"Aside from the closed-until-further-notice Champagne Champagne (we miss you), The Barnacle is our favorite bar on Orcas. When the lights are low, all of the reclaimed wood and ambient rope makes it feel kind of like you’re in an old ship bobbing on open water—only you’re a little tipsy from fantastic cocktails instead of seasickness. Their drinks have a ton of variety, from smoked Manhattans to mojitos with freshly-muddled blueberries, mint, peach, and Mexican mole bitters. If you’re a patio pal, they have a gravel patio with extra seating. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Great upscale cocktail lounge. Had a “90 days of August” which was fantastic. Love the intimacy of this small bar. We were there late so had already had dinner but their cheeseboard menu looked great. Proprietor was a snappy dresser and gave a sophisticated air to the place. Highly recommend.

Cute spot! We had the cheese plate which was a 10/10. I wish there were more crackers to balance out the plate though. Friendly service as well.

Fantastic cocktails crafted by the owner Michael. Small and quaint space but perfect for our week night visit. You can tell this bar in a staple in the community. Lots of local knowledge was shared and really helped on our decisions for the orcas island. Highly recommend a visit here for high quality cocktails

This place is a dream — hip and low key vibes, great music, fantastic cocktails, tasty eats. It feels both incredibly specific to the island and exactly like the local bar you wish you could have in your neighborhood, wherever you live in the world. Bartender Jeff’s excellent service and kindness made the experience particularly perfect.

Love this gem of a cocktail bar. Tight space seats maybe 20 inside. Love the old world decor with the divided pane windows in front. Super charming place to grab a drink and a snack before dinner. We had the Onion dip and Sardine pate with crackers. It was tasty. I would try the meats and cheeses next time. We had a chunk of the aged Gouda and it was proper

We landed here on my birthday while visiting Orcas Island. We had a great time here, Jeff is a wonderful host and made our evening very fun and special. If you're looking for great cocktails, you're in for a great treat. I can easily see this to be my go to place every time I visit.

Updating this review because fairness matters. We returned and gave this small biz a chance to get it right without introducing ourselves or expecting to be treated any differently than others. So glad we did. It gave us a chance to indulge in more of their excellent cocktails as well as enjoy their freshly made trout dip. Presentation was on point and they seemed to be back on their game. We look forward to returning frequently and adding this to our list of favorite spots one can't miss when visiting this island. Sidebar: They have Weller Bourbon on the shelf. That's not exactly a standard and makes for a killer Old Fashioned if not simply enjoyed straight up. Spell of the Sensuous was another hit. It's like a pisco sour with an upscale twist. Lackluster service at best. To sit outside waiting for service for nearly 20 minutes, then to place an order for two menu items and wait nearly 30 more minutes before my husband ventured inside for service (we weren't alone in our alarmingly long wait but the place wasn't abuzz either) is a disappointment. The cocktail prices are on the high side of the scale (they're excellent, I'll give them that) and to not be met with even the most simple acknowledgement made me wonder how this place has survived in the era of covid. How can a cute little spot downtown offer such inadequate service as visitors return to regurgitate life in this town? We couldn't even get a simple glass of water we'd requested. What a disappointment.
