The Block at Woods Hill - Review - Seaport District - Boston - The Infatuation

"The Block At Woods Hill is the slightly more unbuttoned sibling toWoods Hill Pier 4. Slightly, because it’s still the sort of spot where a blazer wouldn’t be out of place and you can add caviar to your seared foie gras. But you can also walk in on a whim after work for a casual glass of wine (natural, of course) and some pig’s ear tater tots." - Grace Kelly

I attended a tasting collective event here with a special menu designed by the chef. It was exquisite. Everything from the food to the service to the presentation. Everything was super fresh and delicious and they really have the freshest ingredients. The chef came out and explained every dish. He was wonderful and so approachable. He even did a q&a for everyone. There was a salad dish with raw pumpkin in it and it was fabulous! I’m not sure how he made this special type of raw pumpkin so yummy. The tuna tartar was excellent. As was the steak 🥩 The dessert was to die for. It was a chiclet cake with pumpkin mousse. Would definitely dine here again in a heartbeat.

It's a wonderful ocean port side view restaurant with romantic and modern vibes. It was delicious to the last bite with lovely pairings of easy to sip cocktails. The aged tuna was a first for me and it changed my palate going forward. The pigs ear's tots is a must starter and the seared foie gras tastes like desert as it should be. I had seconds on both, it was that amazing!

Wow..I went with my 2 friends last night for a girls night out and we didn't even plan to come here. We were walking by and talked about how we wanted to try this place, and there were bar seats open, so we walked right in! 1. The service was fantastic. Our bartender, Emma Rue, came right up to us as we were sitting down. She was a doll. All the staff was so nice and made the experience a 10. 2. The food. We had already eaten meals and were only looking for a 1 more drink, but could help but order a few snacks because the menu looked SO GOOD! The focaccia bread, the pig tots, and the ice cream sundae were all AMAZING. 3. The drinks. I got the farmers special drink and it was beets, which sounds wild, but it was SO GOOD and the way that Emma Rue described it was perfect, which is even more impressive. The old fashion was also amazing, and we ended the night with a few glasses of orange wine. 4. The ambiance. If you are a foodie, sitting at the bar by the chefs counter is for you. We got to see them make everything and their precision, cleanliness, and professionalism was a 10. It was very fun watching all the cool plates be made. I don't think this is a place for kids, but it's a fantastic date night spot and I will be going back time and time again. LOVE!

New fave dinner spot? *Confirmed.* 😍 Had the BEST night at the grand opening of **The Block** in Seaport and I’m still dreaming about: 🥚 Deviled eggs with a kick 🥩 Melt-in-your-mouth beef carpaccio 🍸 A martini flight that made decisions impossible (so we tried them all) A charcuterie board that was almost too pretty to eat… almost 😅. The Block is located next to its sister restaurant Woods Hill at Pier 4. I can’t wait to come back.

I've been a loyal customer of Woods Hill Pier 4, so I was thrilled when I heard they were opening their sister restaurant, The Block, right next door. The food did not disappoint, and our waitress was phenomenal. We almost ordered the whole menu! Our favorite dish was the beef carpaccio. The only dish I think they need to reconsider is the tuna crudo; the ingredients just didn't go well together. When we were paying, we briefly mentioned it was my birthday. The waitress was so sweet and sent over a coconut purée as a gift! It was a perfect end to the meal.

Thank you so much for phenomenal experience from the attentiveness to the creativity of the meals. I’m going to tell everyone to run not walk. I felt like everything was so inventive so fresh you really let every single flavor shine through and some of the dishes I’ve never had anything like that before ! I need to come back ! I feel like I could discover something new in a dish each time I eat there . The highlights were definitely the Caesar salad and the lobster empanada and the flat iron steak with these crunchy butter pieces like butter, popcorn, steak it was amazing ! We also got the foi and of course ended with the soft serve shortcake sundae !

Overall decent spot, but I won’t be returning after what should have been their signature dish went horribly wrong. Ordered the Dry Aged Steak, supposedly their best dish. My girlfriend and I started eating, and we kept looking at each other confused. The steak tasted like fish. At first we thought it was kind of funny, but the more we ate, the more present and disgusting that fish taste became. Not like nice cooked fish either. Like standing on a fishing dock when the boats bring in their catch. We flagged our waiter, who said he’d check with the chef. The explanation? Probably the Worcestershire sauce in the bone marrow. Firstly, I know what Worcestershire sauce tastes like and this wasn’t that. Secondly, I separated the meat from all the sauces and tried each component individually. The fish taste was definitely coming from the meat itself. It was literally what you would smell when you are around raw unclean fish in a taste format. The weirdest and most gross thing ever. My hypothesis: They have display dry-aging chambers with fish and meat in separate sections. Either there was cross-contamination or some airflow malfunction caused the beef to absorb that fish smell. We left a quarter of an expensive steak on the plate because it was inedible. The restaurant basically shrugged and offered no real explanation or resolution. First time I’ve ever eaten steak that tasted like fish, and hopefully the last. Really unhappy with the way the staff treated this and hoping that they figure out the issue with their fish tasting steak for other customers.

Amazing dinner, decor, ambiance, and service. We loved all our dishes. Absolutely fantastic beef carpacchio and tuna crudo. The beans were magical, lol. The evening view of the sky makes it very romantic spot.
