I was beat down and bone tired from work on a Friday, it was dinner time and the cupboard was bare. I remembered seeing Facebook posts from friends about how much they enjoyed their meals here so we dragged ourselves out to the car check out the BBQ Boutique. It was a great decision because the night was about to turn around for the better.
The BBQ Boutique is a family owned Brazilian BBQ restaurant in the Marketplace at Hillsboro in Coconut Creek. Owner and executive chef, J De Moura, was born in Brazil and came to the U.S. in 2005. His Portuguese background and passion for cooking from a young age inspired him to create a BBQ restaurant that blended Texas fusion and churrasco. He chose to open it in Coconut Creek where he calls home. The business tagline is "Where people come to meat".
The Boutique in the name refers to the fact that they are not just a restaurant. They are a butcher shop meat market where they dry age meat for 45 days as well as offer high quality cuts of angus, pork poultry, game, prime, angus, and wagyu grades. They also have a retail store selling hand made knives, wine, personalized aprons, natural wood cutting boards, salt, seasonings, oils, sauces, pasta from Italy, soy sauce from Japan, condiments, and dressings from all over the world.
On the restaurant side you order at the counter and they call you up by number when your meal is ready. They specializes in BBQ bowls. You can choose their signature bowls or create your own with a base, protein, and toppings. Meat choices include brisket, pulled pork, picanha, sirloin, smoked kielbasa, and chicken. The All-American bowl features smokehouse macaroni and cheese, smoked brisket, smoked pulled pork, pinto beans, and pickled red onions. The Gaucho bowl includes cilantro lime rice, black beans, picanha, vinaigrette salad, radish potato salad, farofa, and potato sticks. Whether you choose one of their signature bowls or create your own you will be served a tasty, fresh, farm to table bowl.
For our meal we chose the Aloha bowl with cilantro lime rice, smoked pulled pork, corn salsa, jack cheese, shredded lettuce, and grilled pineapple with house creme and the Down South bowl with cilantro lime brown rice, pinto beans, adobo chicken, house pico, corn salsa, pickled red onion, shredded lettuce, and jack cheese. The flavor of the bowls were incredible. The lettuce added crunch, the corn added sweetness, and there was the spice of the meat. It was a tasty combination. You didn't even need to add any additional sauce to the meat. I especially loved how healthy it was. A nice touch is they give you real silverware to enjoy your meal with. We also tried a Guarana Antarctica, a delicious Brazilian soda that tasted like an apple ginger-ale. I didn't have room for dessert but they had some great looking cheesecakes in the cooler. They also had craft beer from Funky Budha and my favorite Single in Havana from Barrel of Monks.
Come out and support this family owned business from a hometown chef. You will be delighted by the value, flavor, and variety of their food. Not to mention the one of a kind products from around the world. Coconut Creek is lucky to have such a unique business open up. I plan on being a long time customer. Welcome to the neighborhood BBQ Boutique!
