"Aircraft carriers are very large. While that’s both obvious and seemingly irrelevant, it’s worth mentioning here because it explains how this outdoor bar at the West Harlem Piers has 4,000 square feet of outdoor space spread across multiple decks. With views of the west side of Manhattan, Jersey, and the Hudson River up to the GW Bridge, it’s a great spot to day drink well into the evening. But make sure to try some bar food while you’re here, especially the peppery, charred $14 cheeseburger, and some crinkle-cut fries." - the curious uptowner, sonal shah
"The Deal: $11 cocktails; $6 beer; $8 wine; $25 beer/seltzer buckets; $11 snacks The bad news: Happy hour ends at 5pm. The good news: It’s on a boat. This former navy vessel parked on the Hudson River near 130th Street has plenty of deck space where you can drink a frozen piña colada and enjoy a view of New Jersey." - bryan kim, kenny yang
"The Baylander in Harlem isn’t a boat. It’s a former navy vessel. And you can drink alcohol and eat burgers on it. It’s a very large, pleasant place to catch a breeze, and it never gets too busy. (Probably because it’s not a boat, but a navy vessel.) While you drink a margarita, stare at New Jersey and see how much traffic there is on the George Washington Bridge. Or, if you’re lucky enough to have a summer birthday, celebrate it here and eat the signature giant pretzel." - willa moore, bryan kim, neha talreja, matt tervooren, molly fitzpatrick
"A former navy vessel docked at the West Harlem Piers near 125th Street, The Baylander is a supremely pleasant place to catch a breeze and drink a margarita. Even on weekends it doesn’t seem to get too busy, and there’s plenty of room for big groups across the multiple decks. Have a summer birthday here, and eat a burger." - bryan kim
