Blaise Inn

"Situated in the suburbs, close to the famous folly of Blaise Castle, this simply decorated village inn serves good value, traditional British dishes cooked with a skilful, modern approach – make sure you save room for dessert! As well as quality ales and a well-chosen wine list, you'll find a pleasant rear courtyard in which to enjoy them. Personable service completes the picture." - Michelin Inspector

Had a lovely family meal at The Blaise Inn on Saturday. It is beautifully decorated for Christmas so has a lovely cosy pub atmosphere. Both meat-eaters and veggies alike enjoyed the Christmas menu and desserts. Perfect location for a wander to the castle after dinner too. Overall highly recommend - we will definitely be back!

Sunday lunch was really good. There were vegetarian options on all sections of the menu. The sweet Potatoe and feta parcel was excellent. The meat dinners looked the part and our friends said it was good. All dinners had Yorkshire! Yey. Nice bottle of Voigner at a good price for being out circa £23. Team were really good and helpful, given veggies and a food allergy. The vibe was friendly, it was busy and quite noisy. If you like lots of space you may want to choose a quieter time. Felt a bit cramped for some tables. Team could not always get good access to deliver and clear. Not suitable for vegans on this particular Sunday. We would definitely go back.😁 Nice courtyard too if you just want to pop in with the dogs after walking Blaise Castle. Loved the doggie picture board.

Very lucky to have this as my local pub. Since the new owners took over the decor inside and outside the pub is much brighter, cosier, and gives the place a great atmosphere. There is a good selection of local drinks on tap, which is always good. I would like an IPA on tap, but it might not be that popular. Today was my first time eating there and the food was delicious. I had the pork belly and my wife had the bream. Both dishes were fresh, juicy and and flavoursome. It would be nice to have a few more options on the menu, like a lamb or beef dish. However, I’d rather a limited menu done well, than an extensive menu done poorly. Will definitely be eating here again.

Great Sunday roast 😋- staff pleasant & helpful. Beef was good, vegetables cooked perfectly and just the right sized portions. Thanks

Wow... What a turnaround. A fresh appealing menu and super friendly staff and modern interior. Last went to this pub about 6 years ago and the food and atmosphere were lousy. I'm delighted that this area finally has a good eatery that I can walk to! Loved the celariac and beets salad. Bream cooked perfectly and good choice of drinks. Sat outside - could imagine outdoor music events would go down well in future. So nice to see people out and a full pub inside and out! My only complaint is kids menu could be more appealing - just do smaller adult portions because food is exceptional and not all kids want fried food! Michelin guide recommendation well deserved and prices not over the top - let's hope the guide entry doesn't change that 😏 Will be back

First time visitor, introduced via our friends, came for Sunday roast. In an ideal world, a Sunday roast should exceed what you can make for yourself in my opinion. Too many are plagued with over cooked beef, or undercooked roasties or disappointing yorkies. Not here. I’m not one for hyperbole, but this was one of the best roasts I’ve ever had. Roasties were fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside, the yorkie had some crunch to it (but not too much), but the star of the show was the beef. Tender, tasty, well seasoned. In fact the whole meal was well seasoned. Sides of cauliflower cheese, cabbage and carrot/swede mash. I will definitely return, probably next Sunday!

Lovely meal this evening for 5 of us. The quality of the food was excellent. The steak was fantastic and the Brill good but a little on the small size. Side portions were on the generous side. An allergen menu was available - one of our party is a coeliac. Great service from Nathan.

What a delightful find. The Blaise Inn serves delicious food and has ever such helpful staff. We were in for Sunday Lunch but rather than a "standard roast dinner with a choice of meat" these were a collection of plates individually designed to bring out the best of the centre of the dish - delicious! as were the accompanying vegetables. And the dessert menu continued this quality excellent for us, panacotta delicately flavoured with that quintessential wobble. We will be coming back to sample the weekday menu.
