Wow! Homemade everything! Great breads! The chicken spaghetti was really good. They chicken pot pie was awesome. The soup was homemade and wonderful. We all ate from each other‘s plates. It was so good.

Google
The cutest hidden gem!! We’ve visited several times for lunch, but my mom hosted a bridal shower for me this weekend and the staff was so kind and accommodating. The cake was beautiful (and delicious!). We had the bacon deviled eggs, tomato and mozzarella skewers, chicken salad sandwiches and fruit and it was all amazing along with an assortment of desserts. Highly recommend for your next shower or event!

The Bake Shop Café is more than just a bakery—it's a legacy. My mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma started this little gem back in the 80s, and walking in today still feels like stepping into their kitchen. The air smells like memories—fresh bread, warm cinnamon, and love baked into every bite. The fact that they’re still using our original family recipes is what makes this place so special. From the buttery pies to the flaky pastries and hearty comfort meals, everything tastes just like it always did. Somehow, it’s even better—maybe because it reminds me of the strong, incredible women who built it from scratch. If you're ever near, stop in. Have a coffee, a slice of pie, and a little taste of history. This place isn't just serving food—it's serving stories, heart, and generations of love. ❤️

Google
Nice little place for a brunch. Delicious food and service was great! Wide variety of choices for breakfast and lunch Pastries are so good! Cakes cookies and they even have homemade DingDongs! And they are huge!

Tennelle Flake

Google
Absolutely must! I not only adore the decor in this establishment, but am obsessed with the food! Chicken salad sandwich with chicken enchilada soup and chocolate chip cookie. Of course my order is not complete without their homemade ding dong! I do not really eat bread very often, but here I love how soft and fluffy it is. Definitely a nice spot to go relax and enjoy truly amazing food.

Google
They serve a massive quantity of food, everything’s about $12 or more. The parking is easy and there wasn’t a wait for seating. The bathrooms were clean and the environment was so creative. The style of music felt weird but was quiet enough. They don’t have any Vegan options except for a veggie wrap without the cheese, but they didn’t have vegetables to make the wrap so I ended up with a fruit salad which wasn’t really my preference. The pancakes are massive and really every bit of food is great.

James Ray

Google
So the decor is really awesome. The chicken and dumplings are so good. The service? That’s where it fell apart. I visited with my family and there were not very many smiles being thrown around in that place. Kinda threw me off. The 4 rating is generous but it’s mostly for the food.

Google
Melissa, owner of the Bake Shoppe and Cafe and her head Chef Nazario catered our October 7th wedding in the Round Top area and completely exceeded all expectations. We we looking for an alternative to the traditional "chicken or beef," sit-down wedding dinner and I am so blessed to have been referred to Melissa by a mutual friend. From the beginning, Melissa guided us through her recommendations for our wedding dinner. We even came into the shop for a tasting where she and her staff took amazing care of us. We went with her caprese skewers, UNBELIEVABLE deviled eggs for cocktail hour. **Y'all I had people coming up to me, the bride, to point them in the direction of any deviled eggs! I had to slap my own mother away from the back-up stash!!** We also served her sweet potato/black bean/feta quesadillas, her loaded red potatoes (BOMB) and a delicious and hearty chicken and sausage jambalaya with a garden salad topped with her ICONIC Sweet Connie's salad dressing. She also did our dessert bar, featuring petit fours, lemon bars, pecan cheesecakes, brownies, and let me tell you that might have been the pièce de résistance of the whole event. Our personal little bride/groom cake was beautiful and it's like she looked into my heart to design it, as well as the buffet set-up. I wish I had more pictures on my phone but I'm hunting for some more of a "pretty plate." Not sure anyone could wait to take a picture before digging in! All in all, I would recommend Melissa and her team for any catering needs and I can't wait to stop back by soon for lunch!! We love you! **Edit: She also made our bride and grooms lunch for 10+ on each side. Chicken salad sandwiches, chips and veggies! I mean come on!!!

Yelp
Chicken salad is excellent! I love all the antiques too. It's a great place to meet friends for lunch. The desserts look marvelous, but I will have to try those next time.

Yelp
We come here for one key reason. An important one -- Cinnamon rolls!!! Cinnamon rolls are one of Mr. Picky's favorite foods on the planet, and we are on a continual search. Their cinnamon rolls are definitely up there on the scale. The other food we've ordered, meh, not so in love with it. I just called and they have seven left, so we'll pick them up, freeze them and enjoy when the mood strikes.

Bob M.

Yelp
Unbelievable King Ranch chicken and frosted brownies. You will really be glad you went.

L R.

Yelp
The food was absolutely wonderful, especially the homemade bread. My friends and I loved the decor!

Yelp
Amazing Store!!! I'm Deaf customer who is resident 1-mile from this store BUT the guy who work cashier with gothic type appearance. He always works there. We did get coffee from there... Second time I attend, I asked for vanilla(creamer) coffee. He said they don't sell vanilla coffee he said this is Bake cafe, not coffee shop. He tricked me the other day. Today, my coffee went out, I just happened look up nearby coffee. This store show up on Maps App. I remembered the other day they don't have coffee, I decided by looking up store menu. I can't believe what I read on menu!!! they do sell coffee $2.90! they claimed they has a vintage Starbucks machine, so their Cappuccinos and Lattes are AMAZING. What's actual fuck? One star for failure to serve coffee when they DO have coffee in the first place. Screw the goth guy, and he deserves get his bottom tear down by a bull if you ask me. In future feedback; Never declining deaf customer but serve other hearing people some coffee. This is Blatant discrimination. The goth guy needs to be terminate to save this business.

Yelp
Had lunch there first. Food was okay, pricey, but nothing special. Went next door to shop and then decided to come back to pick up a casserole for dinner. There was no customers in the place at all. The woman at the counter was on the phone, clearly with a customer, but taking her time with this call. I heard her say she was the owner. I waited for a good five minutes for her to finish her conversation. There were other employees who saw me waiting, none of them came to help, nor did the owner signal for them to help me. While I was waiting, another call came in. The owner answered the call quickly, and asked if she could put them on hold and went back to the original caller. I was NEVER once even acknowledged by the owner. Not with a look, or a one finger wait sign, a mouthed apology, nothing. I waited paitiently, although i was getting pretty annoyed by this time. She ends the original call and proceeds to pick up the call on hold that came in as I was waiting!!!! Still NEVER even acknowledged that i was even there three feet from her face! I had enough at that point and said "this is ridiculous!" And I stormed out. She comes outside right after me, apologizing profusely. I wasn't having it! I didn't want to hear apologies or excuses. I told her it was a terrible way of doing business and walked away. I had no intention of listening to annuities she had to say. She DELIBERITLY ignored and disrespected a customer to their face and then she wants to apologize?? Couldn't be bothered to even acknowledge me until I stormed out?? And then these small business owners complain that the customers are the Karen's?? That was the most Karen of all Karen moves! Needless to say, I won't be back. Won't miss much except overpriced Kroger quality chicken salad, hard as rocks chocolate chip cookies, and rude treatment. Thanks, I'll pass.

Yelp
Love the ambience. Food is tasty. Found a little bit pricey for a lunch combo but maybe that's the price because of the ambience? If I wanted to go someplace a little bit different that felt very local roots in the community, I'd probably go again. Happy to recommend.

Yelp
Nice quiche Lorraine and a ding dong to go. Can't say much for the bread but everything else was very good.

Yelp
The food is absolutely incredible. We ended up meeting the owners and she was very sweet and friendly. The actual vibe of the restaurant was so cute, almost like The Junk Gypsy's meets a cafe? LOL best way I could explain it. Loved everything about this place and will be coming back!

Jan H.

Yelp
There is a varied menu and great food. Bake Shoppe has been in business for many years, and its pies are to die for.

Rae N.

Yelp
We ordered 12 cupcakes for Thanksgiving and my husband's birthday. His favorite is red velvet. We ordered 3 each of champagne, chocolate, vanilla and red velvet. The supposed red velvet cupcakes appeared to be chocolate. The cake parts of the vanilla cupcake and chocolate cupcake was inedible. They were rock hard. The pink champagne were good. But spending $86 for a dozen cupcakes only to be the wrong ones or inedible is sickening. Pretty disappointing and we will not be back.

Yelp
I see a lot of negative reviews on this place and and a little taken back. I of course came here on a whim on the way to the vintage park area and was starving. This place looked pretty neat from the outside and had to take a look for myself. When walking in I was in Awe by all of the incredible and overwhelming display of antique-like decorations. It looked like an antique shop threw up in this bakery. Awesome! Unfortunately I also noticed how PRICEY this place is! Thus, the 4 stars. However, they had the best bread and chicken salad I have tasted in a long time. I love my chicken salad to have relish in it and finally!! The bread was so fluffy and tasted 100% homemade.. so delicious!! I hate that they give you an average bag of lays potato chips but it also offset the fact that they give you a giant chocolate chip cookie. Bravo! My favorite part of this whole experience was trying their chicken salad sandwich and viewing all of the neat, wild and weird antiques that were everywhere in this bakery. You can honestly say once you have visited this bakery shop that you will never see another place quite like it. Very unique and I love it. TRY THEIR PECAN CHEESE CAKE BAR!! AMAZING!!!!
google avatar

Kevin S.

Yelp
I visited this place for their homemade ding dongs! So so good! But I also ended up picking up their Jack Daniels Pecan Pie. These guys make a fantastic pecan pie!

Jill C.

Yelp
We have had several delicious lunches here. Came highly suggested for our upcoming event. We also had a lovely bridal shower. Could not have asked for more as every detail was perfect. Food was delicious. Staff was incredible and very accommodating. Tony & Melissa incorporated each ask into something fabulous. Lovely esthetic. The cake was incredible too. We all enjoyed this special celebration. Highly recommend this adorable cafe! Hidden gem in Cypress.

Yelp
So this is the second year in a row we've tried their food truck at Junk Gypsy in Round Top. The ladies at Junk Gypsy are always so gracious and kind but our experience with The Bake Shoppe food truck on site during the show just isn't that same southern hospitality. Last year, we received rude service but chalked it up to a long day dealing with high demand. This year, we placed our order, paid and then the owner casually tells us "oh we're out of pasta salad so we can substitute some deviled eggs". Like no other option was given. Couldn't you have said that before we paid and we may have changed our order to something else? It was as if she waited until the transaction was complete before she said anything. It was just weird. Other customers around us complained about the rudeness. I gave it 3 stars because the chicken salad was really good.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Houston? The bake shoppe in my not so lil hometown is the exact opposite of what you would imagine. I know spots in cypress sometimes seem few and far between, but you really have to trust what I say and check out. The outside and inside decorations are the most unique I've seen. The workers are just the nicest! My family always orders the cinnamon rolls that you can bake at home. The maple icing, are you kidding me? I could drink the stuff, seriously. The perfect recipe. I also love the sandwiches. The pimento cheese the bread. The chicken salad. AH! Honestly everything is great. You can't be disappointed.

Carol Ann G.

Yelp
Loved the Ambiance & atmosphere. Service was pretty good as well. Haven't been back for awhile so I'll be going back to enjoy the food again. Only have been there for lunch
google avatar

Patrick B.

Yelp
Great little spot!! The customer service is first class, definitely gives you a very comfortable home vibe. I believe it's the owners son that helped us and he made sure to go over pretty much everything which was very nice. The brownie bars and lemon bars here were absolutely delicious!! I also bought a jack Daniel pecan pie for thanksgiving that got eaten up before I could even get a piece. We will be back! Thank y'all!
google avatar

Kadi M.

Yelp
The small combo for lunch, with the best chicken salad sandwich you will ever have, salad with the most delicious ranch, and their chicken and rice soup. Their pimento cheese is also out of this world.

Sarah B.

Yelp
The chicken salad is oh so good! Tried the choc chip cookie with my meal and was top notch.
google avatar

Kayla S.

Yelp
This cafe is one of my local favorites. I've been coming here for many years & try food is always so good. I love the bread, cookies and chicken and dumplings. You can't go wrong!
google avatar

Jessa M.

Yelp
This is a quaint little cafe/pastry shop. I grabbed a couple of Ding Dongs, as they were highly recommended. These definitely did not disappoint. They were rich and delicious and enormous. One was big enough for two people to share. This will be added to my "fave dessert" list.
google avatar

Carolina S.

Yelp
Came in to get some sweet things with my kids and was very disappointed! We got a sugar cookie, piece of wedding cake and a double chocolate chip cookie with buttercream inside. None of it tasted fresh. If you name a place the Bake shoppe it should have the freshest sweets instead of hard stale cookies and cakes. Won't be back

Terri T.

Yelp
The chicken salad and the deserts are amazing! The dinner entrees to go are delicious also! The chocolate ding dongs snd the lemon bars are my favorite!

Jonathan C.

Yelp
I would like to start off by saying how amazing this place from the food to the decor this establishment is truly outstanding me and my family had recently moved to the area closer to family in which they recommend us to eat hear for lunch and let me tell you it won't disappoint we order the lunch sandwiches and I would say they are a little pricy but in return your getting fresh cooked food that is amazing
google avatar

Marie R.

Yelp
The food at this bake shop is some of the greatest in Houston; But the service is so bad and the attitude is horrendous. This is not "Cafe Du Monde" guys. It's a small place that has good cooks. But there are other places that have a better attitude toward people. I used to eat there a lot but got tired of watching the employees treat customers with such disdain that it was actually sad. Frankly I had the ideas that this business didn't care whether you were there are not - so I'm not.

Lucia M.

Yelp
We came by recently just to get dessert since we just had lunch and wanted something sweet. After asking the cashier (she described the cakes in such a manner that made our mouths water), that we decided to get a Petit Four and Ding Dongs. I've read the other reviews and am wondering how they can rate these cakes so high. For the price they're selling these (1 Ding Dong was $8.95 and 1 Petit Four/vanilla-type cake with glazed icing was $5.50), I was hoping for a quality cake experience. I was disappointed. Both were just sweet with no depth. I was expecting a rich buttery taste from the Petit Four, instead, it was like those nondescript cakes from the grocery store. The Ding Dong was just cloyingly sweet, again without depth and flavor that I threw the rest away after a few bites.
google avatar

Angela R.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. It's a local favorite. The bread is fantastic. The chicken salad is my personal favorite. The pimento cheese is also delicious. It does help to be familiar with the menu when ordering, so I recommend asking questions. The best part about the bake shoppe is the dessert. The ding dongs can not be beat!! They are incredible. I also love a simple vanilla cup cake.
google avatar

Joyce R.

Yelp
First time to visit this restaurant which was highly recommended by 3 friends. The food was OK, but WAY over-priced. $78 (including 20% tip) for 2 sandwich lunches, 1 iced tea, 1 Ding Dong and a pan of 6 cinnamon rolls that you bake at home. Won't be going back or recommending to others.

Jako M.

Yelp
I had targeted an Indian buffet but when it was closed I noticed this place squeezed between retail shops. Its name made me think it was a dessert place but when I opened the door it was like walking into a different world At first glance it's a a curio and antique collector store. But on second glance it served lunches from sandwiches to meatloaf. So impressed! I'll be back for sure! Love when these accidents happen.
google avatar

Janet S.

Yelp
I have been a customer here for many years, but I will no longer be back. Three of the four people I saw working here were not wearing a mask and the fourth was not wearing it properly. When I asked, I was told that they all had breathing issues and could not wear a mask based on a medical issue. I know for a very small portion of the population this is true. I do not believe all the people here have that issue. I will no longer support a business that disregards public safely and does not take my safety into consideration.
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
Best chicken salad sandwich I've ever had. I'm so surprised by the poor rating because this place was so great.
google avatar

Rachael D.

Yelp
My favorite bakery!!! Literally anything you get from here is incredible, you cannot go wrong with anything. I'd go here once a week if it wasn't a long drive away. Love love love this place!
google avatar

Cynthia M.

Yelp
So good! Cannot beat their baked treats but lunch is very tasty too. My faves are the chicken & rice soup & chicken salad sandwich. Hub loves their chicken & dumplings & peanut butter cookies :)

Kimberly M.

Yelp
I love the eclectic and cozy atmosphere. Friendly service. I had the muffelatta and broccoli and cheese soup. My husband had chicken and dumplings. The food was excellent, better than expected. The cookie and ding dong cake was amazing! We will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Stephanie N.

Yelp
The shop is small, so many knick knacks but very cute! I like the variety of desserts they have on display. I had the ding dong, pecan cheesecake, and the Go diva chocolate in a jar. I found that the ding dong didn't keep its form, it kind of just crumbled apart. The flavors were great, but a little too sweet for me. The godiva in a jar had great flavors, I would probably eat this with ice cream, and lastly the pecan cheesecake was just right. It had a nice bite to it with the pecans, and it was creamy because of the cheesecake. I liked it so much because it was simple. I bought these three desserts and they were $18. I think they are more on the pricier side and I probably would not be coming back because of it.
google avatar

Karen N.

Yelp
Can't saw enough great things about this place. Always plenty to eat and a fabulous cookie with the combo. Everyone must try the Ding Dong at least once in their life. Tortilla soup is my favorite

Barbara K.

Yelp
Terrible service. Had a take out and was all wrong. Put a call into the owner. They said she wasn't there. Left my name and phone number. Never got a call back.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
First things first, female afternoon counter worker on 1/18 needs to attend a seminar on customer service. At the very least, make sure the call has ended before screaming out, "Oh my God". That comment came at the end of our conversation after the employee told me that no manager was available to talk with me but then assumed a managerial type role by encouraging me to tell her about my concern. So, onto my concern. Restaurants should not be running out of product at 12:30 on a Sat afternoon when your posted closing time is 3pm. Even if you had an "unexpected large order that morning." If the order was filled in the morning, are you really telling me that more chicken salad and bread couldn't be made after that? To be told that I couldn't buy a pint of chix salad or a loaf of bread, but they would "gladly sell us a sandwich" is offensive and the antithesis of customer service. Not sure if the owner is really aware of the poor choices being made when they are not there but the counter person assured me they did as it "happens all time." You can't rest on your laurels in the restaurant business and you can't be inattentive to your flagship store while trying to open a second locale. Either way, the owner should take note of the excessive comments about poor customer service and consider doing some combination of cleaning house and retraining.
google avatar

Deanna S.

Yelp
Left without ordering. It was a Saturday so expected a wait. We only went in to grab some bakery items. Stood in line for 15 minutes without the line moving at all. The staff was unfriendly and the set up to order only bakery items was crammed I wouldn't give them my business and the prices seemed high
google avatar

Nora S.

Yelp
I will give them an extra star for providing a good story to write about. So a place named The Bake Shoppe and Cafe. You would expect it to be all about breakfast and pastries right? And it is open at 7:00 AM too.... We walk in here about 9:00 AM on a week day while out visiting family in the area. By the way, 9:00 AM is late for us but we were on Pacific Time. The conversation goes something like this: Hubby: Well, we're interested in getting something for breakfast. Lady: Oh, I'm sorry we don't have breakfast on week days. Hubby: No worries! We'll get some coffee. One large, one small Lady: Ok. I'll get the coffee. But I only have one size cup. Hubby: Ok. No worries. We'll get the same size to go. Oh and a mocha as well (this was a request from our host) Lady: Sure! Oh wait, I don't have milk to make the mocha and I don't have the chocolate syrup Hubby: Ok..well Lady: But I am set up for cappucinos. This didn't make any sense to us considering she had just told us she had no milk. At that point, we gave up, thanked her for her time and walked out. There was a total of maybe 5 items in the case and nothing else. I'm not sure why they were open.
google avatar

Bernard D.

Yelp
07-May-2018 Update: Stopped in on a Saturday for breakfast. It was very good. It's pricey but also very hearty. I got the Country Fix, which comes with a little of everything. You get bacon, sausage, potatoes, grits, a heap of biscuits and country gravy, some fruit, and a big pancake. My guest ordered the quiche, which is a thick slice of egg pie with bacon and cheese inside, and it also came with fruit and a croissant. We enjoyed it. There are other items including various fruit pancakes, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast quesadilla. I plan to try these in the future. As for the reviews that have commented on surly behavior from the owner and some of the staff, I believe them but I haven't had that same experience. The lady that took care of us at breakfast was pleasant and helpful.

Yelp
LACE OVERLOAD! KITSCH OVERLOAD! TASSEL OVERLOAD! Now that I have that of my system... I've been coming here for over 10 years. When Bake Shoppe first opened, it was fantastic. Great desserts, good coffee, nice meals. My meal today was subpar, except for the brownie and lemon square. I had a "Connie's special" which was a salad with feta, chicken, homemade dressing, and craisins. The salad was lacking interest. The chicken was a huge breast which tasted inferior, it had the weirdest cheap (or old) chicken taste. The meal comes with a huuuuge cookie and a giant slice of bread. I brought both cookie and bread home, husband ate the bread and loved it, but he said the cookie was meh. I saw sandwiches come out of the kitchen that were made out of this bread, and the sandwich looked like three pieces of deli turkey with two inches of white bread on either side. No way would I have eaten a sandwich like that. This place used to be busy, busy and it's not anymore. The decor is so frilly that if I were a dude, I would assume this is a ladies tea room. Their pasta salad has always been good, and our desserts were very good. The entrees have slipped lately, it just wasn't the quality I'm used to at Bake Shoppe.
google avatar

Daelyn W.

Yelp
Awesome small family business... but MOST importantly... their pasta salad is life-changing!! That is all.
google avatar

Anna D.

Yelp
I love love love this place! I do not understand how anyone could give it any less that 5 stars. The ding-dongs, pies, and cakes are so good, but the chicken salad sandwich and chicken and rice soup and equally matched when it comes to which is better. Give it a try and you'll be in love!
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
We have been to this resturant many times and have yet to review. We LOVE it! The ding dongs are amazing and so fresh! The meatloaf sandwich is the best I've ever had. I and my son don't generally like meatloaf and we will eat this again. The bread.. Oh my gosh! The best bread I've ever had. So good!!!! The Broc and cheese soup.. Was good. It's not the best ive had, but not the worse. The apple pie is so yummy! The food is always fresh and so so good. Love the staff, they are always so kind!

Jackie B.

Yelp
Seriously lacks on service, on two separate occasions this last month. Great food though. Multiple menu items are unavailable and you find this out "when you order" the item (for both of my visits), it isn't even posted. Server sits and plays on his phone instead of checking on customers. No refills are offered. No spoon given with the soup. Maybe the business should consider a new server, can't go back back until this is remedied. Been a loyal customer for 15 years plus.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood gem! A friend told me of the fabulous bread and being A bread person I needed to taste it for myself. Wow!!!! It did not disappoint:) I've tried the chicken sandwich which comes on that delicious bread, and I've had the pot pie, that's very good. Each come with A side and you always get A chocolate chip cookie that's so good! This is A must place when my cousins are in town from Louisiana. A must try for any bread lovers. I buy A beautiful round loaf to go most visits.
