The Bakehouse of Tarrytown

Tarrytown Bakehouse was the perfect ending to my Sleepy Hollow trip. I loved the cozy vibe and the incredible seasonal selection, from Halloween cookies to a savory jalapeño empanada. The Spider Cake was the absolute standout, one of the best I’ve had in New York! The staff was incredibly kind and patient, even helping me navigate the menu. I’m already planning a return trip to try the chai latte I missed. If you’re in the area, this charming spot is a must-visit!

If you happen to get on or off this metro north stop be sure to check out the Bakehouse. The Pulled Pork Empanada was different because it was very thin and not too crunchy. The taste was great and I’m so happy I tried it. Choo choo!

I visited Tarrytown Bakehouse during my trip to Sleepy Hollow, and it turned out to be an absolute delight — the perfect sweet ending to my day! The bakery had a wonderful variety of baked goods, seasonal treats, and Halloween-themed desserts. I tried their Halloween cookies, a cheese and jalapeño empanada, and their famous Spider Cake, along with some coffee. Everything was delicious, but the Spider Cake deserves a special mention — it was truly one of the most heavenly cakes I’ve had during my time in New York! The ambiance was warm and cozy, with friendly and patient staff who kindly helped me out when I wasn’t sure what an empanada was. I really appreciated their kindness. One thing I missed trying was their chai latte, which I’m definitely going back for next time. Overall, Tarrytown Bakehouse is a must-visit spot if you’re in the area — charming, delicious, and full of heart.

I finally stepped in to this establishment, and they did not disappoint. The staff is very attentive and greets everybody, and is willing to answer any and all questions related to their products. I grab some empanadas and I would highly recommend having their hot chocolate, but make sure it’s iced and they had these delicious cheddar cheese scallion biscuits The croissant was also delicious and flaky I would have tried a cupcake, but they are not cream filled, but that’s my own personal hangup

Been here a few times now. Not much in this area.. So this becomes the go to. Lots of pastries. Tried several of them and have not been disappointed. German chocolate cup cake, pecan topping perfectly sweet. Sausage sandwich on biscuit, bacon egg on biscuit, both a little greasy.. Think it's the cheese.. But delicious. BLT was good. Don't think you can go wrong, was all good. No begals here. Scones! They are yummy! Just a group of tables to sit at... Never had a problem finding a spot with party of 2 or 3.

This place is amazing!!! I love how this place used to be part of the train station as a waiting room. The pastries I got were PHENOMENAL!!!! I got an Iced Mocha and a Brookie. My Iced Mocha was the best one I’ve ever had, it was super tasty and rich in flavor! My Brookie though I wish I had tasted more of cookie and brownie flavors together because it mostly tasted of cookie. Other than that it was good. If you are ever in the area or going to Tarrytown Train Station to catch a train please give this place a try! I CAN’T RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH!!!!! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!!!

Prices are inflated and very misleading. Bacon egg and cheese is labeled as starting at 8.75 - already the most expensive bacon, egg and cheese in the world and on top of that, you will pay an additional $2-$3 for the bread choice you make which is not labeled. At the register you will fork over $11 before tip for the kind staff for a BEC biscuit. Essentially you are paying $9 for the bacon egg and cheese and then there’s a surcharge to actually make it a sandwich. This place seems to mostly be about convenience. In my opinion, not worth it - just visit a bakery in town. Additionally, the sandwich has a very small amount of bacon given the price

I’ve always really enjoyed The Bakehouse and have had many positive experiences here — the atmosphere is warm, the baked goods are usually delicious, and the staff has typically been kind and welcoming. That’s why this recent visit was especially disappointing. I purchased a doughnut that turned out to be stale. I didn’t want to waste it, so I politely asked whether I could exchange it and pay the difference for another item. The staff member opened the bag with doughnut (which had a piece missing ) and told me he couldn’t do anything. I explained that I genuinely couldn’t eat it because it was stale, but the response felt dismissive — there was an eye roll and a tone that made the interaction uncomfortable. All I wanted was an edible pastry to enjoy with my coffee. What made this so disappointing was the way it was handled. Making such a big deal over a doughnut felt unnecessary and, frankly, a bit combative (he insisted that the doughnut was not stale, though he hadn’t bothered to sample it, and passing by the Bakehouse after my evening commute you can clearly see in the windows that bakery goods are kept for next day)— especially at a place I’ve otherwise associated with generosity and care and stellar customer service. I hope this was an off moment, because I’ve always loved this bakery and would like to continue supporting it. A little flexibility and kindness in situations like this would go a long way.

While traveling, I always like to check out a local coffee shop. This place was probably the best I've ever been to. It's so incredibly cute inside of a train station and had an abundance of delicious looking baked goods. Additionally, you could see them making cakes from the shop, which was really cool. Today I grabbed an almond croissant, a miso peanut butter cookie, and a hot chocolate. I think I'll dream about all three for years to come, absolutely delicious! Service was prompt and everyone was kind.

Simply delicious! I have been here on multiple occasions for breakfast, coffee and sweet treats and have never been disappointed. Tucked away in the Tarrytown train station this spot is serving up some incredible goods. This is the perfect spot for a pre-train snack or stroll through on a Sunday for a delectable breakfast sandwich. The cakes and cupcakes are so good. They stayed fresh in a container for a week after a birthday! Not that I couldn't eat them sooner but I was so impressed they stayed just as fresh days later! There is plenty of seating inside or take it to go and hop on the train! I wish they had some outdoor seating, but they are literally on the train platform after all. Highly recommend making this a destination by car or train!

Lots of seating. They close promptly at 3pm. So get there before then. A wide variety of baked goods and some savory items. The Halloween cookies all looked amazing. The ciabatta was the best I've ever had in my life. I wish I bought two. It was so soft and fluffy. The pastries were yummy.

I was in the area so I wanted to try this place out. This place is awesome! I had a Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a ciabatta roll. This was sooooo delicious! It was out of this world! I also had their Strawberry/Orange refresher which was equally as good. This place has a good vibe located in the Metro Station area in Tarrytown. Lots of seating to enjoy all the delectable goodies! The service was first rate and fast. I would come here again in a heartbeat!

One of the best cappuccinos I have ever had! Delicious scones, pecan pie, cookies! Everything I bought was excellent. Service was great. The ambience is pleasant and relaxing for a quick coffee break or lunch. I do miss some of the wonderful items that were sold in Ardsley, but no longer available in Tarrytown. Parking is a little difficult if you happen to arrive when a train is arriving, as people are lined up waiting to pick up riders. But if you wait a few minutes, you can get a spot. Worth the trip!

Adorable spot with a delicious cherry hand pie and chocolate babka bun. Heated up the babka bun and loved it. Also love the space itself with its tall ceilings, tons of light and tables, right by the train. Classic. 5 stars!!!

Fresh bakery items to satisfy your sweet or savory tooth! Service was excellent and the ambience is casual. So many delicious baked goods from cakes, cupcakes, fruit tarts, cake pops, and to go cookie boxes. Such a convenient location where the Tarrytown train station is located. You can sit and eat there or take your items home. My recommendation if you're having trouble choosing is the mixed bag of cookies. My sister had the apple turnover and a scone! She highly recommends both! Super delicious!!!!

What a great spot right next to the train station. Pull right up to the front...no meters. Park. Run in and smell the freshly baked goodies. Then....good luck narrowing down what you're going to indulge in. I had an easy time choosing stuff since I was grabbing a goody box for one of my colleagues. Apple cider donuts, funfetti cookies, chocolate cherry cookies and various shortbread cookies decorated like pizza, dinosaurs and Spider-Man. (Yes-he has a five year old....but he also eats like a little kid, so win-win). Reasonable prices , super nice service and other options like breakfast sandwiches and coffee are available. Lots of seating if you want to hang out and enjoy snacks inside.

I considered not writing this review because we (my wife and I) didn't venture to The Bakehouse of Tarrytown for any reason other than looking for a place that had breakfast and didn't have a massive line out the door (there was a line, but more on that in a minute). But after stumbling upon it, we're definitely happy we did to the point where I would be remiss if I didn't write up this review and give it the five stars it deserves! Honestly, the only reason we ended up here was because everywhere else in Tarrytown on this mid October weekend was mobbed. There were lines and crowds and pretty much made it hard to want to get some grub from any of these joints. The Halloween hoards of humans is definitely something Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow has a hard time keeping up with, but some spots make it worth the wait and The Bakehouse is one of them! Like I mentioned, we stumbled upon this bakeshop (that was once a train station plaza) which had a decent line, but differently to other places, it had some seating available and didn't feel as claustrophobic. What was also impressive to see was the massive menu of pastries, salads, sandwiches, and other hot breakfast foods. We chose to get a raspberry square and a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. The young man behind the counter was helpful in recommending what kind of bread and told us the kitchen was a little backed up so it might be about 15-20 minutes before the sandwich was ready (it ended up being shorter than this which he also said he thought it would be). After paying, we found a seat and sat to split that raspberry square while we waited for the egg handheld. Oh man was that square good. It tasted fresh, fruity, and flavorful. Once the sandwich was ready we decided to take it on the move and ate it in a nearby park, but dang was it hot, gooey from the cheese, and downright delicious. I was interested in getting coffee from there before we left, but we had already had a cup so perhaps this will be a reason to come next time (I'd definitely come back!). Overall, The Bakehouse of Tarrytown is legit. It earns those Yelp stars for its total score and deserves the accolades for serving up some great food options, helpful service, and an interior location that can handle the seasonal crowds a little better than some other spots. Definitely check em out and wait on that line. It's worth it!

Lovely atmosphere and staff as well as delicious pear frangipane tarts! They're a family favorite now. Definitely check this place out if you can!

Delicious. Always a good sign when most tables are full. Came on a Saturday morning and the place was busy, with a pleasant buzz of conversation. The coffee was perfect - a latte with wonderful foam and flavor - and a very yummy egg, bacon, and cheese on ciabatta bread. I planned to get a cinnamon roll but got the savory option instead, no regrets. If I were local, I would definitely come back.

Love this place. It's an old train station. They bake on premises. I originally walked in asking for a bagel and didn't have any and I had a ciabatta with butter and it's been my go to for the last eight months They make the best ciabatta. The spinach goat quiche is also amazing. The service is pretty quick which is convenient when you're running to catch a train.

Located inside the train station! Plenty of seating and very cute and clean inside. Super friendly spot: the coffee was so tasty. I sipped and even was surprised for a moment because cafe coffee can often be mediocre but this one was delightful. I also got an egg sandwich on a biscuit, a raspberry bar and a chocolate covered Oreo and they were all delicious. Definitely would return.

I've always stopped here on my way back to Rockland County whenever I have business on the Westchester side because I am in love with their everything croissant and their coffee is really good. My only issue is how they sneak in a ridiculous charge of $1.50 if you get a splash of oat milk instead of cow's milk. One might say that's not much but considering the coffee is expensive the croissants expensive and I have to pay a buck fifty to park, a coffee and a croissant cost me around $12. That's crazy. Service is cordial and the ambiance iffy & weird considering the nice space they inhabit. I can't put my finger on why though.

We were taking the train into NYC for the day, and stopped at the Bakehouse for breakfast while we waited. They had some good looking desserts. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, which we had to ask for it to be made fresh. There were SO many flies landing on the food where the sandwiches were that it was rather gross. We also got a croissant, which was OK. We ordered two coffees, which were nothing special. It cost about $28. The atmosphere was cool being in the old train station and they had quite a few people sitting to eat.

Great location nearby the train station and they have a parking lot with few spaces and we found the last parking spot. Breads were creative and my god mom had a spinach pastry which she said was good

When you exit the train, you might expect crowds, craziness, & absolute chaos (especially during the spooky Halloween Season). HOWEVER, I was very pleasantly surprised by the Bakehouse of Tarrytown. Dear reader, do you know the song "My House" by the famous singer FloRida? If not- let me just grab a pull quote for you. One lyric in this magnificent song reads "Make yourself at home, tell me where you been" which really encapsulates the experience in the Bakehouse. I feel that this cafe could be considered a home, as there is a very safe, protective energy surrounding this business. After a long train ride, this is exactly what the public needs. The staff was also extremely helpful, & I honestly felt like I could tell them about my travels, as the song "My House" states. Also, if you're wondering about the food... let me tell ya... they got quite the selection here. I personally tried the chocolate chip muffin, which was quite scrumptious. My dear friend had a rum-soaked chocolate danish, which was absolutely finger-licking incredible (& a great way to start off your morning!) Basically, what I'm trying to say... if you're looking for a good stopping point in your journey, or you're absolutely STARVING on the Hudson Line, the Bakehouse of Tarrytown is an excellent place to stop for sustenance. You won't regret it weary traveler!

What an extraordinary find. Their menu of freshly baked items is exceptional, as well as the diversity of quality made products. I finally found a bakery that had perfectly made scones. The bakehouse in the former train station has a old town flavor that makes you want to stay and just savor the variety of baked items with exceptionally well made coffee.

A Hallmark perfect bakehouse. I took the Hudson Line to Tarrytown for Halloween weekend. Picture this: autumn leaves, crisp air, and quaint Halloween decor. After exiting the train, I was greeted with the most delicious smells from The Bakehouse. Bustling groups of families and friends eyes were lit up with delight from the cases of baked goods. I felt like I was in the cutest Hallmark movie ever! The Bakehouse has an amazing assortment of savory and sweet foods as well as an extensive beverage list. Food included empanadas, focaccia, pastries, and more! I ordered an iced tea and baked apple cider donut. The donut was the best seasonal item I've had so far! I'll definitely be coming back for the focaccia, considering the high quality and variety!

air conditioning!!!! in town for a wedding. a group of us came here. lots of different coffee drinks. place is clean, lots of seating and clean bathrooms. great sandwiches and desserts. but they are only opened until 2pm on saturday? got a chicken salad sandwich. was tasty but had a tad too much mayo. check it out

This bakery alone is reason enough to move to Tarrytown! I live across the river but take the train to NYC occasionally, which was how I discovered this amazing cafe. First off, their almond croissant is absolutely the best in the world - as an almond croissant aficionado, I have tasted many many :-) - we buy them to take home wherever we pass through this station. Other items are of equal calibre in taste and quality. Most recently we sampled their savory biscuit, mushroom cheddar quiche and beef empanada, plus homemade lemonade. That was when we got the impulse to check out real estate prices in Tarrytown haha! Service is always friendly and attentive. The cafe is in the old defunct ticketing office/waiting hall, with a bathroom for all passengers (no purchase required for using the bathroom facilities). The entire place is artfully decorated and diligently kept pristine, hardly expected of a busy railway station. If you pass through this station, stop by this cafe/bakehouse for an unforgettable culinary experience!

Super staff selling a wide variety of freshly baked goods: bread, empanadas, croissants, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, etc. as well as salads, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks... Other train stations must be jealous. Super glad they're there.

This is my new favorite place! The best apple turnover I've ever tasted in my entire life! Crispy flaky apple deliciousness! I'm also a huge fan of the scones which are very moist and the lemon blueberry is perfection. Cupcakes are Stunning and taste great, not overly sweetened which I like. I dream about the cheddar chive biscuit! The workers couldn't be any nicer and go out of their way to make you sandwiches in the kitchen if the one you see isn't available. They are very helpful and extremely efficient. It's a wonderful experience!

The cheddar scallion biscuits will make you happy for a week. Awesome Christmas cookies. Croissants are light and flaky. Excellent sandwiches and empanadas too. Friendly staff. Lots of staff so if you're trying to catch a train you will experience quick service thiugh it can be hard to decide among so many great options. Get them all!

Honestly I love this place! I come often as I commute in and out of the city almost everyday. The workers are normally very friendly with the exception of one. Overall I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a bite to eat or drink.

The scones and egg sandwiches here are amazing. I mean really great. Worth every penny. Always crowded on weekends but efficient service.

2024 Nov. Great Apple Turnovers, but they need to work on Not keeping their customers on hold when calling. They never picking up the call. I ended up waiting 15 minutes then hanging up. This happed 3 times.

Fantastic food, nice employees- we come out of our way to come here! Definitely try the quiche's and the samosa burrito.

Since they moved from Ardsley, the selection, & quality isn't the same. It's seems like they downsized just so they could fit a few tables and chairs in for commuters. It was also hard to see what they had as all the display cases were fogged up with condensation.

Friendly staff and great service. Delicious apple cranberry scone. Perfectly crisp on outside with soft inside. Not too crumbly. Great paired with matcha latte or coffee while waiting on the train. In addition to a wide variety of bakery, they also had salads, and a few sandwiches.

We were in the area and happened to encounter this bakery right next to the train station. Honestly my expectations weren't too high for a bakery at that location but to my surprise it was great! Loved how everything is very fresh and we tried a few things. Matcha latte was yummy, croissant sandwich was so savory, and the chocolate cupcake was also a hit! Overall great location, super convenient and has everything one is looking for. They offer cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and you can preorder as well! There's parking there available as well. Prices are reasonable.

Cute little cafe and coffee shop tucked inside Tarrytown's train station. Feels whimsical that you can get a treat and coffee and wait for your train, you don't see that anymore these days! They have coffee from Coffee Labs, another Tarrytown local. Cute custom cakes, cookies, cupcakes, pastries, and even meals like quiche and sandwiches, burritos, Mac and cheese to take home. Staff was really nice and friendly too!

Omg so good. Like delicious...the egg breakfast sandwich on a ciabatta is so so good and I highly recommend the little mini cheesecakes. Everything is excellent here to be honest - good coffee, quick service, cute spot inside the train station. It is a little expensive overall...but I mean, pretty par for the course for the location.

Not sure who had the idea to open all these bakeries on top of Metro North stations, but great friggan idea! As the name of the place suggests, this place is in the Tarrytown train station. While you'd think that a place like this doesn't need to put in any effort as they have a captive audience, nothing could be further from the truth. Cold brew coffee is pretty damned good, and I drink a ton of cold brew. Halloween cookies were awesome in terms of flavor and also creativity. Crossaint was really good. Cakes look good and I'll be trying them soon. This place is a Godsend if you're commuting. Bravo!

Absolutely delightful shop right at the train station! The baked goods were delicious and the shop charmingly decorated for the holidays. Staff were very friendly.

Fabulous baked goods and coffee. Their carrot cake is to die for. The owner has run bakeries for decades, her experience shines through.

Out of all the Bakeries I went over the years, This is DEFINITELY deserves a 5 Star Rating. The Cookies and the cupcakes really taste so amazing and fresh. Going back there really when I return to Tarrytown will be on my bucket lists. There are no words to describe how delicious the food, it's like my grandma made those. Staff there are also great too

I love this full service bakery at the train station. Their dessert options are so good from cookies to cakes to cupcakes and tarts. I stop regularly for a cappuccino . It's a go-to for coffee and a treat with friends in the neighborhood. The space is beautifully restored and comfortable. The staff is superb and so friendly.

Bakehouse is super! Great location, nice coffee options as well as teas. The baked goods are phenomenal and I'm not a chicken salad fan but...I do like the southwest chicken salad. The breads and goodies are always on point. Quick stop in whilst at the lovely park across the train tracks and saw these beautiful cookies. The worker was so upbeat and pleasant, it's not my first stop in and last time a different worker was equally a gem.

If you are traveling to New York on the Hudson River Line or looking for the Washington Irving's headless horseman and quick bite at the Bakehouse will give you the perk you need. The coffee is good and the pastries were delicious. Service was quick and friendly. Try the crumb cake with your cup of coffee!

I was excited to come here before heading off to work in NYC because I recalled that they had good coffee. I ordered a large iced caramel latte with oat milk. I saw the girl make it and it was one tiny shot of espresso with a huge cup of oat milk which she poured the espresso into. This is not a latte, and if I'm paying almost 10$ for a large, I'd like two shots of espresso, seeing as the small also has one shot. I am a coffee fanatic and this was just disappointing.
