The Bailey’s Hotel London (London, UK) 15 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There are all kinds of hotels in London, from hypermodern luxury towers to edgy hipster boutiques. But sometimes you’re in the mood for the classics — and for those times, nothing less than a Victorian-era townhouse in South Kensington will quite do. Well, as you may have gathered, if that’s what you’re after, you’re in luck, because that’s a description that suits the Bailey’s Hotel London to a tee." - Tablet Hotels

We had a fabulous experience at the Bailey's Hotel in London. The location is perfect--across from the Underground; 10 minute walk to the V&A; 15 to Kensington Palace. When we arrived, we were greeted by the charming Sumina at the front desk. When we realized our room was a bit small (the Classic Room), she went out of her way to find us an upgrade-- with a smile. She went out of her way to personally show us the room. The room was perfect and the King-size bed super comfortable. Our room was super quiet! We had snacks and drinks in the cocktail lounge one night and it was lovely. We only had breakfast in the hotel one morning and it was adequate. There are so many breakfast venues in the area. Another round of applause to the concierge, Magic. He was immensely helpful and quick with suggestions. In short, we look forward to staying at the Bailey's on our next visit to London!

The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The location is convenient to everything. The room was clean and quiet. It was also quite small, but typical for London. Minors complaints are that we would have liked more lighting in the room. The bathroom was relatively large and nice, but the tub/shower had a 3 foot edge to climb over. We are almost 80 years old so taking a shower was a bit daunting. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

I am going to write an honest review. I had an afternoon tea there with my friends yesterday (27 September 2025). My first impression of the hotel was really nice and classy, and would have expected a good quality service but unfortunately this was not to be. Although the cakes and drinks including coffee were very nice which met the standards as expected, but the sandwiches were terrible and way below standards from this kind of hotel. All bread were white, no brown, and were dry as well as tasteless and not moist enough. This is more akin to value sandwiches from budget supermarkets. The scones were also rather dry and not as fresh as it should have been. So overall, as with sandwiches and scones, these would have been very much like as seen at cheap back street cafes! Only the cakes were of a standard as expected being very nice.

Perfectly located 10-15 minute walks from Kensington Gardens and Palace and tube station just across the street with access to the Piccadilly, Circle, and District lines allowing easy access to numerous sites and activities within a quick 10-20 minutes tube ride. Many near by options for dining including two restaurants and a bar on site. There is also 24/7 in room service if you feel like staying in after a long day of exploring. Hotel itself is beautiful maintaining much of the charming characteristics dating back to its origin in the mid 1800’s. Rooms are in impeccable condition being updated while keeping all of their character. Staff are very friendly and attentive to all of your needs. We would definitely consider staying at the Baileys Hotel again if planning any future travel to London. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

I would highly recommend this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. We were pleasantly surprised to have our room upgraded free of charge, thanks to the kindness and generosity of the duty manager, Rajes. It really made our stay feel extra special, and we couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome.

We had a most lovely stay from Sept 24 2025 for 5 nights. We absolutely wanted for nothing. Our room was expertly cleaned ever daywith all the needed necessities.|The staff was dressed like door and footmen from the castle and opened the door by hand coming in or going out. We had high tea one afternoom and enjoyed the experience greatly. Every staff member went over and above in service and smiles. One in particular (Gabriel Bornardes) loved his job and loved sharing life with a smile on his face and an interest in us that was infectious to all that came in contact with him. We would recommend this hotel, this staff and for sure Gabriel B to anyone. We will return!!!!

I had a wonderful stay at The Bailey’s Hotel on Gloucester Road. The location is unbeatable — right next to the tube station, with plenty of cafes, museums, and shops just a short walk away. The building itself is beautiful, with charming Victorian architecture and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. My room was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated, and the bed was incredibly cozy after a day of sightseeing. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help, which made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting London.

Yelp
Stayed here many times, conveniently located to several shops, restaurants, and museums, it's the oldest hotel in London and the staff is extremely pleasant. I love how they have single rooms. It used to be a great deal, but prices have gone up immensely in the last year or two.

Yelp
excellent location, tube stop right across the street, many restaurants, bars, coffee shops and stores in every direction, very easy walk to just about anything you'd need.

Yelp
Smallest room and tiny bathroom. Good breakfast and comfortable beds. Excellent WiFi.

Yelp
I enjoyed a 2-night stay here as a solo traveller in September 2023. A big plus is the location in South Kensington (across from the Gloucester Road tube stop) with nearby stores, restaurants, coffee shops, and supermarkets (Waitrose market is just inside the Gloucester Arcade next to the tube stop). It's also a 10-minute walk to the Victoria & Albert Museum and about a 15 minute walk to Kensington Gardens (a lovely public park). Lots of pluses. 1. First, it's a historic, elegant Victorian hotel built in the 1870s and restored in the 1990s. The nicest part of the hotel is the grand interior staircase. One plus is that an elevator (lift) is available if you're staying on the upper floors. 2. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated with a small desk. However, the classic double room is quite small. I stayed in Room 137 (overlooking the tube station) and it felt like a studio apartment in New York City). If you don't mind cozy spaces, this is a good option for a short stay. 3. You have a simple temperature control gauge in your room next to the front door. If it's a hot summer day, be sure to turn up the A/C. In London, I noticed folks tend not to use A/C as much as in the United States. There were a few minuses as well. Given the small-sized interior rooms and bathroom (well-designed but tiny), I don't think it's great for families (with kids) or large groups. Also, at check-in, the hotel staff could be clear about the 50 pound deposit for incidentals, and explain that you need to put your key in the slot near your hotel room door to activate all the lights.

Yelp
Had to stay here on short notice and it worked out great. Very nice rooms, beds were terrific - the standard double room is a bit small, not couch, had a sitting chair but could not get the desk chair out at the same time....oh well. People were friendly, the bar folks were terrific, we didnt eat in the hotel should cant comment.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay at the Bailey hotel. We were in London for ten days to see the Chelsea Flower Show and to be tourists. The hotel has a terrific location, right adjacent to the Gloucester Road tube station so immediate access to the District and Circle lines and a few stop from Paddington Station and the Heathrow Express. The hotel is similar to the row house neighborhood surrounding it. Older and beautifully decorated in classic old London elegance. Our room was spacious, quiet, comfortable and the bath was new and well appointed. Our room could have used more storage and more seating. We had packed for a ten day stay and needed far more drawers and hangers to put our clothes away than was available. There was only one modestly comfortable desk chair and, since there was two of us, a second comfortable chair would have made our stay much more pleasant. We asked for hangers and did get a few delivered but our requests for more were rebuffed by the night desk clerk. She rolled her eyes and explained that to get more would short change other guests. I assume that means there is a national shortage of coat hangers and they are closely rationed.

Yelp
Location wise this hotel is in such a good spot. Firstly , it is located in beautiful Kensington, in just walking around the area, your eyes can feast in all the pretty buildings. Secondly, it has the underground across the street which made it super convenient when we went to explore central London. The inside of the hotel is a mixture of elegance and comfort and while the hotel is old, everything is updated. Beautiful front stairs and seating area in the front. The doors men were helpful and friendly. The staff in the reception were nice but can be very snobbish. We had someone come upstairs to help us with telling us how to operate the light ( I know it sounds simple but it was tricky since we didn't know we had to place the key in to make it work). The guy who came to help us made us feel absolutely stupid. Corrected us a couple times with such snobbish attitude but I completely ignored it. It did not spoil my stay but instead of extending it for 3 more days, we decided to travel to Windsor instead. The beds were comfy and so were the pillows. Toiletries were eh-ok. With what we pay I would have prefer nicer products. Parking, next door there's a car park belonging to the neighboring hotel but it's a hefty $50.

Yelp
I plan to stay here again. It's luxurious but not a big-hotel-chain feel. The staff are super friendly and helpful!

Yelp
Decor is beautiful! But otherwise the front desk receptionist was really rude and seemed irritated by my questions. None of my outlets worked to charge my devices, and I called the front desk and the same rude lady said she would send maintenance and they never showed. Attached restaurant and bar- again, the decor is gorgeous. But no healthy options, went with some egg rolls while I was doing work and they were super plain and no flavor. Def won't be staying here again. If the outlets worked I would have given it a 4 but that was really a bummer.

Yelp
Pretty bad experience. Booked a single bed, requested a double online. When I got to the hotel they tried to charge me an additional 150 euros per night and said it was Negotiable!!! They told us they have two rooms left. Most other hotels would change a room from a single to a double for free. Once they said no I asked for a roller bed. THEY SAID THERE WAS A CHARGE FOR THAT. Look elsewhere this hotel is awful.

Yelp
Service was great upon check-in and it is centrally located across London. Easy access to alot of spots. Get the breakfast package as it is a delicious breakfast. Additionally, I really enjoyed the hotel bar.

Mark C.

Yelp
Do not stay here! Beds are uncomfortable. Much of the staff is incompetent and can't seem to handle the most basic requests. A rodent was spotted in the restaurant loo. They misplaced my clothes when we changed rooms. We asked for a wake-up call, which never happened. The first floor hallway smelled like a compost heap.

Yelp
Older hotel in a convenient location. The building is quite old but inside, it's decor is up kept and very updated . Extremely clean, and antique interior gives it the charm one might expect. The unexpected was entering our hotel Room and noticing a strange smell( as if someone used the toilet and didn't bother to flush it). If you like your AC, please put it on right away and bring a air fresher . Cause, child, the smell made me afraid of Entering the toilet room. My brave soul with Jesus on my side gave me the guts to go inside. SURPRISE! Bathroom was clean! Sparkling clean. Zestfully clean! Shower was very good with warm water. I recommend this hotel for a last Resort of plans are you're using it a s crash pad. Breakfast ran about $50US Per person. stuff your face but do it with class. Enjoy!

Jon C.

Yelp
Staff were wonderful, very helpful. Room was nice, updated, quiet. Breakfast buffet was exceptional. Great location, very convenient.

Richard C.

Yelp
AWFUL! SCAMMERS BEWARE Firstly, the staff don't know what they're doing. They deliberately took my payment twice, and only by chance did they admit to it (as I was checking out). The manger (Berry) didn't even offer an apology until I asked for one. The rooms are basic at best, my bureau was smeared in what looked like years-old hair lacquer. At 10am on the day of my departure I was disturbed by staff asking when I was leaving (check out is noon). The only good think I can say about this place is that it's close to the subway station and museums.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stay and found the location to be great. The tube stop across the street was less than 150 feet from front door and there was plenty of good restaurants close by. We walked several mornings to south Kensington and found a nice selection of good places for breakfast. The room was very comfortable and a good size.

Yelp
This was a pretty good hotel to stay in for business travel. Again, for North Americans, these are small rooms you'll find in hotels in Europe due to the age of the buildings (1800's or even earlier), and this particular stay I had a really small room. I had a single bed and looked out over a back alley. Ample space for 1 person and I wasn't in the hotel room much at all except to sleep and get ready in the morning. The hotel is certainly attractive and beautifully kept up. I would give this 4 stars based on the accommodations, but I didn't particularly find the staff to be super helpful. They didn't explain that breakfast was part of the room charge so I went out for breakfast, and they didn't explain the amenities the hotel had (like the lounge). The lobby is small and wasn't conducive for my colleague and I to unwind after a day at the office and after most of the pubs closed so we ended up trying to find late night places to go rather than just relax in the lounge. This hotel is right across the street from the Gloucester Road tube station which was very convenient to get to our London office in Hammersmith. There are also coffee shops and cafes directly across the street, and is also a close walk to the area surrounding the South Kensington tube station meaning you can walk to many of the museums in that area. However, it's not conveniently close to walk to much else except Hyde Park. I like long walks so I still made my way around many places by foot, but for those not accustomed to it, you may need to route places to go via the tube. I'd be content to stay here again for sure!

Yelp
Loved this quaint, pretty hotel in Kensington. Stylishly restored with its Victorian features it is a beautiful hotel. The lobby, bar, breakfast room, hotel rooms were smartly decorated and cozy. Location was awesome! Away from the crowds, it was right next to the Gloucester Tube station so I would cross the street and would hop on and go to my favorite places like Covent Garden, Notting Hill, Piccadilly. Lots of restaurants and shops. Grocery right in front to get snacks and water. They give you complimentary bottle of water every day. They have different outlet types so guests coming from all over the world can plug their appliances. Looked forward to breakfast everyday. Love English breakfast with stewed tomatoes, sausages, bacon, eggs plus variety of cereal, breads, cheeses and pastries. They even give you a personal pot of tea or coffee depending on what you order. Free toiletries always a plus in their well stocked bathrooms. Spacious and welcoming hotel and rooms with free satellite TV, you can even check your flight status on your TV. Loved my room it was cozy for a solo traveler. Clean and modern! Great service and helpful staff. I arrived late from Amsterdam but there was a note to check me in early so my room was ready and I didn't have to wait! Awesome and lovely hotel! Five stars!

Yelp
Mu fiancé and I were invited to London by my parents who booked this hotel as they thought it looked beautiful - it was a last minute booking of three rooms so prices were high roughly 1750 euro for three nights per room. My fiancé and I arrived an hour earlier to the hotel than the rest of my family as we flew out of different cities. Upon arrival we wanted to check into our room, but the reception would not let us into the room unless we payed for the three nights right away. I explained that we were invited by my parents who would be arriving an hour later and they would then take care of the payment. Still we were denied access to our room. The two other rooms were already paid for, so we asked if we could just get into one of them instead. This time we were told that we needed to pay a deposit to enter the room, and that this deposited had to be made with the same card that was used for paying the room. Again, that was not possible as it was all payed by my parents. After sitting in the lobby for 40 minutes, my fiancé went up to the desk and demanded that we got into our room. Here another receptionist heard what was going on, and came over and explained that the receptionist who originally had helped us was not aware that the card used for the deposit did not need to be that same as the one paying for the hotel. We finally got our key for room 517. Let me start by saying the pictures are deceiving! Generally speaking the hotel is old and outdated. However, our room was so dirty with long black hairs everywhere in our room (I do not have black hair and my fiancé is bald), all over the toilet seat was very yellow dries piss with paper in the toilet, and more black hair by the sink. There was a stuffy and sour smell in the room coming from the sewerage in the bathroom, so we wanted to open up the window and air it out. Only to find out that the windows are bolted, and all we could do was turning on the most noisy AC. We asked for a room clean when we went for dinner, and when we came back surly someone had cleaned the toilet but that was about it. We still found ball of dust in every corner of the room and even a little hair all. We asked for a thorough vacuum of the room, it the ball of hair was never removed. The headboard over the bed was disgusting and looked like someone had been biting in it (that was the same in all of the three rooms my family was staying in). The walls were dirty and had make-up stains, coffee and something unidentified yet sticky on them. I spend 45 minute scrubbing down the walls (great vacation). The breakfast at the hotel was what can be expected of a hotel that has not managed to keep up with times. Dry, boring and uninspired, while the room in which we ate breakfast always looked messy and dirty. One night we had dinner in the restaurant which actually was decent. However, we were charged 2£ per person simply for sitting in the room? An absurdity I've never heard off before. The hotel bar shut at 23.00 so don't expect to come back to the hotel after dinner for a nightcap. Lastly, upon check out I was informed that the deposits my parents had put down for the three rooms would be returned to them after seven days?!? What a combiner way to borrow our money - completely unacceptable. My only advice to you is to stay away from this place.

Yelp
Management is a joke. AC was broken and we were put into a new room at 10 PM with our kids. Were forced to relocate the next day on the spot since the new room was booked. Were promised free breakfast for our trouble , the next morning told only our kids could eat free for one single day since what we were saying "could not be verified" by the night manager. The new room had a broken shower drain. We're told repeatedly that our claims "would need to be verified." Paid $600 / night to be repeatedly treated like we were liars. The 3 managers were very rude and refused to apologize (kept saying they would need to verify our story) until threatened we would post a bad review.

Yelp
Good price, great location, little attention to detail. Spending 2 weeks in London I wanted a hotel that was convenient to work and play with good light, bigger than a bread box room and not breaking the bank. The Bailey. Delivered all of that. I booked a Club Room which came with free internet access and breakfast and requested a high floor with good light. Although my room was not ready when I arrived after 5PM, I was offered a drink in the bar while I waited. Good customer service so far. The room #542 was surprisingly big and airy with room to breath. Two large windows, a fold out love seat and king size bed together with a small closet and two sets of drawers. I've stayed in much nicer and much smaller in London but for the price, this was just right. The bathroom was also good size for two to move around and well flowing drains. As usual, there's little storage space or counter to store your tools of the trade. Cleaning service was a bit off. Some days I would return to all fresh towels even though I had the used nicely hung. Other days some would be replaced and others removed. I came in more than one day to find no face clothes. The bed was always made but trash remained and even some dirty glasses that were clearly dirty. There was no attention to detail. Room, concierge and laundry service available for your convenience. However, the food was not great. Breakfast every morning was in the hotel restaurant, Olive and consisted, without fail: scrambled and poached eggs, ham and eggs, has browns, steamed tomatoes and mushrooms, select Asian bits, breads, cereals, fruit and yogurt. I did not expect much and was not disappointed. Dinner in Olives as well at the room service from there was marginally bad. Lets put it this way, I'll stay at Bailey's again but not pay extra for any breakfast or eat in Olives. Not worth it. One other point of dismay was a tour bus booked through the front desk on a personal credit card. The next thing I know, the room bill has been charged to that card and not the corporate card originally used and approved for the room. While this did not hinder my trip, it certainly could to others. Where' the attention here? When I realized their mistake a few days later, they were quick to issue a refund and charge the correct card which was good. However, it should not have happened in the first place. Will I stay here again? You bet ya but I'll make sure it's a deal, I get a top floor room and I will not eat on the property. There's plenty of great food on the block. Try Nando's and Bryon's to name two.

Yelp
I stayed at The Baileys hotel two years ago and very much enjoyed my stay. Upon returning to London I looked forward to spending part of my time at the Baileys, only to be incredibly aggravated and disappointed. Arriving after a lovely week in Bath, once there was a doorman, and I now found myself dragging my luggage in myself. The night manager Sab frantically ran to his post saying he'd been waiting for me, and then asked what my name was. I could barely understand his English and found myself in a difficult conversation. He was unable to work the computer, dropping paperwork fumbling about and then spoke about an arrow on the computer screen. Arrow I said? He then repeated arrow multiple times until I realized he was trying to tell me there was an error. Which I as the guest didn't need to know, he was new to the screen that had come up and this had nothing to do with my reservation. Then he asked for my credit card and said " I'm going to put "like" $50 dollars on i it" when I asked him why he told me in case I have some room service. ?!?!? What?!?! No I said I would just like to go to my room. Then he asked if I booked on Expedia. No I said. After he continued to tell me I did I pulled up my reservation on my phone, no apologies, just repeating the screen said expedia. I then told him to check the date because that was from 2 years ago. Frankly I was shocked he was even at the front desk let alone in a management position. Andrew the gentleman who brought my luggage to my room was lovely. I was on the first floor overlooking the underground. The room was tiny, but it is London so that is fine. The doors in the room were banged up and in need of repair and paint, I was surprised by this. The bathroom incredibly small and shower water made its way into the bathroom floor. The towels while large were like sandpaper, awful. The towel warmer made for hot sandpaper. The sink is set up so any woman would not be able to wash her face in the sink. Bring you towelettes if you are booked here. The hotel is loud as inner fire doors used by guests slam open and shut in the night. The mattress slanted down and and I could've reached springs creaking beneath me. The sheets have also been downgraded marking for a crispy sleep. I phoned the desk in the morning and asked if they could print out a direction for me and I would come down in 30 minutes when Leaving to pick it up. No I will email it to you, said the long brown haired woman. No?? I want it printed as my phone on the tube does not get reception. I came down an hour later and she hadn't done it stating I didn't want an email! It was a pleasure to be away from the awful staff here at the hotel. I was never greeted upon any arrival or departure during my stay. Upon my last evening I arrived and wanted to shower. I had used the soap and shower gel and they had restocked my room with lotion all lotion and no soap. Another call and 30 minutes later shower gel arrived. I decided to order room service from the after hours menu it was 10:15. Our kitchen is closed madam. What? It says 10:15 to 6:00 am? You have an old menu. I managed to order a pasta which was excellent and cooked perfectly. The breadsticks were excellent as well. You cannot get wine unless you order a bottle . I put my tv on to drown out some hallway noise. The room phone rings, it's a man and I have no idea what he is saying and he hangs up. He calls again, it is Sab the night manager ( I had to ask if it was him because he can barely be understood) he told me he was trying to call another room and didn't no why he kept getting me. Arrow I'm thinking ( haha) Now the tv shuts down and won't go back on and Sab calls a 3rd time. It's now 11:30 at night he just can't figure it out with his non existent management skills , lack of common sense and NO Manners!!! I then call down downstairs stairs to tell him the tv is not working he has no idea why but can get someone to my room within an hour ( idiot!!!) At this point I l him he is clearly in the wrong business and tell him about my frustrations. He said hold on he needed paper to write the complaints down. I asked him if he was going to write down my complaints about him. His response, well madam it doesn't really matter what you say because they know I'm new. If you are coming to London their are so many lovely places to stay. The Baileys hotel is no longer one of them. This once elegant establishment has been strewn in blue and white Christmas lights ( and not in a good way) that in February look ridiculous ( I was told they were for Chinese New Year ) They are trying to make the hotel something it's not they have cut corners and the sophisticated gem this was is no more. . What a shame!!!

Yelp
We have stayed at The Bailey's several times over the past few years. We have recommended friends to stay there, and they have done so with great enjoyment. Our most recent stay at The Bailey's was the worst stay ever at that hotel, and possibly the worst stay ever at any hotel. Simply stated, service was nonexistent. Some examples: 1. The U.K. required COVID-19 PCR tests two days after arrival and eight days after arrival. Furthermore, returning to the U.S.A. required a COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure. We looked online and there were 412 locations in London that provided the required PCR test. We called The Bailey's to see if they knew which of the 412 locations were nearby. They merely referred us to the Web site that showed the 412 locations. No help whatsoever, and this set the tone for our stay. 2. When we checked into the hotel for a six-day stay, our room had three hangers in the closet, no hair dryer, a non-working room phone, and only a nightstand, making it impossible for two people to unpack. 3. When we visited the main desk--remember, no working room phone--we were given instructions on how to find the hair dryer and how to use the room phone. Neither worked. 4. After three visits by the "engineer," he was unable to repair the room phone, even after a replacement phone was installed. We told him to "give up." 5. We were eventually provided with a hair dryer. The plug would not work with any outlet in the bathroom. 6. After four separate requests to clean the room, we eventually found a pile of clean towels on the bed and an envelope of instant coffee and creamer on a shelf in the room. No used towels or linens were removed from the room, nor were any additional soaps or toiletries provided. I guess that was this hotel's definition of their response to "Please clean the room." 7. Apparently, the room rate included breakfast. Our first and only breakfast began with us being seated by the host at a table for a while with no service whatsoever. After a complaint, the host himself brought us coffee. Following that, we were treated to a selection of seemingly ancient and unappetizing buffet choices. Finally, scrambled eggs were delivered to our table. We went to the servers' station and removed the coffee pot ourselves to get our second cup of coffee. No one--no one at all--came to our table to see it we needed anything during our first breakfast. We paid to have the remaining breakfasts at other locations in the area. 8. Despite our wonderful experiences with the hotel restaurant in previous years, the current incarnation of the restaurant is Bugis Street Brasserie, a Thai-inspired restaurant that might be wonderful, but was probably attractive to a much more limited audience and excluded us. In short, this was a horrible hotel stay. We will never return to The Bailey's and we hope this review will help other travelers to avoid our miserable experience.

Yelp
This is a Boutique Hotel part of a larger chain, and the family rooms are enormous which cater for all of your needs. There is a permanent doorman who greets you and goes out of his way to get to know you and your family. Very informative and helpful. The included breakfast is English Breakfast that will not leave you wanting. You are staying in a lovely part of London, The Tube at Gloucester Station with direct routes to Heathrow, just directly out your doorstep, Hire Bikes outside, Starbucks, Sushi shops, and a fantastic supermarket. I loved it!

Yelp
Terrific hotel. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I like the location. A tube station is just across the street, so getting anywhere in London is so easy and quick. Tour buses stop right outside, so they're easy to arrange. The rooms are nice, but on the smallish side. The bathroom was terrific. The restaurant is quite good. Prices were very reasonable. But again, the staff is excellent. They make a real effort to make your stay pleasant. I WILL stay here again.

Yelp
I'm surprised at the number of 4 and 5 star ratings given this hotel. We recently completed a stay of several days at the Millennium Baileys, and honestly I can not give it more than 3.5 stars. Let's start with the good: Location, location, location! This hotel has a great location for visiting London. As mentioned by others, across the street from a tube station. And across the street from a bus stop that includes one of the hop-on / hop-off sightseeing bus companies. There are two grocery stores across the street as well for stocking up your room with adult beverages and snacks. There are a large choice of restaurants within 10 minute walk. And very easy walk to several of the big museums and Hyde park. Hotel bar is also very nice. They have a popular happy hour and is a nice place for an afternoon refreshment. The staff were always very polite and curteous and helpful. Now the not so good: The rooms are very so-so, and a bit dated. The beds are very hard...not firm, which I like, but hard as a rock. The toilets take about 5 minutes for the water tank to fill between flushes. Could never get a washcloth re-supplied. And yes, the rooms are clean as mentioned by others...but seriously are we now supposed to give "bonus points" for a hotel keeping the room clean? That's to be expected! The breakfast buffet is nice that they have and can include in the room rate, but after several days we found the buffet to be very repetitious and the food very average. No variety in the buffet offerings from day to day...the same exact oferings every single days, and limited at that. Overall, the stay here was okay. I would not really recommend the Millennium Baileys, but neither would I say to avoid it. It is not a bad option for the reasons given above.

Yelp
4 stars for the hotel property, 1 star for the hotel staff. The hotel is in a decent area and has reasonably modern amenities. However the staff and service was really bad. And bad in a weird way... I've never been in a hotel that didn't clean the room on a daily basis. We stayed for 1 week and our room was only cleaned 4 of these days. Consequently, we didn't have toilet paper some nights, our bed wasnt made, we didn't have water bottles in our room to drink, or have clean washcloths and towels to use -- the list goes on. As an American, I'm used to hotel rooms being cleaned 1-2x per day, so this was a bit odd. Because our room wasn't cleaned, we had to constantly call down to have the items I previously mentioned delivered to our room. When we confronted the Manager, he said that he'd need to "investigate" and implied he didn't believe our experience. If you're a solo traveler looking for something clean and basic and don't care about having your room cleaned regularly - this is a good spot. But, if you're looking for a nice vacation, worry-free business trip, or relaxing time with your family, I wouldn't recommend this place. The lack of housekeeping and way the management handled our situation we're more indicative of a 2 or 3 star hotel and not things a guest should have to deal with.

Yelp
Literally you can not find anything negative. 1- Clean 2-Good service 3-Great location ( subway station is 20 steps from the hotel!!! And there is no noise and no disturbance from the subway. Feel comfortable to use the subway for airport transportation.) 4- Good breakfast ( great quality but not too many varieties). 5- Had an umbrella for rainy days.

Yelp
We stayed at Bailey's Hotel for 5nights. The good: - Hotel has lots of character - Very close to transportation. Tube and bus stop across the street - Central location. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby - Rooms are spacious - Great staff and customer service - Free breakfast buffet with room rate - Club room has an assortment of free drinks and snacks!!!! Pro Tip: The club room appears to be locked but can be opened by sliding your room key between the door crack to open the lock The Bad: - Construction during the day. Can't sleep in - The bath tub is really high and can be treacherous when getting out after shower - The toilet is extremely hard to flush. Pro Tip: You will need to push down the knob three times and the third time hold it down for a full flush - The sink has separate hot and cold faucets. So no warm water for you - The sink faucet water pressure is low. You will need to collect water in your palm for a while - Two mushy twin mattresses are put together to make an imitation of a king size bed. No Bueno if you are honeymooners Despite the bad, we really enjoyed the hotel. The charm, historic atmosphere and friendly service won us over. Also that club room filled with free goodies is awesome!

Yelp
Very courteous and attentive staff and concierge. Rooms are clean and orderly. You get the traditional London feel right when you walk into the lobby. The luxury family room is pretty large for London standards and the shower comes with a fountain head and a handheld shower as well. If your room comes with breakfast, the breakfast staff provide EXCELLENT service and will bring you tea, coffee, or cappuccinos and the breakfast is buffet. There was one waitress who was always in a pleasant smiley mood no matter how crowded it was. They serve the same thing everyday for breakfast though and the menu consists of scrambled eggs, sunny side up eggs, Canadian bacon, beans, tomatoes, sausage, yogurt, fruit, fruit juice, bread, deli meat, pastries (!!!!!), and more. There's also a menu from which you can order a la carté. Oh and free newspapers everyday in the lobby. The only weird thing about this hotel was that for a room for four people, they only provided three showering towels. We even tipped extra and asked for one extra towel but it was never given to us once during our 8 night stay. We would also ask for more complimentary bottles of water and tip extra but never got even one more extra bottle of water either. For the price we paid per night, they could have definitely at least given us enough towels for all our guests. However THE BEST PART OF ALL of this hotel is that ITS RIGHT NEXT TO THE TUBE with easy access to the Piccadilly, green, and Victoria lines. It makes traveling throughout London SO EASY!! Overall, we loved our stay except for the weird towel situation, and will gladly recommend The Baileys Hotel to others.

Yelp
The hotel is impressive, but crikey the location is (in the lingua franca of my cockney counterparts) PROPER fancy, innit! Location: Lovely, lovely part of London (Kensington area). The tube station is right across the road, which is very handy. Price: It ranges (checking out the prices yourself is a good idea!) Decor and ambiance : Again, I use the word lovely. The hotel itself is quite pretty and goldeny and shiney (not sure if shiney is what people go for in a hotel, I always find it a plus myself!!!) Food: Breakfast was great...they had a chinese buffet, and for some reason beyond my understanding, jelly beans beside the pancakes... All in all, it's a lovely place to stay, but it doesn't have all the added ammenities such as a swimming pool or spa. Also, they make you pay (rediculous rates) for wi-fi...given that we are well into the Millennium (ziingggggggggg!), it seems silly that guests should have to pay so much for use of the ol' interwebs!.

Yelp
Classic London architecture, cozy room, warm and friendly service. My travel agent gave me a choice between the Millenium Baileys and the Millenium Gloucester next door. She said that the Gloucester was more modern. I didn't want to sell myself short by losing out on the true London experience, so I opted for Baileys. It's located steps away from the Gloucester Road Underground Station, a Tesco (convenience store, kind of like a 7-11), a handful of pubs, and one of the double decker tor stops. A marvelous location! Based on it's architecture and layout, the Baileys seems to be a converted apartment building. It has the beautiful black iron railings, window planters, brick exterior, and intricate molding that is so uniquely London. From the momeny my cab pulled up, a doorman was there to immediately grab my bags and open the door for me. The receptionist gave me a few suggestions on places to eat and shop. She also handed me a few brochures for the Underground system and the bus tours. Score! The room itself was the most spacious (approx. 300 sq. ft) that I had in my three-country tour of Europe. We paid 20 pounds per night to upgrade to this larger room and it was worth it. There was a queen sized bed, a desk, and lots of drawer space. There was also a very spacious closet. The window was propped open with a bent toothbrush, which I thought was pretty funny. I brought the wrong plug adapter (mine only worked for all other countries in Europe except England) but thankfully, the room had one American plug - whew! Thanks Brits! We Americans must do this all the time... Even the bathroom had personality - a ceramic pedestal sink, a narrow raised bathtub with attached shower head. I seriously had to learn how to flush the toilets in Europe - they have levers that release water as long as they are being pressed, so you have to sit there holding the lever for a few seconds, which is a bit awkward. The lobby of the Bailey's is connected to a lounge that featured nightly live music. There was a jazz band when I was there. I never ate in the lounge because it was pricey, but it's nice to have the option. It's also quite affordable. It's priced like a 3 star but feels almost like a 4 star, especially because of the service. I never had to lift a finger while I was there, not even to open my own door to enter or leave the hotel. And the fact that they're across the street from the Underground gave my husband and I the confidence to explore all over London until 12:30am (when the underground stops running). I absolutely loved it. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I left a piece of my heart with you, London. I'll be back one day, maybe permanently :)

Yelp
Overall - 3.5 stars Walking into the hotel, you can definitely tell why people might call Millennium Bailey's a 4 star hotel - with a nice lobby, plenty of staff and grand exterior. Overall the rooms are a good size, clean with full, in-room private bathrooms. The most important qualities for me! I would recommend the hotel but people should take into the consideration the pros, cons and tips below: Some pros: * Several restaurant options across the street (a few fast food and sit down choices). * Starbucks and café with Illy coffee across the street. * Across the street from Gloucester Tube station. * Lots of taxis drive by. * 24-hr mini grocery store across the street, Tesco Express, where we bought water, drinks and snacks. * In room mini-fridge. * Standard rooms have full sized beds, which are more like American king sized beds. * Safe neighborhood. But some cons: * No free in-room Wi-Fi for standard rooms.* * Rooms in the back wing!! Ask to stay near the elevators if you have kids or a lot of luggage. You will be happy that you don't have to lug your suitcases up and down weird stairs to get to your room. * Although nice and friendly, the Concierge and Front Desk people don't know much about where to eat, how long it takes to get somewhere, and typical tourist questions. * Creaky floors. * Although it's right next to the Gloucester Tube station, there were several stops before getting to the touristy sights of London. The Tube is not nearly as quick as the Paris Metro, so being 8 stops from something can seem like an eternity on the hot Tube. It made it hard to stop by the hotel to drop things off during the day or take a break, since if we came all the way back, we ended up staying at the hotel for longer. *No free in-room Wi-Fi is a very important item for me. It is available in your room, but for £25/day, unless you upgrade your room to a larger one! There is free Wi-Fi in the lobby but it's SUPER inconvenient to keep going downstairs to look things up. I didn't realize how important this was, until we were there and didn't have cell phone coverage to look things up on Trip Advisor, Yelp or Google Maps. Millennium Bailey's is a highly rated hotel, where we paid a good amount to stay at. Why not spring for free Wi-Fi for everyone? It should be expected in such a nice hotel and extremely disappointing to see 2-star hotels down the street offering it for free. Overall, the hotel seemed nice on the surface but was old if you got a room in the 2nd part of the hotel. The plumbing and air conditioning was old. I wouldn't necessarily agree with the others and call this a value hotel ($180/night) but was a lot nicer than some hotels I've seen online. This would not be a good choice for someone on business since the Wi-Fi is limited, and would not necessarily be a great choice for those wanting to do a lot of tourist things in the center of the City since it takes over 20 minutes to get there on the Tube. Tip: Ask to be close to the elevator (avoid rooms where you need to climb a few stairs to get to your room); Ask to face Gloucester St.

Yelp
Stayed here twice over the holidays - each for a two-night stay. The location is FABULOUS. It is right outside the Gloucester Road tube station (as you are exiting, take a right and the hotel is right there. I took a left and went the long way...). So five stars for location. It's also walking distance to Harrod's, Hyde Park and, well, depending your definition of "walking distance", even Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey (well, I walked it). We had different rooms each stay - one was much larger than other. Both were comfortable. The only not great part was the bathroom - particularly the sink. There were separate hot and cold water spouts and they didn't extend very far so even washing hands was a little awkward. Our room rate included breakfast and it was a very nice spread - including Nutella! Mmmmm...Nutella... Though if it's not in your room rate - it's pretty pricey - 14 or 16 pounds, I think. And even I won't pay that for all-you-can-eat Nutella.

Yelp
We just stayed at the Bailey's from 9/30-10/5 on the recommendation of two of my other friends who stayed there two different times over the past year We had a FANTASTIC time!! Excellent service and very kind staff. We had stayed one night in a typical european room (small for American standards) and when we returned after sight seeing there was a tiny leak coming from the ceiling closest to the window. There had just been a torrential downpour! I called just to inform the front desk and next thing I know they send a maintenance man, the concierge herself comes to check, then sends the housekeeper! The front desk asked if we'd like another room and arranged for one immediately without my even asking. This room was even bigger and was just down the hall. They then sent 4 people to help us move! Talk about customer service! The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Honestly I don't know what other reviewers are talking about when they complain about it. We can not say enough about the excellent service and kindness the staff showed us. Joan and Alex were lovely and really demonstrated that they cared about their job and guests (including little kids). I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!!

Yelp
Looks like they are listed in two spots so posting it in both. Stayed here last fall and had a great stay. Pros: HUGE room Comfy big bed Beautiful interior Air conditioned Lots of great spots near the hotel to grab snacks or dinner Across from the tube (which has an elevator for some lines - helpful when you have a stroller) Super friendly staff - they were always available and helpful when we had questions plus they always helped us pick up the stroller to bring it into the hotel We got a great deal with free WiFI Old English hotel Cons: Was a bit tricky getting out of the bathtub - it was really high - and I felt like I would slip so just be careful. Overall, would stay here again!

Yelp
Loved staying here. Stayed one week with my young son and we had a great stay. The neighborhood is great, two wonderful grocers, the tube, right at your door. We had a lovely view and it was surprisingly quiet, not silent by any means, but not disruptive. Never heard a peep from other rooms or hallways. The staff is professional, but if you want info or interaction they are friendly. Lodging in London is expensive and can be hard to book a nice place, We stayed for about $125 USD per night(Feb/March 2011), what a bargain, it is worth more.

Yelp
The hotel has a pretty interior, the rooms are totally European standard -- small but serviceable, and the mattress is comfy. The staff was not particularly friendly, and the breakfast is ridiculously overpriced, but there's always the Starbucks across the street for something more appropriate and equally easy. The location is super convenient to the tube and to some very nice restaurants -- I highly recommend the Prince Regent down the road. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again, but I wouldn't avoid it either if they were having a good deal on rates (as they often are).

Yelp

Yelp
Bottom Line: The hotel is clean, well managed and is across from the Gloucester tube station and near a great collection of pubs, restaurants and bars. The hotel is a great value (for London) especially if you can score a room at a discount off of kayak.com as we did. Breakfast was included in our deal (not sure if it's standard) but WiFi in the rooms is extra. Room My mother and I (I took her for her first trip to Europe) stayed in a two twin bed room on the first floor. The room was very spacious and featured a large bathroom. It was nicely furnished and comfortable with a good selection of TV channels, a desk and even a seating area. Rooms are classically decorated with dark wood furniture and comfortable beds. WiFi is extra however and it can be hard to sleep at night since the neighborhood can get lively, which can be a good thing. Location The location is hard to beat for the price. It's across the street from the Gloucester Road tube station, making it easy to get to most of London's tourist attractions within 20 minutes. There there are a number of bars and restaurants within walking distance and taxis are plentiful. The neighborhood is safe and busy -the equivalent of Georgetown in DC or Westwood in LA. It's also close to a few of London's museums like the Victoria and Albert Museum. From the airport, it's easy to get to via train or tube. Cleanliness/Upkeep The hotel is clean and well maintained. Furnishings and decorations are on the same level as a Marriott. Service The service is on par with what you'd expect from an American hotel. When we discovered our air conditioning didn't work in our hotel room, the staff upgraded us to a nicer room with a working unit. Staff were helpful hailing taxis and even providing an extra electrical adaptor (for a cost). Amenities Few amenities offered at the hotel. WiFi costs about $20 in your hotel room but is free in their small lobby, which had no accessible electrical outlets. There is no pool or business center and the conference center is very limited. With the exception of WiFi, this should not be an issue for most tourists. The hotel does offer a full English breakfast buffet in its adjacent restaurant, which is high quality.

Yelp
The absolute WORST client service I have experienced. I stayed here for 3 nights, I have a push chair and no one helped me through the stairs not even once. No one helped me with luggage at check in or check out. I upgraded to a bigger room with breakfast and at check out I have been told breakfast was not included and had to pay £30 extra per day. Breakfast was awful, very poor selection and bad quality food. One of the 3 days the cleaner didn't do our room. We asked for a cot bed and was not supplied. We have to call reception twice to remind them. The manager was extremely rude and disrespectful shouting at me at check out. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Yelp
We booked to stay at the Millennium Baileys Hotel through Last Minute.com on one of their Top Secret hotel offers. As we had booked it as a Top Secret Hotel we got it at a hugely discounted price. The Hotel was rated as a 4* and whilst the hotel itself was nice and the location good the rooms didnt quite reach the 4* standard. They were a little on the small side and a bit dated but its not easy to get a decent hotel in London for under £100 per night so I was pleased as it was good value. Breakfast was included in the room price, it was a cold buffet of cereal and fruit and then a full cooked breakfast served with Tea/Coffee and toast. Hotel breakfasts can be a bit hit and miss but this was one of the better ones. The location was good, in South Kensington close to Kensington High Street, Kensington Gardens and the Royal Albert Hall. We even managed to walk from the hotel right up to Convent Garden one day but I wouldnt recommend it!! Much easier to get the bus or the Tube. I would definately go back to the Millenium Baileys again if I could get the Special Offer - not sure if I would pay full price as there are hotels of the same price and standard closer to the sights and shops.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this hotel. I shared a room with 4 people and the room was spacious enough for all of us. The bed was comfortable as well. You felt like you were getting a full England experience as soon as you walked in. The lobby was decorated beautifully which created a great vibe and when you walk into your room for the first time there were macaroons set up for you! The breakfast was absolutely great and affordable, especially for a buffet. The tube station is right next to it which really came in handy. Overall I highly recommend this hotel (and slightly miss it).

Yelp
Remarkable decor welcomes you, while staff is superbly helpful and accommodating when checking in. The rooms are much more spacious then most encountered in Europe. Furthermore, they are very clean and comforting. Like most older buildings in Europe, their is a damp feeling; however this is to be expected. We are very pleased.

Yelp
Please avoid this hotel unless you are incredibly diminutive in stature. The rooms are laughably small, so much so that I had to rent a space just to meet with another single person. Even the room service attendant laughed when he realized I had my computer open which meant no room anywhere for the tray. The staff save for the manager were very pleasant. When I told the manager they needed to discount the room due to the size they offered a free drink in the bar instead. There are literally hundreds of better hotels in London, please check any of them out first.

Patricia R.

Yelp
Please do not stay in this hotel! We had a rodent in our room for three days!! The hotel only offered a room change after the third day when we demanded it. The desk managers were rude and very uncooperative. We asked for some type of price reduction after this incident and they have refused to answer any communication from us.

Yelp
Incredibly convenient location--literally right next door to the Gloucester tube stop, amazing. Small Tesco and a Starbucks all within feet of the hotel; ATMs close. You need to walk a few blocks before escaping the chains (KFC, Nando's, etc.). Close to museums and some great walking streets. As for the hotel--hard to say. Cleaning service was erratic: one day there would be two little bottles of shower gel, two of lotion, but no shampoo or conditioner. Next day might be all shampoo and conditioner without lotion. Sometimes you were missing a larger towel. There was no straightening up of stuff cluttered on the desk--no putting the newspapers into a pile, lining the pencils up, etc. Shower water extremely hot and no way to moderate, and the drain dial was broken so I just had to take the plug out manually--and throughout my five nights nobody saw it sitting there and thought to fix or put it back. TV remote was no fun--sometimes the TV went on with one long, hard push, other times it was just a matter of pushing the button again and again and again... The TV screen (on or off) was so large relative to the room that it felt odd and cumbersome. Only two hangers in the closet, and the drawers for your other clothes were TINY. You have to live out of your suitcase. A cool (energy saving) system for turning the lights on that requires your key card inserted to a slot on the wall--but there were no instructions and no warning from the desk, so you had to figure it out on your own in the dark... Of course, the friendly staff was always willing to respond if you called or went down to ask for something. But it just seemed off for so many little things to get messed up or be unthought of. (Two hangers total? etc.) I don't need a huge TV that's hard to turn on--I need space for my clothes, a shower that works, etc. In sum: amazing location, but...

Yelp
Probably 2.75 stars. Stayed here during the 2012 Olympics so there was not a lot of choice for reasonable accomodations. Hotel is old, a bit run down and overall cramped - definitely built for another age. The Olives Bar is great -did not try the restaurant (Highly recommend Med Kitchen about 1 km north on Gloucester Road). Location next to the tube station is great. W-Fi was like 10 pound/day - this may have been Olympics extortion. There was supposedly free wi-fi at Olives but I could barely get a signal. OK place to stay - it's London so don't spend too much tinme in the room.

Yelp
This place is clean, quiet and right across from a tube stop. Doesn't get much better for the price. The only problem was they really screwed me over on the handful of local phone calls I made. 4 local calls, for 5 minutes combined and I had to pay something like 20 pounds for it. Help! Rape!!! The description of phone charges by the phone in the room was totally misleading. Please rectify this, Millennium!
