"The quaint village of Charlbury is the setting for this 17C pub, which looks gorgeous thanks to a lavish makeover. The bar and dining areas ooze charm and character, with exposed Cotswold stone walls and crackling log fires among the many appealing features. In summer, the garden and orchard come into their own with a covered terrace and even a small stream. Many ingredients come from their sister operation, Daylesford Organic Farm, and are used in comforting, full-flavoured dishes like Cornish fish pie. Tastefully decorated bedrooms complete the picture." - Michelin Inspector

We had the pleasure of having lunch at the bell yesterday and it was just lovely! The food, the setting was just breathtaking! Daylesford did amazing! However the most outstanding part was our waitress Leny- she was beyond sweet, informative and had great attention to detail. I would go as far as to say she was the best waitress I ever had the pleasure meeting. Big shoutout to her- she made our day!

We came here last Friday, for our anniversary meal (not that the service team knew this when we booked) and the whole experience was perfect. Fantastic food, wonderful surroundings and brilliant service. Our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and super attentive - even little things like getting me some more bread to finish off the pate. The setting was cosy and welcoming. You get a sense of community here, with people coming in and out, eating and drinks as the towns fate takes place outside. I can't wait to go back one day.

Just came in for a drink whilst on holiday. Had a really nice real ale. Comfy seats. Fire was going which added to the atmosphere. Dog friendly. Beware payment is by card only.

We had a relaxing and comfortable stay here as a family and our dog. Google describes this is a 3* hotel and that is not fair as everything about this hotel and restaurant is way above that. The location in the village is very central and there are plenty of comfortable and scenic walks from the door. The rooms are very well done and retain all the historical charm but are furnished and maintained to a high standard; the shower and bathroom were excellent too. The second room we had in the Barn was more modern but spacious and well done too. The whole hotel is very dog friendly and our dog was welcome everywhere and the hotel even provides a dog bed and bowl! We ate one night in the restaurant and the food was again very good. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked and my fish was also spot on. Crisp, crunchy batter and nicely steamed on the inside. The bread and extras were also excellent. Good selection of beers and non alcoholic drinks. The wine list was a bit on the expensive side for the bottles on offer. When we mentioned the high quality of the food the chef came out to chat to us about our meal. Kieran (the chef) was passionate about his kitchen and very generous with his time and spent a long time talking to my son - who is interested in cooking - about his techniques. The next day he bought some books in to help inspire my son further. What a star and clearly a talented guy. The bar was lovely and cosy and we all had a wonderful stay. The staff here were universally friendly and helpful at all times. Sure the prices are high for a pub but this is a luxurious hotel fitted very neatly into a beautiful, historic building. We will definitely come back as we had a wonderful time.

We had the most wonderful experience at The Bell for our wedding celebration. From our very first site visit, we felt completely looked after, and we were truly blessed to have Becky with us all the way through to the big day. She has such a natural gift for hospitality, attention to detail, and making people feel special — it’s rare and it really shone through. The food was exceptional — huge thanks to the chef and kitchen crew for a delicious feast. Special thanks also to Helen for all her help with the rooms, and to Clarissa for the beautiful flowers, which kept so well they were still looking amazing for our second day festival ceremony and banquet. We can’t speak highly enough of Becky and the whole team at The Bell. If you want warmth, care, and an unforgettable experience, this is the place.

We came here to have dinner 🍽 The dining areas had typical stylish cotswold decor. It is very clean throughout, and it's nice to have background music. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and an asset to the hotel. The menu choices were excellent. Good wine and cocktail list. Every ingredient was fresh and cooked to perfection 👌 I'd highly recommend this restaurant. It also had some lovely outdoor dining areas. The additional outdoor bar looked like an amazing area, I'll be back to try that out!!

We stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of August for my daughter's wedding. The rooms were lovely and were well thought out. The food in the Barn was wonderful and the staff ensured the day went perfectly! I cannot praise them enough. Would highly recommend 👌

Yelp
Located in a lovely village with good walks surrounding it, The Bell offers delicious food (the pie of the day was very good) at reasonable prices. Nice interior too, although the service could have come with a bit more of a smile.
