Stand in line, order, and seat yourself. Indoor and outdoor seating. Specialty coffee, mimosa, and other drinks. We tried the Scotch eggs, wow powerful flavor and very tasty, definitely a great treat. I had the Baja Benedicts, bit of a kick, but very tasty. He had the tacos and added the sausage, bit of spice. He said it was good although still raving about the Scotch eggs. They do have the deviled eggs many flavors, didn't have room to try but we love those.

9/13/25 - very cute spot and love the aesthetic. There is a bit of parking next to the place but can find street parking as well. They have inside and outside seating. Inside is pretty small and more so for 1-4 people. Outside seating you could seat a little more. You order at the register and then they bring the food out to you. I got the waffle plate. My friends got the chicken and waffles and another got the appetizer loaded fries. I got the I heart t rex drink, and my friends got the mocktail drink that looked like a mojito. Another one got the ginger beer. The food was pretty good. My waffle was cooked just right, just enough brown on it. However some of my friends were not and still soft. Some of my friends got a larger size of chicken than others, but they all said it was delicious. You can also get hot honey on the side with your dish. The fries were really good as well. I also enjoyed the drink but be mindful as to how small it is. I wish it was a little bit bigger. Overall really enjoyed everything and the service was pretty quick with checking out table and grabbing out empty dishes.

Google
Menu could use some work...lots left to to interpretation. Was really disappointed to receive candied cold bacon today because I was really looking forward to chowing down. The deviled Adobo eggs were mediocre at best. The highlight of my mini meal was my turkey sausage. May come back and see if my rating can be improved but there just too may mishaps for me to enjoy today's visit.

Google
What a great little eatery! After looking around the area for a good brunch spot since we're not from around here, this place popped up for recommended. Parking is very limited, but once we were inside we didn't have to wait long to order food. You order and pay at the counter which was actually nice, and then find seating. Once we ordered we only waited a few minutes for our coffees and then a few more for food. Everything was delicious! Wife got the chicken and waffles and I got the Colonial Benedict. It was all flavorful, and we also loved the crispy seasoned hash browns. Our lattes were also not overly strong and a little sweeter like we requested. Highly recommend to stop here if you're in Norfolk.

Google
What a great spot! Friendly staff and excellent food. I got the triple pickle chicken sandwich which was the best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten. My husband also enjoyed his chicken and waffles. He commented more than once that the chicken was perfectly cooked. He was also happy that the hot sauce actually had some real heat. We can't wait to return and try more things!!

Google
Came here after work for breakfast. I got the avacado toast and the bacon. The bacon had a a lot of seasoning but I think that how it was supposed to be. The avacado toast was very flavorful with a hint of sweetness. Wasn’t busy when I went in and a nice calm area .

Google
This spot is really nice. The food is amazing, the service is great, and the atmosphere is amazing. The prices are reasonable and the drinks are good as well. If you want to dine in somewhere and not be around a lot of people and get quick service then this is the spot for you.

PLEASE!!! for the love of all things have something to eat and a coffee or a cocktail!!! I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed such a brilliantly crafted food and beverages. The service was just as impressive, hands down one of the best places we have stopped in ages. My husband and I can’t wait to go back.

Yelp
The Bird is one of my absolute favorite spots in Norfolk! It has such a unique vintage vibe that's truly unmatched, and the food is consistently amazing. Whether you're stopping in for a drink, breakfast, brunch, or a late-night bite, this place never disappoints. Some of my personal favorites are the Southwest Salad, espresso martini, red pepper hummus, deviled eggs, and bacon jam--so good! For late night, I can't recommend the chicken and waffles enough. It's the perfect post-night-out meal when you're craving something breakfast-y but elevated. The menu always feels thoughtful, fresh, and gourmet, and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. On top of that, the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better. It's a smaller restaurant, but the cozy vibe works in its favor, and the outdoor seating is such a plus. Located right on Colley, it's in a super walkable part of Norfolk that just adds to the charm. This spot deserves all the hype--it's truly a Norfolk hidden gem!

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite but a few things stood out. Menu item i.e candied bacon (didn't say it would be served cold). On numerous occasions tried getting the attention of staff and was completely ignored until I had to get up out my seat to address wrong items brought to my table. Establishment is quaint and parking is limited in the small lot, and limited spots on the street first come first serve basis if you're familiar with that area of Norfolk. For the space to be on the smaller side the music was relatively loud. So wouldn't recommend as a place to go and try to catch up with a small group, definitely a pop in and skidaddle type of place. If Im honest a 3 out of 5 is being generous. I spent approximately $21 dollars and left rather unfulfilled. Will I come back Im not sure, detected an air of nonchalance when it came to the errors so Im not kosher on repeat establishments that don't pride themselves on top notch customer service first. I speak very clearly so to have the types of mishaps I had with my rather small meal was a tad over the top for me. Sorry I wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday. We expected a wait since it was brunch time on a weekend. Waited 45 min in line just to get to the front counter to order. You walk in, grab menus, wait in line to order at the counter, and hope to find a table to sit at while you wait for your food to be delivered impersonally. Eventually got to order and the drinks are made by the same person behind the bar taking your order. Chai wasn't homemade and was poured out of a boxed container. Cocktail was okay, but not worth the price. Went out to find a seat and waited for our food to be dropped on the table. Waited about 25 more minutes for food which was reasonable. For food we ordered a BYO omelette, Baja Benedict, and gazpacho. The gazpacho wasn't very flavorful, but tasted good on top of the breakfast potatoes. BYO omelette: the ingredients weren't mixed into the egg at all, fillings were sparse, and not seasoned. Baja Benedict was flavorful, but grilled chicken was lacking in amount. Hollandaise was yummy thankfully. We stuck out the wait because everyone online recommended this place and we are from out of town. What a mistake. We should've gone to the cafe a few doors down whose plates looked filled up and seasoned. The wait staff here was just as bland as the food. I use the term wait staff lightly as you had to order at the counter, get your own seats, your own silverware, pour your own water glasses, etc. Go somewhere else for a nice brunch experience. This didn't hit the mark at all. At the end of the meal found a lovely piece of hair that wasn't mine on the plate. I didn't bother saying anything because at that point we just wanted to leave. We didn't want anything else. It felt stressful and far from relaxing. The inside decor is cute?

Yelp
The Bird coffee shop offers a delightful experience with its delicious food and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant itself was clean, which adds to the overall charm. Although we had a slightly rocky start with the first bartender, she seemed a bit indifferent, the other bartender quickly turned our experience around with his friendly service. I must also commend the bathroom, it was really clean and cozy, making for a pleasant visit. Overall, The Bird is a solid choice for a satisfying meal in a chill environment.

Yelp
Amazing vibes!!! Came late on a Thursday night for a drink and small bites, the dining room was decently full. Loved the dim lighting and the music. Order at the bar, the bartenders were very friendly and accommodating. The Aviation cocktail was delicious. The have a rotating selection of deviled eggs, but I'm not a fan of smoked salmon so I opted for the regular. Very dilly and delicious. The baby Caesar was also the perfect size. I think I'm going to come back for a "girl dinner" of truffle fries and caesar salad next time I'm here. Would love to come back and sample the brunch and coffee!

Yelp
Delightful brunch sitting outside on the street! We each ordered something different and it was all excellent. Server checked on us for coffee & water refills. I would definitely return here if I was in the area!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to get good food and drinks. I love the atmosphere. It's so cozy. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. They always change up a few items on their menu. I got the chicken dip grilled cheese and the truffle fries. They were both delicious. I can't wait to try the deviled eggs when I come back next time.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! I stopped here for brunch while down in Norfolk on a Sunday. They are open until 2PM on Sundays for brunch, then open again for dinner at 5. We stopped in around 12:30PM, and it was a quiet afternoon at The Bird. I love the interior of this spot. You order at the counter / bar, then seat yourself. There is plenty of seats outside if that's your vibe, too! I ordered the espresso martini after hearing great things about it. How could I not? My friend and I ordered the special deviled eggs, which were California roll style to share, and I ordered the baja benedict for my entree. English muffin topped with grilled chicken, poached eggs, hollandaise, house corn bean salsa, and avocado. We took our seat and waited only only a few minutes for our cocktails, and maybe 15 for our food. Not bad at all. The first bite of the deviled eggs was incredible. It tasted like an actual sushi roll, but disguised as an egg. Great dish to try. My benedict was so tasty. The home-fries were perfectly crisp, and the benedict had a little spice, the chicken was cooked to perfection and the toppings made it. I can't wait to come back to try their dinner menu. I was eyeing the triple pickle sandwich!!

Yelp
Cute little spot to grab breakfast at. You come in and grab your own menu and place your order at the front and then sit anywhere it. It is fairly small in the inside (they also have a few tables outside as well) I do not recommend comimg here with a large party. I would suggest a party of 4 or smaller to be able to sit together. The food was amazingg!

Yelp
I went to the Bird to meet with a friend for cocktails last week. The restaurant was quaint and had a lovely ambiance. The staff was kind and gave us drink recommendations. I tried two beverages: the aviation & the isla jade. Both were lovely! I also tried the truffle fries. They were salty which I personally like, but I didn't taste any truffle flavor. I will definitely come back for drinks and would like to try some other food items!

Yelp
The Bird has been on my radar ever since it opened so a friend and I stopped in for Brunch on Sunday around 1pm. With the restaurant having very limited seating, she did have to wait a bit before I arrived but was able to grab a hightop near the bar. Unfortunately, the table was very small and the area was a bit tight. Thankfully, some people sitting at a normal table were leaving and we were able to grab their spot. As we sat down, I couldn't help but notice how beautifully decorated the restaurant was. I loved all the bird pictures and greenery, it gave very cozy vibes. The Brunch menu had an array of options so we decided to try the Chicken & Waffles, Candied Bacon, French Onion Soup Deviled Eggs and a Biscuit with Home Fries. The food was served fairly quickly and overall, everything was pretty good. The Chicken & Waffles were amazing! The chicken was fried perfectly and seasoned very well. It tasted even better when I added the hot honey and homemade hot sauce. The Candied Bacon had a salty finish but paired well with the other food items. The French Onion Soup Deviled Eggs were the special and even though they weren't bad, I probably wouldn't order them again. The Biscuit was buttery and decadent, I love that they make them in house. Of course we had to indulge in drinks so we started with Espresso Martinis which were wonderful. Someone nearby ordered the Fowl Play so I had to try it as well. It was served with a lit cinnamon stick which gave it a very smooth and smoky flavor. It was divine. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at The Bird. The wait does get pretty long, especially on weekends, so keep that in mind. You also have to order your food up front near the bar, which becomes a bit of a nuisance since you to have to get up every time you want to order food/drinks but definitely stop in and try them out. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Sophia and I had breakfast here at this small Norfolk spot during Presidents Day weekend. The first time I caught wind of The Bird was through Channel 13 when they were spotlighted for their Friday Flavor segment last year. So why not give them a try? The building itself is small with a few small tables and a few tabletops along with the main bar. Inside, the decor is excellent. This is basically your neighborhood bar. And you can see the kitchen area adjacent to the bar as well. Once you walk in, you go the front and place your order with the option of paying now or after you're done with your meal. I selected the Eggs in a Nest meal which is Texas Toast with eggs in the center, home fries and bacon/sausage (I chose their house sausage). At first, I assumed that eggs would be between the toast slices, but nope. These are literally eggs cooked in the center. I chose medium cooked instead of hard fried. The dish may not look like much, but it worked. Both egg toast slices were cooked very well, the home fries were slightly crunchy and the sausage had a nice maple taste. I also had their hot brown sugar latte which was very good. Sophia had their waffle plate which she enjoyed as well. The Bird definitely knocked it out of the park. Both of us will be back here again real soon. Till next time :)

Yelp
We really enjoyed our brunch the other day here. It is very busy but somehow works with getting seating. There is also seating outside. Everyone was happy with their meals. I also enjoyed my cold foam iced coffee. Staff were very friendly and welcoming all while being very busy. Looking for breakfast or brunch? Check Them Out!

Yelp
I decided to visit the Bird on a Sunday morning after reading the reviews. I must admit I was a little dissappointed but then I reminded myself reviews are very subjective including mine lol The resturant was fairly easy to find, located right on Colley. Parking included both street and a parking spacing adjacent to the resturant. There is no host seating, you seat yourself. Some will describe the space as cozy but to me it was just small including the tables. If you are looking for a place that will sit a large party this restuarant most likely would not be the best option. When you order your food you have to pay for it up front, which definitely gave me take out vibes. I ordered the waffle plate which includes a waffle topped with fruit, two eggs, potatoes and choice of breakfast meat. I personally was not a fan of their waffle. In my opinion the waffle was lacking flavor and was very flour forward in taste. My turkey sausage was not cooked all the way and when I sent it back to the kitichen they gave me back the same sausage that I broke apart and bit vs giving me a new sausage. Overall, the Bird was ok, but I doubt I would drive back to Norfolk just to eat there.

Alexandra C.

Yelp
When you walk in, it's "grab a menu and a seat. Order at the front." Water is self serve which is great and the music is good. Not too loud at all. Hostess was extremely nice and attentive. Our loaded fries were amazing. As someone who never orders anything with sauces, I highly recommend them. There is a tad bit of spice (jalapeño) , but it was amazing. The food was great and we will definitely be back. I also think the price is great for the atmosphere and food offered.

Yelp
As fancy as this place is, I'm surprised they don't have any wait staff. Place is very small and when you walk in, you need to grab your own menu and utensils and order your own food at the bar. I think that puts a lot of work on the bartender. Like making one person do jobs that two people should do. The table markers for the food are notable birds or people which I think is funny and has a nice touch. I ended up with the Coconut Something as my drink and my partner got a latte. He said it was really well made and delicious. Said it was strong and bold. My drink was pretty tasty. Everything we had was delicious. The prices were really high but prices are like that nowadays. I got the Egg in the Nest which was the first time I've ever had something like this and it was really delicious. The bacon wasn't fatty and really crispy. They skimmed on the home fries though. It could've been more. He went with the Huevos Rancheros. Everything was flaky and bursting with flavors. We shared the Bourbon Bacon Jam. It had really thick pieces of bacon and I believe there's some onion in it but it was sweet and not overwhelming. Overall it was a great choice and will be back.

Yelp
First off, Kevin, our server was awesome! Friendly, efficient and just plain terrific. He made us glad that we chose The Bird for brunch. This is a cute, small cafe. They have a robust and interesting menu, and cocktail program. I was with a group, so we ordered a number of small plates to share, in addition to entrees. All of the food was excellent! I strongly recommend this terrific restaurant!

Yelp
I was told that there will be a wait. At 10:12am on a Friday you'd think the early morning 8am crowd's gone and the lunch crowd isn't here yet - but there's still a wait. Took about 15 minutes to get my order in. Ordered a vanilla latte to hold me over for the don't know how long the food will come wait. The latte is really good - right amount of sweetness. Parking is available up front but only about 3 spaces. Then there are lots to the left and right of the restaurant but marked for different restaurants. So I hope they won't tow! Music playing over PA system, average to loud. Decor and place cards reflective of what do you know ...birds! I ordered the breakfast tacos. The ingredients were fresh. Flavorful and has the right amount of (spicy) kick!
google avatar

Yelp
LOVE the vibe here. The decor and green walls are so cozy. Stopped in for a late dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The home fries were nice and crispy and seasoned well. The chicken was fried perfectly and the waffle had a nice hint of sweetness. The drinks were very well crafted. Their drink menu stood out to me as it's pretty different from most places around here and I feel like it gives you the chance to try something new, which is fun! The bartenders were quick and very friendly. Would highly recommend and I will certainly be back!

Yelp
Very small restaurant, I'm estimating maybe 6-7 tables inside and 3 or 4 outside. There is also bar seating. You wait in line to order your food at the cash register at the bar. They bring your food to the table when it's ready. Free coffee refills. My food was good. I was there at lunchtime, you could choose breakfasty type items (omelettes, waffles, eggs Benedict, bagel with smoked salmon) or lunchy items. Service was friendly. Various cocktails and mocktails, coffees, etc.

Yelp
My friend wanted to try this place and after I seen the menu, I couldn't wait to try it either. I love a good brunch and apparently this place is very popular. It is a little small on the inside. Very cute vibe. I will tell you that it's seat yourself order from counter service. The only thing that makes you nervous is if you go up to order, someone might take your table. So at first, I forgot that we had to go up and order our own food so we were sitting there waiting for a waitress and then it dawned on me that we're supposed to go order from the counter ourselves. Of course we started our adventure with the typical espresso martini for the both of us. They were very good! It's now become a thing that each time we go out to brunch that we indulge in an espresso martini. Placing the order was quick and easy our drinks were ready right away . Our food came quick to considering how busy it is it kind of was surprising how fast the service was. There was a little wait it wasn't very long. They moved people in and out quite quickly. At first, we had gotten a bar top table. It was kind of small for two of us because we knew we were going to order quite a bit of things to try so a table had opened up and we moved to jump over on the table, which was a larger. We opted to order quite a few appetizers and small plates to try and share. So we ordered the French onion soup, deviled eggs on a potato nest , candied bacon, a biscuit, chicken and waffles to share home fries the candy bacon was salty. We were not sure why the deviled eggs were called French onion soup deviled eggs. It had no taste of French onion soup whatsoever and I did not see a nest of potatoes , we shared the waffle was tasty my friend ate the chicken and said it was very good. The biscuit was good. You can tell. It's homemade the home fries were just your average home fries. As we're sitting there eating our food the table next to us ordered a cocktail that came out with a cinnamon stick on fire. It looked very interesting so we asked the gentlemen what was the name of the drink that he was drinking we ended up ordering one of those it was called Foul Play and I ordered A Cat Named Mexico. We figured that we would share and try each other's drinks. I really enjoyed A Cat named Mexico. It was very refreshing. It would make a great summer drink Foul Play was also really good. Very interesting. I'm not a big fan of smoke flavor Mezcal is not my thing, but it was very good. The presentation was the best. To the left of us, two gentlemen came in and sat down and they ordered what look to be some more interesting drinks so we asked them what they were drinking and what they had ordered for an appetizer. They had ordered an espresso martini as well, and I cannot recall the name of the other drink. For an appetizer, they had ordered the bacon bourbon jam we had told them that we were gonna order that but we had so much other food that we decided to pass on that they insisted that we try it so they gave us some to try. I'm glad that we didn't order it. It was very sweet. I'm glad we decided to go like I said the place is very cute. I would definitely go back even if it's just for the cocktails alone because those were definitely a winner.

Yelp
A fantastic brunch spot! This place has limited seating during the winter, but I could see it being more comfortable in the spring and early summer! The inside is so eclectic and cozy though! You order at the register and the staff bring you your drinks and food. My fiance and I ordered a pumpkin latte and matcha latte. First, I want their espresso bean secrets!! His latte was so smooth, and their in house syrup was the cherry on top. My matcha was also so good! Kudos to the lovely latte art. For breakfast we ordered their candied cajun bacon, the scotch eggs, chicken and waffles, and the chicken sandwich. The scotch eggs were SO GOOD! I've been dying to try them and they did not disappoint. My chicken and waffles were perfect--a soft waffle perfectly contrasting a cajun spiced crispy chicken thigh. The side hot honey was a perfect addition. My fiancé loved how crispy and flavorful his chicken sandwich was. The cajun candied bacon was also delish!! Overall, this place is so good!

Yelp
The service was great! Everyone was super friendly and the food came out surprisingly fast. The one thing we didn't really like was that it was a "pay first and seat yourself" system. It's a small, but busy place and it seemed like some people wanted to stay and chat. We had to wait a while for our seat, but we eventually got one at the bar! The huevos rancheros is super good! The banh mi benedict wasn't really giving banh mi but delicious nonetheless. The mimosas are okay - not sure if I would recommend.

Tasha S.

Yelp
This was 1st time. The food was okay. My biscuit was beyond dry but the eggs and home fries were good. They need extra help up front. I find it odd that the cashier was on his phone for 2 minutes before saying hello to me then taking orders & not washing his hands. Also, my knife was dirty too. Hire more help w/ customer service and a dish washer too. I'll give it one more chance.

Yelp
I'm always down for a new, hip brunch spot! Met my parents here for brunch last Saturday around 11am. We came between a lull and got lucky and found a nice shaded table outside. They only have a few tables inside with more seating outside. Order at the register and pay then sit and wait for your food. It's kinda self service / service as food is brought to your table when done but any condiments and refills you're expected to get yourself. Like syrup and utensils and refills on drinks. This made for a lot of getting up while we ate. They should bring syrup and ketchup when they come drop off your waffles and home fries since you have to go get coffee refills yourself too... We tried a Benedict, chicken and waffles, the egg salad on everything bagel and a grilled chicken sandwich with home fries. Everything was good. The chicken is delicious, as expected. Home fries were legit, great seasoning, hot and fresh. Really enjoyed them. Nice menu with lots of options and some lighter fare for those who don't indulge - like avocado toast and yogurt parfaits. I think all places need a few things for people who might be gluten free or vegetarian or just on a diet. They have that! They have a great drink menu as well with tons of coffee and non-alcoholic spritzers and drinks to enjoy. I had a delicious grapefruit spritzer. Parking is easy on the streets nearby in a fun part of norfolk. Solid 4 stars.

Yelp
This is a cute little chic food spot in Norfolk. It's not too big so I do not recommend coming here with a large party, but it is nice if you are with one or two other people, you can sit at the bar, a regular table, or a few cozy chairs that has a living room vibe. The location is self seating in you order your food at the register you have to get your own utensils and napkins plus water, which is a little annoying. I think they should already put the utensils and napkins on the table. If not, at least the condiments like syrup and ketchup. The food is very tasty and filling. You can't really beat the price for the experience overall enjoyed everything here!

Yelp
Came here with my friend who was in town for the week. We were looking forward to what this new spot had to offer. Upon entering we were greeted by friendly faces and grabbed a menu to review. Because the restaurant is titled Bird, they have fun different types of Birds that they give you to place at your table, we got Larry Bird. I think this adds a fun touch and brings personality to the establishment. We ordered the Colonial Benedict, Breakfast Tacos, Breakfast Sliders and a couple cocktails. The breakfast sliders were biscuits with sausage, egg, cheese and roasted red pepper. On the biscuit the sausage was really good but the biscuit itself was hard, dry and crumbly which was the opposite of what I wanted and was expecting. The Colonial Benedict had bacon and bacon jam. The egg was over cooked and it just held no personality. It was my least favorite Benedict I've had. The breakfast tacos had eggs, bacon, corn-bean salsa, avocado and smoked Gouda. They were best bite we had paired with their homemade hot sauce which had great flavor and kick. All in all I don't think I'd visit again, the tacos were good and the homemade hot sauce but it wasn't enough to interest me in returning as everything else was disappointing.

Yelp
The food is amazingly good. I had the chicken n waffles with a cup of drip coffee. Chicken is crispy & juicy, not undercooked, waffle is soft & sweet. The hot honey has a bit of a kick but it's not overwhelming. I got there at 11am on a Sunday so it was a little crowded. It is a small restaurant so not the greatest place for a big party but perfect for couples. I got a seat quick since it was just me. Service was quick and the servers were incredibly nice. The Bird gives off great vibes the music selection is great.

Yelp
We have been here 4 times and I think I can confidently gives this place a thumbs up. It has such a laid back vibe inside. The drinks are elevated. They have one of the best Espresso Martinis I've had. My food (chicken sandwich) was great. My wife wasn't crazy about the sesame chicken. Service was always friendly and on time. We will return!

Yelp
Food was pretty good but pretty pricey. I thought the bacon jam on the eggs Benedict was too sweet for me

Yelp
This may be the best cold brew coffee I've found in the 757! It was very smooth and not too sweet. I also enjoyed some breakfast options including the biscuit, home fries, and bacon. The biscuit is a more crumbly biscuit rather than a fluffy biscuit. The home fries are some of the best I've ever had. They're well seasoned, and they have a bit of a kick. The place has really nice vibes and the staff is friendly. I'll definitely be back for brunch!

Yelp
Customer service was on point, asked for recommendation and was given an honest opinion. I ended up getting the egg and cheese biscuit with home fries and a cold brew. Everything came out fresh. The ambience inside of the restaurant was super cute, I ended up enjoying my meal outside. I will definitely come here again to eat. Do not pass. Go run straight there great breakfast brunch spot.

Yelp
We came to kill some time before a dinner nearby and were blown away by this small but incredible gem of a restaurant. The cocktails are unique, fun, and fresh. The little touches (stamped ice cubes, logos on drinks, ""notorious bird"" table markers) really make the place something special. Our bartender, John, was knowledgeable and helped us find drinks we knew we would like. We got the isla jade, the papa oom mow mow, the frequent flyer, and a cheese plate. We will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
I first gotta mention that it's street parking here. When it's a nice day out, I recommend sitting outside. They do not take any reservations. It is first come first serve. I've been here multiple times and every dish was very delicious. I recommend going here earlier in the day on Saturdays and Sundays because it gets quite crowded during brunch time. I highly recommend the huevos rancheros because it's a lot of food for a really good price. Also, it's self-order. Just grab a menu when you enter the restaurant and then order at the bar whenever you are ready. I also recommend drinking a spicy bloody mary (they make their homemade hot sauce, it's really good!). The cappuccino was a great design as well. There are also some seats at the bar if there aren't any tables available.

Yelp
Cozy, seat yourself dive on Colley Ave in Norfolk. Walk up bar counter ordering, items are brought to corresponding Bird themed tent card (ours was Larry Bird). Average prices for above average brunch offerings in an all Avis aesthetic dining room. Breakfast biscuit, chick and waffles, breakfast tacos, and huevos rancheros were yum; side of home fries were also good though my sons were still hungry after eating their meals.

Yelp
My brother and I stopped in here for a quick bite. I loved the setting, it was small, quaint, and service was friendly and fast. You place your order, find a seat and your meal was brought to you. Since the name of the restaurant is "The Bird," you receive a wait ticket with a bird...I thought that was cute. I enjoy eating at different places but don't mind going back if I've enjoyed everything. I definitely recommend eating here.

Yelp
I love the bird, perfect spot to sit and get work done because of the unique service style. You seat yourself and order at the bar, you get your own water & specialty drinks are also ordered at bar. This is a locally owned business which is one of my favorite aspects of the establishment. Food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. i'm not a huge coffee guy, but they have a wonderful selection of drinks in that faction for all of those who indulge. If you are in Norfolk, VA, a stop at The Bird should be a top priority of things to do!

Yelp
This place never fails to satisfy. It's small and mostly self service but definitely worth it. I had the chicken and waffle it is absolutely delicious! The chicken is well seasoned and fried perfectly. I usually don't like chicken thigh but this has very little fat so you never get those chewy fatty spots. The waffle is thin and dense. I like it but if you want crisp and airy this will not meet that expectation. I also tried the avocado toast this go round and it was my least favorite appetizer I had here. It's hard to mess up avocado toast but this is the only fail I've had. Hard pass on the avocado toast. Other alternatives that were outstanding are the candied bacon and bacon jam. My friend had the waffle platter and loved it. Expect long lines and outdoor seating. Matter of fact, plan for outdoor seating and hope you can find a spot inside. I have yet to get a spot inside but the outdoor seating isn't bad when the weather is nice. Go in order at the counter, grab some water, napkins and utensils and wait for them to match your table with your designated table maker. Food comes out quickly. Good food and good company makes a great brunch. Enjoy.

Yelp
We stopped by The Bird for brunch, and it was the perfect cozy spot for a chilly day! I got the fried chicken sandwich with aoli and pickled onions with a side of home fries. It was the perfect handheld, and the corn bun held up well. The fried chicken was so flavorful, crisp and the right amount of tenderness. It's self serve and you order at the counter, but all the staff are so nice and will bring your food. Visit and tell your friends about this place!

Yelp
Nice format, cool ambiance, and excellent mocktail program, but not very convenient when it gets busy. They have an first come order at the register setup that makes it a less than ideal spot if you're looking to linger for some study, a second round, or a coffee refill.

Yelp
Great breakfast, and at a bar! Good selection, very tasty. My wife enjoyed eggs Benedict and I had an omelette with a side of bacon. Popular place - we went in a Monday at 945 am and the tables were full.

Yelp
What a great spot! Their brunch is absolutely amazing, highly recommend their chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros and candied bacon! The chicken was so tender, juicy, and crispy. The huevos rancheros were light and flavorful. The home fries that came as a side were so crispy on the outside and yet fluffy inside. As far as service goes, she was so sweet and helpful despite their unique setup: you have to come up to the front to make you order, grab your own utensils and napkins, as well as water. She will then take care of the rest! The inside was beautiful! Very bird themed, I loved it. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Excellent food & atmosphere. People are wonderful. Outdoor seating available. Son brought me here for Mother's Day breakfast, and it was wonderful. I had the omelet your way- it was delicious. Also a coffee house!

Yelp
Service and environment were beyond excellent. The food I got was good but not great. I got chicken and waffles that were pretty good. The waffle could've been thicker and just a tad crispier. The chicken was excellent tho.

Yelp
Cute place with lots of plants and a nice vibe. Came for brunch and the food was amazing, I got the omelette and my girlfriend got the waffle plate. The house hot sauce was really good too. Staff was helpful and friendly. We'll probably make this a regular stop when we come back to Norfolk.

Yelp
Great food, highly recommend. Small place with outdoor seating. Fantastic homemade hot sauce.

Yelp
I love the vibe in this restaurant. It's in the perfect area and their food is delicious! It's a small and family like environment. Sooo many drink options. Unfortunately, my friend and so did not care much for our drinks, but I will be back again soon to try some different ones. I had the Bourbon Bacon Jam eggs benedict. So yummy! Cooked perfectly :) Everyone was generally extremely nice and attentive.
