Downtown Dallas Scores a Cute New Costa Rican Coffee Shop - Eater Dallas

"Downtown Dallas has a brand new coffee destination that’s 150 years in the making in the Berni Bean Coffee Company. Located at the base of the Hartford Building, the coffee shop is the brainchild of brother-and-sister team Giuliana and Stefano Bernini, who founded the shop to share their family’s 150-year-old coffee tradition. The shop features three unique roasts, including pepiada and Don Flor, named after the family’s patriarch Florentino Castro Soto. Berni Bean Coffee Company plans to donate 1 percent of the proceeds from their 100 percent Arabica coffee to organizations working to preserve Costa Rican rainforest. They are also supporting local bakers by serving pastries from Uptown’s Bisous Bisous Patisserie." - Rachel Pinn

First time visiting this coffee shop and I gotta say the ambience is peaceful and welcoming. The bagels and sandwiches are delicious but the croissant that i had left much to be desired. I had a rose infused latte while my date had a blueberry infused one it took a bit to get used to the flavors but not surprising by since they were unique in their own way. I will say that the italiano indulgent had a smooth and nutty taste that was complimented by the sweetness of the amaretto and hazelnut. Overall a nice place to go to on a rainy day or to socialize just as long as you don’t mind paying for parking on the streets of Dallas.

Cute little coffee shop in downtown Dallas that has good tasting coffee. I ordered the vanilla rose oat latte and it was good. Light medium roast with toasty notes but not a whole lot of crema. I would suggest ordering a flat white if you come here and like a nice strong espresso with milk.

After searching for the perfect coffee spot for my boyfriend’s birthday, I finally came across Berni Bean and I’m so glad I ended up coming here!!! The place is so cute and I can’t get enough of the vibes. The staff are so friendly, sweet, and helpful as well. My boyfriend was very impressed with the coffee and I with my smoothie. Their Croissandwich is AMAZING! If you’re looking for a cute hole in the wall coffee shop in Dallas, come and check out this place!

Such a cute cafe, but if you’re in a hurry, not ideal. I felt so bad for the girl working, she was the only person doing both the coffee bar AND the food. Insane to expect an employee to keep up with the demand of both. Cute cafe and coffee was yummy, but be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes.

Wonderful place. I dunno if it’s cos I’m foreign but Australians are very particular about cafés, and I loved this one. The cafecito Pura Vida coffee is wonderful if you love batch brew / drip coffee like I do. The breakfast burritico was so tasty. Best I’ve ever had. So glad I found this place! 👏

I’m visiting and staying at a hotel downtown, and one thing I always do on my travel is try local coffee shops. Berni Bean is one you can’t miss. They make their syrups in house and offer unique flavor combos. I really enjoyed the pistachio latte & granola bowl. It was quiet on a Sunday morning from 9-11am, with a steady flow of traffic. Bonus points for the sloth accents 🦥

2nd visit to this location & once again, it did not disappoint. The Staff, the espresso, the delicious food - 10/10.

I made the drive out from Aubrey, Texas to visit this coffee shop after hearing great things about their house-made syrups. When I arrived, I was immediately impressed by the beautiful décor and cozy ambiance — it’s a visually stunning space, especially on a quiet Sunday morning. The menu featured a tempting selection of drinks, including some creative seasonal offerings that had me genuinely excited to try something new. My husband ordered the cinnamon latte, while I opted for the Bernie Bean latte. Unfortunately, both drinks fell flat. Despite the promising descriptions, the flavor was underwhelming — we’d rate both lattes a 3 out of 10. As much as I loved the aesthetic of the space, the coffee itself didn’t live up to expectations. Sadly, it’s not a spot I’ll be revisiting.
