Fabulous building… Wonderful village… Overall, a great pub, but we did feel it needed a good clean to be honest. Bar area looks and feels filthy dirty… and not in a good honest country pub way.||I think it was the bar manager was there when we walked in… He just carried on talking to some bloke sitting at the bar, and made absolutely no eye contact whatsoever… We were left waiting there for about three minutes with not a single, “hello I’ll be with you shortly.“ I realise he was busy doing something else but I was trained at top hotels in New York and London and you must always acknowledge new customers who walk-in. When he eventually did acknowledge me, he simply said, “are you okay?” Errr… yes. But I need a drink not a doctor, was what I wanted to reply! ||The correct greeting would have been, “Hello Madam, sorry to keep you waiting, what can I get you?”||Music was really loud and generally that trendy “acoustic version of an old hit” stuff… wherever we sat we couldn’t get away from it. ||Food was great… Branded greaseprof paper was a nice touch, we had bar snacks, then dinner later on there and both were excellent and came out very quickly.||Overall, a nice place, but it just feels like it’s run by kids and they are running it for themselves and not the customers…, Kind of like a place for them to hang out but if customers come in that’s a bonus.||All a bit too London trendy for us, so we are going back to the Welsh border for our breaks which has a lot less people from Shoreditch.
