Best cookies ever! My favorite part is trying the rotating cookies of the month. The amount of ice cream they give when you create an ice cream sandwich is great. Sometimes we ask for half the normal amount. The Gooey Butter Cake is to die for. This location is always clean. The staff is nice.

Loved visiting here! You can pick two different cookies for the top and bottom, then an ice cream flavor, and pick toppings. The ice cream flavors are great! The cookies are delicious. And they will warm up the cookies for you before if you want! Definitely recommend a visit!

My friend and I went to the Baked Bear for the first time ever in Pacific Beach and it was amazing!! My friend got the gooey butter cookies with blackberry crumble ice cream and she loved it. She gives it a 10/10. I got the cookie of the month which was cinnamon roll and then I got a gooey butter cookie with the almond toffee ice cream inside. Mine was unreal. It was one of the best dessert places we’ve been too. We will be returning here!

If been to this place quite a lot in 2018. And visited them now 7 years later and the quality is so good as I had it in mind. The cookies are super chewy and tasty especially when you let them heat up. And the ice cream is so delicious and creamy. I really love enjoying a good ice cream sandwich at the baked bear!!

I got a Snicker doodle and White chocolate macadamia nut with Vanilla filling and it was sublime. Every bite was mmmmmm good. As the cinnamon, vanilla and macadamia nuts fused into peak delicious delight. My wife went all in on the blue options as any Percy fan can appreciate. She very much enjoyed it as well.

Best ice cream in the world 🌎 😋 Love the cookie warm as it hugs the ice cream....so good. My favorite is the brownie with almond ice cream. Highly recommend this place to satisfy your sweet tooth 😋

We were there last Wednesday and San Diego was a ghost town. I've been to this place lots of times before and the line has stretched clear down the block. It almost seemed like it was closed as the weather was great and kids were all back in school. So a perfect time to go get your ice cream and cookie of choice and enjoy it sitting in the quiet eating area with no one around.

Ambiance was nice. The cookies were sooo good, & the bear batter flavor wasn't bad at all. It's a blue cake batter ice cream w/ chocolate chips. As for the cookies, I got the 2 flavors of the month which were gingerbread & the strawberry matcha. (matcha cookie w/ strawberry frosting on top) Service was good. They were fast & efficient.

On my two-week California food road trip, I made it my mission to try every taco, every In-N-Out, and every dessert shop I could find. That's how I ended up at The Baked Bear, home of the famous ice cream sandwich. I'll admit, it was ok... its hard not to be ok when you mash ice cream between cookies. It's the kind of dessert that makes your inner kid cheer. But here's the thing: as much as I enjoyed it, I couldn't help comparing it to Swirl back home in Charlotte. The "squish" (cookie + ice cream + unlimited toppings + cookie) still feels next-level. The Baked Bear may have the hype and the West Coast crowd, but when it comes to ice cream sandwiches, the squish at Swirl puts this bear right back in its cave. If you're in San Diego, The Baked Bear is worth the stop bc it's fun, indulgent, and Instagram-ready. If you're in the QC head to Swirl, there's another level waiting for you.

Was shopping next-door with my daughter and saw this ice cream place. Definitely would come back had creative ice cream options as well as the warm cookie sandwich was a hit with my kids. One sandwich cookie is good for 2 to 3 people. It's pretty big and lots of sugar. Staff was really patient as my children of course took a while to make their selections. Definitely check it out if you're in the area.

Came here for dessert after having pizza across the street. We all got some sort of sandwich. I got a gooey butter cake cookie and brownie sandwich with almond brittle ice cream. Was it good? Hell yeah! Delicious! Great concept. $10.00 a sandwich though! Yikes! $40.00 for 4 ice creams is a bit steep IMO. Staff was friendly and there are places to sit inside which is nice.

When you want that one massive dessert that makes everything else in your life fade away for that one moment... this is your place!! Got a classic chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich with Nutella topping and it was insanely good. I remembered this place from years ago in LA, and it's still just as amazing as I remembered! :) I went in around 9pm and the line was very short. Pure dessert bliss!

The Baked Bear is always such a fun experience after a day at the beach or a walk down the boardwalk during a summer sunset. I love how fun it is to build your own customized sandwich. The Vegan Chocolate Chip ice cream is made with oat milk, which makes is creamier than other milk alternatives. While I am always grateful for businesses that offer vegan options, the gluten-free cookies are not particularly my favorite. Unfortunately gluten-free often gets lumped with many vegan options, perhaps trying to accommodate more people with each specialty item. That being said I ordered my sandwich with one of each vegan/gluten-free cookies, Chocolate Chip and Fudgy Brownie. This place can get swamped but staff work pretty fast to get the orders out and move the line along in a timely manner. Definitely worth stopping by after your next day at the beach or night in PB!

We stayed at a hotel nearby so after dinner, while walking around we saw a long line outside this store. We waited in line for about 10 minutes. You can pick different cookies on the top and bottom, and requested to have the cookies warmed. It's not as warm as the pizookie from BJ's. The ice cream sandwich is still tasty. There's a water station in the store because you will be thirsty after eating a huge ice cream sandwich. Will visit again due to a large selection of ice cream and cookie flavors.

What's not to like? Cookie's are tasty. Lots of ice cream flavors. Probably would go with a different flavor next time as I could only eat a few bites of the dark chocolate ice cream. It was soooo rich (but yummy). Perfect for a hot summer day.

Walking in the vibes are super chill. Employees are super friendly and was willing to walk us through their process which was pick a base, the filling, and toppings... now the base of cookies can be different and YES they allow you to try the ice cream. Luckily we arrived when it was a little more quiet. Is the place worth it.... Yup!

A little too sweet - but tasty! I got the white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookie with their bear batter ice cream. I love the originality of this place, and although expensive, they have many options. You can customize which cookie you want for the top & bottom of the sandwich, the flavor of ice cream, and toppings. It's a bit on the pricey side but it's perfect for a late night sweet treat. Service is very fast and the menu has many other things you can order besides their sandwiches, but they are known for them so I would recommend trying it. It's located in pacific beach, which can get very busy and crowded so parking is not the easiest. They have a parking lot around the corner near the Brandy Melville and Urban Outfitters but that lot gets very busy during the day when the weathers nice so you may have to find street parking and walk. The area is very walkable and many shops and other food spots to explore right on the beach, so it's a quite enjoyable area!

Scrumptious ice cream sandwiches are the star of the show at Baked Bear. I like how you can customize different top and bottom cookies plus the ice cream interior to create truly unique treats. There's plenty of variety of cookie and ice cream types so you're sure to find a winning combo. I recommend that you try some cookies on their own too because they are delicious and potentially have a softer texture when not squished up next to a cold swath of ice cream. I tried the gooey butter cake cookie, and it was so soft and delectable all by itself.

The Baked Bear is a fun dessert spot, especially if you are in the mood for something indulgent after a big meal. The location is close to some college bars, so it has that lively late night energy. Service was fine, nothing special, but the real focus here is the custom ice cream sandwiches. I went with a gooey butter cake cookie on top, a white macadamia cookie on the bottom, and toasted s'mores ice cream in the middle. They even warmed up the cookies, which was a really nice touch, but overall the dessert was extremely sweet. Personally it was a bit too much for me, though I am sure people with a big sweet tooth would love it. By the time we went around 9pm, there were only three or four cookie options left, so the selection was limited. If you are craving a sugar bomb and want a fun, customizable dessert, The Baked Bear is worth a visit, but just be ready for something very sweet.

Today is customer appreciation day. The line for Baked Bear today was reasonable since we lined up 20 mins. prior to the start of the "ice cream" giveaway. My brother, sister-in-law, boyfriend, and I walked to The Baked Bear after having lunch at Big Jim's Roast Beef sandwich shop. Thankful to my friend Monica who had informed me about Baked Bear giving out free ice cream today. Their ice cream is very rich in flavor and they gave us good customer service even if we didn't order anything else.

this was an amazing ice cream sandwich! personally, i don't think it was overly sweet but just a good amount. the bear batter tastes light but still flavorful. the white macadamia cookie is more sweeter. service could have been better, there was an employee who had an attitude and looked annoyed. the place is large and has many seating tables. this location is in a corner where parking can be tedious because there are many stores nearby. luckily, we found parking quickly. i would come back again but hopefully with better service.

Is it worth the hype, YES! Is it worth the wait, oh yeah! Homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches!!! Mocha ice cream with chocolate banana cookies, On my gosh! They have vegan options too! So good and it is our go to when we are in PB on vacation.

Cute little build your own cookie sandwich spot. The line was out the door so we knew it's be good. You get a choice of cookies, ice cream and whether you want the cookie pressed and warmed up. We got one Nutella chunk cookie and one gooey butter cake cookie with classic vanilla is cream. Definitely rich but it hit the spot after dinner.

This place was popping on a Sunday night! Line out the door but it went fast and was worth the wait. You can create your own ice cream sandwich with fresh baked cookies or brownies. We did the Nutella chocolate chunk cookie and gooey butter cake cookie with vanilla. Cookies are made fresh daily. It was huge and enough for two people! There is seating available inside. Service was friendly and fast. Would go again next time I'm in San Diego.

The Baked Bear is my new number one place for ice cream in San Diego! I did the create your own ice cream sandwich and I chose the cookies and cream cookie and nutella cookie with s'mores ice cream inside and I got it warmed up. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. It was a long line to get in, but it went pretty quick, maybe 10-15 minutes so not too bad and totally worth it. If you are ever in Pacific Beach you definitely need to give it a try. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it was clean inside. Very lively with lots of people having a good time with family and friends.

Ooh this place is out of the world... you can build your own ice cream sandwich, where you choose ice cream between various brownie/cookie combinations plus toppings. We chose mud pie ice cream (which was exquisite), sandwiched between the brownie and chocolate cookie, with hot fudge topping. Truly delectable. Apparently this establishment is a chain, but this location was the OG. Staff was very friendly too. This is something we'll miss on returning from SD.

Thought this was a fantastic concept for an ice cream place. They give the choice of cookies to make an ice cream sandwich as well as a variety of ice cream flavors. The cookies and brownies were fresh and the staff were helpful. Perfect to split one between two people (or have one yourself if you're feeling up to it). Would love to see this concept in my neighborhood.

This place is delicious. I think next time I won't have the cookie warmed up because it gets hard after a while. But the cookie that wasn't warmed was absolutely delicious. Soft, a little thinner. Their bramble berry ice cream/ idk the real name but it's similar to jeni's ice cream, was absolute HEAVEN. Go try it! The ambiance is nice for families! Perfect to eat after going to any restaurants on the street. The service was fast and kind! Will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area!

The Baker Bear has cookies and ice cream that you can order separately or as an ice cream cookie sandwich. We bought 6 cookies and their dark chocolate ice cream. There were so many cookie options. Some of the flavors were seasonal like gingerbread or stuffed carrot cake. We tried a he following flavors: Nutella chocolate chip, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, cookie butter, cookies & cream, and funfetti sprinkle. We liked all of them. Our favorites were both versions of the chocolate chip cookie and the snickerdoodle. All of the cookies were soft and tasted fresh. There were a handful of ice cream flavors to choose from as well. The dark chocolate ice cream that we got was rich and smooth. You definitely have to be a chocolate lover for this one! The employees working were friendly. The Baked Bear is a fun dessert spot!

I think it's too sugary and the flavors are not strong. They let you sample two ice cream flavors which is cool tho! One server was nice but the other one seemed to be annoyed with me. I was sober in PB on a Friday night. Idk what gave her that opinion of me to talk in a slightly mean way but I was annoyed when I walked in nice. I think Handel's across the street has better flavors and more of a variety. Price wise, it's okay.

Great little spot for a sweet treat. On mission Blvd so parking is scarce. I got a cookie sandwich. One side Ooey Gooey Butter Cake and the other chocolate chip heated up with vanilla ice cream in between. It was so good but it's massive so you could probably share it with someone else. They also do Cookie n brownie cups. Service was quick n friendly. We road our bikes here from our campground.

Oh baby! Cookies and ice cream just never disappoints. The Baked Bear is an ice cream shop right on Mission Beach that offers a variety of cookies and ice cream flavors to mix and match to make your own cookie sandwich! Very casual so you can come right in after a day at the beach. Service is fast and friendly. This time around, we got a chocolate chip cookie, cookies and cream ice cream, and a white chocolate macadamia cookie on top. Then they warm it up the ideal amount so the cookies get a bit toasty and the ice cream remains the perfect texture. The only knock on this place is the price - this novelty will run you about $10. Definitely worth it every once in a while!

Maybe it's a california thing, but I didn't get the hype behind this place. At almost $10 for a single sandwich, I had much higher expectations. The ice cream was mediocre. The almond cookie was the most enjoyable part. The brownie was nothing special. I didn't want mine "warmed up" but the worker did so anyways. He did offer to make me a new one, so that was kind of him. I ended up eating the "warmed up" one anyways. It was melting like crazy, so that's why the photos are lackluster.

Yummy! Make it your self ice cream sandwiches, what can go wrong? Only being too full. I had a Nutella cookie and s'more cookie with vanilla ice cream and my husband had chocolate chip and cookies and cream cookie and vanilla ice cream. There are many types of cookies and ice creams to combine. They warm the cookies if you want them. The staff is friendly and even though it busy they were speedy.

The Baked Bear is one of my all-time favorite spots. I come here multiple times every time I'm in town on vacation, and honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The ice cream sandwiches are incredible, and the cookies are always fresh and delicious. That said, I was disappointed with the service I received today from an employee named Gwen. When I walked up to the counter, I mentioned I would be ordering two sandwiches, and she cut me off with, "One order at a time," in a noticeably rude tone. I let it go and continued ordering, but things stayed rocky. She didn't ask if I wanted my sandwich heated, only if it was to go, so when it came out not heated, I politely asked if it could be warmed up. Again, she responded with attitude, even though I genuinely didn't know that "to go" meant it wouldn't be warmed. Later, when I asked for three cookies after my second sandwich came out, she told me I was "supposed to order that up there" and pointed back to where I had originally placed my order. I asked if she wanted me to get back in line, and instead of helping me in the moment, she replied, "Well, for future reference," with more attitude. This was confusing since she only let me order one thing at a time in the first place. I'll absolutely keep coming back to The Baked Bear because the desserts are amazing, but I really hope the customer service matches the quality of the food next time.

The Ultimate Spot for Sweet Tooth Cravings! When the sweet tooth calls, you must answer, and The Baked Bear has always been my go-to for satisfying those cravings! After going gluten-free, I was beyond excited to discover they offer gluten-free cookies, so I can still enjoy this little piece of heaven. Their gluten-free cookies are seriously the best -- soft, chewy, and full of flavor. Pairing them with the mint chip ice cream is always perfection. If you're looking for an indulgent treat, I highly recommend trying out the Big Bear for all your sweet tooth cravings -- you won't be disappointed!

Took the kids to get a ice cream sandwich. The employees were very friendly and patient with my kids. The ice cream sandwich was really good. Unfortunately I didn't listen to my lactose intolerant stomach telling me to stop but it was really good! Very creamy ice cream and fresh cookies. Be prepared to look for parking a long time or pay 12 dollars. But it's worth the drive.

I come to San Diego quite a bit, and one of my favorite parts is coming to the Baked Bear! I love this place. The best dessert! Their cookies, brownies, and ice cream are all amazing. It's also so fun to be able to make your own creation- and you really can't go wrong! It's all so good! Now- come to Utah! We love dessert here!

The wait to get in here was NOT fun, but the actual desert was delicious. I got the buttery cake cookie and baked bear ice cream, which were both really good. The sandwiches are HUGE, and I knew I couldn't finish it. The staff was friendly for the most part, although one girl was annoyed I asked for a particular cookie. Overall, I would recommend giving it a try (when the line is shorter. )

Found this ice cream/cookie spot while driving down Mission Blvd and decided to give it a try. I love how many options they have and the range of what you are able to pick: ice cream alone, ice cream sandwich, or a "bear bowl" which is like a Pizookie. I got the chocolate chip icecream between cookies and cream cookies. You can also add toppings such as hot caramel if you'd like. The price is very reasonable for how big the sandwiches are.
