Fairly small location this restaurant has been here for years. Food here is fresh and they have great specials on kebabs, wings and pork dishes. Very easy to find parking with the 3 garages close by.

Banging.. banging.. BAAAAAANGING!! I can't say enough about the flavor and they were very generous with the portions and protein! Excellent service and very clean establishment. I'd be sure to visit again next time I'm in the area.

I’m sick and wanted avgolemono soup, so decided to order carryout here. When I saw the grape leaves were stuffed with beef and not just rice, I had to add those to my order as well. My family makes grape leaves this way and serves them warm, which I have yet to find in a restaurant..until now! I can’t tell you how excited I am. Everything I ate tonight was delicious. I can’t wait to try other dishes on the menu.

I was visiting from out of town and stumbled on this place and decided to come because of my and my husband's love of Greek food. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. Portions are out of control, and everything was so fresh and good. Could not finish it all because there was enough to eat off our plates for three meals! No exaggeration. We ate at the high table facing the windows, and we had a great time people watching on a busy Friday night. Will definitely return when in the DC area. Can't wait to devour my leftovers!

Probably one of the best place to get some gyros, especially on Wednesdays when the gyro are $6 each (only applies to the lamb gyro, not other options). We’ve tried their other menu items ranging from fries to their baklavas and they’re all delicious. Basically you can’t really go wrong with this place and you’ll be satisfied with any entree you select.

I took a gamble and won! I had a Christmas party and wanted to bring food in this year to make it easier on me. I did a Yelp search on moussaka and this place came up as being good. I ordered the moussaka (for 30 ple), greek potatoes, and green beans. The food was AMAZING!!! They delivered the order in a timely manner, helped me put it in the oven (it was a huge pan of moussaka). All my friends asked where I got it, and that it was the best moussaka they had ever tried. Their cafe is up the street from me, so on a persoanl negative-side for me that means I will be visiting often, probably way too often. There goes the diet! Highly highly recommend this restaurant.

Customer services was really good although the food menu is a bit organized and all over the place. Ended up finding the Nikos fried and ordered a side of yogurt sauce. Fries were very crispy and they were loaded with toppings and gyro meat. The sauce is a bit overwhelming but finishes off smooth. They were a bit salty as well but would give them a try again!

Hole in the wall store with some of the best Greek food ever. There is something about their soft but slightly crispy pita bread that hits the spot . Every Wednesday they have $5 gyro specials! I'm not the biggest fan of gyros but I would say this is one of my favorite gyro joints. Additionally their eggplant lasagna type dish with a side of green beans was pretty tasty as well. If you're wanting their pita sampler is a great appetizer to split with friends. Their fries with feta cheese and sauce are so fresh and tasty. It's a shame we don't have on eon the West coast.

I had a gyro meat craving. It got so strong I had to stop what I was doing and go over to the Big Greek Cafe before it closed. The gyro salad didn't disappoint. There was lots of meat and their great house dressing. The person next to you must already like you; the raw red onions are copious! Souvlaki skewers looked filling and seasoned that day. A friend was recommended the pasta with a "you'll like it". It was orzo in a rich red sauce. She liked it fine but it should have been better described. I also wish the kids menu was less than $9+ after tax. The ambiance was bright and clean. Some traditional music wafted in and out of the speakers. The service was fine but not amazing. Mind you, it's a walk up to order and then to get your food. The food took longer to make than I expected. It still came out delicious, though.

Loved this fast casual spot! Great service and a great bang for your buck. There is a lot to choose from on the menu including a kids section.

Tasty and worth every penny. They even offer weekly specials. You can find great parking at this location. It's a nice size shopping center located right off of route 1. The service has always been welcoming and friendly and they're quick getting your orders together.

After a long time, I am back to this restaurant. I must say the food is consistently good. It's a small restaurant in downtown Silver Spring serving big flavorful food. Prices are reasonable and portions are significantly large. Definitely give this locally owned restaurant a try.

MAN OH MAN!!! This restaurant is the best when it comes to quality service and food! I booked TBGC for my school's end of year luncheon/checkout, and this location was helpful with providing the best food options for my staff. Since we're at the end of the school year, funds for extracurricular activities are limited, and I was able to speak with the manager concerning the unit cost of menu items per employee served. The manager was so helpful in providing me options to serve staff--we had gyros, veggie lasagna (which was a staff favorite), salad, rice, and hummus. We had over 130 staff to feed, and we STILL had two trays of food left!! The food was fresh and sooooo good! Staff raved about the food selection, and my principal stated that the luncheon was the best luncheon she's been to or has seen organized in the three years of her administration. Thank you, TBGC, for helping TPMS in Silver Spring close out our school year!

Concur with prior reviews - if you're going to go here please make it a Wednesday and take advantage of their $7 gyro special! The pita is warm and soft, meat freshly prepared with just the right amount of onion, tomato (if that's your thing, you do you!) and tzatziki sauce wrapped up in what can only be described as deliciousness. Highly recommend with prompt and friendly service!

Reliable, tasty, and they give you a lot of food with the platter. I've been several times and the employees are always really nice. I like the chicken kabob, and they give you some salad! The hummus and pita are also good.

Great quick lunch spot! The food was super fresh and the service was fast! Price was a little high for the portions though.

Time to update my review... I always order the same thing -- the lamb chops! And each time they get progressively worse. One time the chops were shriveled and flavorless. Another time the chops were gristly and made of mostly inedible fat. And one time (see the pictures) they were hard and burnt. It's a shame that the company is so inconsistent with this dish, resulting in an average of just 2 stars!

THE BEST GYRO'S IN THE AREA. They are really really good. I wish they gave you more than ONE cube of feta per gyro, and I wish they once remembered the extra tzatziki that we paid for in our delivery order... but alas their food is good enough to overlook these things on occasion. Their fries are also amazing- which was not expected but they are the kind where you eat them all in one sitting and then wonder what the hec happened. We also have really loved the fried flounder platter, the salads and the dolmades. It's the best fast food/Greek food in the vicinity and we will be back!

The big Greek Cafe is honestly my favorite place to order delivery from. I've never had a bad order. Their bowls are delicious. I love their falafels! And the bowls always come with a side of pitas and tzatziki. The bowls are already very filling so to add the extra pitas and tzatziki is quite generous. I've also had the pita sandwiches- delicious! And the crazy feta fries which are very yummy. They are honestly my go-to place to order from when I'm not sure what I want. I've ordered them when friends are over and they always love their meals. The big Gr cafe is straightforward fast casual greek food. You can't go wrong!

The Greek fries - that's all you need to know. I mean, everything there is pretty good, but oh the fries... I'm also a fan of the pita sandwich with falafel - I always get extra tzatziki so I can dip the fries. Service is usually pretty quickly. Every now and then their online ordering system is down, but usually super easy to order online, walk in and pick up!

1-13-2024 Salads and gyro excellent. Portions were generous and all vegetables fresh. We were staying at the HOME2 Suites and ordered some take out. So great to have this healthy option.

Yummy! Everyone in our family loves the food here. The restaurant is clean and the workers are nice and fast. We have been here a few times during our stay and both ate there as well as called and picked up our order. Probably will be back a few more times before we head home to California!

The gyro sandwich. Nothing else needs to be said. It has won AWARDS. I have ordered it twice in one week...for delivery! It is perfection. And the portion is HUGE. I have ordered from here many times in the last ten years I have lived here and everything is so good. It has earned its 5 stars.

Had a gyro today for lunch. Loved it. I'll be back for more real soon. $10.95 plus tax. It's was loaded. Almost every bite had some meat falling out of it.

If you're looking for the best Greek food to order you can stop reading now and just place your order. The Big Greek Cafe is stupidly good, I have no complaints on any aspect. My go to order is to get the Greek feast where you get skewers, a gyro, and Teo sides. I always go with the greek fries which are covered in feta and the side Greek salad. We also always get the dip trio - I've tried all of the dips and they're all incredibly good. My favorite is their spicy feta which is scary addicting. Their baklava cheesecake is out of this world as well, although we usually order enough food that we don't need the add on. Prices are super reasonable and a feast lasts for a couple of meals.

I showed up at the Kensington location only to find out I had goofed and ordered from a different location. My bad. The good folks at Kensington remade my order for no charge (I had already paid online). Awesome service, thanks for bailing me out!

Great prices, friendly service, good flavors and good portions. I'm a sucker for avgolemono soup (but may still not be able to spell it) and theirs is quite good. I also like their Greek fries and have enjoyed every sandwich I've had there. They also are quite kind and gracious. On one occasion, I accidentally made an online order for the wrong location, but they prepared what I had ordered and didn't charge me a second time, even though they definitely had already made my order at the other location.

Ok, my credit union is a few doors down from The Big Greek Cafe on New Hampshire Ave., so I stopped in to eat after leaving the union. Their food is SO good. I had the salmon platter combo and my salmon was so hot (and fresh), I had to blow on it before taking a bite. The Salmon was an ample portion sitting on top of their delicious greek potatoes, and I had a mediterranean side salad with it. For fast food, it was a perfect 10. Their Gyros are also delicious. That's what I was going to buy, but I wanted to try something different on their menu. Yum!

I ordered a gyro, which was very dry and just not good. My boyfriend ordered lamb chops, and they were also dry and flavorless. However I'm gonna add a star for the good service, so that's 2 stars for our poor experience.

This has quickly become one of my favorite quick pickup spots in the dt silver spring area. The food is always fresh and hot and made quickly. I usually go for the chicken wrap and the Greek fries. The fries come well seasoned with crumbed feta -- sooo good. I've tried a couple of the deserts, and really enjoyed the baklava cheesecake. Overall, great little spot with great food.

Stopped in on a Saturday for lunch. I got the chicken souvlaki pita and roasted potatoes. DELICIOUS! Generous portion of chicken, the creamy dressing on the side was so delicious and you could tell it was homemade. The little cube of feta and pepperoni on the side were a good touch. The roasted POTATOES were soooo yummy and I'll definitely be craving these. Service was fast, the shop was very clean and simple. I'll definitely be stopping by again whenever I'm running errands around Silver Spring!

Authentic Greek food, amazing ambiance, and kind customer service? What more could you ask for? This restaurant serves amazing Greek food and you can tell they care about the food they serve and are very customer focused. I'm currently in town visiting but I know what restaurant is going to be my regular whenever I'm in town If you haven't visited, you need to, and get their famous gyro pita! You will NOT regret it

Great casual Greek restaurant! Went in and asked that owner what he recommended and he said if it was my first time I had to get the gyro and Greek fries! Something "different" than the normal fast food and on Wednesdays they have a $6 gyro deal which you can't beat!

I guess you have to go at lunchtime for good food. Went there today at 5:45PM and it was subpar. Chicken(unusually small serving size) on my Greek salad had been cooked at a previous time and reheated in a microwave and the gyro meat for another dish was dried out. One of the dishes was wrong and there was no diet coke in the soda machine! And we had quite a long wait for the food which would have been ok if the food was good. Should have stayed home and eaten leftovers!

Well now I've tried the 3rd branch of this chain and I've just got to say again, the very best moussaka ever! Nice people at the counter. We made our order then walked around Bethesda for a few minutes while our meals were being prepared. The moussaka was great as was the salad that came with everything in the side, just as ordered. We tried the orzo with tomato sauce this time and it's the same sauce that's in the moussaka, so, it was fantastic! The pork souvlaki was said to be tender and delicious. And the fries are great! Dessert was rice pudding. I didn't try any this time but my daughter loved it! Can't wait to get back next time I'm in the area!

Excellent Greek food, very good prices, & you won't leave hungry! If go you back to a place 2 days in a row....then you gotta believe the food is good and feel that this place knows what they are doing. lol The lamb/beef gyro is my "go-to" and delicious. The meat is soft, juicy, seasoned and plentiful. The chicken souvlaki is also one of my favorites here and is equally competing to be Numero Uno -- "go-to." The pita is soft, warms and so tasty too. It is unbelievably fresh and good. The portion size is great and I never leave here hungry. On cheat days, you might as well add in the fries and make it a platter for a small additional cost. The price point is very good and the Greek fries is addictive. Sort of walk the lines of Arby's or Checkers seasoned fries....crispy and good on flavor. The customer service and wait time ordering is good here too. The folks I've encountered have been very friendly and helpful in describing dishes when I feel like venturing from my normal Gyro order. And, on Wednesdays they have $6 gyros!! The gyros are so good that I think it is a crime to pay so less for them but....Hey! I'm not complaining no time soon. :) I definitely recommend this place for a quick bite or when you are looking for something fast food - casual, on the semi-healthy tip!

Really clean inside. We ordered souvlaki pita and falafel pita. They came out quick and hot. Very tasty as at other locations. Would've liked more tzatziki sauce and feta (only given 1 small cube).

This place was bookmarked in my Yelp app and it wasn't far from where I get my eyebrows done. I called in my order and after about 10 minutes I walked in and picked it up. I decided to try the gyro and the Greek fries. This is a hearty gyro. They don't skip on the meats or the toppings, and the toppings are really fresh. There was a big old hunk of feta cheese & a pepper at the top of my gyro. Well seasoned meat, fresh toppings, and soft warm bread equals a happy girl. I poured tzatziki sauce in between each bite. The fries were seasoned fries with some crumbled feta cheese and some other seasonings on top. It was tasty. I've had Greek fries once before at another place and these were different than what I remembered. I think the ones I had before maybe had like some type of oil or something on them, but these were good nonetheless. The next time I go back I'll have to try the spanakopita, another one of my favorites, and the chicken lemon soup if they have it. I have no complaints. The staff was friendly, the service was prompt, they got my order right, and I was able to use Apple Pay.

Best gyro in DC. Service is solid. We're not here for the aesthetics. Great for lunch. They get you and out. I came for gyro and feta fries. They a little stingy with the tzatziki sauce.

Ordered Papou's Gyro Salad and the grape leaves. Such a HUGE salad!! I saved 1/2 for dinner. Everything was soo good. The meat was juicy and tender and very flavorful! Grape leaves were some of the best I've had! Now that they're opened in Hillandale, I'll be frequenting even more.

Popular lunch spot, popped in to fill the tank and slake a thirst. They do a wonderful job on the pita bread, seams to be extra buttery and slightly crisp. Lots of foot traffic so they must be doing something right. The portions are large and left us stuffed. We were very satisfied with our lunch.

The service was very good. The girl heard we wanted one gyro split and took care of it and gave us two plates. The gyro was not very good. Much better ones around. I will not be back

The salad was underwhelming. The meat was dry. Portion size was really good though. I would try something else if I go back to this place, not a salad. Outside form the food the service was great. It's worth a try.

Simple ,reasonably priced short order foods. The spanakopita was soggy and not baked properly, chicken souvlaki was was just ok, and the feta cheese was of dubious quality.

Absolutely love this place - I remember the first time I had it a few years ago and then I moved away. Since I moved back, I try my best to go at least once a week. My family loves it too! My parents absolutely love this place and I have so many great memories over the Gyros and Greek Fries on Friday nights before going to our church group. I really love it here. The service is simple and fast and polite. The ambiance is very much casual and affordable. You won't leave hungry that's for sure!

The gyro was good but it was way too salty. More toppings could have made it decent. Hopefully it was just this time... but I'd definitely try something else next time. Crispy fries.

I've both eaten here and have gotten take out several times. The food is always delicious and affordable. The Gyro deal on Wednesdays is unbeatable. My other favorite menu item is the Moussaka. My wife and I look forward to eating the wonderful food from The Big Greek Cafe soon.

I ordered the Falafel Salad and wished instead I had got the Chicken Salad & added a falafel for $1. But it was good, I ate it all. I liked that it came with some taziki sauce that was my favorite, really thick and fresh with slivers of cucumber. I also got a slice of Cheesecake Baklava thanks to the yelp reviews! I've never really liked Baklava before but insert some cheesecake and Whoa! It was super creamy with some honey and crunchy nuts and the chew of the pastry layers I also ordered the multi layer yellow cake with chocolate frosting and my man didn't like it cold but ate it all when it came to room temperature. So I guess it was pretty good too.

No matter what you order, the food and desserts never disappoint. I have my go to's: spinach pie, greek salad, greek potatoes, shrimp souvlaki pita sandwhich. Desserts? You must try their baklava cheesecake. It is the best!
