Shaw’s Late-Night Fried Chicken Shack Roy Boys Will Close This Month - Eater DC

"After going dark in April, decades-old Dupont dive Big Hunt won’t reopen. Its lease expired on Halloween, and the landlord 'is under financial pressure and needs to sell or lease property,' its listing broker tells Eater, adding 'they would welcome an updated take on the Big Hunt.' Founded by D.C. nightlife pioneer Joe Englert in the 1990s, the bar drew a cult-like following for its underground comedy nights, gloriously tacky decor, and cheap drafts." - Tierney Plumb

Large eclectic bar near Dupont Circle. They have multiple bars over the three stories, including outdoor space and a mini arcade. Fun place with a great assortment of beers.

So my friends and I got here a bit late even though they close later, their kitchen closes at 11pm but what was really nice was their burgers were half off. Because of this I got the cowboy burger and it was pretty good. The fries were good too. The sweet potato fries were good as well but they cost extra. What was strange though was our server had us pay first before we even ate but that might have been because it was late. There was a comedy show that ended right when we got there which is disappointing but that was wasn’t their fault we missed it. We got there at around 10pm. I enjoyed the music as well which is pretty rare. They played British punk and Motörhead which was rad.

A staple of the DC dive bar scene. A few video games in the back, and comedy shows (free except for weekends) in the basement. Beer and food is fine/what you'd expect. Three bar areas - two downstairs, and a small one up on the second floor. Second floor overlooks below for people watching.

The Big Hunt has an extensive menu of craft beers. Really fun comedy shows that are free on Wednesday and Thursday nights and reasonably priced on Fridays and Saturdays. The pizza is overrated — very doughy and soggy, with no crunch anywhere. The bartender assessed it as just a bit better than frozen pizza, and that might be overselling it. Come for the beers and comedy.

Love this dive bar! On the weekends they have free underground comedy starting at 11:30pm. This is a spot where sometimes well-known comedians would come to test out their material. One night I went on a Saturday and Michelle Wolf & Michael Che showed up!

One of my favorite places to go with friends in the area. It just keeps going! Just walk around and keep discovering bars and new things. Comedy shows downstairs, skeeball, games, lounge area upstairs, rooftop smoking area attached to another bar. (No pool tables or darts) but fun place to hang out.

Don't get the happy hour pizza or house beer - not good. However, super nice bartender Mary. She's great!

Was a solid bar with three different bars to sit at and even multiple tables throughout the three floors of the bar. They have security at the door which is always nice as you know there will be a slightly calmer atmosphere. Didn't get to try the food but is smelt great. The beers are at an average DC price. Enjoy!
