We just travelled here ( Don’t judge us imao) it’s def a secret gem in Birmingham! I am glad we waited for lunch today…..Said should take 30mins but it only took like 10-15mins. I would highly recommend the pork rib eye with blueberry sauce on it, super crispy and soft juicy! Never seen this in other place. Super good!🫐 🥩 Also the goodness green salad is amazing🥑 Thank you Birmingham :) Such a good and lovely little city.

We had a great casual dinner in this restaurant. The quality of the dishes are really good. The green goodness salat was tasty. We just had a side size, and it was plenty. The soup with grilled cheese was great, especially the grilled cheese with brisket on it. But the best dish was the crispy brussel sprouts with pomegranate. The service was friendly. The atmosphere was ok, it’s a casual spot with the option to watch sports. I would come definitely come back for this great food.

Google
EXTREMELY RECOMMEND this restaurant. Their dishes were worth the wait based on their prices. The quality of their food was outstanding and very flavorful, fresh as well. You must try for yourself.

Let’s start with the cons and move to the pros. To start, the pictures on the restaurants website are unfortunately. It accurate, specifically with respect to the Philly cheesesteak. It looks WAYYYY different in real life vs the picture on their website. Have to zonk them for that. Second, we ate outside and there were an unusually high amount of flies. Of course I expect some flies when eating outside but it was a lot. Pros: The food itself was so good. My friends got the chicken Philly cheesesteak steak and the steak Philly cheesesteak. While they loved the food, they were disappointed that it didn’t look anything like what was shown on the website. Other food order were smash burger and pesto chicken pasta and both were enjoyed! The staff were friendly and attentive. They came around with water pitchers to refill glasses multiple times and cleaned plates from the table within minutes of finishing. Our waitress did a great job!!

This place is definitely a hidden treasure. It was live and exciting. Maddie was really in-tune and accommodating with our needs. We had the pork ribeye (which I'd never heard of) which had a blueberry🫐 glaze🙌🏾really nice/unique touch, with collard greens & conecuh. Korean bbq tacos (brisket & shrimp) w/ Parmesean fries, smash burger w/ sweet potato fries and chicken tenders w/ mac & cheese. The smoked old fashioned 10/10. The crispy brussel sprouts were really a conversation starter. Everything was really good, no complaints. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Rachel is a wonderful waitress. She has great suggestions. We all loved the Brussels sprouts. The shrimp and grits were delicious and a little different. Salmon and burgers were also very tasty.

Google
Fine upscale food meets Bar - best place to watch a game and still get good, health food options - brisket tacos! So good

Exceptional dining experience! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed by a warm, inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable meal. The restaurant’s ambiance is thoughtfully designed, creating a perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. Every dish we tried was superb. The ingredients were clearly fresh, and each plate showcased skillful preparation and a refined attention to detail in presentation. The flavors were rich and harmonious, making it evident that quality is a top priority here. The service was impeccable as well. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, without being intrusive. They anticipated our needs and ensured we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal fully. This level of attentiveness and professionalism truly elevated the entire experience. In short, this restaurant excels in every aspect – from food to service to atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience. We will certainly be returning!

Yelp
So glad we stopped here. Beautiful patio seating with large tvs, the vibe inside is more noisy sports bar. I totally get why everyone was outside. Traveling around the US for last month and we "almost" went super casual fast food- sooooo glad we didn't. First - they had a nice happy hour. I studied the menu on yelp and had decided my drink when I got there. Sad that the menu was "different" but true to most restaraunts- the tried and true stuff that everyone loves STAYS on the menu. We shared a. great bottle of wine and then my husband had the brisket korean tacos and substituted a wedge salad. I had a small green goddess salad with appetizer of brussels sprouts. Let me tell you... we have had brussels sprouts at over a 100 restaurants and this was over the top. They were crispy and savory but then my husband said- "hey... I think they have some yogurt on the bottom". I don't usually care for yogurt but whatever it was it was to die for. The balance of the cream, the brussel sprouts, and then pomegranate seeds- my mind was blown. Then he had a side wedge ( substituted for $4- instead of parmesan fries) was amazing. When everyone commented on the Korean tacos- well done Yelp fans- they were awesome. I did taste the kimchi but the brisket ( you can chose brisket, shrimp or chicken) was the way to go. At first taste- it was just brisket UNTIL you swallow- that is when the flavors pop- a hint of spicy but not hot. The palate said THANK YOU! The green goodness salad was ok but they "forgot" the avocado so once I got that it elevated it. Service was great, food was over the top, the patio was great, food was priced on point. Thank you for a great stop in Alabama. Come dine here!

Yelp
Yelp! This is my first trip to The Battery. First off, their patio is their hot spot. Everybody wants the patio but me. We choose inside seating which also has a vibe. The music is a bop with lots of TV's around the perimeter of the room. What else could you ask for? Olivia! Yes, our server who was the best. Thank you girl. Now on to this food. We are a party of 2, me and of my guy. Bae got the Philly with fries. He say pretty good. I got the club with fries and a side of summer succotash! Yum! But, this succotash though, some of the best I ever tried! Y'all already know, I'll be back.

Yelp
I came here last Friday for lunch with my boyfriend while we were out running errands, and it was just as good as the first couple of times I visited! He seemed to love it too and made the comment that we have a new place to add to our favorites! I don't know that you can order anything that isn't delicious off of their menu

Yelp
This is a great restaurant and we really enjoyed our meal here. We stopped in while traveling through Alabama and we sat outside, which was perfect on a nice day in May. We had a couple of nice drinks and got the roasted Brussels' sprouts for an appetizer, which were absolutely delicious. My wife had a Caesar salad and she really enjoyed it and I had a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich, which was also very tasty. Service was good and we would definitely come here again if we're in the area.

Yelp
We stopped for some comfort food and The Battery did not disappoint. Great salad, wings and soup. Our daughter loved it too, very kid friendly and nice spot.
google avatar

Yelp
This place rules. Only been twice and sat outside both times so I can't speak on the inside vibe but outside is great and comfortable with TVs on sports and spacious tables. I've had the Korean bbq tacos and Philly cheesesteak -- both excellent. I love the prime rib shavings on the cheesesteak and nacho cheese drizzle. They really do it right and legit like they do in Philly. My parents love their smash burger and wife loves the club sandwich. Their fries are also really unique and shaped like canoes which make them great for dipping. 5 stars for everything!

Yelp
I stopped by here for some lunch with friends. Luckily, we got there pretty early and I was able to find parking out front. The place was nicely decorated and we were greeted immediately. The service was great and the food came out fast.I kept my order simple with a sandwich and Parmesan fries. The fries were amazing and the sandwich was not bad at all. If I return, I'll try their smash burger. Someone in our lunch group had it and it looked so good. Try to get there early because parking can be insane.

Yelp
This past Saturday, I treated myself to a me date a day dedicated entirely to myself. After indulging in a relaxing one-hour massage, I found myself absolutely starving. Wanting to try something new, I continued my exploration of Homewood's restaurant scene and landed on The Battery. I met my aunt there for lunch, and as soon as we arrived, I knew we were in for a treat. The place was packed inside and out which is usually a great sign. After about a 15 minute wait, we were seated. The interior had a modern, inviting atmosphere, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was incredibly kind, answered all of my questions, and I never once had to ask for a refill. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was impressively quick, and every dish arrived hot. Appetizers Buffalo Wings - The wings were well-sauced and smoked to perfection, with the meat falling off the bone effortlessly. However, the biggest letdown was the lack of seasoning. While the smoky flavor was great, the wings themselves needed more depth. 7.9/10 (With proper seasoning, this would easily be in the high 8s or even a 9). Queso & Chips - The chips were fresh, crunchy, and unseasoned but still did the job. The queso had potential, but it lacked the bold flavors needed to truly stand out. It wasn't bad, but it could have been much better. 6/10 Entrées & Sides Wedge Salad - The salad itself was solid, but the bacon was a miss. It had an overpowering liquid smoke taste, leaving a strange aftertaste and smell. 7/10 Fries - These were outstanding hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. I also appreciated the variety of cuts and shapes. 8.5/10 Smash Burger - A well-executed smash burger with that signature crispy edge and juicy interior. However, the meat itself wasn't seasoned, which held it back from being exceptional. 8/10 Final Thoughts Overall, The Battery was a great experience, and I'd happily return. The biggest downside was the lack of seasoning across multiple dishes. If they improved that, their food would easily score even higher. That said, I still highly recommend trying this place. Final Rating: 8/10 Service: 10/10 - Absolutely fantastic staff! Would I go back? Without a doubt.

Yelp
I finally made it to The Battery! I only came in to have a glass of wine at the bar. The hostesses greeted me when I entered. The service at the bar was quick and friendly. Mandy was the bartender ; she made this a nice first time visit. The Sauvignon Blanc for $11 was refreshing and worthwhile. I looked over the food menu and saw a few items I would like to try in the future. This is a casual atmosphere that's good for hanging out. There's a covered patio that looks pleasant ( when it's not hot).
google avatar

Yelp
Appetizers were underwhelming but the game day atmosphere and attentive service still made the visit a positive experience.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with friends. Parking is a little tight but was able to find a spot. There isn't a whole lot of seating inside but there's a decent amount outside so if it's good weather you will probably be able to get a table either inside or out. We were served pretty quickly. They have a nice list of cocktails plus a few things on tap and then a bunch of others in bottles or cans. There is a full bar. I ordered the blood orange margarita. Tasted like a margarita to me. The blood orange didn't come through at all. We decided to try the short rib poutine as an appetizer. This is a fairly hearty dish and I was glad there were four of us to share it with. Having never had poutine before I can't really compare it to anything. I thought it was pretty good but I don't think I would order it again. For my main course I got the orchard salad. I was happy to hear you could get small or large. And you can add a protein if you want. I added chicken. I just got the small one. It was a nice salad and with the chicken on it, it was plenty for me. I really enjoyed it. Hubby got the cheese steak which I tried. It was very good. Being from Philly I'm pretty judgy about my cheese steak but I would rank this one as my second favorite in the Birmingham area. My friend got the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collards. It was huge. She said it was great. My other friend got the tacos which he seemed to enjoy. Sorry I forgot to ask him how they were. How rude of me! But I didn't hear him complaining anyway. Service was great. Food came out fast, order was correct and the food was hot. I look forward to coming back here!

Yelp
Another spot that delivers great service stop by and see Jada. She was fantastic as soon as we were seated she took our drink orders, then brought us our drinks. Also she started the appetizer which gave us time to look over our menu. She gave some really good options. The Queso cheese was very good not too spicy but a good flavor. The Mojito was right on time for a Saturday afternoon. The bar did a wonderful job and making that drink that day now the Korean barbecue chicken an amazing taste love the flavor the Korean barbecue brisket. It had a little bit more of a hint of a spice heat kick to it. I like the flavor, but if you do not like heat stay away from the brisket. There's plenty of seating on the inside and they even have outside seating as well. Great place to catch up with family and friends they have TVs and the bathrooms are always clean.

Yelp
Food was hot and fresh! I recommend the Crispy Brussel Sprouts that came topped with pomegranate seeds, eastaboga honey and goat cheese. I don't have pics because it got ate really quickly! Also the wings were superb! My son said the buffalo chicken sandwich (although a beautiful presentation) was as just ok! Service was amazing! It rained so we played musical chairs and the staff was amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
The food was fantastic. Something for everyone in my family. The service was great. They were kind and helpful. The only issue is parking but not enough to knock off a star.

Yelp
Me and my husband first time visited this place base on the review. I ordered a smash burger and my husband ordered 3 appetizers as meal. We were sitting there for almost an hour but there were no food came out. I looked other tables, they did not have food came out either, other people were there before us, this was slow Sunday night, the restaurant was half empty. We left the tip for the two cups of water we had and left. Very bad service, will not go back! Those reviews must be bought it from somewhere or if you got lots time to sit there wait for your food, then this is a place for you.
google avatar

Jo M.

Yelp
Sat at the bar for dinner. The female server I had wasn't very friendly and didn't provide daily specials. There was a younger, male server that helped some guys sitting next to me and he provided a whole list of specials that weren't on the menu, some that I would've liked to order if I heard them earlier. Ordered the smash burger and it tasted good. Great portion. There was plenty of seating indoors and out. The inside was very dark though.
google avatar

Gabrielle L.

Yelp
I love coming to The Battery for a good Saturday or Sunday Brunch. It's nice because they have a lot of TV options, outdoor and indoor seating, as well as casual dining with quality food! I can always find an excuse to suggest eating at The Battery
google avatar

Tara R.

Yelp
The Battery is one of my favorite restaurants in Birmingham. It's an elevated sports bar with a lively atmosphere and a good selection of cocktails as well as draft beers. I've tried almost everything on the menu and my favorites have to be the grilled cheese with tomato soup and the Korean bbq tacos. The last time I went I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich and the Philly cheesesteak which were excellent as well. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu!
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
We had been to Alabama a couple times and have traversed the state and was happy to not only find the Battery, but most of all the restaurants in the Homewood area. Arrived after the lunch rush, was promptly seated, and served with beverages in quick order. The menu is really interesting with some items being out of scope of my food knowledge. We went with six of their wings with the Alabama sauce and a cheesesteak. The wings were flashed fried perfectly locking in the juiciness of the wings and their cheesesteak had a legit, super soft hoagie roll which could have come from Philly. Great experience and with a large menu, had something for everyone. Also nice, large, outdoor covered patio for you afternoon patio peeps. If we were able to go again wouldn't order the queso.
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
I ordered the brisket grilled cheese with tomato soup, and it was so yummy! The grilled cheese was amazing whether you dipped it in the soup or not, I couldn't figure out which way I liked more! Service was great. We went at 11:30 on a Sunday and didn't have to wait. Wasn't too loud either. We will be back!
google avatar

Asher L.

Yelp
The pizza was hot, cheesy, and full of flavor, exactly what I wanted for dinner. The staff was friendly and the food came out in a reasonable time. The only thing was the place got a bit noisy when it got busy, but otherwise it was a great meal.
google avatar

Kayla A.

Yelp
The Battery is in a great walkable location with plenty of parking, which is a huge bonus in my book. Inside, it has a cozy bar vibe and the service is excellent. The food can be hit or miss though. My first two takeout orders were great. The mozzarella sticks, wings, buffalo chicken sandwich, and black and blue burger were standouts. But when I went back to dine in, I was disappointed to find those same favorites overcooked and lacking seasoning. I'm hoping it was just an off night since they were pretty busy. I would return again but may be more apt to try a new place first due to the inconsistency.
google avatar

Bella A.

Yelp
The Battery is a fun place to catch some sports on tv and have appetizers. Servers were attentive throughout our visit. We ordered different appetizers for the table, and the fries and pimento cheese were a hit. We wish the wings would have had more sauce to them. Cocktails were also good - be sure to catch their happy hour! A more elevated sports bar scene. Would come back to watch a game!
google avatar

Nia A.

Yelp
Service was good and wait wasn't long at all even though it was Father's Day! I had to park across the street in a construction type area. My burger was really good but wasn't that seasoned. The quality of the burger itself really made me enjoy it. The parmesan fries are more like homemade chips and didn't really have a Parmesan taste to me but were ok! Overall I would probably come back.
google avatar

Erica F.

Yelp
The ambiance was great. Our waitress Mary was amazing. Our salmon was well seasoned and tasted amazing. My raspberry poppyseed dressing was a little different, but l loved all the fruit in the salad. My daughter had a kids smash burger, and she loved it.
google avatar

Westyn R.

Yelp
The Battery is one of my favorite restaurants in Birmingham. Even though they have a large variety of types of food on their menu, it's all top quality. After trying almost everything on the menu I can s safely say you can't go wrong ordering anything. The grilled cheese is simple, but paired with tomato soup it's one of my favorites. The pasta dishes are also fresh tasting and delicious. If you're looking for a place to watch games that's not too sports bar, not too fancy but right in the middle then this is your spot!
google avatar

Tanisha B.

Yelp
This is a pretty cool spot in Homewood. We ordered the smashburger and Philly cheesesteak. We also ordered the smoked wings as an appetizer with the Alabama white sauce. The wings were pretty good. The Philly came with yellow cheese instead of standard white cheese. The sandwich was a little salty but good. Of you are a fry lover, w prepared to get chips. Not potato chips but fry chips. They were more crispy than the normal fry. Tasty though. They have multiple big screens inside and out. The outside dining space is huge. I would come back to try other menu options. Overall cool spot.

Lauren B.

Yelp
Delicious food, brunch menu thoughtfully designed and prepared. Excellent spirit libations as well, not filled with an overabundance of sugary nonsense but real fresh ingredients. A shockingly low wait in addition to pleasant service. Will add this to our regular rotation for sure!
google avatar

Chessica J.

Yelp
The service was prompt. We were immediately seated and drink orders were taken. The ambiance wears lively with either baseball/softball or soccer being played on all the TVs. The food arrived in a timely manner and was delicious. Our waitress Jada was very pleasant and checked on the table often.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Nice bar and grill. Plenty of seating inside and out. Dining room is a little loud so not the place for an intimate meal, but if you're looking for a fun spot with friends or watching the game, this could be it. Service was efficient. Nice variety of sandwiches and bar food with interesting twists on traditional fare.
google avatar

Ryan P.

Yelp
Between good and great food. I thoroughly enjoyed the food , atmosphere, and service. Menu options are decent. Had the mule and blood orange margarita to drink. I would recommend either. I had a green goddess salad with brisket. Everything hit the spot. Watched some MLB games while I ate. Lots of kids and an adult birthday party. I would go back!
google avatar

Stephanie F.

Yelp
The Battery is the "neighborhood" place to meet up with friends for elevated "bar food" and a beverage. The food, service and ambiance are unremarkable, but consistent.

thomas p.

Yelp
Upscale layed back sports bar atmosphere. Great smoked wings. Try the Alabama white sauce. Servers were friendly. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Well, I've visited the places several times. What places in to their benefit is their location. Was plays against them is the parking. Now with that said, they have good cocktails and the food seems delicious. The service could be a little better, however that could be easily fixed with some training. Ambiance is relaxing and would visit again.
google avatar

Jody T.

Yelp
This place is nice, good service and good food. The atmosphere was loud inside, less so on the porch outside. Not on the menu, but they have a few beers on tap as well as the cocktails, wine, and bottles/cans.

Kandice C.

Yelp
Food was really good ! The shrimp Korean barbecue tacos were so good and also the parmesan fries were amazing! Definitely recommend this place for a nice casual, cool dining experience with friends and family!
google avatar

Joanne J.

Yelp
If you're looking for fun upscale bar food, give this place a try! This is a space spot with high top tables, tvs, and an outdoor patio. I made it in time for their happy hour from 4-6pm, with okay drink deals! The drink I had was a tasty honey vodka cocktail, and the fries and pimento cheese dip hit the spot. I think their entrees are a bit lacking, the burger was decent and wings a bit dry. Service was quick, so makes for a fun spot to bounce in and out of. So I think they excel in cocktails, beers and snacks, if that's what you are searching for!
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
My husband and I visited here on a Saturday evening and were seated quickly despite the crowd gathered outside. Our waitress was nice and answered any questions we had about the menu. We both had burgers and my husband raved about the blue cheese smash burger while mine was the basic smash burger and was decent overall. The Parmesan fries are delicious! I did opt to get the sweet potatoes as my side and was warned by the waitress they can be spicy but decided to go with them due to them being labeled as "mild." Once I began eating multiple of them, I probably would rate them more of a moderate heat level and had to have my husband finish the rest. Overall, the ambience was decent for a sports bar atmosphere, nothing special. It was a little distracting as there was an engagement party going on at the outside patio but we were still able to enjoy ourselves inside and overall will likely return for another date night soon.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
I can't say no to the epic grilled cheese at the battery! The brisket marmalade inside the grilled cheese makes it one of a kind. The tomato soup that comes with it has a couple fried okra tossed in. You really can't beat this combo! My husband got the Buffalo chicken sandwich and really enjoyed it too. The service is always fast, and the staff are always friendly. Somewhat the feel of an upscale sports bar. So happy to have this staple in Homewood!

Matt M.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from a top rated yelp location next to our hotel. We discovered the battery. A fantastic bar would definitely go back. All of our food was to go and all was correct because we were very picky. Thank you for getting it right.
google avatar

Kara B.

Yelp
Oh my gosh. This tomato soup and brisket grilled cheese is heavenly. I finished every bit of it. The brisket is sweet like maybe has some honey or jam cooked with it. We also devoured the pimento cheese. I am obsessed. Going to be craving this weekly
google avatar

Alice K.

Yelp
I had a decent time here. It was incredibly loud so keep in mind this is still a sports bar and will be bustling. Although it was a Friday night, I was seated quickly. Service was fine and attentive. I would recommend the bread pudding for the table, it was a good size for the whole table of 4 to try a few bites. I got the buffalo chicken wrap, grilled. However, the chicken was so dry to the point of being inedible! I had to spit out most of it. My friends got the pesto pasta. The portion size was genuinely very small, especially for being $26 I just couldn't justify the price and was in genuine disbelief. Otherwise we had an okay time, but I probably won't be returning.
google avatar

Zac H.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite spots in Birmingham and was consistently great. Tonight not so much. We got seated and that was the last time we saw a server. 30-40 minutes of no service.
google avatar

Evelyn b.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to eat! Great service and atmosphere, and the menu has a great variety. I order something different everytime I go and pretty much love everything I've tried!

John R.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food. Fit us in in front of an entire baseball team. Very nice
google avatar

Will E.

Yelp
We came here while in Bham to watch the Alabama game. Food and service was great. The wings were huge and Alabama white sauce excellent- Brussel sprouts with pomegranate were so tasty as well! Good spot! We will return.
google avatar

Jennifer R.

Yelp
The crispy Brussels were amazing? Roasted to perfection and all the right sweet toppings to balance the bitterness that usually comes with Brussels. The pomegranate was a nice texture to add for a bit of a pop/crunch! The salad was amazing too with all the summer fruits with mixed greens, we added salmon. Overall great meal! Service was great too! Sat on the patio. Great ambiance.

Jason B.

Yelp
Food and service are both excellent. The smoked wings are some of the best anywhere. Great burgers as well.
google avatar

Jim R.

Yelp
I I found this quite underwhelming. Customer service was lacking. We waited and waited, were attended to and waited and waited some more. The quality failed to make up for the staff attention. If the situation warranted, I would come back here nevertheless it would not be my first choice.
