Food was average, and the restaurant wasn’t very clean 🧹. But at just $11 per dish 💸, it’s very affordable—great for a quick, budget-friendly meal. Just a heads-up: this isn’t authentic Hong Kong-style Cantonese food, but more like northeastern Chinese-style cooking 🥢. For example, the tomato and egg dish 🍅🥚 was a simple northern-style version—mostly scrambled eggs with just a couple of tomato pieces (can see photo). The beef with scallions and onions 🥩🧅 had a slightly sour flavor, which might not be for everyone. That said, the staff were quite friendly and helpful 🤝, and the food wasn’t bad—it just didn’t match my personal taste.

made myself a deal: if this place didn’t charge me for extra rice, I’d give it 5 stars—here we are! My fiancé and I have been coming for a month and already visited 4–5 times. It’s quickly become our go-to spot thanks to consistently well-made food and fast, friendly service. There’s sometimes a slight language barrier since it’s authentic Chinese, but simple phrases or pointing work fine. The 32oz Hong Kong-style lemon tea is a must—only $2.50 with unlimited refills, and they even let you take it to go. The menu is extensive, the portions are fair, and they don’t nickel-and-dime you, which is rare these days. The only downside was a 30-minute wait for takeout once, but the Mapo Tofu was so good it made up for it. Restrooms are a bit rough, but that just adds to the authentic vibe. Great food, great value, and a new favorite spot for us!

Google
The price is awesome. Each dish can be low as $6. We had Brunch combo for $10.99. It’s not a 5 star dish, but the price, it certainly exceeds its value. The location is close to Main Street and Garfield Ave where it is the center of Alhambra area. This restaurant provides both authentic Chinese local food or typical American dish. U won’t go wrong to dine in this place. Because many elder Chinese already know this place, don’t get surprised if u see many elder Chinese dine with you.

Google
Feels like typical Hong Kong style restaurant. Place gets loud when full. Food is great, and price is very reasonable. Pork chop with honey garlic is very crisp with honey sauce. Service is good, and our food came fast. Free parking structure is available next to the restaurant. We came early for lunch, and there are empty seats, but when we are done, place is full and need to wait for seats.

Great place for quick Chinese food. And drinks! Lots of food to choose from and drinks!

Google
Decided to try some take out here and weren't disappointed. Got won ton noodles and beef chow fun and both were really good and reasonably priced. Service as efficient. Hole in the wall feel inside but we'll definitely do take out again here.

Not my mom's first choice for lunch special but close and easy. $10.99 dishes, 9am-930pm all day special (dine-in) in Alhambra. It's decent, if you ignore some sanitary issues. The chicken, and Chinese cauliflower are popular worth it choices. Food isn't too salty and oily which is nice. I liked that this place was on the lighter side of taste unlike other canto, or regional Chinese cuisine places with lunch special. For $10.50+ and comes with rice, it's hard to complain at that price with the portion size they offer. For Friday lunch time, it seems crowded and filled with seniors like my mom who loves deals over quality at times, and non-Chinese or tourist looking eaters....similar to ppl I would see at Mama Lu's in mpk. We've been here before but guess I forgot it. I would place it like a 3.5 stars and just rounded up because of it's amazing prices. The SO was craving fried rice. This place is not a fried rice place. But I did enjoy that it wasn't greasy or overly salty. If anything, it needed more salt. My kinda dirty napkin and cup were a turn off. I flipped my clean looking napkin to find that it was a little dirty in the back. I guess they aren't wasteful? I'm just hoping everything else is clean enough?

Google
The fried string bean is the best! The boiled fish fillets is not the best, but the soup flavor is great. The fried beef with green onions dish is big, but the beef is not the best flavor. However the restaurant offers dinning special menu with $10.99-11.99 with 2.50$ drinks discounts. Very great place to hung out with friends and family with affordable meals. Even the regular food menu price is good too. I like this place!

Yelp
Food - 3.5/5 - The food here is pretty good. The HK breakfast combos are a great deal and very tasty. I never leave without getting a warm pineapple bun but I do wish they gave more butter with it. You can never go wrong with a good congee and stir fry noodle combo either. Breakfast is from opening time until about 11am I believe. Lunch and Dinner here is also pretty satisfying. It's your typical HK cafe and that always hits the spot when you just want a tasty meal. Price - $$ - The pricing is quite average. It's not cheap nor expensive. Very good for what you get. I like coming here for the HK breakfast combos. Service - 5/5 - The servers are very attentive and quick. They have a great attitude and are really friendly. Ambiance - 4/5 - The cafe is quite casual so the atmosphere is chill and upbeat. Location - 2/5 - It's on Alhambra Main St. which means there's plenty of parking in the public lots and structures but you do have to walk around quite a bit. Just be aware. ____________ **Note: Location rating does not affect yelp review, this is just for informative purposes of other patrons only.

Yelp
This was my first time at this place. The inside is pretty spacious and there's plenty of seating. The service was like your typical Hong Kong style cafe. The waiters will come when you signal them to. However our food was served pretty quickly and the food was still steaming. We ordered the Fish filet with sweet & sour sauce, Singaporean vermicelli noodles and a chicken dish over fried rice (I forgot the name ). The portions are pretty big so it's best to share and the prices are reasonable. You can easily make two meals out it if you're eating by yourself. Sorry, they're not the best pictures, we were hungry and started eating before I took a picture of the food . I want to come back here to try some of their other signature dishes like (deep fried whole fish). They have a good selection of lunch specials with prices ranging from $10.99-$12.99. Also, they have really large drinks! Their milk tea was gigantic compared to their normal size cup of water. See picture for size comparison. Try it and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Yelp
I've drove past this café many times and finally decided to give it a try for a quick family dinner. I have been craving Hong Kong-style café food, we ordered the sautéed string beans, half a cold cut chicken, and beef chow fun. The service was quick, and I love how they were serving rice in the classic red containers. Other places only give you a small bowl of rice upon request and they charge for it! This cafe is an old-school Hong Kong café, and the space is bigger than it seems from the outside. There is free parking in the back, and the prices for the food were very reasonable.

Yelp
Always had a good experience here. Love their lunch and midnight specials. Husband and I use to order here once or twice a week. Service can be a hit or miss depending on how busy they are. The ambiance itself is pretty chill and normal noise level. Wooden tables and chairs. I wouldn't recommend a super large party since that can cause a longer wait. They take CC. They have parking garage behind.

Yelp
The Bay Cafe is located on Main Street in Alhambra. Their Chinese name is called "Tung Lo Wan" (Causeway Bay) but it's not a fancy HK-style Cafe. The interior decor looked a bit awkward with different color lighting and no other decorations with some loud music that I couldn't hear clearly. They have some TVs but always keep them off. They have many customers, despite the loud noise. We've waited about 10 minutes for our table. The food tasted pretty good and flavorful, the portions were big. Service was attentive and the server helped us to refill the drink a few times. Food: 4 out of 5 stars Service: 4 out of 5 stars Ambiance: 3 out of 5 stars Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Yelp
Came specifically for their cold cut chicken cause I heard theirs is good and we were not disappointed! Parking can be tricky since the restaurant is on Main St. Staff seated us quickly and were quick to take our order. Food came out pretty fast too. Tables got filled pretty quickly after we got there around 11 am. We tried several dishes, many part of their lunch special menu: -Crystal cold cut chicken (half) ($12.99): marinated very well and tasted great with their minced ginger sauce. Very tender meat. (5/5) -French style beef: first time seeing the beef cut like slices instead of small chunks. Taste was pretty good and tender beef. (4/5) -Bean curd sheet and eggplant with tofu ($10.99): only a few pieces of eggplant and more tofu and bean curd sheets. Sauce was good. (4/5) -Boiled fish fillet in spicy soup ($11.99): very mild soup and fish was very smooth. Also had some vermicelli noodles (3/5) -Seafood fried rice with salmon roe ($13.50): had small shrimps and pieces of fish fillet with egg whites. Could've been saltier. (3/5) -Honey green tea ($2.50): 25oz cup that is considered their small size. Tea tasted authentic. (4/5) -Jasmine milk tea ($2.50): milky tea and just the right amount of sweetness (4/5) Overall good prices and good service. The portions are smaller but that's because it's the lunch special- what more can you expect for the price. Will come back for more Cantonese dishes.

Yelp
The Bay Cafe is not a fancy eatery nor a place seeking to impress based on superficial concepts. Nonetheless, tonight the hussle and bustle of our table servers was beyond outstanding. There were 2 gentlemen who served our table with Vince taking the lead. Despite bustling several tables they were insanely attentive re-filling my husbands lemonade and providing anything extra we needed so quickly! They even went above and beyond to ensure our table did not wobble even before we noticed or asked. They should both get a raise and are the real reason I was most inpressed with The Bay Cafe. Beside the unbelievable positive customer service, our food choices were quite enjoyable. Most memorable of all, was the Sauted Beef with the String Beans. In fact, not embarrased to state we only ordered this dish based on seeing most tables had it served. Meat was so tender and the string beans were crunchy and cooked to perfection. Our drink were also tasty. We'd return to try other options.....the menu is so extensive and there are select dishes available priced at $10!!!!!! Other things to note: - nearby free parking structure - $2.50 tea lattes - credit cards with minimum $10 bill - available booster seats - outdoor seating - scaled added suggested tips on your bill so you don't have to do the math

Yelp
TLDR: One of the last restaurants in the LA area where you could get a full meal under $14. Their best deals can only be claimed dining in, but the rest of their menu isn't that far off in price. Taste is not as great as other established locations, but you're here because you're willing to sacrifice 10% of the taste to save a few dollars. Cold cut crystal chicken: Bland, bad bone to meat ratio, and a ginger sauce that's too salty. You get this because you're a chicken fan and a half chicken for $11 is a solid deal. French style fish: Fish is seasoned beautifully and the texture is very good. It's a generous serving with flavors that go very well with rice. Shrimp in Satay Sauce Lo-Mien: It had potential but the dish fell short overall. The noodles were fine and the shrimp was good. However, the satay was less of a sauce and more of an essence. It could be that they just didn't mix the dish well or not enough sauce was used. Either way, it looked way better in the picture and I was disappointed. Stewed Tilapia w/ Beancurd skin and Tofu: $14.99 for a whole fish, eggplant, tofu, and tofu skin. This is the best deal of the meal. The dish wasn't too salty, and it matched what one would expect to taste in a tofu hotpot. The dish was cooked well and it was a sizable piece. The tofu was good and the tofu skin's texture maintained even when buried beneath a bunch of sauce. Not the best tasting dish of the meal, but it's the best deal. Service: It's a classic Chinese restaurant, so expect the bare minimum. You're given what you ask for and nothing more. The only thing they'll be proactive about is the free rice refill. You'll have to call and ask them for the rest. This is a negative for most, but I don't care. Ambiance: The place has an interesting environment. It's never full but you won't say that the place is struggling for customers either. There seems to be an endless cycle of middling when it comes to capacity. It becomes funnier when you've been inside for 90 mins and you notice that the same tables being vacated are the same tables being given to the next guest.

Yelp
My family and I visit The Bay Cafe restaurant here at least once a week for lunch or dinner. This place has affordable prices, with an all-day special available for $10.99 from 9:30 am to 9:30 pm. In particular, the staff members are really kind, courteous, and attitude-free. Bring your family, friends, to enjoy food at The Bay Cafe.

Yelp
On our way to Santa Monica , this place was recommended for authentic Chinese cuisine. We are not disappointed. The place was very simple. Located on first street. The ambiance was very family friendly. We were seated right away and ordered food. It was served fast hot freshly cooked . The steamed tilapia was served last because of cooking time. The food overall was satisfying. Loved the freshness of it . The deep fried sole will always be our favorite. Crispy and fish was cooked tenderly. The steamed tilapia with black bean sauce was juicy . The sautéed green beans was crispy and tasty . It's garlicky which we liked. The chow fun with gravy was very filling. The salt and pepper fried pork was not oily yet super good. Overall it was true Chinese cuisine. Rice is free. They different selection of boba drinks too.

Yelp
Recommended by HongKong friend living close by. I stopped at to order 6 dishes to go. I had to wait for 20-30 minutes as it was busy lunchtime and I couldn't find the items I like online while driving there from airport. I couldn't order over the phone. They have almost all the authentic HongKong cafe menu with many canton style dishes that my daughter and grand daughters even my son-in-law would like. They love shrimp fried egg, Peking pork rib are must. I must have steamed chicken and some stir fried vegetables and fish. They taste good and the portion is reasonable. Hope I live close by. BTW, parking is behind the cafe inside a parking building.

Yelp
Service was great and attentive, super helpful and friendly! Salt & Pepper Chicken was flavored PERFECTLY, not too salty and the texture was amazing. This was probably the favorite thing I ordered. Shrimp and Eggs... I don't know how they make something so simple taste SO good. It's just shrimp and eggs but I would literally eat this everyday!! They serve your meal with rice and you can share it with your table. But man I highly recommend the shrimp and eggs. They eggs are slightly undercooked so it's so soft, fluffy and melts in your mouth. The shrimps are medium to large size and juicy! Overall perfect flavor for any time of the day. Parking: there are lots everywhere and isn't difficult to find. This location is smacked in between a bunch of cafes and dessert shops and is easy to find. Great authentic chinese food, love it!

Yelp
The Bay Cafe, Alhambra - Bean curd w/ dried scallop & mushroom - Cold cut tripe - Sautéed vegetables w/ garlic - Beef stew & wonton noodle soup I love the sense of comfort that Hong Kong cafes provide Big portions, low prices, and delicious food! What else could you possibly ask for The bean curd w/ dried scallops & mushrooms was hands down my favorite dish. The egg tofu is crispy on the inside, but buttery soft on the inside. Not to mention, pairing the sauce with a spoon of steamed rice.... CHEFS KISS ‍ I haven't shut up about this dish since the first time I've tried it. The noodle soup, sautéed vegetables, and tripe appetizer were very flavorful and tasty as well. Although these dishes may not look the most aesthetically pleasing for the average consumer, they are absolutely delicious The only downside is the long wait time. Overall rating: 9.25/10 : @eatwamburger

Yelp
The endless variety they have at Chinese restaurants always excites me because I never know what's coming. I always leave it to the regulars to order for me so I had not idea what was coming to the table until the waiter brought it out. The first dish that came wawa the baked fillet sole with rice and spinach cream sauce. I was so surprised to see cheese served in a Chinese dish but it added the perfect texture and savoriness since the base itself was so creamy. To contrast the creamy dish, a fried fish fillet seasoned with salt and pepper also showed up at the table. This isn't something I'd typically go far but it had just the right amount of salt and crisp with a tender fish inside. The last dish was the pork chop with honey garlic sauce. It was essentially a mountain of meat covered in a sweet, sticky glaze. I'm pretty sure this is a classic dish and although it was good, it was too sweet for me so I kept having to reach for something salty to counteract it. There's plenty of seating here and free parking in a structure nearby. The food is good but the wait was not. It wasn't that packed but we waited over 30 minutes to get our food which wasn't fun.

Jason Y.

Yelp
The food and quality are above par, but as a person who always does take out here, I will caution everyone to make sure you double the amount of time it says or they say it will take. My goto orders here: The wonton lo-mein and crispy garlic fried rice. The portions are more than fair and you're going to be full.

Yelp
My sister really wanted us to try this place. I recall ordering door dash at the start of the pandemic but never ate at the restaurant until now. They are in a prime location central downtown Alhambra right next to the public parking garage! They are very reasonably priced and offer so many great deals in store and on delivery apps! Food is decent, not the best but also not the worst. They would've gotten 3 stars for the overall experience with food taste, quality, service, etc. But I added an extra star because they accommodated our party of 7 1hr before closing. I deducted stars for the food. 1. Beef chow fun - standard good. 2. Sweet n sour pork - good flavors, onion was still raw so very potent. 3. Honey walnut shrimp - shrimp was good, too much mayo, but that wasn't the issue. Walnuts were kinda stale, no crunch. 4. Braised pork belly special - pork belly was good, flavorful and tender, served on a bed of broccoli. 5. Beijing pork chop - this was probably our favorite, very crispy and tasty. 6. Salty spicy calamari - this was fine, standard. 7. Dried scallop tofu - this was the reason for the full star deduction. Although the dish tasted great and tofu was perfectly fried, there was NO scallop! Plenty of mushrooms but absolutely no scallop at all... WTF!! evening specials, you can get drinks for $2.50/ea with purchase of entree. Some drinks included refills!! I would absolutely come back only because this place offers great deals for decent food.

Good portions, good food, and efficient staff! This restaurant is typically packed. They have a lot of tables. The place is always clean when I visit. Park in the free parking structure nearby.

Yelp
4.5 stars Decided to have brunch w/ mom this morning. I was pretty impressed with service and food! The servers are all seasoned professionals who are quick...very quick. This time, I decided to order the Singapore Style Chow Fun ($11.99) and mom got their Signature Beef Sandwich and both were very good. If you like the taste of curry and noodles, this is the dish to get. But this restaurant served it slightly differently - it had luncheon meat in it instead of char siu...and I'm not entirely sure if it's just a creative twist for this restaurant or if they ran out of char siu. Anyways, it was still good. The Beef Sandwich was surprisingly delicious, but I think my mom and I just didn't have any expectations of it which is probably why we liked it so much. It had sauteed beef and bean sprouts, pickled radish, mayo, and came with fries. And for breakfast, it came with complimentary hot coffee or hot milk tea (w/ refills). For $10.99, you can't get a better deal anywhere nowadays. I highly recommend getting this. So, we came in around 10am and, by 10:11am, the restaurant was packed! So, definitely get here early on the weekend. As far as service is concerned, it's definitely 10/10. I think there were 4 servers total and a host/server and every single one of them was quick to help customers. There wasn't any "oh, let me get your server" or "wait a minute". It was a quick "yes" and a prompt follow-through. I thought they did a really good job. I will have to come back for lunch/dinner to see how consistent the service is. But, overall, I really enjoyed my time here. Free parking in parking structure behind the restaurant or free street parking available.

Yelp
I was here 4 times already since the past 3 months per recommendation from my friend. She told me the price, quantity and quality are reasonable and it opened a few years ago. We ordered our favorites, beef chow fun, salt and pepper shrimp, French style beef, steamed Tilapia, pork chop with honey&garlic, clam, Crystal chicken, string bean, mapo tofu, etc. The drinks came with each order only 2.50. The service and serving time were excellent. All in all, it's worth for the time and money. Weekend usually is crowded than weekday. It's not a fancy place but cozy, relaxed and pleasant. Come join us!

Yelp
Spicy Egg plant and Singapore noodles are super good and the only dishes I must have whenever I visit this restaurant. Best customer service in that area.

Yelp
I went to get some takeout here today: pan fried sole, salt and pepper squid and shredded pork chow mein. The sole was crunchy but a bit small. The salt and pepper squid was most delicious especially if reheated in air fryer. The noodles of pork chow mein was fried but looks crunchy and free of grease. I poured some sauce on the noodles and the taste was good. The pork was velvetized so soft it melted in my mouth. I like the sauce but the pork slices are a little big sometimes. Today's takeout satisfied my craving for Hong Kong food.

Yelp
This Thursday was my third visit to The Bay Cafe for lunch. My co-worker has brought me to all three visits and I love this place. Their prices are great and you get a lot of food, so much so that I had to get a take out container on all my visits. I have ordered the Hong Kong Style Beef Chow Fun with Chicken CM1 $13.50 twice and the Singapore Style Pan Fried Vermicelli CM9 $13.50 once. The food has been excellent and the flavors and tenderness of the chicken as well as the juicy succulent shrimp in the Singapore Vermicelli was great. Our orders have come out pretty quickly and we have ordered a ice lemon tea on all your visits. The tea is sweet but not too sweet. I look forward to trying their other dishes, soups and sandwiches. The service has been great as well. Thanks Bay Cafe.

Yelp
I typically don't update my reviews so soon, but after my visit last Friday, I feel compelled to share and update my ratings. The service was simply unacceptable. Arriving at 11:30AM, we were promptly seated in a restaurant that was only two-thirds full, hardly bustling. However, our server, someone I hadn't encountered before, was difficult to understand, mumbling through our order. Despite requesting two cups of water, one with ice and one without, he repeatedly misunderstood and eventually we settled for both without ice. This lunch was intended as a catch-up with a friend, their first time at the restaurant upon my recommendation. As we chatted, we realized an alarming amount of time had passed. Our server returned, sheepishly admitting he had forgotten our order entirely. How does one forget in such a not busy restaurant? When our food finally arrived, a mishap occurred, resulting in hot food spilling onto my friend's hand. Despite apologies, no discount or gesture was made for the inconvenience. I was mortified to have recommended this experience to my friend. Though I hesitated to speak to the manager, not wanting to dampen our lunch further, the service left much to be desired.

Yelp
Always coming here with my parents. We always order the beef satay with vermicelli noodles as it's hands down one of the best. Drinks: jasmine milk tea for $2.50 for small! This small is pretty big compared to regular boba cup Service: they take your order fast & seat you down immediately Ambiance: perfect. A lot of elders and big families getting together to eat

Yelp
I had a really bad experience this time . I originally planned to order takeout, saw the menu from the yelp, and ordered three dishes. The original price was supposed to be $10.99, but when I got there, it turned into over $2 for each fish. I only found out when I arrived that the lunch specials are only available for dine-in, and if you order takeout, each dish costs additional. Plus, there's a $3 packaging fee. I definitely do not recommend this place. The portion size was also small, and the fish was tiny.

Yelp
Came for dinner and the place while wasn't fully packed with lines, there was a steady flow of people dining and going. Nonetheless, it wasn't hard to get a table and service was a bit out of there, but quick. When you flag someone for help, they do it quickly so a norm for Chinese restaurants in my opinion and not a negative. There is a public parking lot nearby so it's pretty convenient to dine in the area as well.  We came for a family dinner and in total, we had half ac hicken (yellow), wet scrambled eggs with shrimp, seafood tofu claypot, peking pork chops, and French-style beef stir fry. We ordered their HK style milk tea which we pretty much liked. It had a nice bitter taste to it and the taste was quite smooth as well. Worth a try for their HK style milk tea. For their food, I think I liked the Peking pork chop the most out of everything. Freshly made, it had a good mix of meat-solo pieces as well as bone pieces, and the sauce was pretty delectable - sour, sweet, and salty. The meat was tenderized nicely so it wasn't chewy, but not overly tenderized that makes you feel like you are eating fake meat. Nicely executed on the pork chops and would come again for it again for sure. The second best was the seafood tofu claypot as the fried tofu inside it was nicely done. Decent customary additions of seafood (shrimp, white tilapia, and squid), thinly sliced carrots, and salty slurry - nicely made overall. The average item for me were the chicken and the wet scrambled eggs with shrimp. Customary items to get when dining out and they weren't bad, but they were just about the same everywhere else. The egg they had was "wet", but it was cooked with too high of a heat so its appearance was affected. A tad saltier than I want it to be, but oh well. Still a nice solid item to have when dining out. Lastly, the French-style beef cube stir fry was kind of the worse. The beef was a bit overly tenderized in that it does make you think it's fake meat and hard to say it amounted to anything flavor-wise. It didn't have a good strong beef flavor and the taste was just a bit bland-ish aside from the salty flavors. So, not really a solid pick from here.  All in all, decent food based on what we chose to eat. I wouldn't mind coming back again just for the peking pork chops, because they were just that nice. I saw several other items that people were dining on and they looked quite appealing as well. So, worth a try to formulate your own opinions! Even if it's not what you like, at least you aren't breaking the bank to give them a try! Their price-point is pretty decent for their quantity so for sure not a bad thing! Awww

Yelp
Food: decent, good Portions: Big Price: fair Service: decent for a Chinese restaurant lol Atmosphere: simple Came in today for a quick bite. Generally I come here for the other food, but need to go soon. Ordered the beef wonton noodle soup. It's not good. Wontons are hard and chewy. Noodles are chewy as well. Flavor is not tasty. I would not suggest it. There are much better wonton noodle place. They're other foods are ok.

Yelp
Wanted to try out this place for quite sometimes but didn't get a chance until yesterday after breakfast debates with my friend. The menu at the front desk appears to be reasonable so we decided to give it a try. No one greet us, so we walked in and asked the waitress if we are to seat ourselves to which she said yes. That was actually a sign of service concern already. It was early and not that busy, yet we had to ask for the menu while other guests coming after us got their menu. We ordered our drinks and foods in anticipation of the wait and sure enough we didn't get our hot tea or coffee while the other guests got theirs; when clearly they ordered after us. Our buns came first with no drinks so We had to ask on two separate requests for our drinks. In a mean time, the pineapple buns were room temperature and they are not even hot with crispy topping; but chewy and cold. The atmosphere there felt cold and gloomy- adding bad service makes the food tasted less enjoyable. So at the end, we told the waitress about the buns situation showing partially bitten only and she just looked at us like we are from another planet or something. Overall, food was ok but service killed the foods. Guess I should check the rating first.

Yelp
This is one of the typical spots where we would come here for a quick family meal. Food is not always consistent but it's easy and very affordable. Service is fast and interactions are brief. Typical Chinese restaurants but we like that. The coffee/milk tea is our favorite with huge portion. It's refillable.

Yelp
Feels like typical Hong Kong style restaurant. Place gets loud when full. Food is great, and price is very reasonable. Pork chop with honey garlic is very crisp with honey sauce. Service is good, and our food came fast. Free parking structure is available next to the restaurant. We came early for lunch, and there are empty seats, but when we are done, place is full and need to wait for seats.

Yelp
I ordered seafood tofu for my lunch today, I'm taking to-go orders quite often here, but I noticed that most of their tofu tastes sour today, not fresh enough compared with other restaurants, I like seafood tofu so order this a lot in many different restaurants, the bay cafe has the worst in among. For the lunch special, there are many choices nearby for me, why I ordered something not delicious even make me feel bad? I have pretty sensitive stomach, hope it won't feel upset later. I ended up thrown most of the Tofu away, and just took some Swai fillet, I may need to get some snack before my dinner today. looks I have to avoid this restaurant for a while.

Yelp
The food is obviously made fairly fresh. And the food wasn't bad, but it's really inexpensive so they seem to rely heavily on fats and salt. The mapo tofu wasn't near spicy and in a bland sauce - so the leftovers got a bit of hot chili sauce at home and was acceptable. One of us got a shrimp noodle dish, and there was pretty much nothing else. She took hers home and added some veggies and some peppers and it became edible. Overall, the food is pretty basic, but with the low prices, it makes sense. We went during the New Year festival and service sucked. Couldn't get anyone to take our order, other tables got their food long before we did, and initial dishes came out wrong. But they were seriously overrun that day, so it's possible their service is usually better. But the food wasn't worth another try for us. The interior is functional, and they have an outside waiting area.

Yelp
Review for PICK UP ONLY Every time I pick up here, I am waiting 10-15 minutes. Pick up time is always long and I can never figure out why. My suggestion is dine in!

Yelp
I went on a Saturday to try out their Hong Kong style breakfast. Prices are fairly cheaper than other same style cafes in the area. But the food was not as good as expected in terms of size, taste and the way of doing. Sandwich wasn't done the way it used to be, porridge was a little salty. My rating was 6 to 7 out of 10. I believe they could do better.

Yelp
I came here for lunch and ordered the Pork chop with salt and pepper ($9.99) and pork belly with chili's ($10.99). It came with steamed rice and you can choose to add on a drink for $2.50 more. Their classic drinks come in a large 36 oz and include drinks like soda, iced tea, Hong Kong style milk tea and coffees, etc. You can also choose from the specialty drinks which are served in 26 oz cups and include a variety of flavored milk teas. I was here around 4 pm on a Wednesday, so there weren't too many people dining in, but their togo order line was ringing pretty regularly. The ambiance isn't the greatest with the dim lighting, and loud background noise, but it was spacious with comfortable seating. I enjoyed my meal and thought the food was well cooked. The Hokkaido Milk Tea was sweet and milky, like it should be. I know there are many food choices in this area, but if you're looking for cheap Chinese choices that comes with a great price on a drink, then this is a great deal.

Yelp
Bay Cafe is decent for fast Chinese food with a variety of options. I have good variety and decent quality. I've tried several dishes including their fish fillet and broccoli stir fry, mapo tofu, black bean stir fry beef, and kung pao chicken, cumin lamb stir fry, and others. Overall the dishes are not bad. Only qualm about the dishes are that they are quite salty. I'm always pretty parched after eating here. You need to drink water or eat the dishes with rice because of how much salt/msg they use. It seemed to be this way across all their dishes. The one dish that wasn't as salty was their mapo tofu which was my favorite. Usually I love fish fillet, but even that was a bit too salty for my tastes. The have deals on their food before 6pm ($10 per dish). We usually try to come before 6pm for dinners to get this deal. It also comes with a drink for $2.50. Drinks are pretty good. I got their passion fruit green tea and hokkaido milk tea. They are refreshing and not overly sweet. Had good flavor and not watered down either. Drinks were definitely enjoyable and cheap when it comes with the meal. Service was really fast. Some complain about the service but I found that the waiters were incredibly fast especially for how few of them there were and what they all needed to do. The were manning the front desk, taking phone orders, seating people, taking orders, busing tables, serving dishes, pushing out doordash and delivery orders, and more! My goodness, they were doing so much. I'm surprised they were able to get our orders to us so fast with how much they were doing. I'm quite impressed with their service. I'll definitely be back here again! Some people complained they had bad service, but honestly, what true authentic chinese restaurant has good service? Don't go to Chinese restaurants for a 5 star dining experience. Go for authentic delicious cheap Chinese food.

Yelp
A classic, no-frills HK/Chinese cafe spot with huge family style portions for about $10-12 per item. The food is tasty, but a little oily and salty. Coffee milk teas were poured in cups bigger than our heads for an extra $2.50 with food! DISHES ORDERED - HK Style Beef Chow Fun. Chewy flat noodles tossed with a generous amount of meat and bean sprouts. - Sauteed Snow Pea Leaves (da dou miao) with Garlic. Tasty, simple stir fry with salt and garlic. - Fried Fish Fillet. Crispy batter, tender fish. The garlic and green onion was a nice touch, but there was too much salt. - Salt and Pepper Mixed Mushroom. Fried assorted mushrooms, also a bit salty. - Seafood Tofu Hot Pot. Mixed seafood and vegetables cooked in a clay pot. The brown sauce had a pleasant savory taste, and tofu was soft inside. The pieces of fish were tender, but the overcooked squid was chewy and tough.

Yelp
Hands down the best service you will EVER get at a Chinese restaurant. The food is very decent and a great price compared to other restaurants. The Cantonese dishes are average in size but the taste is on par with other restaurants. I like that everything isn't overly salted. We usually go for the fried fish, green beans, fish with broccoli, sweet and sour pork, and the deep fried pumpkin with salted egg. My husband gets the refillable lemon ice tea. Have you ever been to a restaurant that refills without you having to ask and offers to fill it up as you leave the restaurant??? This is it. The service is what shines at this restaurant. The servers are efficient, VERY polite and go above and beyond. The restaurant is clean and modern. It's eons ahead of its counterpart in Rosemead -yuck! To top it off....80s station no commercials!

Yelp
Taste: 3.5/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Price: 3/5 If you are looking for solid Chinese food, I think The Bay Cafe is decent option. I came during dinner time so everything was priced in the range of $12-$15 per dish, which is a bit pricey in my opinion. I would recommend coming during lunch and order off of their lunch special menu. One of the reasons I like coming to The Bay Cafe or its sibling restaurants like Bay Island Cafe, is that when you order an entree, you can get a drink for $2.50, which is a great deal. Normally when I come here with my family, we would all order 3-4 dishes to share family style and the rice is unlimited refill. I think getting a couple dishes and sharing family style with their lunch special prices would warrant at least 3.5 stars, but if you are ordering individual dishes, I don't think it is as value. I ordered curry beef in stone pot this time around and I thought it was pretty decent. I wish that there were more potatoes in the curry and less bell pepper, but the overall taste of the curry was not bad. As for the beef, there is more beef tendon pieces. For the drink I got fresh milk tea, which is not bad for its price, but don't expect high quality tea. The service was pretty standard for these types of restaurant; nothing special and nothing bad. Overall, I would recommend coming for lunch and ordering a few dishes and eat family style.

Yelp
Amazing food, service and ambiance! Staff are super polite, attentive, helpful, friendly and efficient. They deserve a pay raise by the owner for working so hard for the busy dine-in and to-go orders. The price for the drinks is unbeatable too. All the food is great and delicious. It's my favorite restaurant.

Yelp
Food is typical Cantonese style dishes. Their choices of drinks were good, and the small size drink were actually big!

Yelp
My fav is the 9:30am to 9:30pm all-day entree $10.99 special with $2.50++ drink upgrades. Some entrees are listed higher than others but the standard starts at $10.99++. Customer service is good but food quality has gone down recently. I wish they would be open earlier cause I remember the great breakfast selections that were offered.

Yelp
This place now has a dinner special. There are many choices and all come with generous portions. The service is attentive and the servers are all very nice. I love the black sesame milk tea. It was tasty and only $2.50 if you order anything from the menu. I will go back to try other dishes.

Yelp
Came here on Sunday during a very busy event, the 626 golden streets. Party of 9 and we got seated right away. Hong Kong family style as this is exactly what we needed because we had 2 kids who love rice and noodles! This place has fast service and good food. We tried about 10 different items. Oh how I have missed family style restaurants! Surprisingly my favorite was the baked bolognese and cheese French fries 5/5, crispy fries with bolognese = delicious! I loved the HK milk tea and it comes with free refills!
