On the Grid : The Basement

"Underneath the Graveyard Tavern, there is a place. A place people go to when they don’t need to talk anymore, don’t need to think much, don’t need to play a game or watch a show. A place where one and all come to dance, and dance hard, and dance for hours. Different nights have different themes, from 50s and 60s rock and soul and glow-stick indie rock to 90s and 00s dance hits and more. Sometimes there’s a limbo stick. Usually, there’s a fair amount of sweat. And always, it’s a damn fun party in the Basement." - Treebird Branding

It was my very first time coming here and all I gotta say is that I lived my absolute best life. I came for the Atlanta Disco Society event that I saw on Facebook. I loved the idea of people dressing up in 70’s attire and just enjoying the company of others who are looking to enjoy a night of dancing! I also dig the 21+ rule because I don’t want to worry about people who aren’t mature enough to have a good time. It was a very organized and tamed event and everyone was friendly and respectful of others and people were able to look out for the well-being of others. I’m upset that I wasn’t aware of this before but I’m sure glad I know about it and I’m definitely going to drag more of my friends so they can definitely get to enjoy this. I’m also super excited to see the professional pics from the event. I’m glad to rate this 5 ⭐️ which is rare for me. I hope whoever reads this will consider attending the Atlanta Disco Society’s next dance event! YOU!👏🏾WILL!👏🏾NOT!👏🏾REGRET!👏🏾IT!

Went on a Saturday night with some friends. It started getting live around 1am. Music selection was good. People were friendly. Bringing a flask next time. The drinks were ridiculously expensive for the b.s. they gave you. But I'd definitely go back.

Google
Worst clubbing experience ever, and I go out quite a lot, someone tried to steal my watch while i was dancing. Just try to be careful coming here. Vibes were also not great, wouldn’t come back. Kind of disappointed

Went on a 404 atlanta night. The bartender was a total jerk. Me and a friend waited amd after being skipped over. I asked if we could order. I know he saw us move from one end of the bar to the other. We were patient we knew there was a line. A man who was in line after me ordered before me. That's when I finally spoke up and asked. He looked at me scoffed and took the next person's order. I hate to pull the I'm a bartender card but I am and that's not cool. Busy or not. I left right after that because I refuse to beg you to take my money.

Google
Tbh, I was a little too drunk to remember much about the spot, but we enjoyed ourselves there. Music was good. Service was good. Employees were nice. Parking was decent. I felt safe.

El Jewel

Google
The security guy who works the front door deserves all the credit for my five star rating! He was so friendly and helpful which is so important to me as a woman on a night out. He let me step outside so I could get service and let me bring my drink with me so it wasn’t left unattended, he checked on me, etc. Apart from that, great crowd, great vibes.

Google
It was blazing hot on the inside! I'm not sure if it was due to a lack of air conditioning or if it was because of the swarm of shirtless dudes. The bartenders were working overtime and it was appreciated! There's a patio on the side of the building which was getting a lot of use. I love that they accept credit cards at the door, though for a $2 fee, which is small when compared to the convenience and the safety of not carrying cash. The DJ was very good! It was an 80's themed dance party and I now have a new appreciation for the era. We were drenched in sweat by the time we left, so good times were had.

Google
Fun crowd, great cover band for 80s night. But pay at the door crowd got in before pay online crowd did. Fortunately we all got in.

Yelp
The Basement in East Atlanta Village is a small, intimate spot that really brings the vibe for anyone looking for a unique party experience. I visited for a Beyoncé-themed event, and it was a blast! The venue literally feels like a basement with a bar--cozy and laid-back, giving it that true underground party feel. It's very compact, so expect it to get a little hot and stuffy, especially when the crowd picks up. I'd recommend bringing a portable fan if you tend to get overheated. That said, the vibe was incredible! It really reminded me of college parties with friends, full of energy, great music, and a fun crowd. If you're looking for a small, intimate space with a great atmosphere for a themed party, The Basement definitely delivers.

Yelp
Very fun and welcoming place to come listen to great music and have fun. The parking situation sucks. Had to find parking down the block at different bar after driving around the area for 15 minutes or so. Very overwhelming if you don't know the area.

Aria B.

Yelp
Really Good vibe! I didn't get any food or drinks so can't comment about prices of those.

Yelp
And to The Basement last night for This Ain't a Scene and had the BEST TIME OF MY FUCKING LIFE!!!! The venue is much more spacious than I was expecting based on photos. The bartenders were amazing and all I got was a water! My boyfriend and I had so much fun and LOVED our time here!! My only gripe is the parking situation seems a little sketchy. Had a blast and I will be coming back!

Yelp
Simply made eye contact with bartender who walked over threatened to assault me if i looked at him again. I apologized for bothering him, he continued to physically threaten me, and when he came to take our order refused to sell us a water bottle or give us a cup of water. Proceeded to insult my girlfriend who was quiet the whole time.

Yelp
Always a great time. Never the same experience twice. Inexpensive/strong drinks and decent snack selection.

Yelp
So the other reviews were so mixed. I went anyways- was it packed? No- did we dance yes, the crowd was younger and I say this as a 34 year old. It is in a basement, lots of space. The girl bartenders were great, the DJ was good but I can only handle remixed too 40s that have a techno beat for so long. A little more base and booty shaking songs and this would have been a full 5 stars for me. 15min Uber ride I got tickets before hand (20 total) and coat check was $3- guy checking for vaccine cards and ID was on power trip, rude. He started the experience off with thumbs down but the owner or host of the part was nice once we got in. Place was clean and bathrooms were big so I don't what Everyone else was expecting for an underground party.

Yelp
I'm in attendance a lot. There I said it! Location: Beneath Graveyard which sounds very strange when you say it aloud. Parking: Pray. Parallel, sketchy uneven parking lots or behind buildings take your pick. Event(s): The Groove is the only reason I have ever attended anything at The Basement and it's the best R&B all night a girl can ask for. People are ACTUALLY dancing and ACTUALLY singing their heart out while sweating because it's PACKED. I said all that to say it's refreshing to have a night out where your phone can easily be in your pocket all night. *Oh yea the bartenders are great and I've never used the bathroom there just don't want to ruin a good thing ya know

Yelp
Probably won't come back. Dirty. Bad music. This place does look creepy ad ghetto from the outside. Entrance is from the side. There are two floors. Music sucked for the first half. No rap and hip hop until after Midnight when there was a DJ switch. My friends and I , separately went up to request songs an the first DJ said he didn't have those songs. They were very popular songs that everybody knows. Lol. Two medium sized stage areas, middle and back. Bar area is quite large. Bathroom and dance floor area is not clean at all. Coat check $3. Tickets presale to save money.

Yelp
Came on Halloween night - the cover was pretty steep - almost $35 for 2 people. Thankfully the drinks inside were reasonably priced. Atmosphere was fun overall with lots of people dancing and the bartenders were moving quickly. The DJ was so-so, he would play some absolute bangers but then mix and transition to a dud.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been back to the Basement a bunch of times since my first dance party. Each time the music has been disappointing and I am left wanting more 90s pop. The DJ always seems to play an overwhelming amount of 90s and 00s rap, which is fine in moderation!! I want my BSB, Britney and others. Not sure I will be back for a while....

Yelp
I had a great time dancing at The Basement, and I would likely go back if the same event were promoted, but.... The Basement is not a good venue, and I wish the event promoters would find a new space. The Basement is not just dirty...it's NASTY. The floor was wet and sticky; more than usual for a dance club. My flip flops constantly stuck to it. The bathroom was disgusting. I'm still worried that I might get a rash and I stood over the toilet. This was a very desperate situation, but I would have been better off going outside and squatting behind a tree. There were only 2 bartenders working a large Friday night crowd. They were fast, but couldn't handle that crowd. What's the point of having drink specials if you don't have the bartenders to serve them? It was oven-level hot. Occasionally my friend and I would find a random breeze or go stand by the entrance to cool off. I can stand some body heat but when it's already 85 degrees outside and there are 100 bodies pressed into a small space, please turn on the AC. Dang. Because I went for the dancing and had drinks at home before going out, I had a great time. But as a venue, Atlanta has more to offer.

Yelp
Finally found my go-to dancing spot! I typically go to the Clermont Lounge to dance but it's been closed for months due to renovations. Last night, some girlfriends and I wanted to cut loose and blow off steam. There was a 90's and 00's Dance Party going on! A couple things... Smoking is allowed inside. The ventilation system is okay but not as good as say Buckhead Saloon. Go fairly early. I got in around 10:30 pm. There was no line but it was still reasonably packed. At 12:30 am, the line outside is ridiculously long. The bathroom ran out of paper products. If you are a female, be sure to grab a bit of paper towel from hand washing area. A double vodka and Red Bull is $14. The bar tenders aren't super friendly but they are efficient.

Madison T.

Yelp
I used to love this place. Went tonight for Kanye night and the DJ made the following comment over the mic: "active shooter in the building"... we all, of course, freaked out. I went to the security guard at the front to ask if there was a security risk and he LAUGHED and said "shots are also called shooters" as if it was a hilarious joke that we should have picked up on. I felt so uncomfortable and unsafe that I left. Maybe it was a poor joke () but the SECURITY is the last group I would expect to take this so lightly. He was also VERY rude and dismissive. I will not be back while the current security is employed.

Yelp
Amazing 80s night, wish they did it more often. Cover shouldn't be $15 but definitely will go back.

Yelp
Dance party was fun but a bad experience overall. First, the bartender did not want to serve me the premium vodka I ordered. Multiple times he questioned me and said "that will be extra money" and I responded that I knew that when I ordered Tito's. Later in the night I went to the bar and asked for glasses of water. The same bartender said that he would give me bottled water for $3 each. I responded that I wanted tap water and he refused. I asked to speak to the manager who said that the tap water was not safe to drink and we needed to buy bottled water. When I asked if the ice cubes in my earlier drinks were safe, the manager was not able to provide an answer. He then passed me a bottle of water for free and walked away, refusing to continue the conversation. The dance party was fun but know before you go that you will not be able to make the responsible choice to switch to water during the course of the night. If you want a bar that respects responsible decisions, avoid The Basement at all costs.

Yelp
My husband and I went to Heyday 80s party night with live show Saved by the Band. If you ever have a chance to check them out, do so! It was a great experience overall but I do have a couple of tips and small complaints. Cons: Location. it was hard to find the entrance to the club. Be aware you don't get in through Graveyard. You go behind building and there's a small breezeway with an entrance door. If it's locked you're too early and just need to wait a few minutes. Smoking. It was very smoky inside. It's really not a big deal to encourage smokers go outside to smoke like Venkmans or other such establishments. Please update to the times, Basement, especially for 80s night. We're grown and would like be able to breathe while dancing the night away! UPDATE: 8/14/2018 I've been told they no longer allow smoking for Heyday 80's and some other retro nights. Great change! Cleanliness. I'm kinda joking here because part of the charm is the grime of the place. But, while floors and wall grit is one thing, toilets that haven't been cleaned in months is quite another! Floor grit is charming, black mold toilet ring is just laziness. Pros: Music. The DJ mix of 80s music was great! From Smiths to Madonna, it all rocked! And Saved by the Band always puts their heart into every performance. The singer even got whacked in the head early on by the base (I could see the red, raised bump on his head), but it didn't stop him! I tip my hat Sir! Staff. Very nice, polite and courteous throughout. Crowd. Friendly, welcoming, enthusiast. They came to dance and have fun and get drunk, not be seen or dress up. Well, a few dressed up, but it was more about the 80s I'm thinking. Uniqueness. There was a strange room in back that had a weird locking mechanism, like you'd pay a token to use the room but the door was open all night so not too sure about the lock. Contrary to other reviews, there were no mattresses and no big booths, so maybe they took them out. There were a few big chairs in a nook and two tables. The place is for dancing! Oh and playing pool, there are a few pool tables. If you go, wear comfortable clothing and shoes, bring cash and your own water bottle, prepare for changing out of smoky clothes in laundry room of your home, and dance your cares away. Frankly, I had a blast!

Yelp
Typical club scene, hot, loud, strong drinks, dirty restroom and an obscene amount of people. The music was excellent and a throwback to 90's R&B music. Good place to go for all ages. The minus would be the weed smoking going on inside the club. Please be sure its inside and not outside
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
You will always find me here for Nonsense, though that 90s/00s dance party is also a blast. Be sure to have cash on hand because there is typically a $5 cover. And don't think you can go to The Graveyard and come here on the same stamp, we tried that. Nope. You'll also want cash for the bar just because you need a minimum $10 to use a card and I don't trust this place with a tab. PBR cans are $3 and I wanna say mixed drinks are like $7? And totally not worth it they're so small. I prefer pregaming elsewhere first before coming here, honestly. Things typically start at 10 but the fun doesn't really start till midnight or later. Weird things always go down here. It's why I love it. There's kind of an elevated "dance floor" that I'm sure is also a stage when DJs aren't the ones playing. The place is decently sized and I highly recommend coming out for Nonsense if you've never been here. Just...don't wear shoes you really like and for the love of all that is holy keep your sandals/flip flops at home. Your shoes will be so dirty when you get home.

Yelp
The Basement is where you go to DANCE YOUR HEART OUT and shake it like no one is watching! I love the vibe of The Basement and how non-judgemental it is. Plus they play great music! So far I've been here twice for their Heyday 80s dance party, once for the 90s/00s dance party, and once for their Keep On Movin' rock n roll dance party. It's always a great time! BAR The bar is great and offers cocktails that are affordably priced. Be sure to bring cash though because credit cards can only be used for $10 or more. Plus it just makes it quicker to get your drinks. Great bartenders too! I once had trouble explaining the type of rum cocktail I wanted (noob status) but the bartender was great and hooked me up with a yummy malibu cocktail which was awesome. COVER The price varies by night, but so far it's been $5 cover for the 80s as well as 90s/00s nights, and $7 ($10 normally?) for the rock n roll night. Not bad for great music, a good dance floor, and an awesome crowd! TIPS - Get there earlier in the night before cover increases, but also to get some quality time in before it gets too packed because after midnight and into 1am it can get packed! - There is parking out back if you absolutely want to drive, but good luck finding a spot if you get there later. - If using Uber or Lyft make your location "The Graveyard" since using the address for The Basement will screw up the directions and cause a lot of confusion for your driver :) - Check out their Facebook page for updates and events OVERALL The Basement is always a good time. Highly recommended!

Yelp
First time in the basement, first I was a little scared to go in because the outside looked weird. However once in I can see why it's called the Basement. The bartenders are quick and friendly. Both girls last night were on their A game, it was great to grab your drink and keep dancing. Secondly I went on R&B night, the Dj was playing every song I grew up listening to. It was such a nice vibe and the people were really into it. There was no craziness going on just a very chill ambience. Ok the bathroom was eh a bathroom.... dirty and yucky. In the back they have 2 pool tables and some games, but it's secluded. Overall I gave this a 4 stars bc I had a great time but the bathroom eeewww. They need to do better....

Yelp
This place has turned into the new hip underground venue to visit. They do lots of dance parties but I'm partial to Motown night which is 1x per month. Every friend I"ve taken there loves it and can't believe how awesome it is. This place is really a basement so expect it to be HOT! They really need more fans. Most of the time folks go in and out of the venue trying to cool off out side (thank you for allowing re-entry)or crowd around the fan in front of the door. Keep on Moving is the Motown night and i'ts $10 to enter and drinks range from $3-$5 depending what you get. Cover charges for other dance parties start at $5. Make sure you bring cash for your cover charge! They have ATM's inside but who wants to pay a fee? The bar does take credit cards and I think it's $10 minimum but I could be wrong.
google avatar

Wesley T.

Yelp
This was our first time checking out the Basement and it was a breath of fresh air. It's not an ultra lounge or trying to be anything other then some cheap drinks and a lot of sweat from dancing the night away! This place is a club where everyone is to busy having fun to be worried about being seen. Don't dress up at all jeans and tees and a towel and go live your best life! Great spot
google avatar

Yelp
Always a fun time at The Basement. It does get crowded on weekends but ppl stay friendly and fun. Surprisingly good cell reception for being an actual basement. The every DJ brings their own energy and experience.

Yelp
It seems only appropriate that the music venue located below The Graveyard Tavern would be haunted. It's too perfect. I'm not one to typically believe in ghosts, but let me tell you my story and I'll let you decide for yourself. In the back corner of The Basement, there is an "anything goes" room: a small glorified closet with a keypad lock. I can't imagine the terrifying things that go down in this room, so my girl and I decided we needed a picture within its walls. When the photo appeared on my camera, there was a huge white streak across it. We tried again, same wild, blinding streak of light across the screen. I thought maybe it was my phone, so I took a picture outside of the room... no streak. About 10 pictures in all, from various places in the mirrorless room, all with a crazy diagonal streak. Creepy, no? In addition to the haunted sex room, this place is great. They've got a bed in the corner (not kidding), tons of giant booths, and a nice low stage with plenty of room to dance right in front. The bartenders were friendly, although I wasn't a fan of the teeny tiny drinks and $20 credit card minimum. Luckily they've got an ATM. I'd happily return to a show at The Basement and see my friend Casper in the back, if he's still there.

Yelp
Went here last Saturday with the bf since it was a 90's night. The cover was $5. And if you cannot guess by the name, this is literally down at the basement of another establishment. The air circulation down here was so poor that everyone was dripping sweat. Like literally. And since it was a 90's night, the massive crowd that overtook this place didn't help with all the hard breathing. The DJ this night was fun, and the music put me back to the old days (if I knew the song). The dance floor and stage was overrun by people, and the dim lighting made it much more fun to go crazy. Balloons were flying around and people were doing the same. Parking was relatively easy since we took his Ninja out. I did spot empty school lots that people did park nearby. There was also a park that one can even park. These are only a couple of blocks away.

Yelp
Theme nights! My friend and I came here for 80's night and the music was awesome. I couldn't keep my butt from moving all night long with so many good songs. You have to have a lot of patience when you go to a crowded place in Atlanta, and this place is no different. It got SUPER packed, really hot and muggy and the line for a drink was never ending. But, if you want to dance to some good non-top 40 music definitely check it out!

Crystal H.

Yelp
Man!!!!! We had an amazing time! Me and my boyfriend went to their Flava: throwback hip hop and r&b party just to have a nice night out! It was probably the best party we've been to!!! The DJ was GREAT! The drinks was good at a reasonable price and the venue wasn't too big or too small! The people was pretty cool too! Everyone was having a great time Highly recommend for a Friday or Saturday night outing
google avatar

Alexa G.

Yelp
My kinda club right here! First time here was a few weeks ago when they played 90s/00s music (the best!). One minute it's Ja Rule. Next minute it's Mandy Moore. So yes, diversity for real. It felt like a large karaoke session. Good prices on drinks. They rotate themes each week. I had so much fun in this tight space. Best to check out the website before heading out. Tickets are a tad bit cheaper online. No strict dress code. Like Kurt Cobain said: come as you are.
google avatar

Vanessa R.

Yelp
Oh man. I moved here about six months ago and have been suffering from a dancing void in my soul that I haven't been able to fill. The Basement came to my rescue. It's hard to find good dance parties that aren't clubby or nothing but techno. 80's nights are my shit, so I went last week to the one here and had the most fun I've had since moving to Atlanta. Tonight I also went to the 90s/00s night and it was also on point. They play all the jams and you can't keep from running into the dance floor. The DJ is always incredible. It does get crowded and sweaty but it comes with the territory. Generally a cover between $5-$10 so bring cash for sure. Go get drunk and break it down to some Britney Spears. You won't regret it.
google avatar

Raven W.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE the basement! I only go the first and last Friday of the month. The first Friday is throwback hip hop and r&b and the last Friday is strictly r&b. Both nights you will be dancing from the time you arrive until the time you leave! In between dancing and the inexpensive drinks, you are bound to have a memorable time!

Yelp
HEYDAY '80S DANCE PARTY - Paid cover at The Graveyard. Looked for staircase. Defeated early, my cover was politely refunded. (Graveyard doorman, however, likes to point to exit doors instead of using words. I know some sign language too, buddy.) Walking around to the rear of the building, The Basement is, well, a basement. In a dive bar. In a hole in the wall. Hard to tell where the dance floor began - it was packed just after midnight with lots of people just standing around talking or checking their phones instead of dancing. Guess it's like that at most places nowadays? Dunno. Given time, the fluff cleared out and the real party began. Plenty of cool people who don't believe in taking dance breaks, and rightfully so: DJ Kimber laid down some bomb-ass mixes. I'm usually good at guessing the next song fading in but she got me more than a few times, heh. Had a hard time figuring out which bathroom to use, which was strange because I wasn't drinking. I am, however, half Polish. So take that into consideration.

Yelp
Love it. Great, cool vibe. The coldest Fireball in town. Not pretentious at all. Great hang out place.
google avatar

Cassidy M.

Yelp
Way over occupancy. Had to wait 30 minutes just to get in. No room to dance and had to wait over 30 minutes just to get a drink. Was not worth a 10 buck entrance fee and it cost 21 bucks for 2 shots and a small mixed drink. If you like being pushed and shoved, having to wait at a bar all night, and being around obnoxious drunks this is the place for you!! My experience here was so bad that I didn't even try going to another club.
google avatar

Yelp
Some friends and I went to check out The Basement's Soul Train night on Friday... and it was one of the most different experiences I've had in Atlanta so far. The energy was great, the music was super funky and the libations were.... potent (lol). This is a decent-sized club with a LARGE dance floor, a very long bar with super fast and attentive bartenders PLUS (the icing on the top) a few old-school arcade games in the back and 2 pool tables if you needed a brief intermission from dancing on stage! Everybody was super friendly from the gentlemen handling cover/ID check to the Bartenders who hooked us up with drinks as soon as we walked up to the bar AND change so I we could play Ms. Pacman. If you are looking for a different type of night out - definitely stop by The Basement.

Yelp
What a great place to let loose and dance the night away with friends on a Saturday night. The Basement is not a fancy place by any means and the crowd is definitely more "chill" than the "dress to impress" type but that's what makes this place awesome! They typically have themed Saturday nights such as 80's night, 50's, 60's 70's night or even our favorite 90's and 00's night. The DJs that are invited here are fantastic. High energy, always knows how to get the crowd pumped and excited about each song. The crowd here is a good mix of everyone from the suburbs, hipsters, Brookhaven bros and just a general group of folks that have the desire to break many sweats on the dance floor. It's not well lit but that's okay! The area by the DJ has bright lights and is a slightly elevated from the rest of the area but it's always a good time and you'll walk away happy every time! It's a great place to visit after 11 pm to just get your dance on and enjoy the company of your friends. No one cares how you dance or what you're wearing. It's all about good music and great dancing! This is not a place where you need to get all dolled up. And if you do, you'll stand out. Casual, simple, clean enough and the crowd here on Saturday night rocks. I highly recommend you check them out if you haven't already. They are located right behind The Graveyard Tavern in East Atlanta Village (EAV.) Below is the link to their monthly calendar events that gets updated regularly: http://basementatl.com/calendar/

Yelp
Went for a friend's bday and enjoyed the all night R&B. Bar tending staff was fast and friendly. If you aren't willing to spend twenty to thirty minutes looking for parking, don't go. And if you aren't going to dance all night (I love to dance) be prepared to stand the entire time as it becomes very crowded by midnight. The only con was the non cleanliness of the bathroom and having to make my way to the bathroom from the "VIP" section.

Yelp
Great music and location. Very friendly staff. Two gripes: 1) no complimentary water at the bar, even though it's in a very hot basement. I'm glad the bottled water was only $2, but still... This policy strikes me as a good way to ensure someone collapses from dehydration. 2) lack of visibility for emergency exits. I am sure there are other ways out besides the front door, but from where I was on the dance floor, I couldn't spot any other exit signs. I really liked the overall vibe of this place. I was glad to see a diverse crowd, and I think playing music from the 50s & 60s (we were there for Keep on Movin') really encourages that. I looked around and saw a lot of people having a really great time. The attire ranged from casual to slightly dressed up. Wear your tennis shoes to dance in instead of stilletos and you'll fit right in. We got there around 10:30 when it wasn't very busy yet. By the time we left at 12:30, it had gotten very crowded, but I think that is to be expected on a Saturday night. I'd like to come back during the week. Oh, and even though some people were smoking, the air didn't feel especially gross and smoky. I didn't leave smelling like an ashtray, which I appreciated. Notes on pricing: cover is cash only at the door. Coat check is $3 but honestly totally worth it in the winter. There is a $10 minimum on credit card purchases at the bar (which strikes me as excessive).

Yelp
Came here for 90s/00s music night to listen for a night of dancing. Oy, little did I know just how sweaty, tired and out-of-breath I'd get from dancing for basically 3 straight hours to so many awesome songs - Britney Spears, Daft Punk, Chumbawumba, Backstreet Boys and the lesser band N'Sync, Bel Biv Devoe, etc. I had soooo much fun. SO MUCH. It was like real, real-life singalong karoke with a ton of dancing strangers! I will say, don't bother coming here with a fresh fro, you'll sweat it out, or a freshly made up face, you'll sweat your makeup off. Oh and wear comfortable shoes!

Yelp
Only ventured there once thus far and I was not as impressed as I wanted to be ... But I'll be back. DJs were a little disappointing. I simply love EDM but they were kind of all over the place. Solid drinks and bathroom was as I expected (yikes) I'll try again

Yelp
Went here for "Bey-Dey" yesterday. Oh, man. I was definitely way too sober for this - there was a huge line, people coming out where absolutely drenched in sweat, and the cover was a little more than what was advertised (not a huge deal, $10 instead of $8 - Cash only). There's a $10 minimum for credit cards at the bar. Definitely watch your step - the floor was C O V E R E D with fluids. Despite all this, I managed to stay in there for about two hours - it's a good time if you're prepared for some skin to skin contact (which was honestly less gross than bumping into someone wearing a wet shirt, haha!). Probably would come back again just to see how this place is on a regular night.

Yelp
This is a great little spot below The Graveyard Tavern. I stopped in for one of the Keep on Movin' parties and ended up dancing my butt off for over 4 hours. This is quite the feat because I'm not really one that dances. I can't talk about the shows or sound since I wasn't here for a concert, but I can say that it's a decent sized space to go see an artist perform. It's the perfect size for the Keep on Movin' dance parties. It's crowded, but not suffocatingly so. Plenty of space to move around and act like a fool dancing.

Yelp
Sketch bartenders. Watch your drinks, ladies. Could be a great place, but needs new staff.

Yelp
Maybe if I were younger, I'd get it? It's literally a basement below Graveyard, with some drum n bass music. The smoke machine is blowing smells of Cotton Candy which gets me energized but yet confused with the chill atmosphere. On a Saturday night, ladies get in free but guys do pay cover. I hear that 80s nights are fun...but it's just not my kind of scene.

Yelp
The 90's - 00's Dance Party at the Basement is . You can let loose, be weird, sing along, and dance with strangers. It is an accepting dance-however-you-want environment. It is crowded, smoky, and a little grungy but worth the fun.

Yelp
I attended PurgeATL's Friday the 13th event at the Basement, located beneath the Graveyard Tavern. I arrived dorkily early to make sure I got a hand stamp to see my favorite local band--so early I decided it wise to get a drink at the Graveyard upstairs to pass the time. After a couple hand washings and basic female movement, the black arrow almost had worn off my hand. I thought it was really nice of the girl gathering cover charges downstairs to refresh my arrow with a new layer of ink. The venue is a lot larger than I thought it was going to be, even with a row of restaurant-style booths extending into the back. I found the bathroom set-up interesting; a co-ed trough-like sink sits between each gender's restroom. Plus, there's a two-way mirror on the other side of the wall, so girls who think they're innocently (and obsessively) checking their mascara and hair actually can be seen by anyone chilling on the leather couch. Watch out when you're entering or exiting, though. I almost cut someone's foot open on the other side of the door when I left.

Yelp
This is such a hit or miss bar for me. I've gone and left because I was so bored but I've also gone and had the time of my life. Bartenders aren't very friendly, but they seem crazy busy so that could be why. I'd look up the theme that night before going because that will determine how much fun you have. The Kanye West themed party was hands down my favorite one.

Yelp
A friends band was premering and we decded to come and shoe some support, It was aloe smaller then i expected, but a cool venue none the less. We parked and headed in, paid the cover fee and got our stamp. The stage was down the stairs to the left and the bar to the right. The bartenders pour heavy and the drinks are reasonably priced. The sound was pretty decent in the place. There was a game room off to the back, All in all in was kind of a cool venue and the music was of a darkervariety so even more fitting :)

Yelp
Great music and theme nights! People are cool and the drinks are strong! I just moved here and have loved every minute that I have been going there!
