The Bear Inn Hodnet

This is one of the best places I have eaten in a long, long time. Incredible food, superb staff, good beers and a wonderful atmosphere. The staff went above and beyond in looking after us (it was a special birthday) and it represented excellent value for money considering every dish went above and beyond our expectations. Highly recommended!

This has to be the best place to eat and sleep we have ever been to. The pub is beautifully decorated as was our gorgeous room, Sycamore. Scott looked after us at dinner and had only worked there for 2 weeks, he was so warm, welcoming and professional, nothing was too much trouble and catering for my non-dairy diet was very much appreciated! The food is nothing short of spectacular, hard to decided between so many impressive dishes, we cannot wait to visit again, the most perfect pub with Michelin star standard food included! Thank you for creating such a special place which we love!!

Had an amazing meal at The Bear last night. Couldn't fault a single thing. Beautiful decor, great atmosphere, attentive service, best monkfish I have ever eaten and extremely good value for money. Highly recommended.

Couldn’t have been better, I’m gluten and dairy free and they did a full menu I could choose from with lots of choice, the best experience I’ve had at a restaurant. The food was delicious, a fantastic and really reasonable wine menu and lovely location a surroundings! We keep having to find excuses to come back!

What an absolute treat! From the moment we arrived, the staff at The Bear made us feel welcome and looked after - they are attentive and intuitive, responsive and informed....we asked advice on choice of starter - I really couldn't decide between pigeon and crab, but the cauliflower came so highly recommended that I changed my mind completely - When I say 'the cauliflower ', don't be misled into thinking that it's just cauliflower croquet...oh no, this is The Bear - every single mouthful brought a new flavour combination...an amazing start to a fabulous meal which is the best quality, adventurous yet nostalgic and comforting. Nothing is less than exquisite here - I went on to have the Ox cheek, which falls apart to perfection and the Pain Perdu with orange and pistachio. Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong - I can't recommend it highly enough.

We were visiting family near Hodnet and had a one night stay in The Bear Inn, it was just wonderful. Beautifully decorated well appointed room, gorgeous toiletries, super comfy bed and extremely quiet. The breakfast was outstanding too, lots of choices and all perfectly cooked. There was nothing we disliked about our stay, and the very warm and friendly welcome from the lovely staff ensures that we will definitely be returning!

Absolutely amazing. We had stayed the previous 2 endings at a high class hotel. The Bear was half the price and twice as good. The chefs are superb and the staff are excellent. We cannot wait to go back. X

I spend an evening at the inn more than a year ago while on vacation, because I wanted to stay near Hawkstone Park (which I also highly recommend!). The room was wonderful and the food was fantastic. Terrific service all around! I also walked a bit through the town and it was very picturesque. If passing through again, I would absolutely stay here.
