"Hidden away down twisting country roads in an affluent part of Old Windsor, this charmingly run pub is a quirky, pretty operation where the food is given pride of place. The location – a tranquil spot on the edge of Windsor Great Park – is a hunting area, so expect plenty of local game on the menu in season, such as venison from the Park itself. The experienced chef crafts his ingredients into complex, attractively presented dishes, with the Bar Menu offering lighter and simpler options. Do look out for the cheese trolley, which is bursting with prime British options." - Michelin Inspector

We've had Sunday lunch here a few times, always impressed. A weekday lunch this time, so we ate a la carte rather than the standard roasts. Stunning presentation and flavours. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Probably not a great menu if you don't eat meat, but we we ate rabbit, pork, beef and deer and they were excellent. The game charcuterie board was a standout but it's all great. NB there's virtually no parking here, we always park in the south car park and enjoy the 90 minute walk all the way around Virginia Water.

An amazing experience for me and my friends. We booked The Bailiwick for a Monday night meal with friends and I cannot recommend it enough. The service was personal, friendly and down to earth - we had great conversations with all of the staff that served us and really enjoyed learning about the food we were eating. The venue is cosy, warm and the lighting helps to create a very chilled out vibe as well. We sat in the Snug area which was lovely. I imagine parking is a challenge at the weekend, but we came on a Monday night and there was plenty available. The food was phenomenal as well - the little details like the hot, fresh bread served with an amazing compound butter and game stock, as well as homemade chocolate to finish were fantastic! That's not to mention the stars of the show, the food we ordered. The menu is exciting and features a wide variety of choices — we went for the deer for main which was phenomenal. The addition of the (probably butchering what this was, sorry) bacon sauce to go with it was fantastic! Plus, that hotpot was out of this world! It doesn't look like a lot from the look of the plates, but it felt like I'd never eat again by the time I left - you won't be hungry afterwards. I had the soup and rarebit for starter - what a brilliant idea to serve it with rarebit! Divine. Plus the knickerbocker glory for dessert - a proper treat, the ice cream was delicious. I cannot recommend The Bailiwick enough if you're looking for something exciting and different. Yes, it was a little more expensive than what I'd normally go for, but considering the quality of the food and the service I think it's well worth the price we paid. Another plus - we were getting a little nervous about how eagerly our sparkling water was being replaced as we thought we'd need to pay for it — not the case! You pay one price (£2 per person) and get unlimited sparkling water with your meal. Restaurants like this could easily get away with charging upwards of £6 for 750ml of sparkling water, so I was really pleasantly surprised when I saw the bill! I look forward to coming back here as soon as I can.

It’s not possible to reward this pub with less than 5 stars. The food was at a superior level and the same was the service. The first great Sunday roast I have had in years of long research. The starters were a terrific surprise of flavours and originality. The desserts a great finale for an experience that we’ll replicate soon. The staff made the whole experience pleasant and impeccable very rare to find in this contexts. The only disappointment were the many cars parked outside that transformed the outside view more like a parking than a countryside landscape.

We enjoyed a spectacular lunch here for our wedding anniversary, thank you to all the wonderful staff for their excellence, efficiency and attention to detail! The game charcuterie board was presented incredibly, we thoroughly enjoyed the venison ravioli, the sole meuniere, the windsor deer and the desserts - tiramisu and the doughnuts which were not too sweet but lovely and warm. Thank you for the special anniversary dessert too! A special mention to Liz our wonderful server for your kindness, warmth and excellent service.

The food I had here this afternoon took my breath away. Service was exceptional and I can't wait to get back again soon! Enjoyed a prawn cocktail and a pumpkin spice parfait. The presentation is a great representation of how incredibly delicious it all was. Great selection of drinks to pair. Thank you for having us!

Food was amazing!! It’s a classic upper class country pub located in a beautiful area. They do have a Michelin star which highlight the quality of food, the service and the chefs of course. Because of this, prices are more expensive vs a normal pub however it’s 100% worth it! They offer a 2 course menu for £50 and a 3 course for £60! Highly recommend!!

The Bailiwick Freehouse This was an incredible way to truly get underway my dining year of 2025. We’ve visited the Bailiwick quite a few times now but this visit will definitely stand out. On saturday evening enjoyed a fantastic Game Tasting Menu of 7 courses which priced at only £80 was amazing value for money. We started the evening with a cocktail at the bar where we enjoyed a nice chat with owners Steven and Ami before taking our seats at the table. We chose a bottle of Lalande de Pomerol La Menotte 2022 that paired perfectly with every course. The menu started with a fabulous selection of Charcuterie and Snacks including Rabbit Chorizo , Pigeon Salami , Rabbit Rilette with Cheese Sable and a heavenly Pigeon Sausage Roll along with a game consommé. This was followed by the Parker House Roll with a Game Bird Liver Parfait , sage and onion butter. Next to come was an excellent Game Terrine , Stuffed Pheasant Leg and Woodcock which was accompanied by an Offal Cottage Pie. Each dish was cooked to absolute perfection and the flavour was stunning. This led us to dessert where first we enjoyed a Rhubarb and Custard pre dessert before the main desserts of an absolutely delicious Tiramisu and a Coconut Rice Pudding Tartlet. We finished with a coffee and sticky toffee doughnuts before being joined for another chat with Steven and Ami. This gave us a chance to personally thank them and the team for an amazing evening from not only the team in the kitchen but the front of house which was led superbly by Lewis. I would highly recommend a visit to the Bailiwick which is set on one of entrances to the Windsor Great Park. The food is amazing and you will be well looked after by the team. Thank You Steven and Ami for a wonderful dining experience and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Another fantastic lunch at the Bailiwick. The set-price Sunday lunch, though pricey at £50 for 2 courses, is superb. Meats are beautifully cooked, fish dishes are equally well-prepared, and presentation, including side vegetables, is superb. The cauliflower cheese is particularly good for those of us who enjoy it! Service is always warm and charming, even from those younger members of the team who may lack experience and confidence. Equally special, of course, is the location, just by a gate into Windsor Great Park, which allows us to walk off the wonderful meal!

Yelp
This really feels like an out of the way pub, well sort of namely because it happens to be near one of the entrances to Windsor Great Park. It's sort of tucked away on the side of the road. Anyway, it really did have quite a bit of charm about it. The service was good, and the terrace area at the front was quite nice as well, especially when it is a warm summers day.

Yelp
Avoid. Starters - 5 out of seven acceptable. Mains - 2 out of seven acceptable - 1 had to be returned twice as unedible and was then replaced with a different dish. Management clearly unhappy at being challenged. Sweets - 2 unedible - 5 acceptable. Wine was not as ordered - a long storey. It is just like trying to eat in the middle of Crufts show ring - dogs everywhere!

Yelp
The service is decent. I have been there about 3 or 4 times and one time the service was very poor, but this was a standout case. The food is decent and the prices are alright. Just a solid restaurant from taking out your friends, nothing particularly special about it though!

Yelp
Decent but not great. We came at the tail end of the Sunday Roast serving and paid for it with potatoes that you couldn't slice into. Lamb portion was huge though, and the beef tasted fine. Sticky Toffee Pud was a bit dry, so they lay tons of toffee sauce on it. Best thing was the waffle dessert. Yummy!
