffee spot
google avatar

Juliana T.

Yelp
Avondale has a special place in my heart and it's my go to coffee shop. Everything is done well and with lots of love. Their coffee is amazing!
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
I love this place. The owners and workers are super friendly, big into supporting local business, and are always excited to talk about their plans for the future. Today I learned that they're getting their liquor license and plan to sell boozy coffees in the evening. They're making plans for a block party with the businesses next door, Pisolino and Beer Temple. They plan to clear out their shared parking lot, get a band, and supply all of the food and drink between them. It's people like these who make a neighborhood vibrant!
