We stayed here with another couple and were incredibly disappointed with both the service and the overall experience.
We arrived at noon knowing it was too early to check in, but planned to relax in the bar and have lunch. The first pint served was warm and flat. When we asked about lunch, we were told they were fully booked — fair enough — but when we tried to use the WiFi to find somewhere else to eat, we found it only worked for 10 minutes before locking you out for an hour. I asked the manager for a WiFi password so we could look up local options which was refused and he told us to go to Bromyard. His attitude felt quite rude and unhelpful, and we felt unwelcome. My friend also asked to book a table for dinner and was told no, again with the same abruptness.
After finding food elsewhere, we returned to check in at 3:30. The room was clean and the shower was good but it lacked privacy — people in the garden could see straight in, and the only option was to close the blackout blinds, leaving the room dark and without natural light.
Later that evening, with no food options nearby, I asked the manager if we could order room service for my friend. He replied, “We don’t do room service — there’s only pizzas for guests,” which he hadn’t bothered to mention earlier. If I hadn't have asked we wouldn't have had anything for dinner. It's the first time I've ever stayed at a hotel that wouldn't allow guests a table without prior booking. For £125–£150 a night (without breakfast), the lack of hospitality was shocking.
The bed was really uncomfortable, the room hot and stuffy with a heavy winter duvet (in July!), and we barely slept two hours due to the heat and noise.
We shared our concerns at checkout and received an apology from a young staff member, but by that point, we were ready to leave. We were out the door by 8:30am to find breakfast elsewhere.
Save your money — there are far better places to stay that understand what real hospitality means.
