The Barking Pig

Update as of September 2023. This used to be the Barking Pig. The ownership and staff is the same and they've updated the decor and menu. I had the smash burger which was delicious. The fries were nice and crispy as well. We also had the NY strip steak and it was cooked to temperature with great sides. We also had a few spicy margaritas this time and they were great, not too sweet. Good food and great drinks! They make a good old fashioned here and a great paloma. The steak night was great as well.

My favorite neighborhood bar and grill! We actually had our rehearsal dinner here eating there amazing crawfish! The owner went out of her way to make our experience a great one. On a regular day the burgers, chicken tenders, and chicken tenders are all great. They've got good beers on tap and in bottle and the mixed drinks we've had have always been good. There's always specials going on, can't believe you can get a good meal and a drink for these prices in 2024.

Service was friendly and helpful. The outdoor area seemed bigger than the indoor. Visited at night but would definitely be nice for an outdoor visit during a sunny or partially-cloudy day, as long as it's not too cold or hot. Actually, outdoor at night was good as well because of the temperate temperature. The pieces of pizza, wings, and burger I had were not bad. I would say typical for a bar.

Nothing negative to say! Service was fast and staff was friendly. Mimosa towers and beer towers make a trip down here worth it. Specials are almost daily! Patio is large and have fans with mist! Highly recommend

I was really impressed with the menu and choices, but the food was overly salted and looked better on the plate. Service was good. It is order at bar, and they bring it to your table. Bar is rockin' with cocktail choices, but just a plain drink was hard to glcome by, they were out of 7 up and Sprite, and some kind of gin I asked for. The owner came over to check on us, very nice. Just not sure due to the salt I will be returning. The burger was fat and good, the fries were not.

My wife decided to eat here for during our Houston trip because they allowed doggos. We had to order at the bar due to the ordering system being wonky that day. We ordered drinks, and food at the bar and close out our tab after we were done. We were there for easily a few hours (only a table or two was present). Thunderstorm. They have great covered sitting to keep the rain out. The first thing they did was bring our dog a bowl of water and a nice sized dog treat. Yay! The cheese pizza was great! It was thin hot and cheesy. Just what we were expecting. The serving sizes were also great as well as the prices. The special for the day was chicken fried chicken on mashed potatoes. The burger came exactly as we asked, medium rare and we ordered waffle fries with them (came late, burger was 3/4 finished). Outstanding food, drinks, and service! Kristen the owner truly cares about her business and is very committed to patrons enjoying Ribeye and Rye. Steak is my favorite and outstanding - there’s a lot of other delicious options I’ve tried as well! Also kid friendly and dog friendly - a favorite of my daughter and myself. On top of it all she supports the community and has donated both her time and tons of food to local fire departments.

Great spot for a drink and food. The pizza here is quite good. Had the truffle oil pizza with a group I was with and it was top notch. The bartender there was nice and helpful. The parking here is a little rough, but works well nonetheless (can't complain about free parking). Anyhow, would recommend!

Super cute dive bar. daily specials. Bartenders are very friendly. We came here for steak night which $21. Loved the mashed potatoes and steak of course. They have daily specials so check it out. Parking lot and street parking.

Stopped in for their Sunday special right now for .75 wings. I love myself some spice so I got the mango habanero. It wasn't overly spicy. Nice around of sauce and great size. The counter service was simple. Clear menus of choices available with plenty of specials. The yuengling draft was iced cold which made me happy like back on the East coast. I feel it's a good sign when folks are willing to hang out at the actual bar. I feel this place has good prices and great spot to come in for a couple with a group. The covered patio was great for the Astros game during the rain.

Ambiance: Local bar with a nice patio area that is dog friendly & kid friendly. Part of the patio area is covered and part is not, allowing for ample vibe/weather options. There is a mini playscape on one side that's great for entertaining kids/families. Indoor bar area includes high top tables and bar seating. Cozier/darker ambiance inside perfect for pre-date drinks. Parking onsite/street. Clean bathrooms. They do trivia nights and various events. Amazing happy hour deals and the food menu is expansive/affordable for The Heights area IMO. I would go back if in the area!

Bro....This Burger literally changed my life, it was so buttery and delicious, and the caramelized onions added an amazing flavor. I will be thinking about this burger for years to come. 9.5/10

The drinks here are great and the bartender Matt is warm and friendly! Would definitely recommend this spot as a chill place to catch up with friends

Fun environment. Not much space inside but the patio is nice. Steak was amazing. Bartender was cool.

Great place! Especially on steak night. Had a ribeye medium well and it was perfect. Great drinks and great atmosphere. I have tried many steak nights in the heights and this one is by far the best!! Don't miss out on this great place before it gets too pay

Place is clean and neat, bartenders were knowledgeable and did a good Old Fashioned, i got the pulled pork pizza and it was great, the balance between the spice and the sweetness of the bbq sauce was on point.

Friendly is not their forte. I've worked in hospitality over 20 years. A smile and a friendly greet can work wonders. Hope they learn that hospitality means making someone feel at home.
