Best Mother’s Day Brunch, Drinks, and Gifts in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"I can preorder Mother’s Day bouquets, choose care packages from the larder (which include wines and olive oil cakes), or reserve a dine-in brunch on the restaurant’s covered patio that includes a musical performance by the LADIES; the spot also features a retail space devoted to plants and housewares." - Gabe Guarente

Last night was our 8th wedding anniversary. Omar was absolutely wonderful and appreciated his hospitality. When we stay here next we will definitely come back to see him again. The food was also excellent!

Food was really good and prices were good too.

Grab a quick dinner after a long flight in the hotel restaurant. I have to say it was excellent! The staff were incredibly accommodating and pleasant. They gave us a lot of great tips for our stay in Seattle and to top it off, the food was delicious! Everyone wants to eat somewhere other than the hotel restaurant but I promise you won't be disappointed!

It's a nice place to grab a late meal while at the hotel. We got in to Seattle a bit later in the evening and our options were limited...but The Bistro was open until 10pm. The menu is limited but there are a few decent options. The price...for where it's located was actually reasonable. I got the Flatbread Pizza for $12 and my dad got the burger and fries for around the same price. We don't drink alcohol, but we sipped on water and diet Pepsi...turned on an NHL playoff game, talked, planned out some sights to see, and just relaxed while taking in the atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Omar was a lot of fun to talk to and very nice. My dad accidentally knocked over his crutches and from across the room yelled, "I'LL GET THAT...YOU JUST STAY DOWN!" When it was time for the check Omar made us feel like family as he told us about the city and his life. Overall, it's a convenient spot in the hotel and a nice, quaint, reasonably priced spot to grab a drink and enjoy some food...and if Omar is working...have a fun conversation.

Google
We came down for breakfast during our hotel stay. I ordered the breakfast burrito thinking it would be something frozen thrown into the oven. Although the burrito was huge and tasted amazing, just be prepared that everything is extremely expensive! I guess that's to be expected for downtown Seattle. A little bowl of cereal is $7, for example. Everything has a high price and adds up quick! That being said, overall taste is excellent!

Good breakfast and happy hour prices. Photos are of happy hour menu, burger, and pint of mack n hack.

I ate here the first night I check in. It was 30 minutes before they closed. The staff was nothing short of amazing. They are the reason I came back for breakfast and dinner on my last day at the hotel. I like that they have a variety of foods for all types of diets. I tried the bbq chicken flatbread & glazed salmon for dinner. Both were exactly what I needed. Thank you for making me feel at home away from home.

Yelp
Me and few of my colleagues met up for debriefing on our last night on business trip earlier this month. Some of us haven't been to Downtown Seattle in years, and had no idea that they actually have a full dinner menu at The Bistro. On this work trip, it would have made more sense to have had our accommodations booked closer to Sea-Tac but that was out of any of our control. There's several restaurants and bars spread out in downtown, but this one seemed to be the hangout for the majority of my colleagues. Plenty of seats, lounge chairs, and bar seating too. We had a really good time! Because of the 3 hour difference it was getting late at night and we're all hungry for dinner. Service was excellent. Food was great, more than what we had anticipated. Also we asked for to-go containers. Overall, this bar was a lot of fun!

Yelp
Awesome customer service Food comes out nice and hot Prices are reasonable and a nice variety of items to choose from Venues is clean and well decorated Very convenient for hotel guests

Yelp
3.5 stars Friendly service but slowwww to get food. About 25 minutes from order time to getting breakfast. Prices are reasonable at around $11-$12. I got French toast. My dad got the breakfast burrito. Portions are small. And there are no sides. I'd get the tater tots or something to turn it into a full meal. Taste is fine. Nothing you'll remember though.

Yelp
Mary Jane's service was fabulous!! She was so cheerful and engaging. She's very attentive as well.

Yelp
Perfect spot to grab a quick bite before a concert. Small affordable and friendly staff too.

Susan L.

Yelp
The food was perfect and service was fast and waiter was super personable! Highly recommend for breakfast. Bit know that it is counter service and then they bring your food. Full Starbucks coffee service.

Yelp
The bistro burger tasted like it was cooked a few hours ago or yesterday. French fries were hot but the burger was lukewarm. Tried the IPA seasonal tap option and it was totally flat. Server switched it out for the Amber but it was flat too. They need to clean their tap lines and get a new CO2 tank. 1 server was really nice but the others seemed like they didn't want to be there. Seek other places to eat and drink.

Yelp
This is based completely on their burger (which was ordered to go). Checked in at around 8:30pm and was starving! The location of the hotel is close to 3rd Avenue where we were told to avoid SPECIFICALLY after 11pm as it can get quite sketch.... soooo dine in it was! I ordered the Bistro Burger ($14 as of 6/2021 If I recall). This burger was AWESOME as other reviews have mentioned. The burger patty was cooked well and the cheese was perfectly melted. Fries were also great! For the price I could not complain and would 100% order again if I came back!

Yelp
The best food I've had in a Courtyard by Marriott. The staff is friendly and professional. The ambiance is relaxing.

Yelp
Loved the happy hour here at the Bistro while staying at the Courtyard Marriott (Pioneer Square). My husband and I ordered the fry trio that came with different dipping sauces and the wing platter. The fries were so big and crispy! The dipping sauces were nothing special in my opinion but the delicious fries didn't need a dip. The wings come in different flavors, we tried the buffalo and BBQ. They were surprisingly good. Wasn't expecting them to be that good for a hotel restaurant. They were crispy in the outside and juicy on the inside and the platter came with carrots and celery and ranch! So good.

Yelp
This is not going to be just a review but also a tribute to the human spirit and positive attitude during the pandemic. The Bistro is functioning in a limited fashion, meaning limited menu, limited capacity, etc. The menu is fairly basic, a few breakfast sandwiches, eggs in any way you prefer, oatmeal, a bagel, egg white frittata etc. Of course, coffee and juices provided as well. Food qualify is decent, prepared fresh, served quickly enough. What really stood out for us, during the few days we stayed at the Courtyard and eaten breakfast at The Bistro was the overall attitude, demeanor and hospitality of the (I guess that is his position) the restaurant manager, Chris Newell. Chris, despite the fact that he had to wear multiple hats (taking and processing the orders, retrieving the food from the kitchen, cleaning up tables etc) maintained a positive, welcoming attitude and always willing to come back and check to see how things are with your food, if you need anything else, providing good tips for the city sights etc. I could tell that with the hotel barely functioning, I assume most employees not knowing what tomorrow will bring, the stress level must be high. None of the reception staff and Chris showed any signs of it. We got engaged in a few conversations about the state of business, life in general and I just declare here, publicly, that people (don't want to use the word "employees") like Chris are rare, a true asset to any company, more so to a place that is in the hospitality business. Chris could ha e just handled our order, brought our food, asked if we needed anything else and we would still be happy with it. But Chris's demeanor, attitude and how he truly made us feel like valuable guests was above and beyond; he didn't have to do all that but you can tell that is the way his personality is and he was a man with great manners and top quality professionalism. People like Chris Newell would make me come back specifically to this hotel as such qualifies are not only rare but admirable.

Yelp
Sorry no picture here, but I had a great experience! I was staying at the Marriott and was not in the mood to go out in the city. I decided to check out The Bistro. I made it for happy hour, but it was a little more of a limited menu than I expected. However, the good pour on their gin and tonic made up for it. I decided on the simple Bistro Burger and I was pleasantly surprised. This square burger had just the right amount of fat, but not overly greasy. This was placed on a perfect bun. The crinkle cut fries made me nervous, but they were perfectly fried. Honestly it was a tasty burger. The bartender here was extremely friendly. I would certainly be back again. Had there been more options on the menu I world have given this place five stars.

Yelp
I got the loaded tots and they were delicious. But it was difficult to get service. We would sit for awhile with menus put away and with empty drinks before somebody came over to take orders. It was good in a pinch, but I wouldn't go again.

Yelp
Located within the Courtyard hotel, I came here for breakfast while staying at the hotel. Order first and they bring you food. I had eggs benedict and coffee, I would have preferred my eggs to be runny and could have used more sauce but service here was very good. After I ordered my food, they realized they don't have anymore regular English muffin and came to my table sounding really sorry if they could substitute to whole grain English muffin. He sounded so apologetic, I felt bad for making him feel that way. I was just observing staff as I had nothing much to do and noticed a manager working harder than any other staff. I think he was the manager as he was wearing a tie but he would go out and help staff to clean the table and was working harder than any other staff. Server was very friendly too. Breakfast price was reasonable, may not be the best food but I enjoyed their excellent service

Yelp
A typical hotel restaurant. Overpriced disappointing food. Service was ok. Food cannot be delivered to your room, so be prepared to go down to get it. Starbucks coffee is available, a decent yogurt and fresh fruit is available in the morning. Staff is friendly, the price and food is not their fault. I wouldn't plan to go here unless you have to. I also wouldn't go here unless you are at the hotel and are a rewards member and have credit or have rewards.

Plain J.

Yelp
There should be a circle in hell reserved for the Marriott executive forcing the bistro folks to call pre-sliced deli meat and precooked potatoes "corned beef hash". Seeing it on the menu and then on the plate. Bummer.

Nichole R.

Yelp
Food was a bit pricey but good. Service was slow at first however Mary Jane was wonderful!

Yelp
DO NOT EAT AT THE RESTURANT (THE BISTRO) IN THIS HOTEL!!!!! I ordered a salad to go at the restaurant. With tip, the total was $18.52. THEY CHARGED MY DEBIT CARD $1852!!!!!! causing it to overdraft a few hundred dollars and get dinged for multiple overdraft charges. I got the run around from the The Bistro saying that I have to get it resolved with the bank since the charge already went through, BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN ERROR. Perhaps the server that day ran off with the money I don't know. All day I have been going back and forth with the resturant, the hotel managment as well as Marriott corporate to get it resolved and all I have been getting is the run around. This is totally unacceptable on all accounts. I should not have to do mulitple hours of personal legwork to get an issue resolve that was done by potential fraudulent behavior by the hotel restuarant.

Yelp
Staying at Courtyard Pioneer Square for a few days on work travel. Nice hotel, well maintained, great location with downtown and public transit proximity. Bistro restaurant leaves much to be desired, at least for breakfast. No buffet options, just a (somewhat limited) menu that is order at counter - fast casual style. I ordered lemon ricotta pancakes, and they were dry, not at all moist and delicious as I would expect. Prices were somewhat high, but likely commensurate with downtown Seattle (2 pancakes and OJ with tip was $16). For the price and qualify, I would suggest finding another breakfast eatery downtown instead.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, but that is all that it has going for it. We stayed in the connected hotel for 4 nights at the end of June of 2021. The host sat us, took our drink order, then ignored us. People who came in after us received their drinks within minutes of them sitting down. The waitress who was working completely ignored us. After about 20 minutes, we got up and left. This is by far the worst we have ever been treated in a Marriott property. I have filed a complaint with corporate.

Stephen C.

Yelp
Can't even answer the phone! Called twice with no connection. Front desk was no help. How can you rank a place that you can't order or talk with
google avatar

Midori P.

Yelp
3 stars thanks to the good service. Seevers are super nice and they will bring the food up to your room without adding any charges like most hotels. However, food was quite disappointing. I ordered a herb chicken breast with broccolini. Chicken was very dry and broccolini was charred. Did not enjoy the food at all.

Michelle R.

Yelp
It is so hard to find anyplace open on Mondays so we have them a try. We went for dinner. The bar tender/waiter, Omar was wonderful! The food was ordered special due to my friend's allergies. They were knowledgeable and accommodating. The next morning we went down to grab a quick bite to eat and the coffee staff was great! Again, very knowledgeable concerning allergies. The food was great!

Matthew Q.

Yelp
It's a bare bones crew running a bar at a hotel. In the morning there was one staff on kiosk, and one cook. At night, one bartender, one cook. Service is expensive and long
google avatar

Monika C.

Yelp
Great little addition to the Courtyard Marriott. Came here for breakfast both mornings during my stay and had dinner here one night as well. For breakfast I sat in one of the booths that has its own TV and got to watch CNN while enjoying my breakfast. Their selection is similar to most Marriotts and the service was prompt and courteous. For dinner I sat over at a table by one of the big TVs and enjoyed a nice dinner and glass of wine on a quiet night. If you are staying at this Marriott the Bistro is awesome. Everything you can want w/o having to leave the hotel, including a full coffee bar with Starbucks coffee!

Yelp
This review is based on multiple visits. I ate here with my family numerous times for breakfast and dinner. The thing that really struck me as odd is that on a few occasions I had to stand at the coffee area and order from the menu there before I was seated. In general, the service was friendly and the place was decorated nicely. The extra thick bacon was incredible as well as the crispy chunks of breakfast potatoes. They serve Starbucks which is a plus. During the different times I ate there I had a steak and BBQ pork ribs and they were both OK. This place gets slow sometimes so one person may act as the server, bartender, barista and manager at the same time. The seating is a little to modern for me by trying to squeeze four people to share a small round table.

Yelp
This review is based on a number of visits as a traveler from out of town. 1. Great service. The people here are friendly, helpful and generous with their time and efforts. 4 different people, different times and experience was all A+. I never had to chase anyone down, ever. I came in at ~9:45pm once and even though they close at 10pm, I still had a great experience. 2. Food is not "Special". It's good, simple, regular food. That is tasty. Away from home, at a hotel, I'm not looking for special. I'm looking for simple tasty food. 3. Price is ok. I didn't think it was expensive or cheap, middle of the road. 4. Great seating, place to meet and work on projects. They have tables, the bar, and these circular seating areas with televisions. 5. Clean. 6. No gluten free menu/items :(. They did accommodate by removing the bread and putting the effort in to clean the grill well. I appreciated this greatly. Overall, I'm really happy with this place. It may not be a place locals go to based on the average rating. For this traveler, it was great.

Yelp
Nothing special! Meet up with a friend for a quick drink. Drink was ok but a bit over priced. Didn't order any food.
google avatar

Maridel A.

Yelp
Thank you to the gentlemen that served us our last drink just when you're about to close. I know it's late and you're ready to check out but you were nice enough to make two delicious Moscow mules. Great service, friendly and nice conversation.
google avatar

Kim D.

Yelp
The food is good but skip the Starbucks. I should have known when the employee looked up instructions to make a caramel macchiotto. It tasted so horrible that I could not drink it and got in the car to head to a local Starbucks. The hotel manager refunded the cost of the macchiotto.

Samantha V.

Yelp
April was our server, she was super nice, the happy hour was excellent, we got chicken tenders with fries and macaroni bites and drinks, very reasonably priced.
google avatar

Yelp
The breakfast is outstanding and the staff members make you feel not so far from home. The evening atmosphere is the same. A must do for outstanding dining.
google avatar

Steve H.

Yelp
Grabbed a glass of vino here while waiting on a friend who was staying in the hotel. The whole experience was average; nothing great to report, nothing bad to report. Nice view of the street from a window table; good place to people-watch on a grungy Seattle day... Good location and accommodating staff. 3.3 stars.
google avatar

Stephanie D.

Yelp
I had to sit waiting for 25 min for a to-go bagel and cream cheese. They were prioritizing everything sit down. I appreciate a busy morning, but it would have taken someone 2 seconds to pop it in the toaster while they were making everything else. I would have ordered a full breakfast had I known it would take so long.

Yelp
Nice little bar on 2nd downtown! Went to the Marriot connected next door for a conference and then went here for happy hour drinks afterward. Very nicely decorated bar, great for groups, business meetings, and they serve food and drinks. The prices are good, staff is courteous and friendly, the appetizers are really great and portions are plentiful! I would recommend trying the quesadillas and the humus platter..both very good and filling! :) They also have really good happy hour specials and they pour drinks on the stiffer side..definitely a plus! I would come back again :)
google avatar

Daren D.

Yelp
I often walk by this place on my way to Trabant Coffee & Chai. I decided to check out their happy hour between jobs the other week: 1) It's a nice, clean, yet, simple modern bar with 2 screens showing football and airy/spacious vibe. 2) Staff was pleasant, although it was kind of awkward when I finished my food and looked around; towards the bar, the bartendar/waiter sort of leaned backwards from behind the building column and tilted his head to check on me. 3) The HH grub I selected was solid. I enjoyed it and the waiter had good rec's (although I skipped the bacon pizza dish). I had the tortilla chips (homemade?) & dips and the garlic fries; $3 and $4, respectively. There's also the $5 tier (which the bacon pizza is in---who would want that... bacon...). Good food! And those garlic fries are above-average and, IMO, beat Safeco Field's and others. I think it's because of the (fresh?) garlic-to-salt ratio. 4) My gin & tonic was a bit stiffer than prevous G&T's I recall. Perhaps Akvile H is right about the stiffer drinks! 5) Nice seating and rather easy to watch the games on TV.

Yelp
I have unfortunately have spent a big chunk of the past year living out of hotels and ordering room service. Typically I expect mediocre food, the trade off is not leaving my room! This was surprisingly one of the better experiences I've had! I've only had their dinner food options: The NY strip Steak was cooked well and the veggie side was surprisingly nice (asparagus, fingerling potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and mushrooms - I asked for no olives). The Santa Fe salad was fresh and had a great taste. The hot wings were delicious and filling. If you're considering grabbing a bite while staying at this hotel, this room service will actually leave you satisfied!

Jaswant A. S.

Yelp
Was staying at the Marriott so I went down about six o'clock or so for the happy hour and immediately ran into some folks I knew - small world. Well, not really - we were all here for the same event - So this bar served its purpose as a place for all of us to chill out and hang out and meet colleagues that were also in town. The beers kept flowing and we all had a good time catching up and meeting new folks. Can't say much about the food because both times we gathered here we didn't order any. The bartender was very attentive and "on it" even with the number of customers she had to deal with. Nice bar, there are also lots of chairs and small tables to lounge at. I really like the casual atmosphere of this place and I usually don't take too much notice of hotel bars but this one was quite nice.
google avatar

Sandra P.

Yelp
Food is better than average for bar food, but the 5 star rating is because of the service provided by Omar. This man is outstanding!
google avatar

Camille R.

Yelp
Nice place to hang out for happy hour. Tall bar tables by the window where you can people watch. Good happy hour prices $4 - $7. Parmesan artichoke hearts with marinara sauce had goat cheese inside of them which made them even better. Good value for the food, quick service.
google avatar

Warner R.

Yelp
Ate here for proximity purposes, thought it was delicious. Staff was super nice. Prices were great. I would eat here again.

Mary S.

Yelp
We were so grateful to find anyplace open on New Year's Eve but were happily surprised that the food we ordered was really good and the service was amazing.

Yelp
I am not a negative yelper; I looked forward to coming back to my hotel after a long day of sightseeing and having a drink at the hotel bar. Bottom line, I don't want to have to ask for your name, I don't want to have to chase you down after a half hour to get another drink, and I absolutely don't want an attitude from a 20 some year old waitress who looks like she wants to be somewhere else on a Saturday night. get another job Amalie. I also don't think three drinks should cost $30, I might as well stay at the W. Fix your bartender and lower your prices. if you have any questions, message me.

Amanda S.

Yelp
The waiter was rude. While asking what we wanted to order he left to help someone else. We left our menus and walked out.
google avatar

Cheyne M.

Yelp
One of the most modern Courtyard's I've stayed at thanks to The Bistro... good for breakfast (although expensive) and happy hour (I assume they serve some sort of dinner / bar food, but I didn't check)... a nice area of the hotel to relax, eat, read, watch TV, and have a few drinks... I hope all Courtyard Marriott's adopt The Bistro --- makes a hotel stay much more enjoyable.
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
A bit on the pricey side, only a so-so beer selection, but food has been very good every time I've tried it. Cheddar and Roast Beef Au Jus is recommended.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
I've only ever been here (in the bar area) for Wappow happy hour socials. It's a cute place, and has a good selection of drinks for happy hour, as well as food. The quesadillas looked really tasty. If you go for happy hour, get martinis. You won't regret it. :)

Yelp
11 months after my review someone from the restaurant yelped me that I am confusing Bistro with a restaurant at a different hotel. He/She states they have never served garlic mashed or portabello sandwiches and all their bartenders know what "neat" is. Hmm let me think about that for half a NO. Either the bistro has rogue sous chefs making mediocre off menu items late at night or my group was abducted by aliens and teleported to a different restaurant while we road the elevator down to the lobby. And why is the restaurant 11 months later scouring yelp and trying to fix their reviews?

Ben M.

Yelp
Slow service. Bad food. Overpriced, even at happy hour. We waited almost 15 minutes for the waitress to come by, after being assured when we walked in for happy hour that she would be right with us. It wasn't here fault though. She was the only person on staff, with at least 5 tables + bar customers to take care of. This was a lesson that just because its happy hour, doesn't mean you're getting a great deal. We paid $6 for 2 small bbq pork sliders, $3 for garlic fries with way too much garlic, $6 for 6 bbq wings. None of them were very good. There are many happy hours in the area, so if you're a guest at the hotel, just venture out a bit.
