The Kitchen at Atomic’s Jackson Stamper shares his favorite Las Vegas restaurants | Eater Vegas

"A contemporary spot serving standout dishes such as a grilled Spanish octopus that is spicy but well balanced; also experiments with fusion touches, like a bouillabaisse featuring Vietnamese flavors." - Susan Stapleton

After reading all the good reviews and looking at pictures we were excited to visit for our date night. We made a reservation and were seated quickly. We ordered a couple cocktails, which were quite good so we were excited to try the food! Sadly the food didn't live up to the hype at all. We've been to many Mediterranean restaurants before so we are very familiar with the cuisine. Our appetizers (Spinach and Feta Borek and Lamb Manti) were slightly cold and lacking flavor and freshness, with a strange overly spicy olive tapenade on the side. Then came our main entrees of Striped Bass. It was supposed to be accompanied with saganaki, feta, and lemon-olive oil sauce. When we got our (very small servings) we noticed there was no saganaki (pan fried greek cheese) in the dish so we asked the waiter. He spoke the chef and said that the dish was simply just inspired by saganaki! We felt a bit mislead by it being listed on the menu and figured it should be included with the dish. Sadly the desserts weren't good either with the chocolate cake being dry and crumbly and the lemon dish being very generic and lacking freshness. For such a beautifully decorated and modern style restaurant we were very disappointed by the mediocre food and the service wasn't anything to write home about either. Luckily there are many other great restaurants nearby that offer better food at a better value!

I recently dined at The Black Sheep in Greenville and overall had a really pleasant experience. The vibe is nice and slightly upscale without feeling stuffy, which made for a great night out. I started with the cabbage salad as an appetizer and absolutely loved it — fresh, flavorful, and a standout dish for me. For my entrée, I ordered the lamb rack. The lamb itself was average, but the orzo and olive tzatziki that came with it were amazing and really elevated the dish. For dessert, I tried the chocolate cake. It was alright — not bad, but not as memorable as the earlier courses. Overall, the service and atmosphere were great, and while not every dish was a hit for me, there were definitely some highlights that would possibly bring me back. A solid spot in Greenville, especially if you’re looking for a nice, slightly upscale dining experience.

This place was beautiful, well thought out. Coming from places like New York and California I can honestly say a new bar has been set for the level of service in Greenville. Palmer our server was exceptional. The white glove service for the flatware and stemware really took me back to a special place in New York. The food on the other hand.... we didn't have any savory food that night I was really excited about the dessert menu so we ordered everything they had, but we were pretty sad afterwards. The Sweet potato donut was filled with unseasoned yams and the dough itself was very tough. The macaroons were made perfectly but tasted of pure food coloring. The custard well I can't even find the words. We were told it was made with milk instead of cream but appeared to be watery and or undercooked and flavorless. The cake was the best item on the dessert menu but it was cold and swimming in chocolate sauce. I'm sure the savory portion of the menu is great since I see nonstop amazing reviews about it but I'm just on the fence about going back to take the chance of trying it at such a high price tag.

WOW 🤩 what wonderful addition to Greenville’s culinary community! The atmosphere is first class, omotenashi 🇯🇵the staff worked together to anticipate and respond to make the evening pleasurable. The meal was prepared well and delicious 😋 when you’re ready for a treat, head for the black sheep 🐏 the food and s, service is something Greenville is sure to be proud of 🥰 ^^ountain ^^an Enjoying life, one day at a time 🙏 Revisted the black sheep last night. The bar was occupied, and I was seated in the Cocktail Lounge. WOW delightful place to enjoy cocktails, unequaled from my experience in Greenville. Started with a Mojito, fresh mint, and a slice of lime. just the right sweetness for my taste. NEXT I was soon offered a seat at the bar; however, I was so comfortable and enjoying where I was being served in the cocktail lounge. Mari & Leah, thank you :))) I appreciate being served individually and exploring cocktails that I want to try. Mari is a MASTER, i think they say, Mixologist <3 And the black sheep has a representative variety of fresh-squeezed juices, fruits & and veggies. Ask Mari anything ha ha and Leah is so SPECIAL as well. Leah explored my request for a Hemingway daiquiri with Mari, born in Cuba, perfect. The black sheep was prepared with fresh grapefruit, fresh lime, and a maraschino cherry. All the ingredients were there for my first Papa Dobie. After reading more of Ernest Hemingway today, I was served his favorite Cuban daiquiri. I understand, he usually ordered a double, or two, ha ha. A delightful cocktail. Fresh and simple syrup made with pure cane sugar.. As the bar thinned out, I was offered my favorite seat at the front end of the bar and greeted by a couple from Pickens. The staff was kind and generous and allowed us to enjoy finishing our drinks. Mari had served me a French 75. Do you know how the French 75 was named? AI ha ha Thank you, the black sheep, for another enjoyable evening. especially your kindness and generosity> Omotenashi< look it up ^^ountain ^^an enjoying life, one day at a time

One of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve ever been in. The atmosphere is sexy and dim perfect for a girls night out or date night. The cocktails we all tried were absolutely out of this world. Seriously. We joked that we wished we could take them to-go in a gallon container. We, a group of 4, shared 6 items split between each part of the menu and each one went back to the kitchen completely scraped. Jonathan, our server, was soooooo sweet and attentive. The design, the service, the drinks, the food, even the playlist over the speakers, everything there was not a single miss in our experience. 10/10!

Update Dec 6 2025: This is becoming my favorite restaurant in Greenville. Black sleep has IMMEDIATELY claimed the title of best Mediterranean in Greenville. Our server Palmer was super friendly and informative. The food was spectacular. They're going to rotate their menu so, if you go soon, you need to get the following: lamb appetizer (the pickled raisins somehow brought the entire dish together), the zucchini dish, and the lamb entree. Not far behind were the muhamara and the wagyu kebab. The drinks were also fantastic, especially the golden ark. Soon it will become difficult to get a reservation for this place, so get in while you can.

First experience at The Black Sheep and definitely NOT our last! Everything about this restaurant was flawless. Walk into a beautifully decorated restaurant that screams class and elegance. We were quickly greeted by our waiter Will who proved to be amazing in every way from guidance with the menu, attentiveness, and a vibe as if we had known him for years. Then came the food… as beautiful as every plate and drink was that was quickly overshadowed by its amazing taste. If I had to say anything negative it would be the fact that we were able to get a reservation easily which I know will not be the case in a few months when more GVL foodies try this amazing spot. I’m sure the entire staff is amazing but I can promise that when we make our reservations moving forward we will always request a table in Will’s section. Until next time Black Sheep… you were amazing.

Incredible date night spot. We ordered the lamb shank with roasted squash, chickpea purée, and almonds, and the pork lula kebab with basmati rice. Both dishes were cooked perfectly with amazing, well-balanced flavors—no crumbs left on either plate. The seating was beautiful and comfortable, the music was at the perfect level for conversation, and the atmosphere made for a great date night. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and helpful from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back.

Yelp
We had an 8 p.m. reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant side was buzzing, while the bar area was quieter and relaxed--perfect for a comfortable dinner atmosphere. Our server was exceptional--one of the best we've had in Greenville. He knew the menu inside and out, offered thoughtful suggestions, and explained how the restaurant changes its menu seasonally to highlight different regions of the Mediterranean. The cocktail list is also impressively long and creative. For appetizers, we tried several dishes: * Baked Brie: Phenomenal--topped with honey and herbs, served with a warm baguette from Rize Bakery. * Spiced Carrots: My personal favorite of the night--thinly sliced carrots with goat cheese and incredible flavor balance. * Onion & Apple Tart: The table's favorite--savory and subtly sweet. * Lahmajoun: My close second--soft bread with a perfectly crisp edge and bold, layered flavors. For mains, we had the lamb shank (fall-off-the-bone tender with a rich, heavy sauce), the NY strip (one of the better steaks I've had in Greenville, served with several unique sauces), and the duck, which ended up being the table favorite. We also ordered the mushrooms from the "Garden" section--everyone else loved them. Dessert was the only weak point. We ordered the crema catalana (similar to crème brûlée) and the orange cake. Both were underwhelming--the crema's top wasn't caramelized quite right, and the cake was dry. To their credit, our server noticed and kindly removed them from the bill. Given how strong the rest of the experience was, this didn't change my overall impression. Overall, The Black Sheep delivered one of the best meals I've had in Greenville--excellent service, thoughtful menu, and incredible flavors. We'll definitely be back (maybe skipping dessert next time).

Yelp
If you're looking for a farm-to-table (think Topsoil or the Anchorage) but with Old World cuisine, then we recommend The Black Sheep on the border between downtown Greenville and North Main neighborhood. The menu is seasonally rotated so the following recommendation will only be good through November. We recommend pairing the duck entree at medium rare which also comes with mushrooms and potatoes (French style, pommes Anna but in a stack) with the mushroom side. The combination of the umami of the duck + all the variations of the mushrooms is amazing. We also ordered the carrot salad which we recommend to order to start with something fresh. But we'd love to have tasted a bit more acid in the vinaigrette (more lemon) and a bit thicker (maybe emulsified) since it was so thin it ran off the carrots. Lovely dark ambience with interesting art. Great service from Anita. Will definitely be back when the new menu rotates in.

Yelp
I was Blown Away! By everything this gorgeous spot had to offer! The interior design/colors were just stunning! The mixologists are definitely masters at their craft! The food, well, I wanted to try everything! Super excited to go back and try the Fall Menu inspired by Spain, France and Morocco!

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and service. This is a fine dining tour of disparate Mediterranean dishes that will take you to new places and stretch your horizons!

Yelp
OMg! An outstanding evening! This menu changes but tonight we had lentil stew and the carrot salad. The carrot dish was wonderfully delicious and very light. Entrees included clams, kebabs, and duck. The duck was perfect! Of course after that meal--and at this place--we had to try dessert. The crema catalana was so smooth and not too sweet! The Armenian coffee was strong (as expected) but not overpowering and had a robust flavor! So yes, the food was amazing but the service was even better! Our waiter, Will, did a phenomenal job of explaining the dishes to us and gave incredible personal attention. Even if others brought out our food, he was right there to make sure it was delivered correctly and to answer any questions. The restaurant clearly hires only the best and trains them well!! And the decor was just the right mix of upscale and relaxing!

Yelp
Amazing! Not what I was expecting at all. There was a group of 4 of us and we all tried different things and nothing was bad! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant. Food is not worth the price in my opinion. . We sent our drinks back but the bartenders were very understanding, kind and personable. We came at 5pm and the restaurant was not busy.. but The owner/chef walked by my group (consisting of 3 people) more than 2 handful of times with not smile or even a hi... which I believe is important in starting a business especially if you are opening a business in a tight knit community. So we ended up asking for her, just to introduce ourselves and congratulate her... She walked past us three times after the Bartender told us that she asked Danielle to come over. Mind you there were maybeee a total of 6 people in the restaurant at this point . I will not be coming back to this restaurant which is unfortunate because I was excited for them to join north main community.

Yelp
Fabulous service. VERY POOR FOOD CONTENT. Dined with two other friends on Wednesday, August 27. All three of us are world-experienced diners and have lived and dined in Greenville for 20 years+. The table ordered the lavash board (mediocre). Each ordered a different entree: chicken thighs (dry), black sea bass (dry, overcooked), and the smoked white fish (whole fish - had to sift through very carefully to gain a small sliver of fish). Overall, the food had much to be desired. Again, a lovely, attentive server. None of us will return. Many great restaurants in downtown Greenville.

Yelp
First of all, there is free parking at the restaurant! A plus vs downtown dining. Last night was our first visit but we will definitely be back. The space is really beautiful and this is a much needed addition to Greenville's dining scene. Each season features the cuisines of 4 Mediterranean countries (Spain, France, Armenia and Morocco currently). The menu is thoughtful and well ordered. We started with the baked Brie which was perfect for two and enjoyed the blistered grapes accompanying it. My friend had two appetizers; the Lentil Stew and the Lahmajoun which we were unfamiliar with but which he described as pure comfort food. I ordered the Armenian entree Pork Lula Kebab. It is a very generous potion and was absolutely delicious! It is ground pork with a number of spices, onions, etc that is rolled and grilled and served with a really excellent yogurt as well as rice and a grilled tomato. When I requested a to-go for the left-overs our excellent server "Z" made sure I got an excellent dollop of the yogurt. The service was attentive but not obsequious. Chef Danielle introduced herself and talked about her vision. She spent 8 years as Chef de Cuisine at the excellent Jianna and it shows. The wine list is also very thoughtful IMO. We did not have any cocktails. Overall an A+ experience that I highly recommend!
