"The casual Silver Lake drinking hole—and historic queer space—has a solid menu filled with things not often associated with neighborhood bars like crab tartine and braised rock cod. But your focus needs to be on the burger.  Black Cat certainly didn’t invent raclette cheese, but whoever decided to put it on top of their juicy burger deserves a medal of recognition. When combined with the sauteed onions and tangy pickles on top, the result is gooey, salty, and sweet—and an ideal accompaniment to whatever you’re drinking." - Brant Cox

Went for breakfast with a friend today. We arrived at 10 and didn't leave till 1pm. The restaurant is so cozy, it felt like I was in my own home, so we stayed and had a Beautiful meal and caught up with each other's lives. I highly recommend it!!!!!

Come for the great food - stay for the great vibes. This is some of the best breakfast you can get in the state. Its hard to believe they are able to offer such a high quality meal for such reasonable money in 2024 - all without cutting a single corner. My first impression was very mom-and-pop, but after seeing the lengths they go to to bake their own breads and plate dishes like a fancy resort might, I realized it was something even better. It feels like a culinary professor built these dishes, but with an artists understanding of how to plate them - perfect harmony. I found myself biting into my sandwich thinking this isn't breakfast food - this is breakfast cuisine and smiling to myself. Inside its extremely warm and local feeling like a mom-and pop might be, but with a nice dash of "lounge" added in where you can relax and soak up some tunes or read a book over your coffee. When my meal was finished I felt comfortable and encouraged to hang out and relax for a few. When I went to leave the owner asked my name. He didn't need to ask if the food was good because he KNEW the food was good. He could tell just by looking at me. You get the impression they care about their community on a level that goes beyond just money or service. Extremely personable - A rarity for a team so young. In an age of corporate restaurant franchises and fast food drive-thrus, The Black Cat has retained an incredibly important and valuable piece of the old world: Passion. You absolutely owe it to yourself to give it a try one morning soon.

Last minute decision to come here this morning been living in scituate 9 years now and never tried it. Man that chicken waffle sandwich was the bomb. Fresh ingredients too. I'll be back.

Ran out of several items. Not organized at all. Run by young teenagers it seems. For price and service I wouldn’t recommend

We visited a few weeks ago and was so impressed with the experience we decided to come back. We traveled over an hour just to have one of the best breakfast we've ever had besides home breakfast. The avocado toast is out of this world. Thanks for the experience.

Yelp
I finally stopped in at this breakfast restaurant after wanting to and driving by it for years. I really wanted to like it because I love breakfast restaurants and this spot is local. It was early and I was the only patron. I'd never been here before so I needed a moment at counter ordering to figure out what I wanted to eat. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with eggs cooked over easy and a coffee. Cost $13.90 for these 2 items. The coffee was really bland and not a satisfying cup of coffee. The sandwich arrived and my first thought was that it was small. I bit into sandwich and realized my eggs were cooked hard all the way through which made it all very dry. Disappointing when I ordered my eggs over easy. I was the only patron still and I saw the gentleman who was the cook. I asked him if they cooked all the sandwiches the same way as this was my first time here and I ordered my eggs over easy. He offered to recook the eggs and I declined because I felt bad. I realized that there were no hash browns or anything else of value that would warrant spending $13.90 plus tip. I ate my dry sandwich and sipped on my weak coffee and was catching up on events on my phone. The vibe inside was an empty place playing country folk music. I was still the only patron in the restaurant. I clicked on a friend's video of her daughter skating and there was music. The music was playing a bit and I tried turning it down but my side buttons were not pressing in to turn it down. The music could be heard but was not loud. I kept watching with the music playing because I was the only person in the restaurant. Then I noticed that the restaurants music was turned up even louder. No reason to turn up the restaurant music as it was at a good level previously. The only thing I could think of is someone turned up the music of restaurant to be louder than music playing on video. Let me be clear that the music on video was a respectful beautiful song for a skating competition. I finished watching my video, gathered my belongings and left. Still the only patron at Black Cat, on a very busy well traveled road. Overall it was a disappointing experience due to mediocre food at prices too high. Too bad because I really wanted to like it. I will always support local businesses and restaurants but I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.

Yelp
The Black Cat is a hole in the wall diner with a nice selection of delicious and creative breakfast and grilled lunch sandwiches. For lunch sandwiches, the Graham hit the spot. The ham, cheese, and jam was an amazing savory and sweet combo. The buttered toast was perfection. I was also a big fan of the Coleman breakfast sandwich. The apple paired nicely with the onions. Add in a well seasoned sausage patty along with a gooey egg and one of the best toasted English muffins ever and you hit breakfast sandwich bliss. The atmosphere is very laid back with a large counter that faces an open kitchen for a true diner experience. The tie dye shirts, cat decor, and mix of bluegrass and Grateful Dead music brings the hippie vibes that makes it more interesting than your typical diner. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Delicious sunny side up eggs!! (With crispy lacey bits around the edge) and nicely cooked linguiça. Some avocado slices and an english muffin rounded it out . Fun signs and artwork!

Yelp
The Black Cat is a laidback, hipster restaurant with music to complete the vibe with some different twist to breakfast meals that my wife & granddaughter enjoyed.

Yelp
Under new ownership. Great food and fast service. We will be going back again. We had Steak and Eggs, French toast, Pancakes, Home fries.

Yelp
Our family first heard about this new donut and breakfast sandwich place from our friends' raving reviews on FB and WOW this place deserves every praise! We took home a selection of sandwiches and donuts and each bite is delicious. The chorizo and cheese taco which is more like a quesadilla is surprisingly spicy. We ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on English muffin with a creamy airy garlic lemon mayo. The bites were so rich we barely had room for the donuts. Definitely save room for the donuts! The dough based donuts are slightly crispy with a soft middle. One had a maple sugar icing that was light airy and creamy with slices of sugared apples on top. I thought it was a fancy cider donut but it is called a maple donut at the store.

Yelp
Decided to check this place out. Was a relaxed vibe, good music, food is all made from scratch - no mixes or frozen stuff here. "Know your farmers know your food". Excellent pancakes like Mom made, a truly good cup of coffee and homemade English muffins just to mention a few. Give these

Gwedolyn R.

Yelp
Great food and thoughtful staff. Will go again soon and often. Casual, comfortable atmosphere.

Yelp
They don't make pancakes, but they do make their own English muffins, which sounds like a draw on the later, but sadly not in this case. I love a simple breakfast Sammy, but the homemade English muffin it was served on was mealy and dry.

Yelp
Stopped in to try The Black Cat for breakfast. No tables. Just counter seats. Not too comfortable. Service was excellent. Friendly and helpful with recommendations. Ordered eggs over medium, muffins, French toast and the chorizo tacos. The eggs were made perfectly. Muffins and French toast were "eh." Muffins were bready and the French toast was lacking. Just bread dusted with cinnamon sugar. The chorizo tacos were excellent. We plan to return to try the other items on the menu.

Yelp
Food is really good, service was okay, but stools are not comfortable, wish they had tables instead!

Yelp
Been to the Black Cat three times. Two times too many. Unfriendly, unaccommodating and overall disappointing service experience each time. Food is fair but not worth the unfriendly experience. Additionally, not a good vibe in there. Quiet and no energy. Place could be a home run with a little attention to details and a smile.

HungryTraveler S.

Yelp
Great food and very creative. I think they need a little bit more "sparkle" and uniqueness in their menu and that will overcome the bland real estate location.

Yelp
Super fast, super friendly and owned by the nicest people around. Not expensive. The breakfast is just amazing. Quality can't be beat. Highly recomended.

Yelp
This is by far my new favorite breakfast spot. They are so friendly in there and the place is adorned with awesome art. Wicked clean and wicked good people. My new weekend tradition!

Yelp
we moved to the area 4 months ago and have been searching for a killer breakfast spot .... The search is over! Breakfast sandwiches that you'd never dream up on your own. I had the Spicy Q which delivers on the spicy hot! My wife had The Coleman on rye toast. So flavorful, but we also got a side of apple spice pancakes that were amazing. It's bar seating only, the coffee is great and they even have paper copies of the Globe and NY Times. Nice touch!

Susan S.

Yelp
The food is delicious with their home made breads and you can enjoy watching them creating meals and baking while you dine. They also serve turkey bacon, making it a go to for me. The baked goods are hard to pass up as you walk to your stool. Great to enjoy with coffee as they prepare your breakfast!

Yelp
Great little place! Pancakes are absolutely beautiful and delicious! Almost like crepes. Support your local businesses!

Yelp
Great little breakfast spot. Food was delicious and staff was very friendly. We went early around 8am with our toddler and it was the perfect time- not busy. There is only counter/ bar seating so if you have kids that need a high chair, there was only one available so bring your own if you have one that can attach to a counter. We saw lots of take out orders too as they have a great list of breakfast sandwiches. We will be back. So happy we finally tried this place.
