Baker House

"How did it strike you on arrival?A historic home flanked by two modern hotels, the Baker House is equal parts charm and "oh, that's not what I expected." The charming building, constructed in 1885, houses an opulent Gilded Age parlor, with sunny lakeside views, and homey digs. Outside, though, two sprawling hotels cut through the illusion of unobstructed lakefront property (a case where the Instagram doesn't match the IRL scene). What’s the crowd like?Guests flock to Baker House for its old-school charm and luxurious furnishings, trying to tap the wealthy turn-of-the-century vibe that attracted well-heeled vacationers to Lake Geneva in the first place. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. With only four rooms in the whole property, Baker House is an exclusively luxe experience. The nationally registered historic property was renovated in 2011, and each room boasts a different personality, with colorful wallpaper, luxe furnishings, and grand textiles. Overlooking Lake Geneva, the Provence room features opulent blue toile window treatments, 1920s Art Deco accent furniture, and a hand-carved working wood fireplace. A spa bathroom with heated floors, a deep tub, and steam shower provides another getaway, while exclusive access to the grounds' English garden allows guests to reimagine yesteryear. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Down and memory pillows are available, and the custom-made king-sized beds are a continent in their own right, with natural fiber linens for maximum luxury. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Oh, the Gilded Age touches are enough to make a museum curator salivate—like 12 rare Gibson Girl lithographs, antique chandeliers and sconces, and even 1880s carved scrimshaw. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. Each bathroom is an escape in itself, from a gilt wood Victrola-turned-sink and vintage tiles, to modern era heated floors, steam showers, and jacuzzi jets. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Yes, Wi-Fi is available to guests. Room service: Worth it?Room service is available from the downstairs kitchen, with brunch, dinner, and cocktails available until 10 p.m. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.For pool access, visit nearby sister property, The Maxwell House. Parking is available, and guests have exclusive access to the English gardens overlooking Lake Geneva. A basement speakeasy is available to guests but also the public. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? The basement speakeasy—they turn out perfect classic cocktails in an intimate environment. Bottom line: worth it, and why?For turn-of-the-century charm and opulence, Baker House delivers on all fronts." - Antonio Basada

We went here for the Sunday brunch and it was such a nice experience! We sat right by the windows and were able to look out at the lake while eating brunch. Beautiful view. The food was also delicious and high quality for a brunch buffet! The staff was great at filling up our bottomless mimosas frequently. You can also request made to order eggs Benedict. The dishware and silverware was beautiful as well. I highly recommend this place for an elevated and unique experience.

I attended the New Year’s Eve Time Traveler’s Ball at Baker House, and unfortunately, it was nothing like advertised. The promotional description promised an exciting celebration with “DJ Illya spinning an electrifying mix to take you dancing across the centuries,” creating the expectation of a true ballroom experience with room to dance, multiple event spaces, and a lively atmosphere fitting of a New Year’s celebration. That was not the reality. Upon arrival, we were escorted directly to the basement Speakeasy and told that this was where the “party” would take place. The advertisement referenced a “ball,” leading many guests to assume the celebration would include access to other rooms throughout the house. Instead, the entire event was confined to a small basement bar area. There was no room to dance. The so called dance floor allowed space for maybe five people at a time, with absolutely no room for anyone else to join. The basement Speakeasy couldn’t have been more than a few hundred square feet, and certainly nowhere near what anyone would consider a ballroom. Calling this event a “ball” feels incredibly misleading. The space was so tight that many guests ended up stuck in the basement hallway just trying to access the bar. There was little room to move, let alone celebrate. With the entire crowd funneled into one tiny area, even ordering a drink felt chaotic and uncomfortable. I truly cannot understand how a cramped basement bar is marketed as a space to “dance across the centuries.” It wasn’t festive, functional, or reflective of the event description. Many guests, myself included, left well before midnight. The evening was an absolute disappointment. I cannot recommend this venue for New Year’s Eve celebrations. If you’re looking for a fun night out to ring in the New Year, I strongly suggest skipping this venue in the future. There are far better options for a celebration that feels joyful, spacious, and worth the investment.

My best friends from college & I booked dinner reservations months in advance. We checked in for our 7 pm dinner & were told by the hostess they were severely backed up & it should only be another 15 minutes to be seated. By 7:20 pm we noticed other guests who’d arrived after us being seated, so we asked if we could at least be seated. By 7:30 pm, we were seated but then told due to short staffing (& their head chef walking out/quitting during the evening) that dinner would likely not be served for at least another hour. We ordered a seafood nacho platter which came with tortilla chips & veggies/queso but no visible seafood. The appetizer looked like something you’d order off a Chili’s or low-end chain restaurant menu. We put in our dinner order, but it was not served until 9:30 pm (remember, our dinner reservation was for 7 pm) The salmon was dry, the medallion filets were charred, tasteless, & dry, the garlic mashed potatoes were cold & chunky/not creamy & mashed, & they gave a teriyaki/sesame seed type dipping sauce which did not match for the meats ordered. The food & slow service was SO bad that it was hilarious. The only highlight/saving grace was our server Melanie. It was not her fault & she was profusely apologetic. She comped a few of our drinks, but the entire bill was NOT worth the money we paid. The mansion is gorgeous, the ambiance of the historic building is enchanting, but for the price we paid having made reservations so far in advance to not eat cold/charred food until 2.5 hours into our reservation was maddening. The Baker family is likely rolling in their graves to know what their establishment has been turned into.

Google
Hero to Zero Utterly disappointed! The heyday of this grand operation has passed. Extremely impersonal experience compared to prior ownership. We were the only overnight guests on our own, we were given a key with the responsibility of locking up the front door of the house if we were in/out prior to 10am or 10pm. The real ghosts in the house are the guests. No one checks in and asks if you need replenishing of toiletries, amenities, or sheets. Zero communication. Cameras everywhere which we thought was odd and invasive, but clearly due to the short staff and need for surveillance. From what I remember in previous years, there was SO much charm, attention to detail, and to get a spot in the dining area, let alone stay overnight was difficult due to the popularity. The sheets/towels were clean which was great, but unfortunately the comforter was musty like it hadn’t been dried after a wash. Morning coffee service consists of self serve Keurig station outside in a Dos Hombres mug. Nothing screams Vintage Victorian like a tequila cup. Don’t get me wrong if this was an Airbnb stay this would suffice, but for a 1k stay .. come on. The FEW staff are clearly operating on a shoestring budget which reflected in the food. A man approached our table at dinner without introduction and mentioned how he enjoyed the view of this table for which we later found out he was the owner. After 2 busts of meals and a quick look at recent reviews, we bailed on the brunch so we weren’t left with one more disappointment. Don’t let the 4/5 stars fool you, read the RECENT reviews first!!

My wife and I had been to the restaurant before - and decided "we should stay over night". So... a couple years after our first dinner there, we did so. Spacious. We stayed in the Versailles Turret room - excellent views of Lake Geneva. There are 5 separate rooms all with private bathrooms on the 2nd floor. There is a common sitting area with a table, chairs, a couch, and views of the lake. Excellently restored.

We didn't stay here or eat here. We came for the garden tea. It was their first one, so they are still tweaking it. The music wasn't live and couldn't finish a song. I think they were having issues with it. Unfortunately their menu didn't offer vegetarian options or we would have ordered. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the house! It was very well done. The guide did an excellent job and knew his stuff. You can tell he researched it out carefully. I'd definitely try it again and do recommend it. Certainly would be a fun thing to do as a group. The bar was cash only. Inside the tables were set so elegant and beautiful. It definitely drew you in.

Google
Was there for Brunch on Sunday 09/21/2025. Cant tell you how disappointing it was. We had noon reservations ( we were guests of the booked reservation) The facility was awesome, as was the service. The Brunch buffet was less than expected. The "Salad, fruit, meat, cheese table was awful. The food was not temperature controlled, with exception of the shrimp was on ice and barely available. The fruit tray was empty and wasn't replenished the entire time of our visit. There was potato salad that was at not iced and at room temperature. Basically the selections were not only not temperature controlled but limited. The hot foods were not at temperature to avoid food borne illness not to mention not much available. To get the sausage gravy you were scraping the bottom to obtain and was cold, the provided biscuits were hard, the egg bake was limited and cold, the sausage and bacon were plentiful in availability but cold, the salmon was readily available but cold. We ordered Eggs benedict directly from the kitchen that was cold, and the egg was hard upon delivery. I hate writing a review like this, but the food experience was absolutely awful! Service experience was outstanding!!!! Food was awful! Our host that invited us for dining paid the bill so I did not know the cost of the visit. I'm certain the cost was in excess of the quality. I wish this location success, however it needs to provide quality food for brunch! Once again the service was excellent, but the food was awful.

Wow! What a cool place! Ashely was our server and she was amazing, food came out fast and was very good. Coming from Chicago, prices were very reasonable given the unique venue. Would recommend to anyone coming up or down!

Yelp
We found the Bakerhouse the perfect setting for our wedding. What made it even better was the incredible staff. Their insight, help and planning enabled us to enjoy our stay. They were available always, friendly and the venue incredibly fun. The rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable. It was a perfect day!

Yelp
We stayed at the Baker House a couple of weeks ago while visiting the Lake Geneva area for the first time. The restaurant/bed and breakfast overlooks Lake Geneva. It is centrally located and close to all the restaurants and shops in the downtown area. We ate dinner at the Baker House the first night and also had Sunday brunch. We loved the cold table which had delicious meats and cheeses, yummy cold salads, shrimp cocktail, etc. We spent every night in the bar with bartender, Gianni. He was absolutely fantastic! He made the best drinks and was super sweet. If you're in the area, you must stop by the Baker House to see Gianni. We would most definitely stay at the Baker House again. We loved Gianni & manager, Kevin was also really nice.

Yelp
I stopped in to the Baker House on a work trip for some happy hour drinks. I am delighted to say the drinks are impressive as the architecture and views of the restaurant. Except crafted cocktails with a generous happy hour menu. When I'm in town, this will be my regular spot, I mean who can't not love the view with seasonal craft cocktails and a cozy atmosphere.

Yelp
Came up to Lake Geneva for a 30th birthday with a group of friends. Great dinner spot with amazing history. The dinner was cooked to protection and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend and will dine again!

Yelp
We went to Mother's Day Brunch at Baker House. It was very disappointing. There were two highlights: our server was friendly and attentive and the Bloody Mary's were good. The food offerings were limited and the food was fair at best. This was not what we expected from Baker House.

Yelp
We had a great girl's trip here with my 7 year old, sister and 16 year old niece. The ambiance was wonderful and the service was amazing. When our tower of snacks came out it was abundant and varied. I was a touch worried there wouldn't be enough to constitute a meal, but we were all left full and then some. The hats hanging all around this restaurant kept my 7 year old entertained for an hour. The tour offered as part of the High Tea experience was thorough and interesting. We definitely plan on making a trek to Lake Geneva at least once a winter to enjoy this very fun activity!

Yelp
Have never been and went for our wedding anniversary. The service staff was very warm welcoming and allowed us to choose where we wanted to sit. I initially sat at a "couch" table, but found myself sinking into the couch so much that I could hardly reach the table. The server kindly brought over a chair for me. The space itself is breathtaking and is an absolute time traveling experience. My wife had the scallop dish and I had the rabbit and a bowl of bison chiI've had rabbit before, but this was the best I've ever had. The cocktails were mediocre in my opinion, but got the job done. Afterwards we went to the basement speakeasy to watch and listen to a four piece jazz band. This was a great experience and highly recommend it. Drinks were also reasonably priced.

Yelp
This place used to be great. Now it's just sad. The food was almost inedible. Biscuits so hard I couldn't cut them. Scrambled eggs so watery they left fluid on my plate. Salmon so fishy I am not sure it was even salmon.

Beth S.

Yelp
So disappointing! Several years ago, we loved their Sunday brunch which we had frequented. But we went yesterday for Mother's Day and it was nothing like we experienced previously. Not only was the food selection greatly reduced but much of it wasn't very good -- soggy, drenched French toast, watered down mimosas, Caesar salad with way too much dressing and cheese stuck together, poor tasting eggs Benedict, very little in the way of meat. And we paid $65! On the positive side, Baker House is charming in its ambiance and the service was good. Unfortunately we won't be returning.

Yelp
My fiancé and I tried this restaurant as a potential spot for our wedding dinner. We are SOLD! The food was great, our drinks were great, the atmosphere is absolutely lovely, and our server (Thomas) was so kind and polite. We were shocked that it wasn't busier! We had crab cakes and the tenderloin medallions. So good!
google avatar

Yelp
I don't know what happened to the Baker house. A year ago we went there for the first time and were very happy with everything from food to service. This time was a complete disaster. Server was flustered and disorganized, plates were dirty (one of the plates even had a large poop looking chunk stuck to it's bottom). Food looked like it was reheated in a microwave and tasted horrendously bad. Lamb was overcooked and "white spruce pesto" it came with was inedible. Fish was so sweet that it tasted like someone threw a table spoon of sugar on it. Crab dip came with burnt crackers. None if it matched a 250$ check we got in the end. I would give it 1 star but beautiful interior and fun bar downstairs redeemed it to 2.

Yelp
The food was great! The service was amazing! And the Ambiance is beautiful and unique.

Yelp
We've been here many times for brunch and have enjoyed it, so we made reservations for Mother's Day to celebrate weeks in advance. The Monday before our reservation, we received a request to pay in advance. This is understandable as the restaurant needs to plan accordingly for a high volume days like this; however, the request for payment was $65 per person and it's normally $48. I asked as to why the sudden increase and if there were other items they were including to justify the increase. The response was eggs Benedict. To me this is not an item to warrant such an increase when they normally have items like prime rib. In the end the gentleman stated the increase in price really was really based on the high demand. To me this is just plainly an unethical business practice (the week of the event). We will not be returning to The Baker House. Do to my stubbornness, I will now have to find another option for Mother's Day the week of. Shame on me...

Yelp
Over priced. Host/piano player was rude. Food was very mediocre. Drinks, with the exception of the cucumber martini, we're not good. Can't recommend. Won't be back.

Yelp
Went to the Baker House for dinner as a couple for a special dining night out. The ambiance was fantastic. There were few people there as it was January. It was quiet; service was great. Excellent filet.

Yelp
Complete lack of covid safety precautions. We made reservations on open table, arrived and were asked to wait in the front area while the hostess took a phone call. She pulled her mask down to speak on the phone. The lobby was packed full of people with no regard for social distancing, the bar was also fully seated with a maskless bartender. Wait staff was going back and forth to the kitchen without masks. Once seated, I felt more comfortable as the room was quite empty, but soon after the table next to us was seated and they were less than 3 feet from us. The tables are not even distanced properly. Aside from the covid violations and disregard for public safety, the food and drinks were phenomenal. We enjoyed the prime rib and roasted duck, followed by a key lime pie. I'd highly recommend these entrees. If you're thinking of dining with Baker House, get your food to-go or wait until the pandemic is over. With so many restaurants doing it right, Baker House is not worth the risk. Honestly, we should have left at the start.

Yelp
Very good steak with a helpful staff, building needs repairs, bathroom had napkins as a means to dry hands

Yelp
Awful service! We waited over an hour to get our drinks or even a glass of water. Our orders came out wrong and they ran out of their main entree at 7pm and they're menu only consists of 5 things. I will never return.

Laura J.

Yelp
It was a fun experience. The mansion is beautiful. We went for brunch. Our waitress struggled to keep the coffee and mimosas filled in a timely manner. Some of the food was cold but overall decent. Not sure I would do this again but I did enjoy it!

Yelp
Wow this place is a gem. Me and my mom came here for the Saturday afternoon high tea at 1pm. It was such a lovely experience. The breakfast tea was robust in flavor and absolutely delicious, and the sandwiches and pastries were delightful and not too sweet. The house itself has so much character and history. The high tea comes with a tour and every suite and room is so unique. The hotel has a nice quaint bar with a fireplace, and there is a speakeasy lounge in the basement that has live jazz on Friday nights. I found a place to have high tea every month or so. I am very happy with this hotel and can't wait to attend the events they have. They have brunch on Sunday's with a variety of options on the menu, and a champagne garden that is going to be sponsored by La Marca Prosecco for the summer. This place is one of my favorite places I've ever been since I moved to Wisconsin a couple of years ago. I highly recommend it for its rich history, good food, kind staff, and ambiance.

Leah I.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed with the brunch. Poor food selection, bad quality, stale dessert and awful presentation. Was there 6 years ago, and loved it. Now it's a disaster. Will not come back.

Yelp
Had bunch scheduled for a 8 person group, service was slow.. reservations @9:30 am brunch starts @9:30am... food ready closer to 10/10:15, omelette station and eggs Benedict station ready closer to 11, guy making omelets & eggs Benedict was extremely crabby and un pleasant he was very open to talk about how he's doesn't do this normally and how they were short handed and it was noticeable he didn't want to do it either and was annoyed by each persons ordered!! Unlimited mimosas on the brunch menu, round #1 dumped on the back of one of my guests in her hair, on her coat, down her back, glasses shattered... (accidents happen of course we understand.. but then the exact thing happed to the table Next to us an hour later hmm, all over guests coat too, more glasses shattering!) first round of mimosas half and half mixture of OJ and champagne DELICIOUS , 2nd round more OJ then champagne, 3 round straight OJ no more champagne your done so much for UNLIMITED!!! I work and own a local business in the service industry, I treated all of my employees/friends to brunch as we work all day with no official Iunch break, no time to sit down to ever eat a hot meal, this was our Christmas Celebration , we are well aware of how to make Things work when your short handed , have people sick or don't show for work, you NEVER make people feel bad for coming into your establishment, you put on a smile , suck it up and do the very best u can to give them a GREAT experience, and Kill Them with kindness!!!! I was also highly disappointed by the missing food items that weren't provided yet advertised on the menu.. no mashed potato bar, no biscuits and gray and a sad attempt at eggs Benedict's. Sorry to say my first visit to Baker House for a wedding celebration was great this Brunch was NOT and for the extreme cost and the service issues and food quality I would NOT recommend or return!!!

Eve M.

Yelp
Update to my review! Management sent me a note that I have been banned. Probably due to my negative review. Now I understand why this place is so bad - it's the management! They don't accept negative feedback which means they don't see the problems....Sad, this used to be a good restaurant.

J S.

Yelp
Too bad this old mansion was so disappointing. Was seated on " inside" veranda. 2 vents right below our small end type table. We had to put menus over the vents because of the cold air blowing on us. Service was amazingly hard to get through. Server did not know the menu, and the actually seemed like she was stumbling through it making up answers. Medium rare hanger steak came out literally raw. All they had to do was throw it on the grill for a few minutes and we would be good to go. It literally took 20 minutes for it to come out. The turbo Fish was equally not done with cold liquid- like center. No apologies- nothing. Decor was cluttered and nor clean. Would nor recommend.
google avatar

Elaine L.

Yelp
Great service despite them being short staffed. Dan took care of my husband and me during our pre-Christmas romantic dinner. Beautiful restaurant, we enjoyed walking around and admiring the Christmas decorations. Definitely worth a trip!

Yelp
Gin and Jazz - Friday night in the Boiler Room Bar. We went to this Fiday night only event and were surprised by how nice the space was, albit pretty small. It is in the basement of the Baker House. The Jazz trio that was playing was great but with the space so small the Bassist needed to turn down his amp as he over powered the room and the fine playing of the pianist and drummer. The bartender was dressed in a short cocktail dress befitting the theme of the night and room. She needed to be much more attentive to customers, probably because she had friends in house. Drinks were served in cheap plastic cups and a G & T cost $11. I get the cost as there was no cover charge, but surely the Baker House can class up it's act and serve in glassware. An otherwise nice evening was dampened by the presence of an older over served single man who seemed it appropriate to do a loud "Wolf Howl" at a solo done or song he liked. Management should have nicely asked him to tone it down. We left early as this was annoying. We'll definitely go back for it is one of those hidden and unique experiences in Lake Geneva. A 5 Star review is very close with minor attention by management.

Sean W.

Yelp
Three is generous. The ambiance and history of the house is something worth seeing, but don't get overexcited about the menu. Lacked presentation, with minimal options. For the price the plates, you'd expect more. Drinks were also sub par. Pretty sure the specialty bourbon cocktail had .125 oz of bourbon. Couldn't even get a kiddie cocktail right. The live duet singing was the highlight. Cheers

Cassidy C.

Yelp
We went here for brunch which was expensive and subpar. For $48 a person you should get an omelet station and carving stations. Nope. Just tough French toast, greasy bacon and sausage, dry scrambled eggs, weird biscuits and gravy, some random dinner dishes, average desserts, soggy salad, some shrimp. They were out of salmon and almost out of fruit. Really disappointing. To top it all off, our waitress was terrible. We will not be going back.
google avatar

Brian G.

Yelp
Unfortunate victim of Yelp.. very cute place with all sorts of interesting rooms and seating options, but we walked here for small plates to share with a cocktail, and found out that they actually haven't had any shareable small plates in quite some time. I recommend calling them first since Yelp menu we saw turned out to be 4 years old..
google avatar

R. S.

Yelp
Was a strange evening from the beginning. Our meals were less than desirable. The presentation was something we've never experienced before .... fish fillets served skin side up. Just not appealing - and somewhat awkward removing the skins ourselves at the table. Plus the fillets fell apart as we were removing the skin. One dinner description included herbed spaghetti squash, and a white wine shallot beurre blanc. It was ordered but instead the meal was served without a beurre blanc, without squash, and atop a mound of ratatouille. I brought this to the attention of a server and was told they didn't have any squash. A sauce which was not originally served was brought out but it had a green tinge to it. I've never had a green beurre blanc before. They ended up subbing carrots for the ratatouille and those were quite good. But by the time I received the vegetables my protein for the most part had been eaten. What remained was cold. They appeared to be short staffed but were running multiple events at the same time. Lots of noise and activity. Maybe stretched thin in a few too many directions. Whatever it was, we won't go back and the evening was a solid disappointment. Beautiful building. But that's where it stopped for us.

Yelp
We have been coming to The Baker House for years. Last visited in 2021 and service was fine food was great. We were just in lake Geneva this weekend for our wedding anniversary. I made a reservation a week prior for Friday night. They called us on Friday in the afternoon to cancel the reservation! I was shocked. They said they were closing early today. Bizarre and very unprofessional canceling the day of. They offered us a reservation for Saturday and a free dessert we accepted. We arrived at 7:10 for our 7:15 reservation and we're told they were running 30-40 minutes behind. Not pleased but we got a drink and sat outside. Where many other people were also waiting to be sat. Another group also had a 7 pm reservation and they were never sat and left. We stayed and waited for 50 minutes and left. Also there was only 6 entrees on their menu which used to have many dishes. They're obviously understaffed and I assume poor management too. Really sad to see this restaurant go so downhill. It was always a favorite of ours.

Yelp
The place is really cool and nostalgic. Very cool place to visit and have a decent meal. The only thing is the staff is not very good with guests and customer service. We stood around for 20minutes before anyone even greeted us to seat us. Also, it can use better hygiene. Considering you dine here and it isn't cheap, you'd think they would keep it less dusty. It's a shame that it isn't better, considering the history and location... Not sure we will be back. If they cleaned regularly and trained for better dining service, it would be great.

Yelp
We went to the ice bar. $15/person for a ticket. You get one, small mediocre, at best drink, included. Cool ice sculpture but that's about it.

Yelp
We had our anniversary dinner here and really enjoyed our visit. Our server was really nice and her partner server as well. We sat with a couple who had way too much to drink so that's the only reason for not 5 stars. service was well paced with our drinks. (We came early and enjoyed a cocktail at the bar the new bar tender was very nice) My only hipster complaint is if they had a couple of themed drinks or something special that would have been nice. I ordered an old fashioned which actually was perfect! I wished the bartender had better communication with the waitstaff because they kept shouting orders at him and it was distracting at times. (Again he was still very nice and fast with us but the order machine needs to be at another location for line of sight or at a service station.) n Everyone was fairly new to the mansion so we didn't get much history but the owner?manager? Came by to chat and that was really nice as well. Overall staff was excellent and knowing how new they were I wouldn't excpect them them handle customers like that. Luckily we're super adaptable and the other couple of other tables were good sports so we all had a pleasant experience in the end. Only one other waitress was aware and/or addressed the obvious (it was her table) and made it humorous. I would definitely come back to enjoy the cabanas outside. I had the duck it was really good and fatty like any duck, my husband had the steak and we almost fought over the piece he gave me! It was awesome. Really great people working here and great chef! Now is the time to visit this place!.

Yelp
Fun girls weekend getaway for my Bestie's birthday. She was looking up things to do while we were here in Lake Geneva. She came across this nice gem TBH So, she made reservations for us to do a tour of the house. . It was only a 2 minute walk from The Cove where we were staying for the weekend. Very unique and interesting. Our hostess Courtney was amazing. She kept us engage with her wonderful personality. Spoke highly about the history of the house. Even though the tour was quick and we were only showed the first level of the house. It was still interesting and fun. One room had this gorgeous fireplace that I loved so much. This is such an historic place that is filled with some beautiful antiques. Absolutely stunning. The window view shows the lake. The next visit I would like to come and visit for the food or tea party. Before our tour we sat at the bar and all ordered the Raspberry Bellini. Very delicious.

Yelp
We went out for drinks and there's a speakeasy, it was so much fun, we met the owner, the bartender was really fun, her name starts with M. and what a great experience. We would love to go back.

Yelp
DO NOT BOOK YOUR EVENT HERE. I am beyond disgusted with how they conduct business. I was in communication with the event planner for over a month. We spoke through over 20 emails, and multiple phone calls as well. She discussed with me different plans and options for my party. Well last week I contacted her to put down a deposit. I never heard back after over a week, so I then got in touch with another girl who works there. She informed me that everything I was told by the EVENT PLANNER was wrong and impossible. The food would be impossible, using the garden wouldn't work, everything we had discussed was apparently now impossible! This even Included the event rental fee. She told me it would be an extra 1,500 dollars to rent the space than what I was originally told. How does the event planner not even know what the correct rental fee is?? These people are a scam. I spent over 300 dollars on decorations and I am now out the money. Instead of owning up to their mistakes and honoring what was promised to me for over a month, they told me there was nothing they could do. I have been trying to speak to the owner and have heard nothing. I am so beyond frustrated. Do not spend a dollar here. And especially do not plan an important/special event with them. On top of all of this, my future in laws went here during winter fest and said the place was a disaster. Understaffed, dirty and unorganized. They said the gazebos were filled with trash and it took 30 minutes to get a drink.

Yelp
We attended the high tea and had an extremely disappointing experience. Our server brought out the incorrect tea which was also lukewarm and tasted weak. Every other table around us had received their tower of sandwiches and pastries except for us. Our server told us multiple times it would be coming out soon but we were about an hour into our two hour allotted time before we got any food. All the other tables had ordered seconds of certain things and received them by this time. The tour of the house was supposed to begin by the time we got our food so we were unable to attend so we could have time to actually eat. The sandwiches themselves were not good. The bread was stale tasting and were awkwardly cut. The pastries tasted like they came from a grocery store and were mediocre and really the only saving grace of the meal. Our server was very absent and we had to track her down 3 times in order to ask for the check, cream, etc. We paid far too much for this lack luster experience only to not even be able to participate in everything that was offered.

Yelp
My family of four just had dinner here and while the house/restaurant has a lot of character, history and charm, the service and food fell short. The quality of the food was average and didn't live up to the price. My 20 year old daughter went with the $30 fish and chips and received two pieces of fish on top of French fries. My son (16 yr) and I both had the chicken pasta (approx. $27 each) which was flavorful but the portion size was a small bowl. We ended up getting him and my daughter something else to eat shortly afterwards. Shared fried ravioli appetizer, no cocktails, four entrees and no dessert was $150. Unfortunately, the service was not great. I ran out of my first glass of water about a third of the way through the meal and asked for a refill but could never get one. Same with my iced tea and my wife's tea. Our waitress seemed over whelmed with her other two tables so we didn't want to make a big deal out it. Seems way overpriced for the service and food.

Yelp
Wow, what a cool experience to dine at the magnificent old mansion. If you are visiting Lake Geneva, this place is a MUST VISIT! Hats are provided for all guest at The Baker House... It's a beautiful Victorian home that was originally built in 1885 as a 17,000 sq foot SUMMER home. Now a fantastic restaurant. Loved our dinner! Perfect for date night!

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. We went on a Monday so it wasn't busy & we could walk all over the house. The history is so neat. The house is so beautiful! The bread & butter they give you is so good! I think the butter had red peppers in it! It was amazing! My steak was amazing too! So soft but not chewy!

Yelp
If you guys aren't going to honor DoorDash figure it out on your end. Locals here and found out our order was canceled after an hour. Ridiculous.

Yelp
I am in love with this hotel! It is right in downtown lake geneva and literally right across the street from the lake. Its a vintage house filled with cute couches, classic paintings, beautiful decor, and hats to try on for fun. And I even saw the host spraying the hats to clean them! We went on a thursday evening around 5:30pm in august, reservations were not needed (but we were able to on open table). There are different themed rooms and we were sat in the music room where a very talented piano player came to play piano, trumpet, and sing throughout our meal. I would definitely call about this and request a spot to hear him. All the staff were super friendly and a lot of them wore clothes and hairstyles fitting with the era. So fun! And parking is free for dining guests for up to two hours on the side of the house. We ordered bruschetta (wish bread was more toasted but still very good) and our meals came with bread, and a small soup or simple salad to start. I got the chicken marsala (I've had better) and my husband got steak medallions (really good). Sides of simple grilled zucchini veggies and the best mashed potatoes ever were included. Then we finished with the chocolate mousse and creme brûlée for dessert. The dessert was the best part of the meal and my husband was raving about their cocktails. Next time we come into town we will definitely be dining here again. I love the atmosphere and I feel it is a place you have to go to when visiting lake geneva.

Yelp
Absolutely disgusting. Salad and fish were just okay. Veggies, potatoes, and bread were inedible. Very expensive. Worst meal I've had in years.

Yelp
A+ ambience. A for cocktails. But the food was not good unfortunately. The worst risotto we've ever had. It was overcooked and flavorless. The table next to us also was also disappointed in the risotto. The NY strips were overcooked, tough, and also missing seasoning. The biggest offender however was the chocolate "lava" cake. There was 0% molten center. It tasted like microwaved chocolate cake. Would go back for drinks but not food.

Yelp
The hats and the setting did not disappoint. We had fun exploring the rooms. The menu is small and they were out of things. Not many options at all.. like less than 10.. The lobster was delicious and cooked right. The cod was a bit hard on the outside. Steak skewer appetizer is just like you grill at home--peppers, onions and steak cooked to perfection. I'm sure their menu lacks variety due to the virus..

Yelp
The good days of the Baker House are unfortunately over. We had 12:15pm reservations to celebrate my first Mother's Day, which I was excited about since I used to love coming for Sunday brunch here growing up. We walk in and there was no host until 12:35pm. Once she did appear, she snapped at other customers (around the same time a chef came out of the kitchen yelling at other staff too). It was obvious they were understaffed and stressed, so we tried to be understanding. That patience faded when they finally took us to our table at 12:50pm only to be chastised by a server that another table was sitting there and were up at the buffet. We had our stroller with us and there was no other table that could fit us. We tried ditching the stroller but the only place for the car seat would've been the floor, which wasn't safe for anyone given the narrow walkway. Finally they tell us we can sit at a table for 8 (we were confused too) once it's bussed. They had us stand there while that table was finishing up. Another 20 minutes goes by and no one comes to clean it off so my husband finally started bussing it himself until we realized how filthy the tablecloth was. He asked a server if they had others and she told him he could get one from the basement (!!!). We go to sit elsewhere realizing this wasn't going to work out and we were told by yet another server that we couldn't sit there (completely empty room) so they put us in a different completely empty room with filthy tables all around. At this point it's more than an hour past our reservation time. No server came by with water or anything like that so I eventually just go to the buffet to see what that's about. To say it was filthy would be an understatement with food crusted over on the serving utensils that had been sitting out and nearly empty dessert trays. I ended up just asking my husband if we could leave and go elsewhere. He was hesitant given the long waits everywhere since it was Mother's Day, but I couldn't justify staying. At this point it was 1:30pm and our sleeping baby wasn't going to be sleeping for much longer (we had timed his feeding to coincide with the reservation). It'd be one thing if they would've acknowledged what was happening, but to yell at customers and be more than an hour past reservation times is unacceptable. I feel bad for the stretched thin staff, but worse for the families coming here to celebrate a special occasion. I'm super bummed because of all the great memories I have here, but this is officially crossed off the list from any future visits.

Yelp
Here for birthday in January on a Saturday night, as they have outside tent-like seating. Get there, waited 30 minutes...rude hostess couldn't find our reservation, but then found it for Tuesday. She said, "why'd they put it down for Tuesday, we're not even open?" Looks at us, no apology, no explanation, just a rude, "we'll try to find something...". Okay...got us a dirty, cold tent whose little heater didn't work. Expensive, dirty, rude, not so good food. Take a pass.
