This time, I’m taking you to a Japanese-style bar called Kakure, tucked away on the second floor of a detached house along Scotts Road. And when I say tucked away, I mean it. It’s truly hidden. The ground floor looks like a Japanese restaurant, and upstairs you actually need a code to enter. No code, no cocktail.
As expected from a Japanese-style bar, it’s dimly lit, intimate, and very quiet. The bartenders are sharply dressed in vests, and the whole vibe feels refined and intentional. This is the kind of place where you sip and savor, not shout over loud music.
The menu is extensive, with classics, signatures, premium spirits, and fresh fruit cocktails, which are very popular in Japan. We tried two drinks and found them quite light and easy to enjoy. Price-wise, it’s not cheap, but you’re definitely paying for the ambiance and, let’s be honest, the rent on Scotts Road.
Overall, it’s a solid spot. Moody lighting, calm energy, and great for a date or a quiet catch-up.
