We went back two more times while visiting again. It was again, busy, but we made the wait. For starters we got the fried bacon and fried okra.
The first time I got their porkchops (fried) and they were excellent. Moist, fully cooked, seasoned well but smothered in the gravy. It was good, but in excessive gravy. If I do it again I would ask for it on the side. Delicious, just too much for me.
Fried bacon was cool, but I wouldn't do it again. It became a kind of slimy mess inside with a nice crust outside. Cool to try, but not ordering it next time. The sauce was not good. Even from the folks that liked honey and tobasco (tobasco is trash hot sauce, just fyi) they didn't like the combo.
The okra was good, not slimy on the inside.
The 2nd time we went I got the Chicken and Grits. Oh. My. Gosh. The cajun sauce stole the show. Over anything I had there, it was simply plate-licking delicious. The chicken was crispy even under the sauce and the grits were in a fried patty and were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. A bit of the chicken with the smooth grits and that sauce...oh man. The grits haters at the table even said it was amazing. This feels like a menu item that would get skipped by a lot of folks. Don't skip it, try it.
Great place.
