We stayed at the Beeman Hotel on New Year’s Eve with our two kids because we wanted to ring in the new year together - enjoy a nice dinner, experience the city, and hopefully watch fireworks downtown. We booked this hotel based on Expedia listings that highlighted a city view room and a rooftop, which heavily influenced our decision.
Unfortunately, from check-in onward, the experience did not meet expectations. When we asked about the city view and rooftop, the front desk agent seemed genuinely confused and even said she wasn’t sure why the rooms were listed that way. That was disappointing right out of the gate.
The photos online also did not reflect what we walked into. The lobby was extremely small and undergoing construction, with large areas blocked off, which was never disclosed. The pool was closed as well, something our kids were really looking forward to, and again, this wasn’t communicated ahead of time.
To make matters worse, we were placed on the first floor. While that alone was disappointing, it became a major issue when the elevator stopped working. Guests had to use the stairs all night, which were right outside our room. The constant foot traffic and noise made it very difficult to rest. While we understand it was New Year’s Eve, that doesn’t negate the impact on our stay.
The room itself was clean, but when we arrived, there was a noticeable smell of weed. We notified the front desk and were told housekeeping would be sent, but no one ever came during our stay.
Overall, this was a very underwhelming and disappointing experience, especially for a holiday stay meant to be special for our family. Based on our experience, the hotel did not deliver what was advertised, and we would not choose to stay here again.
