Google
Fantastic bakery with a lovely set of options. Of course everything is best in the morning out of the oven as is with all bakeries. And they sell out of their best things quickly! My favorite is the banana chocolate muffin and the chocolate chip cookie!

Alex Issokson

Google
Got a chocolate chip cookie from here which was very good! I arrived about 30 minutes before closing, so I was glad they still had items left. Quality ingredients! FYI there is a $5 minimum charge for using a credit card and I found the place to be a bit warm, so I didn’t stick around and eat my cookie there. I’d def go back!

Google
This is a legit 5/5. Had the 1) bacon and egg on croissant, 2) BLT (cooked to perfection), and 3) salmon avocado toast. All three were so delicious. Also got the double chocolate banana muffin - this is really a perfect dessert. It had the perfect amount of sweetness level to it. The staff were extremely nice and attentive. Everyone should try this place.

Google
Yummmmm! I was overwhelmed by the selection of baked goods because they all looked amazing. I went with the sticky bun, can’t go wrong with a classic 😉, and it did not disappoint. The pop tart is another popular treat but I did not try it. My boyfriend had the bacon egg and cheese with avocado, strawberry jelly, and siracha. He enjoyed it thoroughly. Highly recommend!

Google
We came upon The Bake Shop and couldn't have been more delighted! The baked goods are incredibly fresh and flavorful! The raspberry shortbread cookies are reminiscent of my grandmother's cookies. The walnut oatmeal bars are amazingly fresh and full of buttery goodness. The pecan scones are very large and not dry at all as some scones tend to be. The staff was remarkably friendly and hard working! We can't wait to go back tomorrow! Simply phenomenal! Thank-you!

Google
Delicious gluten free double chocolate banana muffin. It was a bit crumbly so definitely could not eat it while walking.

Google
Some of the best pastries in town. Love me some bakeshop. Gluten free options are amazing but I truly love that Nutella chocolate chip muffin paired with a bean2bean iced latte!? Start to a great day

Google
I visited this place and ordered two items: a triple chocolate cookie and a salmon avocado toast. The triple chocolate cookie tastes good, but it has a texture more like a chocolate cupcake, crumbly like cake, in the shape of a cookie ($4.95). The salmon avocado toast is a tasty, ordinary toast, but it only came with one regular-sized slice (was expecting two given the price of $14.95 or $13.95). The expected portion size, in my opinion, did not align with the price. Gets busy in the morning.

Yelp
I'll say it: living in close proximity to The Bakeshop and trying to live a healthy lifestyle is hell. What's a girl to do when one of Yelp's top chocolate chip cookies in the COUNTRY is steps away, calling my name after any minor inconvenience I encounter? I am a mere cookie-loving mortal! Everything is so good here you're not gonna go wrong. There's probably going to be a line whenever you go (and there is a 100% chance of a line on weekend mornings) but don't let that deter you! It moves very quickly and you can even order online for pickup if you're looking for added ease. I tried their BEC for the first time, ordering it ahead and enjoying it on a park bench in the square, a course of action I highly recommend. The staff here is as sweet as the baked goods and truly nothing I've tried has missed. The classic chocolate chip is the star of the show but my underrated favorite is the gorgeous lemon ricotta cookie. Next on the must try list? Breakfast items like sticky buns and their lunchtime sandwiches. Thank you for existing, Bakeshop on 20th!

Yelp
What a super bakery! There is a wide variety of goods that all look like they have baked with great love and care. Staff and owner were very friendly! Thus far, I've tried the brookie and scone - both excellent. Definitely a Philadelphia gem!

Yelp
Bought Arnold Palmer (1/2 tea & 1/2 lemonade), it was awful. Slight smell of coffee, tasted as if pot had been used for coffee and never cleaned out properly. Also bought ham & cheese croissant, had good quality cheese, but very very small amount of ham.

Yelp
Had to get a breakfast sandwich to accompany my morning coffee in philly. We stopped in this spot knowing they'd have GF bread for my GF friend! The bakeshop was finishing up a catering order and was upfront that it may take a while for them to make our sandwiches. We probably waited around 30 minutes, but luckily there's nice outdoor seating on the sidewalk where we could wait. The sandwiches came out steaming hot! I got a bacon egg and cheese on a muffin. Solid breakfast sandwich and very filling!

Yelp
I love this place. The display case is always tantalizing, with an array of cakes, scones, cookies, and various other sweet delights that will get your morning off to the perfect start. There are also savory hot items, though these can take a bit longer to be prepared. FYI, a Philly muffin is basically an English muffin. Seating is very limited but take your coffee and pastry and go for a walk in the park! You deserve it.

Yelp
Forgot to take a pic of the cookie but top notch. Being directed to try a hibiscus and lemonade palmer was also just perfect.

Yelp
Each visit to this delightful bakery infuses the air with the sweet scent of morning pastries, mingling elegantly with robust coffee aromas that promise a splendid start to the day. Even when bustling with city dwellers, the staff remains graciously attentive, ensuring every patron feels welcomed. Though my time was brief, each bite of the freshly prepared delicacies whispered tales of culinary dedication and passion. A true gem nestled in the heart of the city, this bakery calls for repeated visits to fully experience its varied menu.

Yelp
Visited this bakeshop very quickly on a run through the city and I've gotta say this review is solely on counter top bake goods because unfortunately I didn't have time to sit down and order something fresh. I was close by however and after hearing so many reviews thought it'd be worth it to give it a go. I ordered a spinach and feta filo pastry as well as a coffee scone. I was very unimpressed by both. Hoping I can go back in the future and order something else maybe from their menu but for both the things that I ordered, I couldn't even finish them sadly. The place however is just as adorable as it's name, and all staff seemed absolutely lovely - which is why I still want to return. Maybe I just went on an off day.

Yelp
Fantastic little bakery with delicious treats, great coffee, and wonderful service! This little bakery doesn't have great indoor seating but the ambiance is great and down the street from Ritten Square.

Yelp
My partner and I stopped by the bake shop on 20th while we were on a walk and were very pleased we did! We got the tahini chocolate cookie and it was one of the best cookies I've had in the city. It was very soft and had the perfect ratio of delicious and melt in your mouth chocolate. The person who checked us out was very kind and offered sincere recommendations to the pastries. The cookies are a little on the pricey side ($4.50 for 1 cookie) so definitely more of a treat than getting them regularly! Worth trying though!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute bakery not far from Rittenhouse Square. They have plenty of options and seems to change their flavors frequently. I was interested in trying the leek pita pie but they only had spinach and cheese one instead. It turned out tasting like a spanakopita. They have many pastry options. This is great for a quick bite or just a quick takeout spot for breakfast! They have a couple of chairs outdoors for seating but inside is small and for ordering only.

Yelp
This bakery came highly recommended to me by local residents. I can say that after doing a mini food crawl around Philly, it was absolutely outstanding and worth a visit / one of the best spots I went to. The Bakeshop on 20th had *the* most amazing apple cake ever!!! (And I don't even like apples!) It tastes amazing with their hot latte. If you're here, please get the apple cake for me and enjoy the most perfect bite. Cheers!

Yelp
In the heart of urban hustle, a quaint establishment unfurls its culinary repertoire, each delicacy a testament to culinary artistry. Its ambiance, where the scent of pastries dances with robust coffee notes, turns a mere morning into a herald of delight. Service remains impeccably sharp amidst the whirl of patrons, a sanctuary for those seeking solace in taste and aroma. Here, the daily offerings go beyond mere sustenance; they are a celebration of the baker's craft, beckoning for more than a single visit.

Yelp
This place is simply the best. Every time I'm here, I fall in love with a new scone. The staff members are friendly and even remembered me after I hadn't been around for a long time.
google avatar

Yelp
Every time I come here I'm never disappointed. The blueberry, carrot, and Nutella muffins are delicious. The menu is great for a small bakery. There are a few seats here but I wouldn't recommend sitting in due to space. The servers were attentive and quick. Whenever I want something sweet I come here for desserts.

Yelp
Good yuppie baked goods. Good yuppie coffee. I'm a yuppie. Sign me up!

Yelp
The Bakeshop on 20th in Rittenhouse, Philadelphia is a quick, on-the-go, breakfast dream come true! The highlight of this delicious creation was the perfectly toasted bread. Each bite provided a delightful crunch that enhanced the flavors of the crispy bacon, fluffy eggs, and melted cheese. It was a harmonious combination that left me craving more. To complete my breakfast experience, I paired the bacon egg and cheese sandwich with a cup of their fantastic coffee. The rich and robust flavor was the ideal companion, and it truly elevated the entire meal. Not only was the food outstanding, but the Bakeshop on 20th also boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff members were friendly and attentive, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. If you're in the Rittenhouse area and in need of a fast breakfast to pick up, look no further than the Bakeshop on 20th.

Yelp
Cute local bakery with fresh baked goodies that's always a good treat Their signature babka runs out quickly, so get there early. If you are lucky, you may get a fresh batch of cookies or scones that are fresh outta the oven that's still warm soft and heavenly~ Flavors are usually seasonal and never disappoint. Owners are super friendly and patient (coz how can you decide when facing all the amazing options!) They also make good sandwiches and soup, also goes out quickly!

Yelp
The Bakeshop is my favorite bakery in central Philly. They're packed with delicious French-style pastries that are so warm, fresh, and flakey. I had such a hard time deciding what to get, but went with their sticky bun after the gal at the front recommended it. It was SO GOOD. Sticky and flavorful, glazed to perfection. My eyes were wide and my mouth was drooling, since they had a whole variety/selection of goods from cookies to sandwiches to breads. My friend and I wanted a little bite since we didn't grab any breakfast before a full day in the city. They also have napkins and a two-seater quaint table, but most people here grab n go. No lines early in the morning, and we were in and out quick.
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
Probably a place you want to hit up earlier in the day because when it comes to a later lunch they may have run out of pastries and you may need to wait for another pot of coffee to be made. In this post inflation era a lox sandwich will run north of $13 albeit quite tasty with a drink it'll land you close to $20z
google avatar

Melissa A.

Yelp
Great bakery very close to Rittenhouse Square. So many sweet treat options. My favorites would be the sticky buns and the famous scones (new flavors every couple days). Can also get breakfast sandwiches and coffee for a good weekend breakfast :) The only downside is the weekend rush gets a little busy. Just prepare to wait 10+ minutes on a late weekend morning as this is a popular spot!

Yelp
Love, love, love it! Yuuuuuum! Everything is sooo good. All i can say is you have to try it. I had the fresh squeezed oj and sticky buns And a fresh turkey sandwich.. Great taste and service!

Yelp
solid pastries and cookies good, quick service cute storefront with a few seats outside to enjoy your pastry and coffee.

Yelp
This place has the best croissants in all of Philadelphia. My friend and I go for croissants every Sunday in different establishments across Philadelphia, and have unanimously decided that the bake shop on 20th is the best. Their croissants are light buttery and ultra flaky just as you would hope. I also enjoy going to the bake shop on 20th for any occasion. I recently ordered several pastries for Mother's Day. I got a apple cinnamon Babka, a plain croissant, an almond croissant, a chocolate croissant, an apricot scone, and a fig scone. All of the above were delicious. I also have had the chocolate Babka which is hands-down, the best pastry type thing in the city. The establishment is on the smaller side so there's usually a wait, but it is never too long and it is absolutely worth the wait. I would wait 20 to 30 minutes for pastries from here. The staff are always super kind and that's the icing on the cake. I would easily Consider myself a regular and will continue to come here for all of my pastry needs. You should too!
google avatar

Yelp
I bought a slice of the blueberry and lemon cake. I thought it was very delicious, not too sweet, and the sweetness of the blueberries was balanced out by the tartness of the lemon base. The crunch of the toasted almonds and flakiness of the crust was a nice touch as well. It was a nice treat after a long day of work. Price is a bit higher cause eggs/baked goods are more expensive now
google avatar

Xinxin L.

Yelp
Friendly staff. Salmon avocado toast was very tasty. Very limited space to sit. Most people seem to take orders to-go. Will be back to try other items when I have a chance!

Lizandra B.

Yelp
I haven't actually been inside the Bakeshop but have ordered through DoorDash 3x. Once yesterday and no joke, twice in one day (don't judge me)! Each time I have been so impressed. I've only gotten the muffins and coffee but oh my ggggg, they're so delicious. They're big, fluffy, soft and not dense or dry. This is my new go-to for muffins. I've had the Blueberry Swirl, Coffee Cake and Carrot Cake ones. And I swear, they arrived to me still warm. Will have to try them all plus their other baked goods. Also got my pups their dog treats and they devoured them too. This afternoon I had ordered another Blueberry but they called to tell me they were out and opted for the carrot cake flavor. No regrets.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
Fast service, friendly staff, and the pastries were delicious! The line moved quickly.

Christie A.

Yelp
Delicious sweet pastries. Friendly staff. Dog treats available free of charge unlike other local shops. Wouldn't recommend them for coffee since they take FOREVER. But the best pastry shop in Rittenhouse IMO

Yelp
Walking around the area on weekends, it has always stood out to me how crazy busy The Bakeshop is! While on a mission to try something new for a weekday breakfast and coffee stop, I decided to place an order from Bakeshop and did so directly from their Yelp page. To drink, I ordered an Iced Dirty Chai. To eat, I got the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on multigrain. While checking out the pictures of their sandwiches, I was so excited by the sight of the bread that the BEC has been served on. Sadly, I don't believe that is an option anymore (or at least this week). I went for the Multigrain Toast option instead. I showed up at the time I was quoted via the ordering platform, and waited a minute or two outside as the inside of the shop was very full and it is very small. Once someone had exited, I took my turn and walked in to find my order ready and waiting for me on a side table. My name was clearly marked on the bag and on the drink. I grabbed my items and walked back home to eat. Once I was home, the bread from the BEC was no longer toasted and more on the soggy side, but that's most likely my bad for waiting to eat. Just an FYI if you're doing takeout, this may happen. There was a generous portion of bacon, my eggs were cooked as ordered, and the cheese was the perfect amount of gooey, melted deliciousness to make up for the soggy bread. My dirty chai was delicious! I will definitely return and think I'll stick to ordering via the Yelp page to avoid those crazy long lines on weekends!

Yelp
Super cute shop with sooo many pastries!! The chocolate chip cookies are huge and delicious, and I'm in love with their rice crispy treats!
google avatar

Chloe C.

Yelp
The most unbelievable pastries I've ever had. Also make a mean breakfast burrito. I highly recommend this bake shop for any of your sweet tooth needs!
google avatar

Jonathan P.

Yelp
The scones here are the best in the city. The cold brew coffee may be the best too... tastes just like chocolate. One last thing - the chocolate chip-nutella muffins. You're Welcome.
google avatar

Ryan S.

Yelp
Both the food and service are amazing to say the least. I love their croissants and they have my favorite muffin of all time (carrot cake). It's an awesome shop and perfect spot for grabbing coffee or a small bite.
google avatar

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Cute little bake shop in downtown, the coffee was delicious I had the cappuccino with a croissant.
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
THE BEST pop tarts ever!!! The chocolate babka is also amazing. Try to come early to get a good selection!

Olivia L.

Yelp
Coffee was great, and I usually have a hard time finding coffee I enjoy while ordering out. I had a babka, which was delicious but it was in a red wrapper that seemed to have leaked color onto the babka, which is a bit concerning. I would recommend changing how those get packaged up.
google avatar

Jim P.

Yelp
Well, bonus on the Yelp check-in. $1 for a nice size Chocolate chip cookie, fresh out of the oven, preserved in a nice box, that I took back to my hotel room. That thing was pretty amazing! I also ordered a croissant, egg and bacon sandwich. That was actually really great too, and I took it to Rittenhouse square to enjoy it in the park. I didn't really want to rag on these guys/gals, because they are very pleasant, but they did somehow drop the ball on the prep time of my sandwich. I think mobile orders or something else superseded my stuff, but it took about 15 mins to pop out, while I sat there and others streamed in and out. Also, the girl at the registered asked me my name like 10 different times. That's frustrating, but we all had masks on. In general, I'd give them another chance because they have quality food, but if you have a need for speed just relax.

Patty H.

Yelp
We loved this place! Everything looked so delicious, it was hard to choose. We got the croissant, birthday blondie, strawberry "pop tart," cherry turnover, and cinnamon roll. They have such a variety...every pastry and dessert...and then some. Everything was fresh as if they had just made it all that morning. And they had kid friendly desserts...cookies, muffins, pop tarts. The coffee was strong and flavorful. Also, it was nice that they took cash and not just card! Service was quick and the staff was very friendly, didn't try to rush us. The place is small and limited seating but they have tables outside. We will definitely return!
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
I believe the reason I can only give this place for three stars for now is because we probably come here too late so we couldn't try their most popular bakery items (Sticky buns & Babka muffin). We ordered "Apricot scone" & "Walnut oat bar" with a cup of cold brewed coffee for our first time visit. [Apricot scone]: I'm not a big fan of apricot, but this was the option left with the fruit topping. Their scone was unexpectedly soft & was not too sweet, which made me want to come back to try their other scones. [Walnut oat bar]: It had a thin layer of jam in the middle part of the bar (probably strawberry jam) and it was pretty sweet. The oat layers were also sweeten and covered with powder sugar, which made the entire bar too sweet. It was too heavy & dense to me to eat the entire piece or without coffee/unsweetened drinks. My advice is that you should visit this place early if you want to get their signature/popular bakery items. And we're planning to come back one more time to get the full experience!
google avatar

Clare D.

Yelp
I've been trying to buy something here for the longest time, but what I wanted was usually sold out during the busy times I visited. Buy a scone here. You will be so glad you did. The apricot and almond one I'm eating right now is heavenly, like a big buttermilk biscuit. You might never like scones from other places again.
google avatar

Semi O.

Yelp
If you're looking for a cure to your sugar craving this is the place to go! This cute little cafe right on 20th street (hence the name) is in a convenient location and less than a 5 minute walk to Rittenhouse Square. I got the brown sugar poundcake, blueberry almond flour torte, chocolate chip scone, blueberry turnover, and brookie (brownie cookie). My favorites were the brown sugar pound cake, blueberry almond flour, and chocolate chip scone! I highly recommend the brown sugar pound cake. It is a popular item here and I was lucky enough to grab the last few slices! The scone was also good. They had a variety of different flavors I would definitely come back to try another time. For anyone who's wants something sweet but not too sugary, the blueberry almond flour torte is a good choice. It's also gluten free which is a plus . I thought the blueberry turnover was unique due to its sweet, yet savory taste. Overall, I really enjoyed this place and I highly recommend checking it out if you're in the Rittenhouse area!
google avatar

Mimi K.

Yelp
Bakeshop on 20th is one of my favorite places in the Rittenhouse area. You just can't go wrong with any order. The scones here are my favorite (and the flavors rotate so there's always something new to try). Of course, you have to try the babka while you're there too! The people who work there are super friendly and always willing to answer questions. Always a 10/10 experience.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
My fiancé & I checked out this place for the first time yesterday and we both really enjoyed it. Its a cute, no frills place. It's small but there are a couple chairs and tables to sit at if you're looking for that. I got the strawberry poptart and a hot vanilla latte and my fiancé had the birthday cake bar and ricotta cookie. Everything was delicious! The strawberry poptart was SO good - the crust itself was so buttery and flaky. The service was good - the employee who was working at the cash register was such a nice guy and he was really helpful with answering questions. Total there was 3 people working when we went in and although it was busy service was still really fast. Overall highly recommend!
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
I don't live in Philly and I'm so sad because this please was not only old school cute, the baked goods were YUMMY! There were 3-4 people behind the counter and they were all working together to make it happen. Would 100% visit again if I get the chance! Also! Huge win, they have gluten free options which is hard to come by, let alone the gluten free products be good- and they were great! Thank you for the great service, the yummy treats and the super cute old school vibe! PS- I went in December but hadn't gotten around to writing this. Better later than never! :)
google avatar

Efraim S.

Yelp
I have always found their items to be rather mediocre. I have never had the sandwiches but I do not think the baked goods are so great

Lex K.

Yelp
Every day I dream about the Italian ricotta cookies, unfortunately I moved far away but if I could ship them across oceans I totally would :)
google avatar

Stephanie R.

Yelp
I love coming in here for a snack before heading to the park. The scones are full of flavor and a great consistency. They have new flavors every day and tons of sweet treats to choose from (and sandwiches too).
google avatar

Adrian C.

Yelp
If you're looking for the ultimate in comfort food desserts, you've found the place! Super nice, the smell of butter, sugar, and spice is intoxicating!
