Came here for a Friday night when karaoke was happening. So many talented people singing a wide range of music. The bar itself was super fun with really good drink specials and options. The staff were also so nice and helpful and fun to talk to. Will definitely return.

This is definitely a cute bar. Kinda gives off cool hipster vibes. They serve coffee, food, and alcoholic drinks. I like their variety of unique cocktails. I had an espresso martini and it was suuuper delicious. The place is always busy with a variety of customers which makes for a really good time. Definitely recommend.

Google
The food and drinks are very good. The pretzel bits, sandwich, and espresso: amazing. The atmosphere is VERY chill. Plan for extra time as the staff takes theirs.

Google
Nice little bar in downtown Eugene with a good selection of drinks and a small bar style menu. I had the burger and it was solid. This is a good place to go to "pre game" if you are headed to the Mcdonald theater to see a show. Service is quick and there is an outdoor seating area for when the weather is good. Overall I would say this is a good place and I would visit again.

Google
The bar is nice, but the bartender is always rude. I once asked him if he could give me the code for the bathroom, but since it was already closed, he wouldn't give it to me. He's rude, unfortunately.

Second time I’ve been ignored by a certain female bartender and had to walk out. She did not even acknowledge my existence while hanging out in the cooler and serving other patrons.

Google
Great coffee here and cute setup-very hipster-y. Good selection of other drinks as well. Venue has plenty of space and a friendly feel.

Google
Wonderful karaoke community and a fun place to hang out! Loved meeting my friends downtown here after long days. If you're lucky you'll get to Sky's legendary singing!!!

Yelp
No food? I use to love this place, so this is hard to give a low review...but we went there around 8:00pm on a Thursday for food and drinks and the bartender said you guys don't do food anymore? We were told we could go get pizza, so we just ended up going somewhere else for drinks, sadly. I hope this changes soon? I use to love your food! And I feel more comfortable if food is available while drinking.

Yelp
Yesterday afternoon, i had the tastiest lavender infused cocktail, the Butterfly Kiss. It was so good I returned this afternoon after having raved to friends and having posted reviews to social media. Boy, what a disappointment. First, the drink looked a lot paler with just a hint of the beautiful lavender color and non of that layer of cloudy lemon juice at the base. The bigger disappointment was the lack of any flavor. There was none of the tartness, no lavender. After a couple of sips, I explained, or rather, I tried to explain to the disheveled bartender my previous experience with the cocktail. He was dismissive but offered another drink. I decided to keep it simple and asked for a vodka tonic. Can't mess that up, right?. Wrong. What I was served was a vodka soda. I really did like this bar, and its drinks. Now, after voicing my disappointment, I am banned. Lavender infused vodka cocktails are not exclusive to this bar, so no big deal, really. Cheers, disheveled a**hole bartender dude-guy-person. "Let's be honest about what happened.' Busi ess Manager reply. Yes, let's be honest. It is true. I was offered another cocktail as I was leaving. And, yes, I did give a flippant response, which was deserved for the dismissive behavior of the bartender leading up to my departure. Let's not forget that I did offer to pay for the drinks and that I did speak with the young lady who showed up shortly before I left. I did compliment her for the drink she'd served the previous afternoon, the very drink that inspired a trip back. As I stated previously, I expressed to friends and associates how I was impressed by the cocktail. The second drink i ordered was a vodka tonic. I was served a vodka soda instead. Let's not forget that, either. Both drinks, I handed back after the initial sips. I do regret that I did not take shots of the Butterfly Kiss I was served to post here for comparison. BTW, I did not just randomly wander into this bar for the first time yesterday. Am I sorry that I've been banned? Lol. I am not. Cute bar, but it's nothing special. Lastly, whatever happened to "the customer is always right"? Photo is of the original drink. Wish I'd taken one of today's for comparison.

Yelp
The bartenders were foul. They made terrible remarks about customers. I felt sad for the transgender person they were talking about. I saw them sneaking drinks. This made for a very uncomfortable night, we wanted to stay for Karaoke, the only positive thing there on a Monday, but Taylor made us very uncomfortable. If those two bartenders are there, leave!
google avatar

Maximilian B.

Yelp
Absolutely worst bartender I've ever came across, saturday night 11/11. She was on her phone for five minutes, then finally acknowledges me and harshly "asks what do you want?" I ask for a pbr, then when I go to pay her I say "keep the dollar, thanks for getting up and pouring me a drink." She goes excuse me? What did you say? I say what you, want another dollar? As I'm about to give her another one, thinking maybe she's had a bad day, she tells me I can leave. I left and will never be back there again.
google avatar

Lexis S.

Yelp
This spot is a cool vibe with a chill staff a mini arcade in the back! There's an open mic every Monday night for live comedy and some pretty hilarious locals slide through. If you're having "A Case of the Mondays" it's the perfect place to reset for the rest of the week with some laughs.

Yelp
My husband and I came into Eugene to see a concert... we happened into the barn light and found two seats at the counter/bar and sat down. The bartender a short girl with dark brown hair was clearly training A girl who had clearly never bartended a day in her life. We ordered a aperol spritz and a old-fashioned. The main girl was trying to train as the new girl bumbled around and had no idea what she was doing. The new girl poured my glass of champagne without any aperol included, and went to hand it to me ...I said no problem that I would just take that and the girl training behind the counter persisted that she needed to learn. "I need her to learn!!!" she said v aggressively. So I let her continue to make me my aperol spritz even though she did not know how. It took close to 30 minutes for us to get us our drinks from the minute we ordered them. I kept giving the new girl positive feedback that she was doing a great job. And as the bar was stacking up with patrons I offered to teach her how to crack an orange peel from my husband's old fashion. The girl training looked at me in my face and told me essentially to fuck off and to let her do the training. I was so taken back by her response that I assured her I was trying to be helpful and she double down by asking me how long I had bartending in my life and when I told her I did in college she then told me to fuck off because she had been bartending for 10 years. Me and my husband could not believe the way this woman was talking to us, I have never in my life had someone in a service position treat me so bad and with disregard. I have a business a few in the service industry, I would absolutely never let someone work for me if they spoke to customers this way, not to mention represent in my business in this way. Also ...what bar hires somebody to work behind the bar that has absolutely no bar experience or go to bartending school? I guess I'm just old school if I owned a bar I would send them home with a bar book and tell them not to come back until they knew how to make the basics. I would absolutely never step foot in this bar ever again and looking from the reviews neither should you.

Yelp
Drove down to try it out. Place wasn't open when hours state it should be. Guy was in there but didn't acknowledge us at the door. So we went and grabbed a pizza nextdoor instead

Dave B.

Yelp
Got charged full price for happy hour mules. They don't show an itemized receipt when you pay so I didn't see the error until I got it texted to me after paying. Feels kinda shady that they only show the total price to you

Tom H.

Yelp
My favorite cozy bar in town. Staff and regulars are great people and lots of fun to spend time with. Don't come for the food, but they always invite you to bring food from other local spots. Most nights, it's relatively quiet and great for conversation. That said, if you come on Thursday or Friday, be prepared for trivia and karaoke (Tionna and Brett are the best in town)!
google avatar

Kayla P.

Yelp
I have only been here for breakfast so I can't speak to the bar environment. It's a great quiet little spot in the morning with indoor and outdoor seating. I was sent to this place for their All American open faced toast breakfast item. It was toast, gravy, bacon, egg and more! It was phenomenal!! The gravy was next level!! I will be back for sure
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
I'll greatly miss this place especially the ULTIMATE gin and tonic! For me, this was a great starting out point or end point to a night in downtown. They always had fun, attentive, and happy bar staff who made great conversations. I'll also miss the shuffle board, too! Thanks BL for some great times and great memories. You'll be missed.

Yelp
This is one of my top five favorite bars to hang out at. It was my belief that this place closed down for a little bit in 2020 but I think it got reopened under new ownership with the same look and charm which is still evident in it and nothing is missed! It's pretty chill and it's right off of Broadway so it doesn't get too busy but you're still close to all the other bars and clubs in downtown Eugene. I especially like this place because they always have great cocktails on the menu and if you just want a regular drink they're always really good with their pours.
google avatar

Yelp
Love TBL, Been going here for years for breakfast/lunch and drinks. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The drink menu changes with some regularity and there is something for folks from all walks of life. Good place to hold a meetup, do some remote work, have some coffee, or have a beer with some friends.

Yelp
It's a cute little place right next to Sizzle Pie. The bathrooms are shared by 3 (?) of the businesses there, so you need a key or code and a walk to the hallway in back... it's inside, tho. I've been here a couple times and what doesn't work for me are the cocktails. The glasses are very small and bartenders are made to measure out the "shot". I may be just old school about it, but the second I see a bartender unable to count a pour, I lose my faith in their bartending abilities. My mom and I popped in recently and it just happened to be happy hour. She got the $5 margarita. I told the bartender how to make my drink and I'm not sure what happened, but by the time I hit the bathroom in back and bellied back up to the bar, my mom was nearly finished w her drink and mine was so wrong, I asked if I could return it. They did allow that. We moved on to our fav restaurant and had an amazing cocktail and dinner. I can't speak for the food, so I'll keep my star rating neutral. I say try the Barn Light for its' location and decor... maybe stick to a beer, cider or wine if you're wanting a drink.

Yelp
My favorite place downtown. 5-star food, beverages, service, décor, menu, sidewalk seating, and atmosphere. Best Pimm's cup I've had in ages. Their all-day breakfast sandwich is a real winner - real egg, real cheese, real bun, and real service.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a nice escape from the rain. The lighting was nice and moody and the staff were friendly and helpful. They even serve a $3 beer that hit the spot! Seating left a little to be desired and I would have liked to see some couches. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

Sunny D.

Yelp
First walking in, your impression of a hip and creatively fun vibe fills you with hope for a good time. Groups of friends seated at tables and the bar, concentrating on their trivia games. But after waiting a while at the bar to be asked which drinks we wanted, we got a distinct impression that this is a very clicky place and if you weren't part of their crowd they definitely made you feel it. You realize that the bar has regulars that the bartenders seem to favor. One of the (newer) bartenders seemed to be completely put off by our very presence. Every interaction was met with a curt or rude demeanor. Our group ended up ordering plenty of drinks but the attitude never changed. You should believe the other reviews that talk about the bartenders because our experience definitely confirmed it. Too bad, another Eugene bar off our list, which I imagine is totally fine with them. I gave them 3 stars because I guess if you're part of their crowd you probably love the place.

Yelp
The Barn Light is a little bit of PDX nestled into downtown Eugene. This place has a good feel to it, a bar with a twist of coffee house if you can imagine that. We visited for about 2 hours and had a great time here. The beer selection is pretty decent. Displayed on a huge green and red board (see pic), you should be able to find something to sip on ranging from 6 different kinds of coffee, to 7 different beers and about 8 house cocktails. Not to mention, they also have a pretty vast selection of beer in cans too. I would say one of the best things about this place is they serve their drinks in Mason Jars. HAH! Yeah, I said Mason Jars. If you're turned off by that, don't even stop by here. I've drank out of Mason Jars my whole life due to having a mother who cans and jars any and everything, so for me personally it was welcoming to be able to sip my beer from those familiar glasses. Oakshire's Spring Forth was on tap, and it was a real well balanced brew. A little malty, but plenty of hops to keep it even. I'm not sure how often they rotate their taps, they apparently had Boneyard IPA a few weeks prior, but not when we were there. Damn it! Great place to sit down after work and throw a few back.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast, lunch and a place to stop by for a beer. Be sure to try the fantastic breakfast sausage on a biscuit or on a fine roll with egg and cheese. The beer is good the coffee is spectacular.

Yelp
I've not seen so many square glasses paired with lace-up boots & flannel overshirts since - since, two weeks ago in Portland! Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore... hold my coffee for me- I'm off to St. Vinnie's for my own flannel & military surplus jacket! As it is (cool, down to earth, hip) The Barn Light fits perfectly into Eugene's revitalized downtown area. The space is comfortable, the lighting is soft, the tea (I had loose leaf vanilla rooibos) is excellent, the menu is extensive, and all drinks are served in adorably chic mugs/glasses that appear to have been lovingly selected and salvaged from vintage thrift shops. If you need a location to meet up with friends, get some work done or take artsy pictures, The Barn Light serves all those needs admirably!
google avatar

Yelp
I like coming to the barn light for a drink or to study. It's not super loud so you can have a conversation or work during the evening. The staff is also always friendly, and you have an assortment of drinks and specials always on the board. I've never eaten here but I've never had a problem with any of the drinks I order! I particularly like their specials, they are always unique and delicious!

Yelp
We came to Barn Light a few days ago. What a neat idea, to be both a coffee shop and a full bar, and offer some good eats while you're at it! I'm not sure I can think of any similar concept in SoCal, where I'm from. This place is totally hipster, and has a fun feel to it. The service is great and the people are super friendly! We weren't feeling too hungry at the time, so my husband ordered a bagel and cream cheese, and I a good ol' grilled cheese and garlic tomato soup. It looked like the soup and sandwich came with a side of homemade pickles as well, Which were delicious. My favorite was the soup, a perfect tomato soup! It had a bit of a kick to it, just the way I like it. I was a bit more on the fence about the grilled cheese, but take my word with a grain of salt, I'm not a universal fan of cheeses and am pretty finicky with them. I think the grilled cheese had a cheese that was too strong for my palate and was only made better by dipping in the tomato soup. Decent together, but I also could have done without the sandwich. I also ordered the side of Brussels sprouts, which were so good, but they threw me off a bit as I was expecting a hot and freshly roasted Brussels sprouts and not a cold salad. All this went with a shot of espresso with like a tonic water chaser. The espresso was strong, a little too strong, but it got the job done (job being caffeination). The chaser was definitely welcome. I'd like to come back and try some more of their menu and drink options in the future. All in all, a great experience!

Yelp
Since there are so many cool food places in the area, my friends and I were having trouble deciding where we wanted to have dinner. The unassuming silhouette of a light being illuminated caught my attention and we had decided. At first, we were excited to seethe array of entertainment, including a shuffleboard and foosball table. Then we were charmed by the seemingly cryptic decor adorning the walls. By the time we ordered, we were utterly charmed with the rustic postcard delivery cards. But that's where it all ended. At 8:41, my friend and I were told that they had switched over to their late night menu even though our other friends had just ordered full entrees just moments before. After some discussion and pleading, the bar tender talked to one of the cooks and ended up taking our order. We started to enjoy each others' company and consider playing shuffleboard when one of the waiters came to our table: "I'm sorry, there was a miscommunication and that is no longer on our menu." My two friends had been disappointed and had to settle for something else. (I think it was the Texas toast bread or something that they had discontinued.) We finally migrated to the shuffleboard and learned that it was debilitatingly slow (without a side reserve of sand) when the waitress returned: "I'm sorry, but we don't have tomato soup." This really upset another. When we got our food 20 minutes later, we were disappointed to find that the brussels sprouts we had been looking forward to were unexpectedly cold. Luckily, I ordered the turkey bacon avocado sandwich (called the BLT in the BLA, or something like that). Although the bun provided a generous ratio of bread to sandwich, it had a decent blend of flavors and the bacon could only be described as "big". My friend had the tuna melt which was obnoxiously cheesy and turned out to be the only hot thing at our table, besides us. On the bright side, my vegan friend was appeased by the hummus and pita plate, which was beautifully represented in a sun pattern with a hipster jar of hummus at the center. It was your standard hummus with nothing special about it, but the Lita was generous. Overall, their charming atmosphere was lackluster in light of our poor dining experience. I can recommend this place for drinks and bar snacks, but definitely not their entrees. Order at your own risk!

Amber R.

Yelp
The bartender laurel was extremely rude for absolutely no reason. Made my drink with salt around the rim instead of sugar, and weren't wearing there masks. Won't be going back
google avatar

Ally Y.

Yelp
The barnlight has a sweet patio which makes for great people watching. The bartender that we ordered through was pretty unhelpful. She seemed to want to serve us even though there were no customers behind us or on the other side of the bar. The Barn Light had been recommended to us and it was our first time there. She was not helpful when we asked for drink suggestions. The drinks ended up being okay and the food was good but we went elsewhere to spend our evening after all that. A plus is that they have wifi and that it's accessible from their patio :)
google avatar

Lena A.

Yelp
The 3 stars is for the latte I got the other morning, silky on the top (1st sip) and then was just warm milk after that, and the espresso tasted too bitter, like the pull time on the shot was wrong. I'm really picky with my espresso drinks. Especially if they are charging the prices that they charge. I would have had her remake it, but they had a line by then. All in all, a terrible latte. It makes me not want their coffee anymore. I think a lot of the O. G. baristas are gone now. The barn light still gets points for great atmosphere, a good karaoke night, and that shot and a beer special! However their mixed drinks leave something to be desired (and are jiggered Not a free pour! ) and their coffee/barista work is disappointing.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday night in May of 2018. It was a bit loud inside since we were looking for somewhere to talk, but outside was perfect. They had a happy hour all night, so we ordered several rounds of beer. The patio was great, though warm wafts of pizza-air from Sizzle Pie next door kept tempting us! We had a small frustration of the cigarette smoke from neighboring tables, but were able to move upwind to avoid it. Their after 7 menu leaves quite a bit to be desired. We had some nachos, which I think were vegan (at least i hope so, otherwise the cheese was not good! It was ok for vegan cheese). The nachos were salty but just meh, and left us wanting something more satisfying, at least they were only $4. Fortunately they allow you to bring outside food in after a certain point so we gave into the pizza craving and ordered some slices from next door. Over all a great night, with friendly servers and decent beer and prices.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Great vibe. Great karaoke. But I didn't feel welcome in a new bar in a new town by the arrogant bartenders that were mean about my horse voice. Weird, but I'd definitely come here again.
google avatar

Marcy M.

Yelp
Well... I grew up in the PNW and am a lover of coffee. I live on the East coast now but was in Eugene for the weekend. I love the abundance of coffee shops there! On the East coast your only choice is Starbucks. Anyway, some ladies were showing me around town and took me here. Really cool decor and atmosphere! I had a vanilla latte and it was really good with fun foam art on top. I don't want to give 5 stars because as others have said the staff wasn't super friendly. Just a very flat "have a good day" when we left. She was just saying it out of obligation. I went during the morning but apparently this place turn into a bar at night? Could be cool to go back for that someday.
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
We visited the barn light for the first time and got a drink called the Fitzgerald, it was $10 served in a very tiny glass and wasn't good at all. We got another drink which I can't remember the name of, it was also awful. I think this place is cute on the inside but all 5 of us were so disappointed in the drinks. Not only the taste, but the price of $10 considering how small the glasses are.
google avatar

Anna K.

Yelp
I love the barn light! I come here a few times every few months and I'm never disappointed. I think they have great food, especially the Bacon Slaw sandwich. It is served on small slices of toasted Texas toast, and the slaw is amazing! The bacon is also great, but who doesn't love bacon?! It is also served with a side salad with these great pickled onions. I personally don't care for the dressing they serve with the salad, so I usually just eat it without. They also have super good drinks. It's not the place to go if you're looking for a cheap night, but it's definitely good. I think it's a fun place to go either o a little date or with a small group of friends.
google avatar

Maria B.

Yelp
Love coming here in the AM for my lattes. I've gotten a few sandwiches and wraps here as well that did not disappoint. Another reason why I come here is for Sassy Cupcakes :) ...soo good! Pairs perfect with any cup of coffee.

Karen M.

Yelp
I used to like this place, but now every time I come here, I like it less. First they made the happy hour not worth while. It used to be $2 off a draft beer or a house wine. Now it's $1 off a draft beer, house wine, OR cocktail. Whoop dee fucking do. My $6 beer is now $5. OR I can spend $8 on a cocktail instead of $9. No thank you. I can go to other bars with better prices. Then they reduced the food menu. I understand needing to streamline your menu options to reduce food waste, but they got rid of the food items I actually ordered. And now, today was the tipping point. I order a hot chocolate, and got barely warm milk with a hint of chocolate syrup. A waste of $4. I don't even want to drink it. The coffee was never great here anyway. Definitely not coming back.
google avatar

Kristine X.

Yelp
Ordered two lattes that were pretty much lukewarm. Got it to go, and realized it wasn't very hot by the time I had already left. The caramel I ordered also wasn't thoroughly mixed in and was chunky at the bottom. I will probably only come back for drinks in the evening.
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Cute little spot! I popped in for coffee and a lil breakfast sammy the first weekend I had visited here. Chatted with the gal behind the bar about things to do in Eugene and she was super sweet. Definitely need to come back for a cocktail or three, seems like this place is "my vibe" where I could meet a few new like-minded friends. Also another place that has oat milk, so I am a big fan.
google avatar

Roger R.

Yelp
Had an issue with a drink. Ask for it to be made differently. Woman was totally rude. Asked if I could talk to a manger. Low and behold, rude woman(Katie) was the manager. Needs training in customer service. So as I sat there finishing my ruined drink, I watch her be incredibly rude to one of her vendors? Yuck. Won't be back.

Yelp
Pros: - Decent prices - Good location - Benches are comfy - Karaoke nights are fun - Have places to plug in laptops, and free wi-fi - Good coffee - Good other drinks - Chill about people using whatever door - Good music - Nice outdoor seating - Friendly staff that also keeps out of the way, e.g. not annoying - Chill about people holding large, unannounced meetings which blows my mind Cons: - Those light blue-green metal chairs are HORRIBLY uncomfortable for people with average to large sized butts - People like to camp out with their laptops and make it where there's nowhere socially acceptable and comfortable to sit and just chill - Plugs for laptops are in a really weird place, and pointing down and at an angle, and force you to go on a weird hunt under the table for them - Pretty small, and the actions of others can easily get in your way - The number of people here and what's going on will influence your entire experience. Sometimes it's quiet and chill, other times it's loud and packed - it all just depends - If the hipster aesthetic bothers you, this will be your personal hell Summary: Not my favorite place, but everyone likes to meet here. It's a lot better when there's less people around and they've got some sweet jams playing. Otherwise, I start to feel really out of place and uncomfortable. I'm not really sure why. The staff is great and the food is great and it's clean. It's all in the seating and programming of the space, I think.

Yelp
We decided to try a new to us lunch spot today. I am really glad we did. I like that it was a tea/coffee house, / bar. We had coffee, and mint tea with our lunch. He went with one of the breakfast sandwiches, and I had the salad with the maple vinaigrette dressing and, the mug o pot roast. And you bet I added that mug o roast to my salad! When I make a roast at home I look forward to left overs so I can have it with salads. The salad and pot roast from here is excellent! I like the decor on the walls which has a nostalgic feel, and I love that they have a foos ball table, and shuffleboard table. We played a little after we ate so I could finish my pot of tea. As we were there I wondered if they had good Bloody Mary's. Which the only way to find out.....I guess go back and get the yummy salad and mug o pot roast. I see they have other great food on the menu but I am limited on what I order because I don't eat bread anymore. Sad for me, lucky for you guys. Everything looked and sounded great!

Yelp
This is my favorite chillaxx-over-a-cup-of-coffee-place in all of Eugene. Unpretentious, laid back vibe. Delicious coffee. Great beer selection. Kitschy, retro, hunting lodge decor. A welcome change of pace for Eugene.

Yelp
Another loud and obnoxious "hipster" place. Downtown needs better restaurants than this sort of crap! Eugene restaurants have this ridiculous tendency that is occurring at EVERY new place that opens. Hard surfaces that sound simply reflects off of, NO CLEAR SIGNAGE to know you are to order at the counter, then wait for your food to be brought to the counter and announced with your number (not clearly marked when there are several orders coming out at once), then bus our own tables. AND YOU STILL HAVE A TIP JAR IN FRONT OF THE REGISTER???! WTF - if I am going to order myself at your counter, pick it up myself, then bus my own table. YOU are NOT GETTING A TIP - pure and simple. Get a grip Eugene, if you want to be all trendy then get off your high horse and act like a respectful restaurant that treats their patrons like patrons and come to my table and take my order...and bus the table after, then you MIGHT GET A TIP!

Yelp
TWO THUMBS DOWN!!!!!!!! What a bunch of yippity yuppies AND the worst part is they're super rude, especially the short dark haired bartender(someone needs to tell her to pull the stick out of her ...) Had a horrible experience here, but I'll spare you all the details. Let's just say it left me with a bad taste in my mouth..... If you want to be treated like trash definitely give this place a try! You won't be disappointed! I will be calling management but from the sound of it they're not known for their coffee or cocktails rather their speciality is horrible customer service with a side of raging biotch and a twist of passive aggressiveness. Shaken the fuck up, not stirred.

Yelp
I went here the other night with my friends as we ended up downtown a little earlier then expected and most of the bars were dead. I had never been before and had wanted to check it out. The atmosphere is super cool and totally hipster like everyone else has stated. I was disappointed when I ordered a Washington apple to drink and they didn't have the stuff to make it. So I settled for a vodka cran, they serve their drinks in mason jars but not normal sized mason jars. They are about half the size. If I am paying 6 bucks for a drink I at least want a normal sized glass worth. I guess the positive was the bartenders are super cute. It was also nice because they noticed some guy was kind of bothering my friends and they came to check on us to make sure we were okay. This place is newer so maybe they will start to get more selection and hopefully bigger glasses.

Yelp
Thursday night karaoke! This is no trashy karaoke dive - a LOT of quality performers here, and everyone spectates. It gets pretty packed during karaoke, and becomes mostly standing room. When it's crowded, it's difficult to get a drink. Very young and friendly crowd. Cool place - excellent karaoke!

Yelp
The Barn Light is the new gem in downtown Eugene. The staff are friendly and all are such experts. The bartenders are outrageously good and the drinks are not cheap, but reasonably priced for a bar that puts so much effort into what they do. I personally like to come in the afternoon when it's not so busy and have their excellent "green" oolong tea and a scone- the fig one is really good. There are a lot of special touches that make this place amazing, like outlets under the bench seating, vintage stoneware teacups, evening events like Game Night and really excellent staff. The food is simple but good, but keep in mind that TBL isn't a restaurant, and the coffee and bar drinks are really the star here. I wish there were more vegan options, but they do have a few. Meat eaters will love this place because of all the excellent meat sandwiches! As to the strange Yelp reviews that say "there are too many hipsters," TBL does attract a lot of 25-35 year olds that like long skirts and plaid shirts, but everyone is very friendly and there is no "hipster vibe" where people are snooty. Giving a business a bad review because you don't like the style of their patrons is pretty crappy. I would really highly recommend the place!

Yelp
It's cute how people complain that this place is "hipster." It's downtown, what do you expect? Better than it being full of hippies. They make the best Bloody Mary's I have ever had in my life and their happy hour is pretty affordable. I nearly live at this place though, so I may be biased.

Yelp
This is a good place for coffee, PBR, or artisan small batch free range organic grass fed free trade shade grown hooch. It's a classic hipster habitat, but don't let that scare you away. Yes, all of the staff exhibits hipsterlicious pieces of flair including (but not limited to) handlebar mustaches, knuckle tattoos, preposterous beards, glasses, and generalized aloofness. There may be a portal to Southeast Portland buried underneath it. They serve Water Avenue Coffee, which is both awesome and not super common. And they know how to make coffee both reasonably quickly and reasonably well. Prices are good, and their munchies are good, too. Come early, though. This place gets invaded by the laptop-afflicted quickly.

Yelp
Bartender didn't make me feel welcome and she didn't let me play shuffle board because they were closing in a half hour. Free fooze ball is great but I guess if you're not a hipster-regular, they don't want your business.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times and have had a good experience each time. I like the atmosphere, bartenders are friendly, and I like the drinks. I've really enjoyed sitting outside at the tables this summer. We brought our dog with us and had a couple of drinks. It was a nice evening.

Yelp
Best coffee in town. I go pretty much daily. I don't understand the anti-hipster hate. They're all nice folks. Just don't order a s'mores Frapacino. You're a grown up. That's a milkshake. If you want a milkshake get a milkshake. Coffee requires a grinder, not a blender. Oh, and if you want the special coffee they only serve to those of us with beards and flannel shirts, knock on the counter three times and say, "modest mouse has gotten so mainstream." Then wait. If you speak they'll know you're a tourist.
