The Bar KAKURE

This time, I’m taking you to a Japanese-style bar called Kakure, tucked away on the second floor of a detached house along Scotts Road. And when I say tucked away, I mean it. It’s truly hidden. The ground floor looks like a Japanese restaurant, and upstairs you actually need a code to enter. No code, no cocktail. As expected from a Japanese-style bar, it’s dimly lit, intimate, and very quiet. The bartenders are sharply dressed in vests, and the whole vibe feels refined and intentional. This is the kind of place where you sip and savor, not shout over loud music. The menu is extensive, with classics, signatures, premium spirits, and fresh fruit cocktails, which are very popular in Japan. We tried two drinks and found them quite light and easy to enjoy. Price-wise, it’s not cheap, but you’re definitely paying for the ambiance and, let’s be honest, the rent on Scotts Road. Overall, it’s a solid spot. Moody lighting, calm energy, and great for a date or a quiet catch-up.

Came here with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday after seeing all the great reviews. The view and vibe? Absolutely 10/10. Super classy and lovely view - a great place if you’re after atmosphere. Food-wise, it’s not really a dinner spot—more light bites like cheese platters, which we were fine with. I had pre-arranged a birthday dessert through them (either a melon tart or Basque cheesecake, from Amis Patisserie I think). I went with the melon tart and paid $88 in advance to lock it in. It tasted great—but they didn’t give us any pastry cutlery so we had to awkwardly eat it with bar mini cheese forks. For a place charging $30–40+ per cocktail, you kind of expect the basics to be covered. Also, don’t expect overly friendly bartenders. They’re more on the cool, professional side—reminds me of the vibe at D.Bespoke. Not rude or anything, just not the warm, chatty type. All in, still a nice experience. Just know what you’re walking into, and you’ll enjoy it.

Went with a friend at late night. Ordered two drinks each. None of the 4 was disappointing. Was a pleasant surprise to have found this place on a late weekday night. Quiet and chill, friendly staff, and customize your drinks.

A beautifully refined bar with an exceptionally polished Japanese bartender. The cocktails are superb, and the bartender’s whiskey expertise is truly professional. The atmosphere and service were nothing short of outstanding.

Interesting small speakeasy on the top floor of a Japanese restaurant - hidden behind an unassuming door that requires a code to be open. There are about 12 seats at the bar and a couple of small tables. It’s a one-man show - one skilled bartender looking after everyone. The drink list includes classics, unique cocktails and rare spirits. We tried one polar bear ($28) and Moscow Mule ($28) both excellent and well balanced. The chocolate soufflé cake ($28) was very disappointing (hence why 4 stars) - it did not seem like a soufflé and was just ok in terms of taste. It was rich, so definitely enough for two people as stated on the menu, but not very good and too expensive. I’d come back for drinks and perhaps to try the savoury food options, but I recommend skipping desserts.

Lunch here was a stunner! The ingredients were fresh and generous, I had such a great time. The star dish for me was the aburi otoro. Gentled charred under the perfected heated charcoal, topped with snow sea salt. I'll definitely be back for more.

Amazing cocktail bar in Singapore — beautifully presented cocktails. Cosy atmosphere. I would definitely return. You need to book in advance.

An absolute hidden gem. Amazing ambience with great signature and classic cocktails. It has become one of our favourite Japanese bar in Singapore.
