Stopped in for the first time while waiting for the bus to go home from an appointment in the area on Wednesday... Honestly, it was because I had 9 minutes to spare before the scheduled bus and it was freezing out, but OMG.
It was like walking into Santa's workshop or something. Super charming shop (I don't need to tell you how AMAZING the inside of a bakery smells) with all kinds of novelties and baked goods lining the walls, refrigerated cases full of treats, bustling with staff and customers and you can look through to the kitchen... It's really just a very cool, completely whimsical feeling place. Like being inside a fairy tale.
I grabbed a slice of blueberry cake, and found out it was lemon blueberry cake (even better) but was in a hurry, so I didn't bother to add anything else.
The staff was soooo nice. Friendly, engaging, helpful, suggestive in the best way. Like I literally have not one negative about this place (except that they don't have eclairs Lol).
When I got outside, the bus had come early and it was 20 minutes til the next one, so, I went back in.
I kept adding things and finally left with a nearly overflowing bag containing a slice of chocolate cake, a cheesecake bar, a key lime bar, a carrot cake cupcake, a slice of Jewish apple cake, and a tub of chicken salad with cranberries and almonds (and the lemon blueberry slice I purchased a few minutes earlier).
Now listen... My dad makes me a lemon blueberry cake or a carrot cake every year for my birthday, and he makes a Jewish apple cake every year for the holidays... My sister makes amazing cheesecakes, y'all have seen what I can do with a chocolate cake, I go to Florida twice a year just for stone crabs and key lime pie, and I just finished my own batch of turkey salad with cranberries and pecans so my standards are pretty high for all of the things I purchased. Lol.
When I tell you not one thing in this haul was disappointing. Lol. I had to look up their insta so I could follow cuz I am in love (thebakeryhouse604).
Seriously can't believe I've been seeing a doctor out there regularly for six years and never ventured into the neighborhood, but I guess that's just one of the problems with driving... I live a good 40 mins away, so I never really hang around too much. Anyway, this will totally be a thing for me now. "Oh, I have an appointment with Linda, ooh, yes, I get to stop at the bakery!!!"
Thank you Bakery House. You are magic.
