Yelp
This is not going to be just a review but also a tribute to the human spirit and positive attitude during the pandemic.
The Bistro is functioning in a limited fashion, meaning limited menu, limited capacity, etc.
The menu is fairly basic, a few breakfast sandwiches, eggs in any way you prefer, oatmeal, a bagel, egg white frittata etc. Of course, coffee and juices provided as well.
Food qualify is decent, prepared fresh, served quickly enough.
What really stood out for us, during the few days we stayed at the Courtyard and eaten breakfast at The Bistro was the overall attitude, demeanor and hospitality of the (I guess that is his position) the restaurant manager, Chris Newell.
Chris, despite the fact that he had to wear multiple hats (taking and processing the orders, retrieving the food from the kitchen, cleaning up tables etc) maintained a positive, welcoming attitude and always willing to come back and check to see how things are with your food, if you need anything else, providing good tips for the city sights etc.
I could tell that with the hotel barely functioning, I assume most employees not knowing what tomorrow will bring, the stress level must be high. None of the reception staff and Chris showed any signs of it. We got engaged in a few conversations about the state of business, life in general and I just declare here, publicly, that people (don't want to use the word "employees") like Chris are rare, a true asset to any company, more so to a place that is in the hospitality business.
Chris could ha e just handled our order, brought our food, asked if we needed anything else and we would still be happy with it. But Chris's demeanor, attitude and how he truly made us feel like valuable guests was above and beyond; he didn't have to do all that but you can tell that is the way his personality is and he was a man with great manners and top quality professionalism.
People like Chris Newell would make me come back specifically to this hotel as such qualifies are not only rare but admirable.
