The Belfry Hotel & Resort | World's best golf hotels and resorts

"A huge resort hotel attached to the famous golf course, the Belfry is a popular destination for groups looking for an active break. Rooms are a touch corporate, but this isn’t a place for a romantic weekend a deux; besides the three golf courses, there’s a huge spa, a swimming pool, shops, bars (where they do cocktail classes and the like) and a restaurant (the Ryder Grill) big enough to handle most of the guests in the 300-odd rooms. The Brabazon Bar is a fine spot for afternoon tea, but really this luxury resort on the outskirts of Birmingham is all about its world-class golf courses, even if there’s plenty to keep you entertained in between rounds. My husband & I had an overnight stay as a retirement gift. I had the best facial treatment & head & neck massage by Kelsey. Would definitely recommend. She was very friendly & informative. The rooms were nice & clean but a shame there’s no air conditioning & just a fan which couldn’t be moved. All the meals we had were really tasty & plenty of choice to be had. Our visit was finished off by my husband playing 18 holes on the golf course. Thoroughly enjoyable weekend & would definitely return in the future.

As always The Belfry is a great business venue. We had an important impromptu meeting with clients and Ali in the main bar area gave us a great price for one of the meeting rooms (which are perfect for small meetings - and impressive). We always get great service from Ali the team and always made to feel very welcome. We love it here.

We had the pleasure of being served by Ali during our weekend stay at The Belfry, and he truly made our experience memorable. From the moment we arrived at the bar, Ali greeted us with warmth, humour, and an incredible attention to detail. His service was impeccable — friendly, attentive, and always delivered with a smile. It’s rare to come across someone who clearly takes so much pride in what they do. Thank you, Ali, for making our time at The Belfry even more enjoyable. You’re a true credit to the team!

I recently photographed a lovely baby shower at The Belfry, and as someone who knows the venue well, I can confidently say it’s a fantastic place for events. The staff are always friendly, everything ran smoothly, and the gardens make a great backdrop for couple and family photos. Knowing the venue well means I know exactly where to get the best shots — whether it’s in the gardens, by the golf course, or in some of the tucked-away corners. Always a pleasure to shoot here! The Belfry is not only ideal for intimate gatherings like baby showers, but it’s also a top-tier choice for weddings, events, and celebrations of all kinds.

Spent the day at the spa. It’s great value for money. The pool area is a little tired, as is the fire and ice experience (though this was still enjoyable). Staff on reception and in the dining room could be more engaging (looked bored). Lunch was OK (small portions but tasty). The treatments were all great, though variable depending on person delivering the treatment. All in all a good day. I understand they are upgrading the facilities

Another Fantastic Day spent at the Belfry, whilst there we used the Floyd Meeting Room where the service was second to none. The staff could not do enough to help and Alison's attention to detail was brilliant. They were always available to help and very professional and customer service levels were10/10. Highly recommend these little suites for on site meetings.

I had a fabulous couple of days here; enjoying a spa break with friends. All of the staff were very friendly & helpful, the food was delicious & the spa treatments were wonderful. Thank you to Aimee who did my facial & to the lovely girl whose name I forgot to take who did my gel nails. I would thoroughly recommend taking a spa break here.

Yelp
It was our third time at the spa. I bought a groupon offer which included time in their fire & ice room (sauna etc), facial and massage, as well as afternoon tea. It does take a while to phone up and either speak to someone / or they call back, to make a booking. I found it easier to email my booking request!! But the spa is great. The Ambience is perfect! Staff are lovely!! One thing with fire & ice, each time we visit, there has been at least one thing not working like today it was the hydropool so it means you don't get the full experience for what you pay for. But I still like the spa! I recommend it. Plus the girls in the cafe are great, we couldn't eat all our cakes so the girl boxed them up for me to take home!!!

Yelp
Thinking it was definitely time for some relaxation I headed to The Belfry for a solitary spa day. I had been given a gift voucher for which included treatments and afternoon tea. I called the week before and booked my slots. When I arrived there was some confusion as I was not listed on their systems. After waiting for half an hour in the café it turned out that I had been booked in on the wrong day. This was not a great start to my relaxation. However, the manager who dealt with me was very accommodating and took a 'customer is always right attitude' which went a long way to ease my growing annoyance. Once the issue was resolved I have to admit that I loved this place. It was quiet and charming. The facilities are incredible. The pool was a lovely temperature and the sun loungers were comfortable. There is a glass roofed area where you can lounge in the sun or if it is a very nice day there are loungers situated outside. After a short swim I went up for my first treatment, a facial. It wasn't the best that I have ever had but it was still nice. After this I went for afternoon tea which was incredible. My only suggestion would be to have a few more savoury items to go with the sweet. Next was the Fire and Ice Sensorium. I spent a full hours and a half in this area as it was just so good. Approximately 10 different stations offering different hot and cold sensory experiences including sauna's, showers, ice chips, sun lounge and massage pool. After another hour or two I went for my second treatment, a back massage. Again, not the best I have ever received but still enjoyable. All in all, I came out of this day feeling rejuvenated and had the best night of sleep I have experienced for a while. I would love to give this spa five stars, however the initial mixup (and waiting around) in addition to the so-so treatments have had to knock it down to four.

Yelp
I came to the Belfry last week with around 200 colleagues for an annual work conference and everything was spot on. Check in, for that many people, was very well organised and we never had any issues. The conference itself ran without any glitches and the meal in the evening was delightful. My room was lovely! Exceptionally decorated to a very high standard and the bathroom suite was one that you can only dream of having in your house. For a golfing trip for the guys or a spa weekend for the girls this hotel won't disappoint.

Yelp
The Belfry is an enormous complex, well positioned close to the M6 and M42 motorways near Birmingham. It is well-known for its golf which appears to have a good reputation but our experience of staying as guests was less favourable. From the outset, I should say that there appears to have been some problem with our pre-paid reservation, which I am still addressing with the hotel. Leaving that to one side, whilst our room was well-appointed and clean and tidy, it had disabled facilities, which is fine, but the washbasin in the bathroom was far too low for someone able-bodied as I am. The room was very warm and there seemed to be no means of reducing the temperature other than opening the window. This had the desired effect, save that it was looking out onto the bin store and there was a continuous machinery noise, probably a compressor. This, combined with party in the next room which we could hear clearly through the interconnecting (but locked) door, made for a restless night's sleep. Because the hotel is, in the main, low-rise, the distance between bedroom, function rooms, reception and the breakfast cafeteria were quite large so not particularly convenient. Breakfast was disappointing solid fried egg, dry black pudding, hot cereal bowls. We were in something of a hurry but, try hard as we might, we could not attract anyone's attention to provide tea or coffee. I'm in no hurry to return.

Yelp
I visited for the first time today, with a group of 4 girls on a hen-do. This place has a beautiful golf course (which is what it is most known for) and host a number of weddings too. However, we came for the Fire and Ice Experience in the Spa. I had heard of it and was intrigued to see what it was all about. When we first went into the spa area, we walked up to the pool, as we were slightly early. The pool area was packed. There were no seats, insdie or out and no room in the spa pools and no room to swim! It was 11.15 and I was told that as check out isn't until Midday, then people were making the most of it. Luckily, out package (£49 each) was in a slightly different part of the spa. We walked through a door labelled Fire and Ice and were greeted by a friendly lady who guided us around. There were many different rooms to choose from - varying heat temperatures, from freezing to boiling! We were told that we had an hour and half and that turned out to be about right. It was very relaxing. You had your own towel, slippers and gown and could wonder from room to room as you pleased. Afterwards we sat outside Sam's bar at the other end of the hotel and all ate a lovely Chinese noodle salad and them chocolate truffle cake. It was nice, but nothing special and certainly not cheap. However you are paying for the location and on a lovely sunny day you really couldn't complain. Overall we had a great time and I would go back again - though not for a few months and maybe not at the same time of day.

Yelp
Exclusive golf facilities comprising the Derby course, the PGA National and the Ryder Cup Brabazon course. The Brabazon is satisfactory, although not exactly what dreams are made of. The PGA represents better value and is at least as good a course as its more prestigeous sibling. The complex boasts a Hotel, huge on-site, well-stocked, golf shop, restaurant, health and fitness centre, pratice fields. There is also a nightclub (The Bel Air) which is well worth a visit, providing a good mix of music including dance, r&b and party. The Belfry, which is well situated near the A38, M42 and M6 toll, is ideal for a long weekend. You can take advantage of a round of golf, enjoy a relaxing meal and then complete the day with a few drinks in the Piano Bar and a 'boogie'!
