One of longest operating fruit and vegetable shops in Park Slope, the owners Mr. and Mrs. Lee are wonderful people who know their customers well. The store is packed with all items you need and want, including the best fruits and vegetables in the city. This is the definition of local good.

Super sweet and helpful staff, fresh produce, beautiful flowers, and a great curation of dry goods and staples. Their gyoza is especially good! It's a touch more expensive than Union Market, but the experience shopping here is substantially better.

Really convenient and well designed boutique grocery store but their prices can be really high. It is ideal for upper income shoppers otherwise you must be discerning and be prepared for sticker shock. They have an amazing selection of items and I am very lucky to be so close to them though as a middle income local I find it financially impossible to actually shop for all of my groceries here.

Vegetables are supper fresh, but caution for shelf products and frozen foods: on more than one occasion I've bought home stuff from those sections only to discover they had long expired. . . .

Ive been going to the bad wife since it was a single storefront called the green market (soooo happy for the owners that theyve been able to expand and grow as business has improved over the years). Its park slope prices so its not cheap of course but the range of stuff they have and all the beautiful and delicious novelty/unique products make shopping here have a dually practical and exciting experience. I love coming here always!

I've been going here for...15 years now? Wow. In that time I've always found the shop to have everything I need from a neighborhood small grocer, including specialty items, and over the years they've added a few items like some meats, that mean it can serve many of my needs in between trips to a larger market. In particular, I appreciate the home-made kimchee and other items, and the thoughtfulness and kindness of the owners and staff who are great.

All their products are nice and the people their really will help you. By far the best grocery store in the neighborhood. If your looking for some Asian products you can find them here.

This is a brilliant little grocery with all the essentials and quite a bit of Asian variety available too, along with a small produce selection. There's a lot packed in there! It's a good choice for coffee, snacks, but also fennel, vegan food, kimchi, or eucalyptus cuttings (and, like many small grocery stores, some things are better deals than others). Importantly for the neighborhood, Bad Wife also sell live plants and flowers at very reasonable prices. In the spring and summer, they'll often have flowering plants available. I've always had great interactions with the staff here, and am a fan of the place.

Earlier today, I purchased several plants. In the evening, I returned to the store to return those items, for a refund. I no longer wanted those plants. Mrs. Lee refused to accept the return. She referred to a sign that read, plants are not returnable. That particular sign was displayed at at the back of the plant section, on a high shelf. Interestingly enough, at the cash register, there is a sign that states, "Refund policy provided within 2 days receipt." It is mandatory for stores to visibly display their return policy at the cash register. 'The Bad Wife' failed to do so. Mrs. Lee's attitude was rude and dismissive despite being told return policies must be clearly visible by the cash register.

Gluten free! Vegan! Vegetarian! Love this store and if you want to snack healthy - come in! Kombucha, teas, probiotics to spices, grains and fresh produce.

I'm on line at 8:44 pm and the workers are wrapping everything up and it's even difficult to walk down the aisles. They close at 9. I'm being given a difficult time because I need to pay in cash and they already put "the cash in the basement and have to get it". Why have a sign that says you close at 9 and say you close at 9 when asked but they are closed for business well before that time? All this lack of appreciation for customers and their prices are higher than inflation prices and surrounding grocers in the area. The Bad Price! I live in the neighborhood and will walk by and further away if I need any groceries on the fly.

I've lived around the corner from this place for years, and had assiduously avoided it, pretty much 90-95% due to its ridiculous name, which I still struggle with. Nevertheless, as the pandemic has settled in and local shopping has been our only option, I've begrudgingly started to incorporate it into my shopping routine more frequently. They definitely feature some of the best and freshest produce you can find in this neighborhood, and also specialize in sauces/materials for Asian cuisine/cooking as well as plants and flowers--you'll find stuff here beyond what you would--or in a higher quality than you would normally find--in most similar neighborhood markets, at least in this area. Beyond that, a pretty standard market--you'll find your good deals/interesting assortment of products (hummus, craft beer, nice selection of coffee beans) as well as areas where there selection seems sparse or overpriced (milk, bread, canned beans/veggies). They're careful and assiduous regarding COVID protocols and service is efficient and friendly. Now if only they'd do something about that name...

What a fun & friendly shop. Small but effective. Whatever you're looking for, it magically appears. Not too fancy, not to ordinary, just perfect. I feel at ease shopping there & come out with pleasing purchases.

I don't know what I would do without this small but mighty store. It has all the staples I need so it's super convenient for me to run over if I've forgotten something (like an onion, lemon, parsley, etc.). The prices are very reasonable, and the quality of the produce is excellent. I once saw a staff member going through the boxes of cherry tomatoes to throw out the bad ones! They also have a very nicely curated selection of Asian ingredients and specialty products that you might not find at a typical supermarket (Tiger Sugar boba popsicles, anyone?). It's family-run from what I can tell, so I have the impression that everything is hand-selected and "vetted" by the family that runs this place. I've usually been able to find what I need, although the other day I had trouble finding dried anchovies for making dukbokki (Korean rice cakes), which surprised me because this place stocks frozen rice cakes. That said, the staff did their best to try to help me find what I needed, even going downstairs to ask the boss. Besides groceries, I've also gotten planters and flowers here. And I never enter or leave without ogling the plants outside the shop.

I've been going to this place since May this year when I moved back to Park Slope from Cali. They have just what I need most of the time. Everyone is so friendly and helpful there. I love that they have tons of eco-friendly, organic & non-chemical stuff and I'm very pleased with their selections and how organized and clean this place is. Here's what I normally go there for: * Oatly (Yay!) * Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream * Nice flowers in the back * Homeopathic medicines/ vitamins or any preventative stuff * Cleaning Supplies * Personal Hygienic products * Fresh ramens/ noodles I also got one of the bad wife tote bags so go figure how much of a fan of this place I am! It's located in Park Slope only a few blocks from the F train (7th Ave Station) and not too far from Prospect Park.

I've lived in the neighborhood since 2008, but I really appreciated Bad Wife during the Covid 19 pandemic. I prefer Asian food and have not felt confortable going to the larger Asian grocery stores in Sunset Park or Manhattan. So I was excited to find homemade kimchi at Bad Wife. I also picked up Japanese curry, dashi, seaweed, kombu and fresh mint. They also have a large pack of amazing vegetable siomai for around $7. Lunch! Their frozen section has the different dumplings, special seafood balls that are included in ramen and hotpot. They do have small packs of rice, pad thai sauce and noodles. Of course, they have the healthy vegan items and different cheeses, fresh produce, snacks, etc that most Park Slope families prefer. For other people searching for ingredients for their favorite Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese dishes, Bad Wife can help us during this difficult time.

I love the name of this store in addition to everything they sell. Everything is mostly organic and the products are unique. They do charge a little more for items that I can get cheaper elsewhere, but I don't mind supporting a small business. It's the perfect little food market for the little things you can't find anywhere else.

The best bodega with the sassiest name. A haven for the wayward woman seeking succor in bright-lit aisles of polished produce. Helpful staff with a perfect recollection of inventory. Nice flowers and plants, ingredients for Thai or Korean cooking, good avocados, holistic tinctures, baking standards, dark chocolate peanut butter cups, and even firewood.

Place is great. People are friendly. Also, they always have the best music playing in the store. Always.

When in the southern part or Park Slope, I always try to stop by here before heading home because this is a nice spot for me to pick up a few items, like Kimchi and some fruit. It's a two room store that has a economical layout without making it like a claustrophobic maze. There's staples and Asian imports miked within the shelves What I love the most is that they make their own Napa Cabbage Kimchi and even have vegan versions of it. It's pretty good Kimchi in my opinion, I like buying it when it's made by small shops like this, and even at HMart. Sometimes I get sick of the same bottled brands that you can find most everywhere. Since it's something I am always eating, I love 'The Bad Wife' because I think she is like Michael Jackson "Bad' If I am wrong then I don't want to know the story behind the name.

I love the Bad Wife grocery, name and all. They have everything you need for an Asian household, which is rare in Park Slope. I just got a ton of their homemade kimchi, gochuchang, and wrappers and all three of those things would be next to impossible to find unless I went to Whole Foods - where they would be up-charged and "artsy". They have a Greg way selection of ice cream and ready to eat dumplings/Baos. They also have fresh herbs that look way better than those in other groceries.

The Bad Wife=bad name=great market. I stopped in here to pick up some produce and was highly impressed by the offerings--organic apples, verdant bundles of asparagus, plump tomatoes on the vine, real miso, and more. I was also impressed with the frozen foods section, which boasts a variety of Asian foods, vegan and organic food, non-dairy ice creams, and fancy gelato. The dried fruit and chocolate selection was also impressive. The cashier (possibly the owner) was very friendly. I highly recommend The Bad Wife as an alternative to any of the green grocers and bodegas (and of course Key Foods and Met) in this stretch of South Slope.

Excellent store, great produce! I have been going here for years, the owners work hard to provide top food. Some things are more expensive (not the produce, but boxed goods) but such nice people I don't mind. Mr. Lee's son makes the playlist for the music in the store. He should sell it. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Whatever they sell, so does Whole Foods. You are better off going to Whole Foods to shop for a friendlier and more professional customer experience. They were rude to me when I wanted to return an opened jar of pasta sauce with a receipt. Should've been a no brainer, but they made it a problem with a side of attitude. Never shopping there again and neither should you.

Love their fresh juices! Whenever I feel a cold coming on, I pick up afew. Knock on wood but the cold never develops! May or may not be a miracle. Also, cute shop. Never really went grocery shopping there but everything seems to be of nice quality.

Great store, really good produce and selection, prices are reasonable for a small shop and FANTASTIC plants and flowers. I have picked up really beautiful houseplants and now visit every week to buy the cheapest and most beautiful flowers in the neighborhood. They have cut flowers and often gorgeously arranged bouquets, like ordering from a florist for a fraction of the price. I go out of my way to get all my flowers from them.

Best produce in South Slope. Everyone who works there is friendly and there's always great retro music playing (I want that playlist!). Can be a little pricey, but no more than Whole Foods. Great for finding the more obscure bougie food you're after, or picking up a couple fresh ingredients for dinner.

Just for fun, i went to 3 markets in the area looking for a few regular items. There was some time to kill and the curiosity was killing me. So I went to Peppermill, The Bad Wife, and Food Train (the one a few doors north of the bad wife). The bad wife was cheaper by sometimes up to 33%. But then again, Food Train seems to be notorious on yelp for overcharging so this may not be the best index. The service was amazing. The girl at the front door gave a sincere greeting which can be shocking. I was looking at dish soaps, feeling entertained by all of the options when the guy who working towards the back of the store eagerly ran downstairs. 30 seconds later he popped back up with a box of a completely new flavor! (Ok, new scent). I think that's all that needs to be said.

Great prices. I live in Kensington, but come here first to shop before going anywhere else. The people that work there are very nice too.

3.5 stars, really -- I can't really be a 'fan' of a grocery store, but in the context of small neighborhood bodegas, this is a good one. I really like this place, it's friendly, has, for the size, a great selection of merchandise, good, high quality organic and asian specialty items in the dry goods, the best prices on good chocolates, etc. Really a very wide array of delicious foods. Nice selection of plants, flowers, pumpkins, etc on the outside racks (depending on the season). I like supporting a small business, and when I can I try to shop here over the other, less friendly stores in the area (why, there's one just a block down the street), or the ones where they let things go moldy (why, there's one of those in the other direction). Not perfect. Wish they didn't have the 10 dollar credit card minimum, but there you go... Would be nice if they had more organic fresh veggies more reasonably priced. But everything seems to be selected and cared for well, never have gotten a bad item, and some of the prices are the cheapest in the area. All in all a very friendly, nice grocery store with good quality merchandise.

I never buy food from The Bad Wife because I can't afford it. However, I buy flowers and plants from here often. The staff here is awesome. From the guys organizing the shelves to the cashier and managers, everyone is pleasant and helpful. The whole store is wonderfully maintained, clean, organized and customers are greeted warmly. It's a neat store, and I definitely appreciate it in the neighborhood.

I been shopping there for years and it's such a wonderful place. It can be a bit pricey but the vegetables and fruits are always really good. The owners are super nice!

I need cilantro and this place is less than a block from my apartment. I've had lees than perfect experiences in the past, but really needed the cilantro for a dinner party. I paid with a ten and didn't count my change. When i checked my change at home, realized that I was only given change for a five. So unless the cilantro is $7, i was short changed $5. I called the store and explained that I was there 15 mins ago and that the change was incorrect. Instead of an apology or explanation, i was told that it was my problem now. lovey...

What a deli should be in 2019 in Brooklyn! I am there almost every day. Best fruits in Park Slope (I witnessed the owner selecting them during delivery), cheapest organic eggs in a 10 miles radius, smiling and welcoming owners with a real talent to hire the nicest cashiers. They offer an amazing selection in a limited space with reasonable prices. We need more businesses like the Bad Wife!

Friendliest market in the area, clean and well stocked with good produce. Not the place to go if you're looking for a bag of Ruffles or a 12 pack of Coke (you're looking at more organic/high end products, whether you want them or not) but wonderful for flowers, fruit, vegetables and sauces/oils. They also will take requests for orders.

Love this place. It's a little bit expensive for some things like toiletries and plants, but no more than your typical Park Slope market. The produce is always fresh, they carry Halo Top in a bunch of flavors (hard to find in Brooklyn!), and they have a great selection of beer. I also appreciate the tasteful choice in Asian imports like their frozen Daifuku, Nori, tons of noodle varieties, and seasonings. Not to mention the cheese selection is divine. Variety is a central element to this place and I'm always running into new things to try. I tend to walk out with a smile on my face, and their staff is by far the sweetest I've come across- hope they stick around for a long time.

I live just a few blocks from this store, past the Union Market. But I do almost all of my food shopping here. Why? Well, the simple reason is that Mr. and Mrs. Lee have done a super fantastic job running this store. The produce has great variety and is always very fresh. More importantly, they pay great attention to the quality of produce. They only sell what is good. They would spend time to re-package strawberries, for example, taking out the rotten ones. So what you are buying are not just some pre-packaged mass-distributed product, but well-curated products. I have seen them do this to green beans, blueberries, tomatoes, etc. And the best part is that the price is in general cheaper than other stores. They are also one of the best places in the neighborhood to buy plants. In the summer their store front becomes a beautiful nursery, full of colorful flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Lee also take the time to know their customers. I can see that many other people who shop there, like me, chit-chat with the owners at the register. They really do care about their customers and their motto is truly "customer is number 1". Another example is that they always check the eggs at the register to make sure none was broken! Mrs. Lee also started selling her own homemade organic kimchee in recent months. She sells the regular kind, a vegetarian kind, a non-spicy white cabbage kind (only lightly fermented), and a spicy daikon kind. I've tried all of them except the vegetarian kind, and they were all very good. This store also has a great selection of ingredients for Asian food cooking. As you can see, I really like this place. I feel that I can buy great products here at a decent price. And I really treasure the great relationship established between me and the owners. This place is definitely a gem in our neighborhood!

These people are incredibly nice and have a great selection of health foods, and great vegetables. They also have very nice flowers and a great juice bar. And the owner is hilarious. I always go here instead of union market if I can,

I don't know how I never noticed this place before. I've walked past it many times but it somehow has always escaped my periphery vision. I used to frequent Union Market, but now I think this is going to be my goto place. It doesn't have meats (well, it has packaged deli stuff), but it has a great selection of everything else, and FAR cheaper than Union. The produce all looks fresh and the folks running the store are friendly. As a neighborhood place, I'm a fan. Plus... how can you NOT love shopping at a place called "The Bad Wife"...

I often make a special trip here for fresh fruit and salad ingredients, especially when we have guests and I cannot look inside such items as pineapples, avocados, or cantaloupes to determine whether the produce is ripe and ready to be served that day. I have never been disappointed after consulting the owner. I then get praise from the wife and guests for my fine selections. Heh Heh.

Seriously amazing selection of organic, local, delicious food. I came for snacks for an upcoming flight and was not disappointed! Everything from Lara bars to snappea crisps to succulents. Highly recommended for an above average bodega experience!

This place is wonderful. Everyone who works there is super friendly. They have great produce. I bought all of my flowers for my patio this summer and they are THRIVING. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. It actually puts you in a good mood to shop here.

I love the Bad Wife Especially the name. Everyone is very friendly there and always willing to help and get new items. They play great music and it just feels good to shop there. The best part are the owners, Mr. and Mrs. Lee.

Good products, terrible service. Generally overpriced. I called in advance to ask if they carried a hard-to-find product, carrot seed essential oil, which they did, and quoted me a price. My mother went the following week to pick it up, and they said they didn't carry it. I immediately called, to find out that they did carry it, but told me she was looking for an oral suppliment, which she absolutely wasn't!! They were very rude to me on the phone, claiming my mother was in the wrong, not them. Very disappointing!!!

Most people would typically think, ehhh, these bodegas/groceries are all the same, but not this one. I swear this store has the nicest people. Every time I come in with my son in a stroller, they always rush to open the door for me. There is this warmth and coziness about that type of family business, where you generally expected to run into a middle aged woman and man who own the place. They are also quite funny- I think that may have been why they named it their store "the bad wife"- it must be their playful side. Prices here are generally the same as in Food Train, C Town, Mr. Lime, but where I think this place wins is in people. Not to sound like that it is all about that, but sometimes that makes a difference. I am just not up for being talked about when I walk into Food Train store; girls there think that if they speak Chinese, they faces and eye contact would not give away that they are talking trash about you. The kind of stuff make me avoid Food Train for over two years now. I am still going strong! LOL

I always come here for fruit. they have prepared mango and pomegranates that are always stocked and reasonably priced. The owners are very warm and friendly. this store is definitely a gem in park slope.

I love the owners of this store; the name of the store reflects their dry humor. Excellent health food selection and plants (in the summer months). Always super clean and well-organized. Impressive.

This is my favorite market in Park Slope. The produce is always fresh and the owners are really lovely people. Plus, they are one of the few grocers in the area that stock common Korean ingredients beyond just kimchee and seaweed that I need which means one less trip into K-town!

Best produce in the neighborhood, no contest. Not a huge selection - you'll have to go elsewhere to find something like collard greens - but what they have is always prime, always good. And the Lees are friendly and seem to enjoy making their customers happy. I was slightly disappointed when they expanded/remodeled and the aisles stayed as narrow as always, but use care and you'll maneuver around just fine.

Love this place. They have a great selection of Chinese and Japanese ingredients--some of which can be hard to find.

I have to agree with the people who say that the produce is exceptional. The owners really know what they're doing -- they don't mist the produce, they throw away the bad stuff, it's always fresh, they don't refrigerate the tomatoes (always a telltale sign when a place refrigerates the tomatoes, that they don't know what they're doing). And they are super friendly.
