The Barrel Room (TBR) seems the place to be on a Saturday night in Chesapeake! It has such a nice vibe in here. You would never expect it from the outside. Located across the street from Target, in the other strip of business is The Barrel Room (TBR), squished between Ever Jane Boutique and Great Clips. It's all quiet outside and then, you open the door and boom! It comes alive with all the activity in the space. It was pretty packed when we arrived. There was a good wait, but we noticed this beautiful couch by the window that faces out into the whole restaurant. We asked if we could sit there to wait or to eat even. We weren't really there for a full meal. We were just roaming the streets of Chesapeake haha, and had started our evening with Pelican Pete's pizza at Big Ugly Brewing (we can't pass up wood fire pizza) just before.
The hostesses were so excited that we even asked. They were like "Yeah! It's the best seat in the house but no one ever wants to sit there!"
Well, our lucky day! We were seated immediately and cut the wait time. Our waitress was a DOLL! I just wish I caught her name, but seriously. She was the best! Thanks Girl! I will be on the lookout for her next time we go back.
- Sips & Bites -
Mocktail - I don't drink, I'm usually the DD. I asked our waitress to just make me something and she did just that and came up with something juicy and refreshing (see pic).
Like I said, we had just had a pizza before going to TBR, so we ordered an app and a main to share.
Jumbo Shrimps - cooked perfectly with a light, crispy coat. Served with sweet chili sauce.
Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich w/fries - the sammie came with chicken, pickles, slaw on a brioche bun. It kind of reminded me of a Nashville style Hot Chicken sammie. The chicken was well cooked, loved the sauce and the fries were nice and crispy.
I am not normally one to like dark spaces, I'm more of the tropical, light and bright type of gal, but I dig the space at TBR. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu. Just a thought: we saw so many of this one drink being brought to multiple tables. Like I said, I don't drink and my husband was in the mood for beer that night, but it looks like they do specialty whiskey cocktails. It looks very intriguing. The cocktail has a smoking cap, they light it on fire at the table and voila! Smoke starts seeping onto the surface of the drink. Don't you love a show? You might wanna try it and if you do, let me know how you it is because you know your girl can't drink!
Stay safe, Friends!
