Last night dinner was exceptional. We had the best cocktails as well. Highly recommend Black Trumpet. Make a reservation !

In town for the #expowest2024 show and decided to spend the weekend in Huntington, Beach. Looked up of lots of places and landed on The Black Trumpet…I’m in the food business and travel a lot, so when eating out it takes a high level of execution to really get me excited! This place absolutely exceeded my expectations on every level! We tried a little of everything, and we were blown away….filet empanadas were absolutely the best I’ve ever had hands down! From the first course to dessert with a nice port, we were just in love! Service was impeccable and atmosphere was just perfect! So glad we made the stop, and it will certainly be my go to next time I’m in town!

Google
Pizza was a little rich and too cheesy for my liking. But hey, some really love that. The paella was more to my liking. Staff is great and the ambiance was really nice. Great place for a date

I’ve never written a review a day in my life but this is literally my favorite restaurant ever. Everything is just perfection from the ambience, the food, the presentation and attention to detail, to the service. I consistently try to drag everyone I know to this place. And the french onion soup is DIVINE.

Google
Fun to sit at the counter and watch the chef's cook! They have indoor seating with a bar and a nice outdoor patio dining area available also. We love to share a few tapas, salad and maybe dessert, if there's room and their desserts are worth saving room for! They are always coming up with fresh, creative dishes - the Truffle Fries, Lamb Lollipop & Mediterranean Sliders are some of our favorites. The Sangria is delicious and service is right there whenever you need them.

Came for a late dinner and we really enjoyed our experience. The staff was very kind and hospitable. Loved our server - I believe her name was Kelly? Most of the food on the menu we loved and we ordered quite a lot. I personally loved the lobster Mac n' cheese for example but everything on the menu tasted great, right down to dessert.

Google
Impromptu Valentine lunch with impressive results. Love the food, service and ambiance. Everything in the menu is superb. We had the special halibut and filet wellington plus Sicilian mushrooms from the regular menu and it's perfect for the two of us. Would like to come back with my children to try more dishes

Google
The staff was VERY welcoming and helpful. They went FAR ABOVE & beyond to treat us as if we were special guests in their own home. The food... OMG. THE FOOD! Every single item is uniquely crafted by top pro chefs, something no one could replicate at home. For a special night out in a celebrative atmosphere, THIS is the place to go. Special nod to server "Reef" (sp?), a gem-of-a-professional and friendly and very likable person. Black Trumpet is fortunate to have him on board.

Yelp
Excellent service from Mollie, very professional and fun attitude. She was on top of all our needs. We also talked to the owner in great detail, I just so happened that we had lunch at his other restaurant on Beach Blvd "Capone's" earlier that day! Small world with Fantastic cuisine! The decor is wam and comfortable lots of wood and a beautiful bar and very large central ceiling fan that is beautiful. Thank you Bill and Leslie

Yelp
Very unassuming location and a big strip mall known as Seacliff. Looking from the parking lot to the restaurant you'll be very surprised when you open the doors and see that it is very upscale. The menu is Mediterranean along with Spanish. The top is part of the experience is not true Spanish style top, but the selection was pretty good. The food was not that impressive. The weight staff was very very nice. The cocktails were OK, but to be honest the wine list was not extensive but adequate. Even though the dining room feels somewhat formal it still has the casualness of Huntington Beach, which is always welcoming.

Yelp
The food drinks and atmosphere was absolutely amazing. This is now my favorite restaurant

David M.

Yelp
Great vibe and decor. They have both a bar and a chef's bar that are fun. I sat at the chef's bar since dining alone so that I could enjoy the show. Great kitchen operation and well syncronized. It's always a pleasure to see a chef and his crew at work and especially one that is so efficient. Lauren was my server and she was excellent. The food was absolutely excellent and there's so much more to try.

Lauren W.

Yelp
Amazing apps, perfect ambience, attentive services rotating specials. What more could you ask for?! Don't let the shopping center fool you, it's extremely lovely inside! Don't skip the desert!

Kimberly K.

Yelp
We celebrated two birthdays on a Sunday evening. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful and the ambiance was cozy. We ordered a bunch of items and shared them tapas style. Our favorites were the lamb lollipops, filet mignon skewers and the cauliflower. They have a good cocktail menu. Our server was very helpful and provided suggestions for the best options to taste.

Josie T.

Yelp
One word: Perfecto! This is our new fav for a Friday night/date night local spot, on the same level with Capone's. Wait, that's the same owner: well done Chef Dino! Alfredo (host/Manager) who took us in for a walk-in sat us at the chef's table within 15 minutes. He was such a great host, always checking on us all through the night. I would highly recommend a reservation though. Noting to self for next time for us. We were very fortunate since the restaurant was filled. Keri who was our server was excellent too. We ordered the Crab Croquettes-tasty, French Onion Soup-the best, and the Meat Paella-worth a shout-out. We finished the night with Panna Cotta-so delish. The chef's table was worth seeing all the action by the busy-ness of how the real pros prepare the meals to perfection. Everything was perfect and as my husband's said: It was super good. Great night to finish the week for us. Thank you Black Trumpet!

Caleb G.

Yelp
Was in the area with family and decided to stop by and give it a try. Very happy that we did! The food and service is great. You can tell they take deep care in presentation and taste of the dishes. Everything was super flavorful. The service was good too. I do highly recommend.

W G.

Yelp
Very cool & stylish meeting place. The staff is very accommodating regarding special requests. It was obvious that staff had reviewed the notes included in reservations. The food... wow! EVERY SINGLE ITEM is prepared in a specialized way no one could ever replicate at home.

Linda V.

Yelp
I don't really go out. But at the end of the work week, we planned on venturing out for a date night. Came here on a Friday evening gussied up as best I know how (basically showering and putting on a dress, while he changed his shirt when he got home from work). Yep, we fancy *raises pinky* We really enjoyed ourselves after the bf found this place off yelp local to us. We didn't make reservations and got there about 7PM. There was a parking spot directly in front of the restaurant. Everything just seemed timed perfectly. When hostess asked if we had resi's I thought oh crap, we'll have to wait. No wait!! Hostess asked if we wanted outdoor or kitchen bar area. Despite heat lamps outside it was a cold night so I opted for indoor by the open kitchen bar area where we sat on high stools (fyi for those of you who are taller and prefer those), which was absolutely perfect. We got to watch the chef and his staff working hard preparing meals and enjoying the warmth by them too (I get cold easy and it was nice sitting there). Service was good, food delicious. We ordered as appetizers the Italian sausage stuffed mushrooms and French onion soup. As our main we got the seafood paella. All very good. Seasoned enough that it was delicious to my palette but also made me super thirsty that I drank 3 glasses of water throughout my meal (thank goodness our server Lauren was attentive without being interruptive). I didn't want to do cocktails as there was nothing that really spoke to me. He ordered something mango that was okay, but I'm glad at the end of the meal we did decide on dessert. We expected Lauren to bring us a dessert menu but instead she had a platter full of delicious sweet treats she brought by and visually showed us with detailed description. She was very knowledgeable about everything (I can't remember all that, guess that's why I've never worked in food industry), and although I asked her what she recommended, opted for the zebra cake sans gelato. I was pleased with how good everything all was. Would definitely want to come back. So the question at the end of our very satisfying meal was this: why black trumpet? He wanted to know why not red or white? I wanted to know why not French horn or tuba? Questions we will never know, but until then, black trumpet has a nice ring to it. I also like how cute and chic the place looks despite being in a strip mall next to pick up stix. We were lucky not to have waited but maybe next time I'll try booking a reservation, just in case, maybe at the kitchen bar again. The place was packed and happening. Glad we found this local gem by home.

Yelp
We came to Black Trumpet Bistro for my birthday this year. We started with their Oysters Rockefeller, it was my first time trying them and they were to die for, they just melt in your mouth. Next the fellow ordered his usual steamer clams but these were no ordinary steamer clams the brine was so rich and flavorful and they came with a nice ciabatta. I ordered the scallops and pasta special, the scallops were succulent and juicy in a delicious sauce. I wasn't wild about the bread the serve on the side, but it was the only thing that wasn't absolutely top notch. I gotta tell you, I can't stop thinking about this meal, it was that good. The service, the atmosphere and the food, 5 stars all around. AND they gave me a piece of tiramisu by on accounta it was my birthday.

Veronica S.

Yelp
Little bit of a hit and miss. Ordered quite a few tapa: roasted cauliflower, black trumpet risotto, garlic shrimp, the filet empanadas, a filet skewer al acarte and pita with olive service. The cauliflower was absolutely delicious with this tangy sauce with a little spice. However the filet was literally cooked to perfection juicy and phenomenal!! It was like a mastros level of quality steak so good. By far my favorite and will definitely order those two when I come back. The mushroom risotto would be a pass, one bite is delicious but it's just too rich to enjoy a serving. And the shrimp flavor fell short in comparison to the cauliflower and filet !

Nghi D.

Yelp
Great food with friendly atmosphere. The drinks were good with heavy pours. I would definitely come baby Shaun when I am in the area.

Sandra C.

Yelp
Lauren our server was exceptional and had a wonderful personality! She was friendly, timely, and was thoughtful from beginning to end!

Lexi S.

Yelp
My friend lives in the area and suggested we come here for dinner on a Friday evening. She made a reservation on open table and we walked in and were seated right on time. I fell in love with the restaurant the minute I stepped through the door, the atmosphere was so fun, there was jazz music playing, and the whole room was a glow. I love having a place to go that has exceptional food and the vibe can match. We were at home, I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio, my friend ordered a martini (she and the server said they are fantastic) We each ordered another of each throughout the meal. We tried the beet and sweet potatoes appetizer, we loved the sweet potatoes, I think the beets could have been excluded. They just didn't shine as brightly, the creamy cheese and crunchy pistachios complement the dish perfectly. For our entrees I was drawn to the filet mignon shish kabobs, accompanied by peppers and onions, a zesty tzatziki, and burani rice. My friend ordered her favorite dish the rigatoni with shrimp. The specials all sounded phenomenal, they had a bruschetta with filet mignon, a Brie dish that sounded amazing, and a couple entrees I would have died over. Unfortunately I am following a gluten free diet, so I had to stick within those perimeters, and I'm not indulging in cheese as much, or I would have ordered all of the burrata dishes. My friend assured me she has been multiple times and the salmon is divine, and all of their desserts won't disappoint. I saw the tray of desserts on the way in and began salivating. Sadly they only had gelato to offer me for dessert, I'm normally a chocolate fan. This gelato brought me back to eating it in Italy, it was truly delightful. So flavorful, creamy, light, airy. My friend isn't a sweets eater and had ordered a scoop for herself, she said it was the best she's ever had! I can't wait to come back, I was told if you sit at the counter you can watch the kitchen cook. Great music playing, the service is the best (everyone kept coming by to check on us!) our food was so good I'm dreaming about my next visit. This is a nicer place, and the price tag matches. Come for a date, girls night out, a celebration, birthday, anniversary etc.

Alison S.

Yelp
Service, food and ambience are the best! We took my brother for his birthday and he absolutely loved it

Christy D.

Yelp
Celebrated a friend's birthday and had a delicious meal. It was my first time here and looking forward to returning. Beautiful ambiance and bar. Our waiter was funny, attentive and kind. A couple things we shared were the mushroom risotto, beef carpaccio, empanadas, chicken shawarma, chicken and steak skewers. Everything was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Topped it off with a couple of delicious cucumber cocktails.

Yelp
Besides knowing the owners, Dino & Lisa, and hearing about this place "for years".... My favorite thing is tapas and small plates since I like to try a little bit of everything! I'll never forget when I asked one of my friends who frequents the Black Trumpet even before they moved to this new location... "what are your favorite dishes here?", her response was, "we order everything from the first two pages" LOL Well, there was 4 in our party last night and we were celebrating 3 birthdays, so we decided to each pick a dish and keep going around the table till we were full. Here's how that went: Crispy Calamari, Tuna Tartare, French Onion Soup, Brussel Sprouts, Truffle Fries, Mussels & Clams, Cookie Butter Cake, Beignets and complimentary birthday Panna Cotta... Everyone also enjoyed their alcoholic beverages: Mango Refresher (amazing), Espresso Martini and Riesling Sea Glass. The menu is creative and covers items for any palate. It's simple, yet extensive. Extremely easy to order because it's broken down into categories with simple descriptions of each choice. They specialize in Mediterranean tapas, but if that's not your thing, you'll surely find many other items to try. The ambiance is dark and classy inside and there's also an adorable patio area for those who prefer dining outside. Kelley, our server, was attentive and friendly and she was very knowledgeable on the special of the day menu items. There is ample parking in the huge shopping center and although crowded, we didn't have a wait on a Thursday night at 6 p.m. Overall a great dining experience. Yes, we'll be back... no doubt. Thanks Dino & Lisa for another great place to dine locally in our great city!

Yelp
I can't believe I've never left a review for this place. I've been here quite a few times in the past few years. It's consistent. The food is delish. I Love the vibe of this place. It's like loungy but not cheesy. Not a pickup joint. It's classy. The drinks are awesome. And the service is great. It's great for a date with your spouse or your homies. I don't see kids very often here but I know it can also be family friendly. 5/5 would recommend.

Leslie W.

Yelp
Great food and epic service. Mollie knew the menu specials and made excellent recommendations. The rack of lamb was next level! The kabob was cooked perfectly! We will certainly be back for more!

Yelp
I popped in Wednesday with a friend after noticing they have social hour from 3:00-5:00pm, and that they were rated #1 for tapas in Orange County! I arrived at 4:00 and made my way through the adorable patio area and into the restaurant. The restaurant was empty aside from a few people sitting inside at the bar. The room was dimly lit and soft music filled my ears as the voices of Billie Holiday and the Steve Wingfield band serenaded me. There was a soothing timeless feel that immediately filled my heart. I was greeted and told I could take my pick of seats. I chose to sit outside on the beautiful patio surrounded by lush green dangling plants and the warm summer breeze. The patio has both high and low top tables perfectly spaced allowing for community and intimate conversations to be shared. Kayla greeted me on the patio and took my drink order. My friend arrived shortly after and Kayla helped her select a drink from the menu. Kayla told us social hour was not from 3:00-5:00 (which is what the website showed) but from 3:00-4:00. She let us know that during that hour $15.00 drinks drop to $10.00. There is no special pricing on food. The restaurant serves drinks only during that time, but that at 4:00 the kitchen starts cooking. When Kayla returned a few minutes later with our drinks she went through an impressive list of specials they had for the night. My belly grumbled and my mouth began to water as she detailed the preparation and ingredients used in each one. We let her know that we would consider all of the amazing options while we enjoyed our drinks. My friend and I hadn't seen each other for a few weeks, so we let the restaurant know that we would be enjoying our drinks and tapas leisurely. They smiled in acknowledgment and assured us we had plenty of space to do so. We ordered the crab stuff mushrooms, vegetable empanadas, and chicken schwarma. All three dishes were delicious and perfectly sized for sharing. Their mushrooms stuffed with delicate crab appeared and were gobbled down quickly. Two empanadas stuffed with veggies and cheese were accompanied by a light marinara dipping sauce. They were lighter than I thought they would be which I appreciated. The chicken shawarma was a tower almost of deliciously seasoned chicken pieces atop a sea of hummus with warm pita bread circling the plate. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. Unfortunately we didn't have time for desert. After seeing the desert tray walk by Kayla let us know that they needed the table for a reservation, so we had to move along. The food was great and the vibe perfect. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
Literally my favorite restaurant in all of HB! Sp delicious- the drinks & the food. My favorite is the Pear pizza, I crave it all the time! Also, get their olives & pita service the abs best!

Janelle Z.

Yelp
We had a really good time here. Love the variety of tapas on their menu because you can get anything from American to middle eastern to Mexican, and more. We were seated in the back of the restaurant and it was dark, so pretty hard to see, but other tables seemed fine.

Deborah S.

Yelp
This was my second visit there. It was my dear friend's "special birthday" (88!) and we had been three years ago and I took her again last night. David was our server: He made the dining experience exquisite !!! Lots of attention to us, good recommendations and spot on service with David. We started out with a great appetizer of stuffed mushrooms. They were delicious and our alternative choice over a salad. Birthday Girl had the filet mignon and I had the ribeye. Portions are generous with beautiful sauces. The atmosphere is very soft and nice, with a fun bar, and I can see where this would be a great neighborhood place, you wouldn't have to track to Newport for the same type of ambience !! I'm bringing my boyfriend back for the rack of lamb.

Thao B.

Yelp
We've been here quite a few times to celebrate birthdays. The food was fine. Not great but fine. We've ordered the seafood paella (definitely on the small size compared to Havana at the Camp), stuffed mushrooms, beef carpaccio, onion soup, arugula salad, and I can't remember what else. Our server I don't think checked on us at all but everyone else, especially the ones that dropped off the food, were courteous and they were the ones asking if we needed anything else, not our server. The worst thing was when we asked the server to take a picture for us after we paid, she said no because she is going on break. Who does that? It was so rude! I haven't left a restaurant review since 1999 but I felt really strongly to leave this one. Wish I knew what the server's name was. She was so rude!

Alma P.

Yelp
I kept hearing about Black Trumpet and thought I need to check it out! I love restaurants that are neighborhood gems and BT definitely qualifies as a local HB gem! Cute inside and much bigger than it looks, although a tad bit loud inside - was there on a Wednesday night and the place was packed! They definitely have their regulars. Service was friendly although the host was a tad bit abrupt (not rude or anything but just very matter of fact) but our waiter and everyone else was beyond friendly and helpful. it's mostly small plates/tapa style so we tried a variety of dishes and my favs were definitely the wagyu tartare and the stuffed mushrooms. I would skip the eggplant caponata next time as it was the only thing I didn't care for - too many peppers which overpower the dish. Everything else we tried was quite good. They also have a great wine list and some tasty cocktails! I'm not sure if I'd make a special drive all the way to HB for it but if I am in the area or looking to dine in HB I would definitely return to Black Trumpet.

Sharon A.

Yelp
I have been to this place many times and because all the food is delicious is the reason I keep going back. The lamb lollipops are a favorite of my family. The service is wonderful and very attentive and just the right amount. Great place to have a celebration.

Hillary L.

Yelp
Love the food, nightly specials, and ambiance! I always order multiple dishes and share, the best way to enjoy this place.

Lisa C.

Yelp
I traveled to Italy and Barcelona in the spring and been looking for tapas bar here. This place is the closest if not one of the best I've ever tried. Everything that we ordered were so delicious. My husband and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary here and it was the best so far! Our server Kayla is the best server ever! Highly recommended. One of my favorite restaurants now. In fact, I plan to come back next weekend to bring my kids, one of them is a Yelp Elite. I'm sure they will love the food.

Alana H.

Yelp
I came to Black Trumpet Tapas & Bar to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my husband, and we had an exceptional experience. From start to finish, everything was top-notch. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the marinated olives, beets & sweet potatoes, chicken skewer, salmon special, and a bottle of the red blend from Tooth & Nail Vineyard. Each dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was attentive and friendly, making the evening even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is charming and inviting, with Billie Holiday's music setting the perfect tone for a memorable meal. We can't wait to return!

Chris H.

Yelp
It is a fun place to eat, good friendly service and a nice environment. We ordered a bunch of Tapas at once, I would recommend ordering one at a time, the orders come out fast so you are not waiting for hours

Tami B.

Yelp
We have been here before and have always enjoyed the food and drinks. This time we were there to celebrate a birthday with some friends. The front desk would prefer that you make a reservation although on a Monday at 5 pm it was not crowded at all. They have outdoor, indoor and bar seating for you to choose from. They also have a small happy hour Tuesday-Friday 2-5. The sangria is nice and they have some interesting specialty cocktails as well as a good wine selection. They have an extensive selection of tapas as well as salads and entrees. The food is so good but what made our night was our server, Jordyn! She had a great personality, cute sense of humor, was super helpful in her suggestions and was very efficient. I may just start asking to sit in her section all the time! Five star suggestions....the ahi special appetizer, the pear Gorgonzola pizzette, the empanadas. The seafood paella is amazing although we didn't order it this time and decided to stick with a variety of tapas instead. Price point may be high but the quality is outstanding!

Amy A.

Yelp
Delicious tapas and tasty cocktails in a speakeasy atmosphere. Don't be thrown off by the strip mall location. The interior of the restaurant is warm and inviting. Terrific service and delicious daily specials. Will be returning!

Dj D.

Yelp
Stellar in some ways. Best part is the food. Shouldn't that be all that matters? I've been a loyal customer, on and off, for years. This visit we started Spanakopita. Filo dough, spinach and feta cheese heart stopper. Next was pita and olive. Pita bread with olive tapenade. Perfect and bold. Then the locally famous cauliflower dish. Pan fried cauliflower with a light sauce of yogurt, almond and with a touch of heat... maybe cayenne. All fantastic. I love a restaurant that is not afraid of bold flavors! The not so great for 3 stars. Harsh acoustics that makes it so hard to hear friends. And not very intimate seating. But the biggy for was the small trickery on the bill. We asked for the house cabernet. In virtually all restaurants that means the least expensive.... In a nice place you can count on the house wine being good. The bill comes, and they had charged us $20 per glass of wine. Not nice. But I will keep coming back because you just can't find this quality of exciting flavors often. Stellar yum rating!

To Tell The T.

Yelp
The food was great as always. However, I'm only giving 3 stars after the waitress spilled 20% of my wife's drink and never offered to replace it or comp it. Dino, she DID NOT do the right thing. Other than cleaning up the mess, which you actually helped with, she did nothing to remedy the situation.

Donna P.

Yelp
Stopped by to check it out and thought I'd have a glass of wine at the bar and was told I needed a reservation. Never had that experience before.

Scott S.

Yelp
I slid into a seat at the end of the bar, in front of the open kitchen. I've never been a fan of an open kitchen and this reminded me why. I felt the heat on my face through the entire meal and the noise was a lot more than I care for. When the kitchen staff could have set a pot or pan down they seem to take pride in slamming it. I had a very good arugula salad to start, served with a very warm half bottle of Cabernet. It must have been 74 degrees. I actually took some ice out of my water glass to put into the wine. I received the main course of rigatoni with shrimp, garlic, Gorgonzola and creamy spinach pesto. This combination of ingredients would cause most chiefs to buckle but this dish was beautiful. This is a very successful restaurant and isn't going to change anything based on my comments so defend yourself by not sitting at the last 4 to 6 seats at the bar, in front of the kitchen and requesting a cool bottle of wine. Or, bring your own bottle of wine.

Shelli Q.

Yelp
This was our first visit and it definitely won't be our last. We ordered four plates from the tapas specials menu and they were all great -- filet tartare, baked feta, and sea bass. The fish was a standout. The baked feta was on the sweet side and could have been ordered as a dessert. We ordered two small salads -- arugula and the Gorgonzola/pear. The sliced pears were nice. There was enough to share amongst the three of us so we wouldn't recommend ordering the large unless you wanted it all for yourself as a main. We really splurged and ordered two desserts: stuffed beignets and chocolate cheesecake. They were fantastic. Our second server, David, really wanted us to order vanilla gelato with the beignets, but we declined. We're thinking next time we will order just the beignets and add the gelato. I also left my credit card in the folio and they called me just as we were leaving the parking lot. Kudos to David for the quick response and saving me the anxiety the next day when I would have discovered the card's absence!

Clara M.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Our server was very attentive and provided good advice about how to navigate the menu. The cauliflower and spanakopita were totally knockouts and we got the baklava for dessert which was delicious. Good cozy vibe, will definitely return!

Yelp
Went on Sunday afternoon. Hours on window said they were closed. Fortunately, the hostess came outside and greeted us. Otherwise we would have missed out on this WONDERFUL experience. Service: 5 - waitress greeted us quickly. Friendly, easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and suggested a lot of our dishes. Food: 5 - The Chef and Cook team are recognized in OC, but their food should be recognized even further. Very talented. Caesar- The dressing to greens blend was spot on. Grilled ciabatta great concept instead of every restaurant croutons. French Country Salad- Sweet, Earthy, Savory, Acidity. Amazing blend this added to our experience. Filet Mignon Kebob- Charred, Salt and Seasonings combo balanced. Juicy and filling Mediterranean Tacos- WOW just try them you will know Lemon Cake- Fluffy, moist, lemon and white chocolate, strawberry. The balance of the ingredients. Ambiance : 5 - The owner truly thought out the experience and Huntington is lucky to have a restaurant like this.

Samantha H.

Yelp
Wow this place is a gem! Walked in for dinner on a Saturday night and was able to snag a spot at the bar. Black Trumpet's menu is mostly tapas style, which makes it easy to try several small plates with your table. - Complimentary Pita: Served fresh and comes with a delicious garlicky tapenade. Very fluffy and goes with any tapas you order. - Veal Meatballs: Includes two large meatballs. The meat is tender and the sauce pairs perfectly. - Brussel Sprouts: So delicious and a pretty large portion. A great amount of crispness and flavor. Cooked with chorizo and topped with almonds. - Meat Paella: Paella is a must order when visiting! They offer meat paella (includes lamb and duck) or traditional seafood. The portion is enough to share between two people. Definitely our favorite out of everything we ordered!

Yelp
What a find! Our son recently moved to the area so we picked this place randomly off of Yelp reviews. Ambiance was great, service was friendly, attentive and well informed. The drinks and food were all SO good. (Amazing gluten free options too which was a bonus.) The grilled octopus was perfection! We have to go back because there were so many great choices on the menu it was hard to choose!

Yelp
My father and I have never been there, so we thought we would try it. Nice atmosphere, small inside but nice. I liked the way it look from the outside and inside. We chose are own table and the waiter greeted us and explain the specials and answer a couple of are questions. He was informative about the selection of dishes and wine. The food was delicious but the portions were small. It cost with tip over 100 dollars. Don't get me wrong, we enjoyed the restaurant but I think the prices are a little high.

Yelp
I loved it. The portions were great for tapas. The food was great quality. We got entrees and main courses, the rice with the filet Mignon was so delicious.

Yelp
What a fantastic experience! The food is impeccably prepared with delicate flavors. Every dish we tried was delicious. The service exceeded our expectations, especially when they accommodated our group by separating our main dishes into portions for each couple. Such considerate service! Our servers were outstanding as well. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
I've come here many times for tapas style lunches. I love that there is plenty of seating, relaxing music, and attentive service - especially during lunch when the only busy thing happening in this area are high schoolers careening down the parking lot hahaha. I have gotten a lot of stuff and I would say you can't go wrong with anything. Altho the pita and olive service is a bit odd in my opinion (but it does seem to be a Socal thing to charge for bread whereas in the Northeast where I came from, there's no such thing) and one time the pita was under warmed. Definitely check out their specials as well.

Yelp
The Black Trumpet Bistro is a hidden gem in Huntington Beach! It is one of the few if not only restaurant in Orange County that serves both Spanish and Mediterranean tapas or small plates that are meant to be shared. They do also serve large plate entrees as well. I came on Paella Monday where they serve either their seafood or meat paella at a $10 discount. We had the seafood paella and it was near perfect. The saffron risotto rice was nice and moist and included a generous portion of seafood and Spanish chorizo. The pan roasted duck breast and tuna tartar though were my favorite dishes. The baked brie was served in a walnut cream sauce that wasn't really necessary. The French country salad was solid. Their desserts also looked good, but the cakes were a little dry to my liking and may not have been baked fresh that day. They do also offer a good selection of wines, including Joseph Drouhin, Macon Villages, French White Burgundy (or chardonnay), at a reasonable price. They do get full so reservations are highly recommended. Overall service was also very good. Black Trumpet is a fun and lively dining experience that brings the flavors of Italian, France, Spain, Greece and Morocco on a plate. I will definitely be back to try some of the other items on their tapas menu.

Yelp
Recommend the Chilean sea bass on the bed of pea mash as well as the beef tartar. Loved the seafood paella too but thought the portion was a bit small compared to other places When you come here it feels a bit like eating at a restaurant in Europe so they got that nailed down. They tie in different Mediterranean cuisines but primarily focus on Italian and Spanish. Great place to bring your family or your friends! Had my birthday here and would come back for sure
