The Bay Tree Restaurant

This is not fine dining. Sat in a chair that was stained. Then forgotten by the waitress, no water offered. Our starters were fine, that's it. Monkfish goyjouns were tasty but presented like a 1970s hotel with a jar of sauce and a bit of lettuce. My girlfriend had the mussels which were really tasty. The mains were a different story. I ordered steak with pepper sauce, rare. At 39 euros I expected this to be some steak. It was medium to well done and the pepper sauce was just gravy. My girlfriend had chicken which was bland and boring. Thr gratin potato was reheated as it was hotter than the sun. We had several different waiters and waitress so even if we wanted to complain there and then what's the point. The place had two large parties and seem to be catering for hens more than couples. I really cannot believe how this has a 4.6 ratings on Google. We ate in the pub down the road PJs and we're treated better and ate better for half the money. This place is a ripoff. Avoid

We booked the Bay Tree for my sister's hen party dinner. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. We had the private room at the back which was just perfect, and allowed our group to enjoy each other's company without feeling like we were bothering other customers. The food was also beautiful. Most definitely recommend!

Absolutely tasty food. Great service and warm atmosphere and cozy interior. There is beautiful masterpieces on the wall, by Irish artists, you could by if desires. We e spend lovely time in this restaurant and had unforgivable dinner. Thanks❤️

This place is a little gem! The rooms are basic but you couldn’t ask for more for the price, and location is spot on. Beds are super comfortable and it has a very homely feel. The owner, Conor, and Liz who checked us in, were both extremely warm, chatty and accommodating! We could have stayed forever on the roof terrace in the sun, sampling the delicious cocktails. We didn’t try the food but menu looked divine. The only slight downfalls were that the walls are paper thin so we were woke up in the early hours by a few merry guests in the corridor (Conor did make every attempt to settle them into their rooms), and the waiting staff appeared grumpy and like they’d rather be anywhere else, when taking orders and serving drinks. However, all in all it was a brilliant stay and we look forward to returning!

Exceptional restaurant. If you are a big foodie, then this will not disappoint! A smaller menu than most but each and every dish is exquisitely prepared, cooked and prepared. Flavour is packed into every element. Nice relaxed surroundings, great service, no negatives. This one gets full marks. Really excellent and located in beautiful Carlingford.

Myself and my girlfriend went here for a birthday meal and the food was out of this world. Certainly one of the the top restaurants I've ever been to and would highly recommend anyone to dine here. Service was quick and staff were all very friendly and chatty. First class restaurant.

The rooms were fine but the food at the restaurant was outstanding...both dinner and breakfast ! Really great place to stop, eat, stay. In lovely location too, we did the walk round the mountain and it was just great. Highly recommend.
