The Blackstone, Autograph Collection

We just stayed here for a long weekend with our adult kids to go see a couple of cubs games and we loved it! This hotel is historic and retains much of the old charm but has been modernized too. The room was spacious, clean, bed was comfortable and the view was amazing!!!! The bathroom was very spacious too and spotless. Housekeeping came every day not like some hotels where you have to specifically ask for it. We ate at several very good restaurants all within walking distance and train station red line was just a few blocks away. If I had to think of something negative the only thing I can think of is the shower. It only has one glass shower half wall. The rest of it is open where there should be a glass door so water gets all over when you take a shower. Other than that we loved this hotel! Would definitely stay again!

This place was built in 1910. I love how not only did the owners lean into the history of the hotel, but the staff was excited to share its history. This really speaks to their celebration of its significance. The amenities are very nice. The room is very plush and well appointed. The gym is nice with a great street view. My only complaint would be my back alley view, though other colleagues may feel differently.

(This is a long review. Take a deep breath, it’s worth it. We will make it through together.)||Pros:|1. The building. I prefer older, converted hotels. The Blackstone was beautifully renovated 15 years ago. The lobby is breathtaking. ITS QUIET. Probably because the walls are a foot of brick. No joke. |2. Staff. I’ve been coming here for almost 10 years and there is little turnover. Same faces, which is a great sign. They like working here and it shows. |3. Service. Ok, this is a long one. The manager, Kristina, manages my often ridiculous requests. I needed a room where the bed wasn’t behind the desk (messy bed on Zoom meetings - bad). She found and moved me to a new room WHEN THE HOTEL WAS 99% full. Deonte at the front desk is always recognizes me. Always finds a great room. DJ keeps the bellhops and lobby moving like a machine. |4. Location: It’s just south of Millennium Park, so it’s close to everything, but not in the crazy, loud mess. ||Con’s: ||1. Small workout room. And I mean small. Size of three rooms.

There are beautiful Autograph properties…this is not one of them. Was fabulous once but now worn and rough around the edges. Our mirror was chipped at the corner as was the vanity box holder, while the bottom of the shower door was grimy. It was near impossible to pull the blackout curtain down or up without it coming off the track. There wasn’t an outlet or charging area on one side of the bed and the room itself was sparse with dated furnishings. On the plus, room was sizable and king bed was comfy.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, starting from check-in. Our representative was a delightful young woman of color who remembered our name everyday. She was the sweetest!!! I stayed in room 1804 and had "club level". I would say it's worth the extra cost bc we enjoyed breakfast, I only wish they had a little more of a selection in the evening. I also did not notice any dessert offerings during the pm for the four nights I stayed there. I 1000% recommend this hotel. Great job everyone!

We stayed the weekend at the Blackstone, conveniently located in the middle of downtown Chicago, next to everything. Our stay was fantastic! We received some of the best service from the bar/restaurant to the front desk staff. The rooms were super clean, spacious and had incredible views. A special shout out to Krystina and Marcus who made our stay especially enjoyable, as they provided incredible customer service from suggestions on things to do and eat nearby and accommodating our needs. Would definitely recommend! Thanks for the hospitality!

This was a one night stay for a layover on our way to Asia. Nate, Quinnetta, Sterling, Marcus and Mick and Jeff in the restaurant were fantastic. Hotel beds were super soft, which is why I tend to lean towards Marriott properties. Noise was soooo loud but not because of the hotel but because there was a concert in the park. We ate at the hotel and the food was perfect, Mick the manager made sure of it. Would definitely stay here again.

My friend and I are Gold Elite members and very loyal to Marriott. We were so impressed by the building, design, and staff service from the minute we stepped into the doors. Shout out to Tori for making us feel so accommodated and at ease. She always brought a smile to our faces every time we passed the front desk. Highly highly recommend this hotel!

The Blackstone Hotel in Chicago is history meets style in a prime Michigan Avenue location. Originally opened in 1910, she's an old girl. Over the years, it fell into disrepair, but thankfully it was restored to its former glory with a modern shabby-chic touch. Staying here is perfect for a quick city trip because it's within easy walking distance to major attractions. The Art Institute, Millennium Park, the iconic Bean, and countless restaurants and shops are just a stone's throw away. I love the hotel's design--a mix of historic elements and trendy, modern updates. The rooms have personality. Give it a stay if you're in Chicago.

I stayed here recently when I came to visit Chicago. I found this place because this hotel is apart of the Marriott Autograph Collection of hotels. This hotel has a very boutique-y feel. It is warm and quaint and you could feel the history of the building as you enter their lobby grounds. The staff area superb and friendly from the front desk to the bartender at their Mercat restaurant. We definitely enjoyed our stay here because they were centrally located in the heart of Chicago making it very easy to access all the different types of neighborhoods looming very close by.

Many of these reviews are 8 years old so I figured I can help in your decision making process. This hotel is overall pretty okay but in a great location. A park is across the street one way, and a bustling and decently clean city area on the other. Gym is quite nice for a hotel. So why not 5 stars? Read on. The restaurant here is in open war with the hotel. The in room dining phone button goes to some rando employee not the host staff. The hotel's front desk said they have pickup. You call to find out there is no pick up. The host says they are never on the same page. As a confused customer I should not be in the middle of their lack of coordination and communication. Marriott should own both and integrate them to avoid silly experiences. Signed, Hungry in Chicago

Very nice lobby, elevators took a while and our room was small for 4 people. The bathroom was very oversized though.

I've never stayed here before, but I've been upstairs in the Crystal Ballroom with my charity group during the Chicago Marathon. This hotel was very beautiful and elegant from the moment I entered. The location was very convenient as the marathon started and ended just across the street in Grant Park. I would hope to stay here one year for the marathon. However, the rates are pretty high during that weekend!

Such a beautiful, historic hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was well appointed - I loved little details, like the presidential doodles on the notepads. They do a great job of offering modern comfort while honoring the history.

It was a pleasure staying here. Staff was really nice. I felt comfortable. I asked for a shower cap and tooth paste and they had it. Fantastic spot to stay. I usually stay at Sheraton Riverwalk, but this place was better!

Great stay at the Blackstone even for a remote work stay. Sitting right by Grant Park which is a plus if you enjoy a brisk walk during the day. Lots of places to eat nearby. Staff was courteous. Room was very clean and updated. Ventilation throughout the hotel and in the room was very good. Will consider a revisit when returning to Chicago.

Great Gatsby dream! Location: Across from a large walkable park. Wish they had an elevator to get your luggage into the building because the stairs are tricky to navigate with a large suitcase. Service: One of the best marriotts on service. Staff does a great job of maintaining the property very clean and secure. Does have a restaurant on location. Marriott Platinum Members : Lounge is well stocked.

The Blackstone is truly the most beautiful boutique hotel in Chicago! Every detail exudes charm and elegance. A special thanks to the incredible front desk team who went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. Their warm hospitality and attention to detail made all the difference. Can't wait to return!

Great hotel. Perfect location as it was walking distance to some of my favorite places to eat and sit and people watch. Staff was really nice.

The Blackstone Autograph Collection is a beautiful property with courteous FRONT DESK staff and amazing views from the upper floors. Unfortunately, I won't ever return to this property. I requested a feather-free room as I'm allergic to them. Though I was accommodated, it took a while for my room to be ready. That wasn't a huge deal because I was helping to set up an event a few doors down. I also appreciate that this is even an option for people with allergies. Check-in was fine; they didn't tell you they would place a $160 daily hold on your credit card for incidentals. I wasn't even aware of it until a fellow conference attendee complained about seeing it on her bank statement. Holds should always be clarified at check-in with every guest. Complimentary water bottles were available, as were umbrellas, which I needed on day 2 of my stay. The room I was in had an amazing view. The furnishings were worn, but the room was comfortable and spacious enough to lay out my things without feeling cramped. The club lounge was nice for grabbing a hot breakfast to start your day. The staff in the lounge were polite without hovering and spoke to everyone who entered; it was also kept exceptionally clean. The elevators were quick, and the AC was quiet. Now that all the positives are out of the way, the reason why I will never stay at this location again is twofold. The restaurant waitstaff displayed overt racist behavior towards my colleagues/friends, who were also guests at the hotel, and me. I'll expound on our experience on that account. The second and most egregious reason is that I was sexually harassed in the lobby of the Blackstone. A man walked past me multiple times, asking if he could "get that p---y." I ignored and didn't react the first time he said it, fearing that making a scene could escalate into an assault. After he said it the second time, I immediately walked to the concierge to ask them to call security or the police. The man had left the building when I reached the desk. I was waiting for an Uber to pick me up to take me to a work event (on a boat, so there was a time frame I had to get there), so I left with a male friend who showed up. The next day, I spoke with the manager and told her what happened. I noticed multiple cameras and told her I wanted her security team to review the footage to see if they recognized the man as an employee or a guest. I wanted further action taken regardless. She asked me to stay to talk to the head of security but told me it would take a while, and since I had a flight to catch, I gave her my card and asked her to have him email me so we could set up a phone call or Zoom meeting. That was Saturday, March 16th. By Monday, March 18th, I still hadn't heard from anyone at The Blackstone or Marriott. I left a review on Marriott.com and sent an email to Corporate. I called once again and spoke to a different manager, explaining the incident once again. She relayed the message to the head of security, who called me about two hours later. Speaking with the security was a frustrating experience because he kept cutting me off when I tried to give him the details, failed to pay attention when I was describing myself (while he was looking for the footage), and gave me the same canned apology multiple times on the call. After reviewing the video footage, he claimed the man who harassed me was not an employee but was unsure if he was a guest. He told me to file a report with Chicago PD and that he would put out a BOLO for this man to be distributed to area hotels. He also said he would call back to let me know the status of my incident report and the steps taken. It's now March 27th, and I've heard nothing more from him, The Blackstone, or Marriott except another canned response from the general manager telling me they're sorry for my experience. The officer who filed my incident report further frustrated me when she said she "would've gone off on the guy instead of being quiet." Apparently, she's never been the victim of an assault and doesn't know that it's a real possibility when dealing with predators or lecherous people like the man who harassed me. I can't recommend this hotel, especially for women, because people like the man who harassed me are free to come and go and do this to women on their property. There's been no assurance or update on what was done to prevent this from occurring to other women, so I don't feel comfortable recommending a stay there. That, coupled with the racism my dining party experienced, eclipsed every good thing The Blackstone had to offer.

Fabulous boutique hotel by Marriott on S Michigan Avenue. Old historic building listed as Chicago Landmark. Hotel is nice, with modern mixing in with the old. Great location and if your room is facing the Michigan Avenue you will have a fabulous view! Lobby is particularly spectacular! Gym is nice and has anything that traveler can hope for. Rooms are nice as well, and charming. Bathrooms are fantastic. Carpet in the hallway can use a facelift, and while hotel provides bath robes, they do not fit muscular individuals. I asked for larger ones but they inform me they only come in one size! Not a deal breaker, but come-on!

The Blackstone is a beautiful historic hotel in a convenient location, however, the customer service by the front desk staff is in direct contrast of the glamorous surrounding. The lack of care and extremely casual demeanor on their part was a disappointment and made us sorry we stayed there. The valet staff was cool and friendly, somewhat redeeming the experience.

While this hotel may have a steep nightly rate for some, I think the location and the history behind the building make it so worth the price tag! Located right on Michigan Avenue, this hotel is within walking distance to so many amazing Chicago sights and attractions. We were able to see so much without even having to rent a car. The Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium are right down the street (with the Art Institute of Chicago right down the street in the other direction!). You can see Buckingham Fountain from your window. A little farther down and there you are at Wacker Drive (don't pass up the opportunity to take an architecture cruise!) The hotel itself is just a sight to behold. With a classic art deco lobby, the modern luxury of any Marriott Autograph hotel, and its very own art gallery right on-site, all wrapped up into a national historic landmark.

The Blackstone is a historic hotel built in 1908-10. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. The Blackstone is an architectural icon in Chicago history. The recent pictures of the lobby evokes an earlier era, where powerbrokers held meetings in "smoke-filled rooms" (the phrase originated here). Also included are some pictures from an earlier visit, including the barbershop where Al Capone used to hold meetings while getting his hair cut (and we were shown where the secret exit was), and the Crystal Ballroom where Lucky Luciano hosted the Crime convention and where "The Untouchables" was filmed. Shoutout to the wonderful valet service that took care of our car on our recent visit.

Such a beautiful hotel!!! I came to run the Chicago Marathon and it's the perfect spot, so close to the entrance and exit! Rooms were clean and the staff were very helpful!! If I ever come back to Chicago I'll definitely stay here again

THE JOURNEY TO NEW LEVELS at #MarriottBonvoy HOTEL #17 I recently dropped in to this little treasure in Chicago .... A boutique hotel and they say it's ICONIC ... and I'd say ok ... Entrance - Uhhh there's a few steep stairs to get in and a revolving door ... and I don't recall a bellman to help with my luggage ‍ Lobby - Gorgeous ... a love a girl with personality and this girl was definitely very stylish it's all in the architecture and interior design of the hotel lobby. If I had to give her a name maybe "Sassy Savanah" would describe this property Checkin - Three person counter where I was received by a very nice gentleman who reminded me I have 16 more sleeps until I become Marriott Elite ... or whatever the next level is ‍ Bites and Beverages - No ma'am ‍. The one option for food is a specialty restaurant MERCAT ... now if you like Mexican you'll love it but no sir that menu is not inclusive. I was starving one night and the only other option was a vending machine that was half empty it's soo off brand for @Marriott but I understand because it's #AutograhCollection it needs that side pantry shop next to the check in counter with the honor system or complimentary snacks. But the nice lady at desk at close to midnight offered to pop my popcorn if I want to grab it from the vending machine. NO ROOM SERVICE. (sidebar this is when Uber eats and door dash is a life preserver). No coffee shop but there's a Starbucks inside the Hilton across the street. Room - Perfect for business stay ...beautiful view of Lake Michigan from the 18the floor ... Bathroom - Decor is beautiful and bright marble floors and wall paper covering Design is an all in one design with no division of church and state the and are in the same space ... and shower and tub are the same same ... it's a step in tub if you want to shower Other notables - Power outlets - abundance of standard and UBS power outlets - Robe - yes a beautiful Black robe - Safe - yes in the closet - Telephone - one in sleeping area and wall mounted in bathroom but who you calling with a from the 1900s - Books - yes real hard cover/paper back books Now there are two other hotels next door Hilton and Lemeridien (I've stayed at both for business). Lemeriden is a small boutique size property as well Lobby bar has good eats.

Had a short two night stay at Blackstone. I have to caveat that they were very accommodating with my early check in at 11am. I was grateful I had a room immediately when I checked in and was able to relax. However, the room was less than impressive. It was facing north so no light whatsoever and the windows were so small. It was rather depressing. And the decor is very dark and to top off with black soap. Interesting. However I was able to get access to the lounge (despite losing my platinum status, still very bummed about this) and the staff were attentive. The location of the hotel was less to be desired. Located in South Loop. It was rather far from good restaurants, there was a Trader Joe's a few blocks away. Overall, felt more of a residential location than the busy Chicago town. Will opt for a different location next time.

Disappointing experience. They really give you the minimum. Even low end hotels offer robes. We had to call get the robes. When we got them, there were no strings to wrap them around. Usually hotels also provide glasses but we had to call guest services again for that... there was a 10 min wait to get a hold of anyone. Waking up in the morning to take a shower and both the SHAMPOO AND BODY WASH WERE EMPTY. Never had that happen.. The worst part was that the room had an awful barn door that didn't close all the way. The only good part was the view which we paid extra for anyway... Overall did not have a good experience. :(

Classic Chicago. Walking into the lobby makes you feel like you're walking through history with a modern artistic touch. Location is pretty convenient as it's 10 min driving to anywhere you want to be. It's a short walk to millennium park. Rooms are clean and spacious. Nothing really to complain about.

I had a great time during my stay at the Blackstone. This is my first time at this property and while I was only here one night, I had an excellent service and my room was very clean. The rooms were large and well appointed, with everything you could want in a hotel room. I would absolutely stay here again in the future, especially for the price point.

Just finished up a stay at The Blackstone - it was Wednesday through Saturday and all in all was a wonderful experience - I was visting from Charlotte and have never stayed in downtown Chicago before. From the initial greeting of the bellman/doorman to the front desk check - in all were wonderful. The location is pretty prime - when you walk outside you will be surrounded by a lot of college students due to the neighboring colleges. One of the reasons we booked the hotel to begin with was due to the historic nature of the hotel. Like many other reviewers have noted - many US Presidents have stayed here along with Marilyn Monroe! The gorgeous hotel lobby also features many artifacts from when they opened and photos of previous guests like MLK Jr!. I unfortunately was not aware until the last night that hotel tours are available so definitely ask about this when you check-in to ensure you are able to attend one! However, we did do some roaming of our own on the Art Gallery floor and the floor with the conference rooms which were all beautiful and stunning! There are QR codes within the elevators that link to a pdf with more info on the history and art. I did go to the gym, which had everything you would need for a good workout, plenty of weight equipment, ellipticals, treadmills, etc. and they have filtered water available. They didn't have clorox wipes but did have a spray bottle and towels available for cleaning/disinfecting. The murals on the walls were pretty cool! For some reason the public restrooms on the gym level were locked so just keep that in mind. I'm not sure if this was due to COVID but I do think having the restrooms open on the gym level would be more convenient for guests. All in all, this was one of the most beautiful hotels I've stayed in, especially for those who appreciate history! I'm only knocking them a star because I honestly think they should have coffee/tea available for guests in the lobby or in the closed cafe downstairs. I'm sure it's closed due to COVID however, I do think in the winter in Chicago - having easy access to a warm cup of coffee each morning would've been ideal!

The Blackstone, autograph Collection in Downtown Chicago. 636 S Michigan Ave Chicago, IL 60605 United States . - Lobby/ Lounge Area, It has an Gatsby look or design that it stands out. From door to the lobby and their check-in counter. This lounge is on your left side coming from the entrance. I love the cozy feels and fire place. - Room , it has a complimentary soap I mean like other hotels that provide a soap and shampoo. However, this one is unique because It's Black soap, this is the first time I saw a black soap in a hotel whenever I travel. Usually they give us a regular soap. ( you know what I'm talking about.) In addition, This hotel location is near the millennium park, south and north loop, 5-10mins walk from downtown and there's cvs/around the corner and so on and so forth. Would I recommend this to my friends? Yes, of course. If I ever come back to Chicago I will definitely stay here again.

It goes without saying, but the COVID-19 pandemic drastically changed many parts of our daily lives; it's almost overwhelming to think about how much has changed, both for better and for worse. Personally, I took a step back during the early days of the pandemic to reflect, and decided to take advantage of the shut-down state and go back to school to further my education. How does tie into a Yelp review of a hotel? Well, the college I (remotely) attended is in Chicago, and I thought it would be fun to attend commencement in person. I've had good experiences at Marriotts before, and since I'm a Bonvoy member I decided to start there and see what I could find. The Blackstone stood out to me for several reasons, so I decided to book it for my extended weekend in Chicago. Like most of my other hotel reviews, I'll be separating this by pros and cons, so here we go! One of the biggest pros of The Blackstone is the location - you're in the heart of the South Loop right on Michigan Ave, and are within walking distance to many sights like Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, and the Chicago Riverwalk. During my stay, I either walked to took a short Uber right to wherever I wanted to go, many sights and points of interest are within a mile or two. The aesthetics are another pro - the hotel is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, which features spaces that have rich histories and interesting architecture. The decor was gorgeous - lots of eclectic furniture in the lobby contrasting with the clean, contemporary design of the rooms that had splashes of flair as well. The room was spacious - the bathroom in particular was super large and the bed was very comfortable. I stayed on the 16th floor which offered amazing views of Lake Michigan, Buckingham Fountain, and the Chicago Navy Pier. Other features worth noting are a restaurant that is open for dinner, an art gallery, and a ballroom for special events. So, onto the cons. Let me start by saying that as a whole, I enjoyed my stay here but that there were details that took away from the experience and prevented me from giving them more than a 3 (keeping in mind the price-point of this hotel). Accommodations is one of the biggest cons for me - the in-house restaurant is limited to dinner (starting at 5pm), so you are forced to look elsewhere if you want breakfast, lunch, or a small bite. I was honestly surprised at the lack of food offerings - they should at least have a coffee bar or something set up in the morning. General upkeep of the common area and rooms were also a con for me. Upon arrival I noticed an empty cup in the common area by my floor's elevator, and it did not move at all during my stay (did housekeeping not see it?). My room had a tub, but the shower curtain was too short in relation to the height of the shower bar (it barely touched the top of the tub). The shower curtain was all torn, not fastened correctly, and thus could not align properly with the liner. I also noticed that the TV remote was missing in my room - I asked for another one which they delivered promptly, but did they not check the room before they gave me my key? I actually did find the remote the morning I was leaving underneath one of the end tables - but it does not invalidate my concerns. All of these things really make me question the quality control in this hotel's operations. Overall, The Blackstone sits at a 3 for me - which it really shouldn't, but here we are. I have stayed at other Marriott Autograph Collection hotels, and I don't feel this is one of their better ones. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good things about The Blackstone - but I feel that a hotel of this caliber and at this price point should have better accommodations and pay more attention to the details. If I return to Chicago, I would probably opt to stay elsewhere.

Wow!!!! This hotel was gorgeous!!! I'm usually impressed with Marriott's service not the hotels so much but this one!!! If I have my way I will ALWAYS be staying here. We got in pretty late and crazy enough the lobby was still busy but we walked right up and was given our room keys, plus the layout of how thing worked (brunch wise the next morning). The only thing missing (according to my youngest) was the pool. We stayed in a suite, could've been executive not really sure, but there was plenty of space! Our room had 2 queen beds, plus a pull out sofa. The bathroom had a double vanity and nice size shower/tub. We were lucky enough to stay on the 20th floor and had an amazing view! The night view was perfect to watch and even my youngest enjoyed it. The bathroom mirror also had a tv in it if you are the type to watch while getting ready. The beds were super comfy and there were 4 pillows for every bed. I can honestly say this is one of the best hotels I've stayed in and I would gladly stay again if in the Chicago downtown area.

Friends were staying here after the 4th of July. I and 2 other friends met up with them here. We did a mini military reunion and had a great time in the bar/restaurant. After the bar closed and we paid our significant tab we were saying goodbye in the lobby. I needed to use the toilet before my trip home and found the toilet locked. I asked the front desk if there was another option and the gym-shoe wearing little man with a huge attitude told me I could use the one in my room. I told him I was just in the bar and he said I was out of luck. Rude service kind of puts a damper on a great night.

The hotel itself is beautiful. The service is meh. When we reserved, we selected a room with two double beds on the reservation as we were traveling with my husband while he is traveling for business. When we arrived, after 4 pm, they did not have a room ready and we had to wait 20 mins for them to get a room ready. Once they called us they said they only had a room with a King and they said they could send a rollaway bed. We waited for the rollaway to arrive and it didn't so we call to have one sent to the room and we were told it was $25 a day. I told the woman that when we checked in they told us that they were going to send one because we had reserved a room with two double beds. She replied, "That's a request. Not a guarantee, so if you want the rollaway, it's an extra $25." Even though I did not think that was fair, I had no choice since we are traveling with our son and we all can't sleep in a king bed. The room is nice, spacious with a fridge. They must hold on toilet paper for some reason because our room had a 1/2 used roll and no back up roll. The next day, no one cleaned our room so we had to call for some and they brought a roll. The next day they did clean the room, but didn't add another roll of tissue, so the next morning I had to call. The woman that answered said that she had no one to bring it to me but I could come down to the front desk. So I had to put on clothes and get decent to go downstairs - maybe 15 mins later or so. Once I get down there to ask for the toilet paper, the front desk person says oh I will call housekeeping and have that sent up to you. I was so confused and said I just called down and they told me to come down and pick it up. She looked confused and went in the back and I could hear her talking to someone else. Then a lady came from the back and peeked out at me (I guess to see what I looked like) and then went back and I could hear her say, I don't know but housekeeping is here. Sighhh.... Three nights down and two more nights to go. The other thing about the hotel is that whenever I had to call the front desk (except once) no one answers and then it puts you in a general cue to be placed on hold until someone answers. The water pressure is very low in the showers and the doors to the bathroom don't close all the way so if you are sharing with someone you really only have partial privacy. There is not much in the area, so we had to take the train or rideshare a lot to get to the area where there is a variety of restaurants and shopping. Overall, the rooms are nice (except the doors to the bathroom) , but I think this has left enough of a taste in my mouth to stay somewhere else the next time I come to Chicago.

Gorgeous decor and wonderful valet and front desk personnel. The entire place needs a good cleaning. I realize it was a busy weekend, but honestly, this has been dusty and dirty for some time - you can tell. Love the location however. The displays in the lobby were disgusting. the restaurant was sticky on the tables both mornings and the floor was just filthy. Food was fine and good service. Just bring in a cleaning crew and do a summer overhaul of all surfaces especially displays and floors. Gotta be clean for this price. It could really sparkle!!

The worst part about staying here is the fact that I had to leave. Centrally located, beautiful hotel with views of the lake and Michigan Avenue. The art and the architecture of the place were my favorite parts. I loved seeing photos of famous former guests and reading about the history on plaques. The hall art gallery was most exquisite and surprising. I didn't know it existed when I booked the reservation. I was in town for a conference and the Blackstone was one of the recommended hotels. It was very expensive per night, but it's also Chicago--tell me what ISN'T expensive and I'll pay you a dollar. I didn't need any assistance during my stay but I did have some water and toiletries delivered and they arrived at my room without pomp or circumstance. I'm not sure if it was the driver or the hotel staff, but either way, I was pleased. Intermittently there was a doorman/bellhop at the front door or on the street offering to hail cabs and help with bags. It was a little nerve-wracking not knowing if someone was going to assist or not, but that's really my only complaint about the entire stay.

Excellent customer service. Outstanding location with beautiful lake views from hotel window. Beautiful hotel and gorgeous rooms with all the amenities. It isn't a busy conference hotel or loud hipster locale. It is a distinguished hotel with discriminating clients.

Beautiful and trendy hotel. Close enough to everything in the loop but far enough to not feel the busyness of the city. Rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Cannot say the same for the sofa bed so avoid using if you can. Bathrooms were sliding doors so there really isn't true privacy if sharing with friends however there are restrooms near the gym if needed. They have art on every floor of the hotel that capture the true heart of Chicago - many for sale. Unfortunately we didn't get to try the restaurant in the hotel. Overall it was a great experience and would consider staying here again.

I love the Blackstone. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous. It oozes class, but not like an antiquated Four Seasons. -This hotel is not for your parents. It is for the stylish though. Former guests have included the Astors, Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Lena Horne, Nat King Cole, and Rudolph Valentino. Even Marilyn Monroe. I stayed here while attending the National Restaurant Association Show. Choosing the Blackstone over McCormick's Place. A very obvious choice. The rooms are beautifully furnished. The beds comfortable. Service was great. Location is convenient. Recommend. 5/5

This hotel was absolutely amazing! If you're into history, architecture, and/or design, this is definitely the place to stay. We stayed on the 17th floor and the views of the lake were breathtaking! This location is also great because there are many shops, tourist attractions, and restaurants within walking distance. Be sure to look at the historical artifacts in the lobby and check out the Art Hall which is filled with amazing, colorful art. (Also, a perfect place to take photos!) Although it was closed, the Ballroom floor has a few locations for awesome photo ops as well.

Ooh Ooh Ooh!! I booked this hotel for a mini staycation and BOY was I treated like royalty! From the moment I stepped out of my car to when I checked out, everything was FABULOUS!! Service was impeccable, the room was gorgeous and the bed was comfy - like some hotels. lol Its the small details for me! The tv in the mirror, in the bathroom - PERFECT. The wall art in the hallways and inside of the room showed historic photos of the Chi. I loved it. I'll definitely come back to this hotel for another future staycation!

An incredibly memorable experience worthy of an entire album just attempting to showcase the beauty! Even pictures will not do justice! It's like a time travel experience back to the Marilyn Monroe era. She, among many other elites have enjoyed this luxurious hotel during those golden years. To add more elegance to my stay, the staff treats you like royalty, the room cleanliness is impeccable, the attentiveness & level of professionalism is by far at an exquisite standard. There is no comparison to the artistic beauty and grand experience you walk into from the moment you enter through the hotel doors.

Wow! History and luxury all rolled into one when staying at the Blackstone. Modern amenities but the historic charm remains. Main entrance is just around the corner from Michigan Ave. Heaters and valet await you when you pull up. The lobby really sets the tone of the general hotel feel - swanky and sophisticated but not stuffy. Check-in was easy and no issues. I noticed each floor when getting off the elevators had a different art picture - neat touch. There is also an art hall on one of the floors. Cool place to check out while you stay. I did notice that the hotel welcomes pets - two pets up to 75 pounds - for an additional fee of $75 per night. The gym was excellent - huge space with lots of different equipment and machines. Cool murals are on the walls with Chicago themes. Waters and towels were provided. Our room - the cleanliness of the room was a 4/5 - I saw some cup ring stains on the side table and the vanity mirror had some marks on it. Other than this, the room was clean. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a two-night stay. A refrigerator was hidden away along with a small coffee station. We had two queen beds and they were so comfortable - had no issues with sleep. Our view was not the greatest - straight on was looking at another high rise, but if you stood in the corner of the room, then you could see Lake Michigan. Netflix was an option on the TV as well. Bathroom was gorgeous - luxurious with the decor. The bar soap had a fun quote on the sleeve and it was actually nice to use the soap. Normally at a hotel you have the sad bar soap which leaves your hands feeling dry. Cotton balls and q-tips were also provided. The shampoo/conditioner was built into a shower caddy. Great hotel - clean, comfortable, all with historic charm.

Great location, space and vibes... Stayed at the historic Blackstone located right on Michigan Avenue right across from Grant Park. For this two night stay we were located on 22 floor with a view of neighboring buildings but a slight view of the park and Lake Michigan. Not only was the staff helpful and welcoming, the location could not be beat. Thanks to the great customer service from Shawn at the front desk for the great recommendations and help. The gym was well equipped for the daily workout warrior with plenty of space and equipment! While there was no hotel parking or good street parking, the hotel recommends the Hilton across the street for about $67 per day. We were able to find a nearby parking ramp for only $20 per day with in and out privileges which was great and walking distance from the Blackstone. Overall we are having a great stay! Will love to come back when staying in downtown Chicago!

Booked this place for an overnight stay through the Hotel Tonight app. When we got to the hotel around midnight the front desk didn't even have a record of our reservation. I had to call Hotel Tonight and have them call the front desk to give them my reservation details so that they could write it down by hand. Mind you this is 2023 and computers have been around for decades now. When we finally made it up to the room I realized the hotel charged me $260 in incidental fees, which is more than any 5 star hotel has ever charged me (this hotel is only 4 stars although it deserves less). I tried to call down to front desk to inquire but OF COURSE the phones don't work. I had to go downstairs once again to ask the woman why I was charged so much. Turns out the incidental fee is $150 and the rest was some extra charge she saw on some email(?) but she had told us she didn't receive our booking online. Very confused. Mind you this is at MIDNIGHT and all we want to do is to go to sleep. Additionally, this hotel is not well kept and it looks dirty and somewhat run down. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Hilton across the street.

Worst hotel I have EVER stayed at. It's crap. The room was extremely small, they added a huge desk that was just put on top of some old cabinets without a rolling chair!! Zero privacy when you're in the bathroom because the door doesn't close. Horrible hotel. Also, no free Wi-Fi!!!! What the f???

This is definitely a classy hotel. It definitely gives you the Old Chicago vibe. There are tons of architectural details in the lobby area. The best part of this hotel is the location. It is right in the heart of downtown within walking distance from several points of interest. Rooms seem clean. Service was adequate. Paid Parking is across the street. I enjoyed my stay.

Amazing stay and what made it all worth it was one of the kind managers showed my Uncle, Aunt, and I the infamous barbershop. It was locked and he gave us a full 15 minute tour because he wasn't busy! The history in this place is amazing, and he told us things you won't find online anywhere for anyone interested in Al Capone, Marilyn Monroe, JFK, and many other presidents who stayed there . The managers name was Nick I believe, but I could be mistaken it's been a few weeks. Slicked back, black hair, very professional and helpful. Also a few other staff members at the front desk on the day of the wedding were extremely helpful in getting me in touch with someone who knew how to tie a Windsor knot within a minute or two! Would definitely come back.

Don't stay at this hotel! It's the worst hotel. The staff is rude, there is no food. Don't risk staying there they cancel reservations while you are waiting for a room.

Poor service. We checked into the room and it was missing a bottle of shampoo. They made me walk to the front desk to pick it up. The fridge didnt work and our drinks were not cold. Housekeeping didnt turn the room over for our first night but barged in at 9 in the morning of our check out.

Beautiful boutique hotel with great service and stunning rooms. I can't wait to come back here and see more of Chicago while also taking advantage of more of the amenities.

I stayed for one night when i was in town for a show. The staff were excellent and the room nice. I regretted having only one night there.

This is an overly priced hotel that significantly lacks in the space of cleanliness. There were stained liquid drops on the window seal and pop corn and food crumbs visible on the floor and under the bed. The mattress topper was torn and ill fitted and it would come untucked every night. The windows do very little to block out the noise of street racing on S. Michigan Ave well into 3am. Additionally, the hotel has no wine bottle openers in the room or at the front desk. You have to take your bottle to the hotel restaurant and have them open it. Which, it doesn't open until 5pm.

Disconnect at about ever level. Checked in and had late checkout confirmed. Facilities never got info on day of checkout. No valet No sundrie shop on site Attention to detail just missing
