The Barö blends very nicely with its surroundings and offers a good opportunity to relax and enjoy some quiet time. The hotel is built on a small hill overlooking the Barösund strait. The basic rooms have a view of the hillside, the better rooms directly face the strait.
It's a small exclusive hotel with very friendly staff. Be aware that the hotel not staffed at night.
You can reserve a private sauna and jacuzzi at an extra charge, or take the morning communal sauna. A masseur can be booked, subject to availability.
The exterior and interior is mostly black and dark accents with indirect lighting and spot lights. The window of the room is essentially a glass wall, which makes it feel like you are almost sleeping outdoors. And don't worry about light at night - the blackout curtains are very effective.
A stocked mini bar is available, at typical marked up prices.
We found our stay very relaxing, but the A/C unit in the room did bother us a bit. It's a cheap on/off unit rather than a modern inverter unit. As a result, it kept switching on and off during the night, accompanied by a fair amount of noise.
Overall a very nice hotel, but is it worth the steep price?
