The Bird

My family and I went for dinner to “The bird” and the food was amazing. We ordered: - The Crab roll, brioche bun, homemade mayonnaise, wild crab meat, crunchy salad - The Gambas' Bao, bao bread, mixed prawns, garlic mayonnaise, ginger - The Pulled farm raised pork from Aveyron, slow cooked 12 hours BBQ style "house specialty" - The Bird burger, beef steak, Cévennes goat's cheese sauce, crispy bacon and onion confit - The Whole French duck breast, roasted with honey, ginger, balsamic Everything was great, also the waiters were nice. I definitely recommend this place if you are in Nimes and you want to eat homemade dishes.

Came to this place without reservation, really enjoyed the atmosphere. The highlight of the meal was the taco starter, then it took them 40 mins to deliver the main tournadou dish. They apologised for the delay and it was due to many people entering restaurant at the same time. The cocktails were ok.

The place has a nice atmosphere but the rest could be better. Very friendly service but very slow. It was very hot and even though the air conditioning was on it didn't help much. The dishes on the menu were a strange mix . The portions were small and some dishes were ok and others not. A lot of bread in the dishes and sweet sauces. Not to our taste.

Super bummed, great reviews, beautiful looking food, cool little joint... and terrible food. Would have given the food 1 star but the dessert saved it. Got their best aged steak and found it mostly gristle and fat. Not marbling fat, just chunks, while the meat was strangely lean and stringy. Son had the steak too so mine was not just a fluke. Fries were over cooked, chewy and nearly cold. The dessert was really pretty good tho. Service was outstanding and the setting was super cute. But the chairs were essentially metal fold outs so my butt was completely numb and sweaty from the too warm stagnant room. I would eat there again if I was starving and it was free otherwise save yourself a couple hundred.

Top notch meal and experience in Nimes, France. Our AirBnB host recommended it and made us reservations. It did not disappoint. Fantastique!!

Embarrassing. This cost 25€. I looked at the plate of other guests and they were served full plates - even with more salad. This is the third time I’ve tried them out and it’s the same horrible experience even after taking a break from them for a few years. I gave them a try again because of the invitation of a friend. I was hoping for the best, but sadly their immortality remains as strong as ever. I am served food like I am a tourist who doesn’t know any better. They’re so desperate for money that they lack ethics and morality to serve all their customers the same quality of food. They sell the off cuts to people they think won’t notice. Kid cooks in the back who look like they’re hanging out at recess doesn’t help matters. Meanwhile, the servers put on overly saccharin friendliness knowing full well they are in the process of cheating you. Sadly, this has become the way of French restaurants. Using English words in your name and menu in an effort to be “cool” and meanwhile you lack quality, authenticity and integrity. Get your priorities straight. How can this country have Italy and Spain on either side of it and yet the food here remains so consistently bad?? Italians and Spanish are still actually cooking and taking time to build flavor and not wasting time with gimmicks like putting “The” in front of every menu item. Working in the restaurant industry and exploring world cuisine and knowing the ins and outs of the industry, tonight’s experience proves again how far France has fallen in not just food but in actual pride. No one with a sense of real pride (and not empty arrogance) serves food like this. How do you sleep at night? Also, who serves undercooked pork? If that was what it even was. Mon dieu. France, please stop resting on your past laurels and do better. Your food was once great, sure. Now it’s absolute overpriced, tasteless, lazy, factory-made horror. Go on. Deny it. I’m waiting.

The food is really good and fresh, the service is nice and friendly! Definitely coming back here.
