11 Best Museums in Miami | Condé Nast Traveler

"Just across the street from the beach at the northern end of South Beach is The Bass, a contemporary art museum that completely reinvented itself in 2017 after a two-plus-year, $12 million renovation by architects Arata Isozaki and David Gauld. The exhibition space is now twice as large—they've added four new galleries, space for educational events, a museum store, and a café. It’s a perfect rainy day activity (and if the sun comes back out, you don’t have far to go to soak up some rays). One of the biggest changes after the renovation was the opening of The Creativity Center, with classrooms, a multimedia lab and space for public programming that have opened the space up to education and made it much more family friendly." - Jennifer M. Celebrated for its seamless blend of 1930s Art Deco and contemporary design, The Bass stands as a testament to Miami Beach’s architectural evolution. Originally completed in 1930 by Russell Pancoast, the building underwent a striking expansion by Arata Isozaki in 2001 and a major renovation in 2017 by David Gauld and Arata Isozaki. According to the New York Times and Condé Nast Traveler, The Bass not only houses cutting-edge art but also beautifully embodies the city’s layered history, with coral limestone facades and airy, modern interiors. Its ongoing role as a hub for contemporary culture makes it essential for anyone wanting to see how Miami’s architecture bridges past and present.

Just went to the bass museum and it was absolutely amazing! The collection was so diverse, I could have spent hours just looking at all the different pieces. The atmosphere was super chill, which made it even more enjoyable. Definitely a must-visit if you're into art. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven't already!

Unique museum exhibiting art and South Beach at its best. Really worth visiting on a lazy summer day. Outdoor concerts in summer. Best place to park is Collins Parking Garage, 340 23rd street, right across from the Museum.

Like all art, the enjoyment you're going to get out of the museum is subjective. There were a few exhibits and artists I enjoyed but most of it just didn't connect with me, felt too hodgepodge. Also, $15 for 1.5 floors is a bit steep imo. Even going super slowly and reading almost every card, you're done in about an hour.

It's a very cool small museum. I loved the combination of modern and classic art. Also, the pieces by Ulla von Brandenburg and Rachel Feinstein were interesting. The superb atmosphere felt like a huge invitation to see and experience the different pieces. The staff was very friendly and actively asked if we had questions.

If I had paid, I would have rated it lower. Got in on a free Thursday evening. My favorite artworks were the ones that looked like drawings every elementary school kid makes at some point when you have the good marker pack. Quote from my companion: "Wow, I didn't know that my college dorm room was art." I did appreciate that they had a couple pieces of fine art.

Very cool small modern art museum. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful in fully explaining what to expect. The exhibits were very cool with full descriptions of what you're seeing. The weather exhibit was by far my Favorite part, such an amazing display.

Beautiful art space in the heart of South Beach. They offer a variety of modern art, including installations, video and more. They also have a small gift and coffee shop. Their outdoor space is also nice to stroll around.

Cute little museum. The second floor was closed as they were adding new exhibits. So wasn’t able to get full experience. All of the staff there was super helpful and friendly. Very knowledgeable and able to explain exhibits. They have a small market that sells small bites and drinks. The curry chicken empanadas were really good!
