The Beancounter Coffeehouse & Drinkery

I’ve been here multiple times while visiting family. It has always been a great place for brekkie and brunch. The food is excellent and the coffee is great too. Pet friendly place.

The Beancounter has always been a favorite in our family. They have now catered two events for us… and I can only imagine there will be more in our future! :) It’s always been an excellent spot for a coffee, snack, adult beverage, or a delicious meal, or a sweet treat. They even love dogs as much as I do… and that’s A LOT. I could never say enough good things about this business, the way it’s ran, and the wonderful people who run it. You won’t be disappointed if you get the chance to stop in. Especially if you snag a banana bar ;)

Such a great place! The store is super cute and full of pictures of cute pups! They have a huge menu and everything looks so amazing! I got a sugar free brown sugar cinnamon iced latte....it was absolutely delicious! The baked goods looked wonderful but I'm not sure any of them were sugar free. Still....the place was amazing! The lady working the front was super friendly and helpful too!

The best coffee shop in Burlington. Had the S’mores cold brew and my partner tried the Pistachio latte. The s’mores brew was so satisfying! Definitely a sweet treat with some caffeine. The pistachio latte had the strongest pistachio flavor I have ever had in a latte. The açaí bowl and egg avocado toast were also top notch. The egg avocado toast came with a generous amount of fruit (and good fruit too!). The açaí bowl had so much peanut butter and so much fruit. Such healthy and good meals. They also donate a portion of their coffee sales to dogs in need! Such a great small business. Go support them! I’ll definitely be back!

Never sure about a coffee shop that isn't just a purist "roast their own" kind of place, but Beancounter did NOT disappoint. Ordered a plain cap. Perfectly smooth coffee. No bitterness at all. Hospitality was excellent. Great atmosphere. Oh and the treats. I held strong but you gotta have willpower bc they look amazing and they are all homemade. Go try them out. You won't be disappointed. Also, their roaster is awesome.

Very kitschy, local cafe with cozy couches and friendly staff in downtown Burlington. We were in town visiting a friend and spent an hour here relaxing. The food looked really good but we just ordered drinks and a very expensive cookie, which were all just ok. They also had a lot of cute dog items for sale like pet bowls and accessories so it's part pet store which is unexpected but fun.

We went there for the first time the other day. Ordered 2 peach smoothies. We weren't told that bananas go into every smoothie until after we paid for them. Customers should be told that incase of allergies. I hate bananas and it hardly had any peach flavor to it. Both were thrown into the garbage. Not impressed at all.

What an AMAZING coffee shop! The coffee and sweet treats are something we will think about on our LONG drive back to Toledo, Ohio. Love that this coffee shop gives back to DOGS through various organizations as well! Wish I could give this coffee shop TEN stars! If you are in West Burlington Iowa be sure to stop there!

Review Visit: August 14th, 2017 All I have to say is... half-pound cookies. No, I do have a bit more to say than that. I've been to Burlington a handful of times and since my last visit, this cozy of a place must've opened for business... and what a treat for Burlington it is. First off, they have half-pound cookies that are delicious. In the featured image, you can see a snickerdoodle cookie and it is as delicious as it looks. I ordered a iced caramel latte to go with it and together, it was a perfect combination. They had quite a few different flavors to choose from and the chocolate chip was a close second. As typical with more coffeehouses/cafes, they have a small food menu with some delicious-sounding eats. What the Beanhouse brings to the table is they also serve alcohol. Nothing hard or crazy but if you want an afternoon beer with some half-pound cookies, then this is the place for you. For the Beancounter being fairly new, the interior tied together great and it was bright and welcoming. The lady working the counter was also really friendly and chatted us up a bit as we did the awkward 'first time here so we are looking around' thing. If you are in the area, this is a great place to stop. Grab yourself a beer/coffee, some food and a half-pound cookie or two!

It was so fun bringing my 6 month old daughter here and letting her taste some stuff. The food options are incredibly flavorful, unique, and healthy (some of them anyway lol). The coffee of course is quite good too and they have LOTS of options. The atmosphere is very cool too. Kinda feels like you're at your wealthy friend's house. It is expensive, but well worth it for the experience.

We ordered a kicked up grilled cheese and with no vegetables or meat. Just the cheese and we came back home and there was bacon and the side was chips and they didn't even give me a lot and it wasn't full. We went back to tell them about the food and they made it but it was a smaller sandwich with just American cheese and not all four cheeses and it was a waste of the money for something we could make at home. Thinking about never going here again because we went there twice just for them both to be made wrong

Farm to table fresh food & great vegan alternatives. Great ambience. Great service. Great location. Somewhat pricey. But will be back when in the area.

Delicious coffee and supreme egg salad sandwich. The quiche was super too! I highly recommend this place if you are going through Burlington. Lots to see and do in this establishment. Don't forget to stop by the snake street and mosquito park.

Jailyn was absolutely amazing! Her customer service was perfect and she was so patient with our order. We bought so many gifts for our sister. The coffee is amazing, and the pumpkin "bar" taste delicious. We will definitely be coming back!

I am so happy I found this place. I was in Burlington for three days and I ate lunch at Beancounter all three days. The food was fresh and delicious. The staff was very welcoming and professional. The location was clean. I enjoyed eating outside in the area they have out front. The decorum of the coffeehouse is dog friendly and artistic. I do not drink coffee so I cannot comment on how good their coffee is. However, I had an herbal tea, and it was delicious. If I am back in Burlington I am heading to Beancounter.

If they don't want to post the prices, I guess they don't want poor people like me in the restaurant anyway.

The Beancounter was recommended to me by a co-worker, as I was staying in Burlington for a business trip. It was an absolute godsend. I am a vegan and finding a quick vegan-friendly lunch option downtown was quite a challenge. My go to order for the week became a everything bagel sandwich, a vegan protein bar (sourced from a local farm supplier), and an organic lemon ginger hot tea. I never had to wait long for my order and everyone who worked there was very kind. The food was nothing fancy, but it was good, and a relatively healthy option (sides included salad or fruit, in addition to some other choices). I never had a chance to sit down and enjoy the place, but it is quite large inside, with lots of different places to sit. It reminds me of some of my favorite coffee houses from when I was in college: a great place to sit, study, maybe meet some new friends, and people watch. I would highly recommend the Beancounter to those looking for a nice coffee break/lunch break.

Went in to get a cup of coffee. It was nothing special you can tell that they used tap water for their coffee by the film on top of the coffee.$4.65 for a 16 oz cup of coffee. We'll never go back there again that was way totally ridiculous!!

Great place to grab a delicious, healthy and filling breakfast or lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff. Love the outside seating as well.

I'm always on the lookout for a local coffee house at whatever city I happen to be in. And I found a great one! Have been here twice in the last couple weeks, had lunch and a seasonal coffee and it was excellent both times. This is definitely now my go-to spot whenever I'm in Burlington, Iowa.

Very nice place to sit and relax with some coffee and a snack/light lunch. All of their bakery items are home made and delicious.

We loved everything about our visit. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich and fresh fruit, along with a chai tea latte. The sandwich was absolutely delicious and very filling and the fresh fruit was just that...very fresh. My chai tea latte was perfect as well. This wasn't my first visit and won't be my last.

Wow, what a hidden gem. My wife had a Grilled Chicken Wrap and I had a Asian Chicken Salad. Great portions and the tastes are even better. Will be back definitely.

Really enjoyed this cute spot for lunch. Sat outside and had great service and great quality food. I had the veggie sandwich on a croissant and 2 desserts. I couldn't decide. The veggies were fresh and crispy and the combo hummus and avocado was delicious. I also had a blueberry lemonade that was not to sweet not to tart. Next time I'm in town I'll definitely be back!!

This place has an amazing atmosphere, I just love it! Handcrafted drinks, authentic food, heartwarming service, and live music!

Food was excellent, the ladies operating the place were very friendly. The manager came out a couple times to check that everything was going well. Highly recommend this place. If I lived here I would visit this place very often.

Very nice repurposed old building. Friendly service. Blueberry pound ale to die for. Vanilla latte was perfect for the chilly day.

Charming coffee shop that has so much more to offer than just a delicious cappuccino! They have smoothies, pour over coffee, frappes, healthy lunch options, and an in-house pastry chef that makes a variety of treats. Try the cookie dough brownie! I also had a coconut latte made with almond milk. I love that they have a non-dairy option. Definitely a relaxing experience in downtown Burlington. Perfect place to take a friend for a chat or come alone to read and work. The icing on the cake is that they use fair trade organic beans and a percentage of the coffee proceeds (and cute merchandise) goes to animal rescue organizations in the area. As an animal lover this is a HUGE plus!

Sunday's in Burlington are pretty sleepy so finding a place that is open is always a challenge u less you want to go to a chain restaurant. My husband and I were excited to run into this quaint little coffee shop! The service was excellent and they have some great choices for pastries as well as hot dishes. What a find! I hope when I come back to visit it is still here to enjoy!

I walked in one snowy day for a sandwich for lunch. The owner was sacking up lunches to go. She told me I would have to wait an hour to get served because they were busy with to go orders. Hmmm...I was there in person but could not get a sandwich for a hour!!!! Bad customer service!!!! I left and was very disappointed.

Bean counter is the best café in Burlington. While the actual quality of the coffee is nothing special, it is acceptable and will hit the spot if you're looking for a decent cup of Joe. The real allure of the Beancounter is its atmosphere and food. Unlike Starbucks has dynamic seating where you can have a private business meeting, chill with your friends, work on a project, or even bring your family. It is a very special place. Their food is delicious and well prepared and their bakery section is ALL HOMEMADE and delicious. Also their latte menu is expansive and, if you like that kind of thing, you will love it. It really sets it apart in the Burlington area.

Great atmosphere, even better baristas, and wonderful coffee and chai. Nice to have a coffee shop near Maharishi Vedic City and those that work in offices north of Fairfield. The cafe is located inside a large office block right off Highway 1 north of Fairfield. The owner has a real passion for good coffee.

Love this little place! Seeing it from the outside is a little misleading as you can't tell how big and charming it is inside by how it looks outside. We have never had anything bad here to eat or drink! Great quality food and we have traveled all over the US and lived in big cities. This is def one of our new go-to spots and we would highly recommend trying them out!

Me and my sister, came from Oregon to visit my brother in Burlington. I did a google search for coffee, and decided to check out Beancounter Coffeehouse. We were so glad we did. What wonderful baked goods, coffee and the owner and the employees that work there are Great. Going to miss this charming place when leaving for home.

Found this wonderful coffee shop on our way through town. Great space compared to most other tiny shops. This one has a lot of room and variety. Will make sure to stop in the next time through town.

We are here visiting from Milwaukee and we wish this place was back home. Very nice atmosphere and the Carmel mocha was great! The coffee beans they sell benefits homeless dogs. We will be back every time we are in town.

Adorable little coffee shop! The turkey bacon avocado panini was absolutely amazing!! Pumpkin bar was soft & tasty! Service was exceptional! Will definitely be back!!!
