"Furry companions are welcome at the Block’s heated dog-friendly patio, and there’s even a dedicated dog menu including meatloaf, a pup burger, and treats. Humans can dig into comforting specialties like broasted chicken, burgers, and loaded mac and cheese, with plenty of gluten-friendly and vegan options. Hours are 3 p.m. to 9 p.m." - Stacy Brooks, Eater Staff

"Next Thursday October 10, the newest project from the Craft & Crew Hospitality Group opens its doors—and its patio!—in St. Louis Park’s Historic Walker Lake District. Like Craft & Crew’s other restaurants (Stanley’s Bar Room, Al’s Place, The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar, Pub 819, The Bar Draft House), The Block Food + Drink aims to be a dog-friendly neighborhood hangout. And with its indoor/outdoor patio and heated floors, The Block will welcome pups year-round, regardless of the chilly days approaching. A long list of milkshakes is the star of the menu, each one with a frozen custard base and an option to add a boozy punch: the “Cereal Killer” blends Fruity Pebbles and Froot Loops with vanilla custard and vodka; the “Cookie Monster” spins Oreos with chocolate custard and a splash of Baileys Irish Cream. Human diners will find extensive options on the brunch and dinner menus: everything from burgers to vegan rice bowls, housemade soups to revamped bar classics. There is, of course, also a three-course dog menu: and canines and kids dine free on Tuesdays, one in a long list of weekday happy hour deals." - Julie Zhou

First time here and for brunch and we loved the place. The atmosphere is nice, kind of all purpose and has a unique style that seems to fit the building well. The staff was awesome and our server was very friendly and efficient, but the food was the star of the show. It was a unique breakfast/brunch menu that included the classic options along with some unique choices too. If this was any indication, I’m sure their lunch and dinner options are great too!

We embarked on an exhilarating trip to reunite with our friends at the block, and let me tell you, it felt like visiting a hidden gem I hadn’t explored in ages! The atmosphere was vibrant, and the pet-friendly patio was buzzing with happy tails and laughter, creating the perfect backdrop for a great evening. Now, let’s talk about the drinks, those slushies are nothing short of legendary! Don’t let their colorful, appealing appearance fool you; these icy delights pack a serious punch with their delightful blend of flavors and a robust kick of alcohol that’ll have you coming back for more! And oh, the food! The truffle fries were a heavenly experience, bursting with rich truffle flavor and perfectly seasoned, no overwhelming saltiness here! Every bite was pure bliss. The mac and cheese was luxuriously creamy, a comfort food dream come true, while the chicken was seasoned to perfection, leaving you craving another bite. Each dish was an invitation to indulge and enjoy, making the outing nothing short of unforgettable! The service was fantastic considering how busy they were. The location has a good casual vibe but the only 1 flaw is its small parking lot but they do have street parking.

Google
A great place to stop and eat. They have a lot of different types of foods to choose from. They have a nice outdoor patio that is covered. Overall, I would recommend stopping by for some food and drinks. I got the Buffalo Mac and Cheese with Chicken and it was great.

Google
Dog friendly restaurant (separate seating area for these guests). Reservations are very much recommended if you're coming during busy hrs. We tried the avocado toast, strawberry crostini, quinoa salmon salad, sweet potato fries, and Breakfast dog. All were delicious but the salad came with cold precooked cauliflower which I didn't care for, but everything else I'd definitely order again.

Google
The experience was fantastic. Very friendly and fast staff. Evan was one of the best waiters I have ever had. Even though we had 8 people he was more than accommodating for our split bill and making sure our orders were correct. The best burger I have ever had The Block is also very dog friendly

Andi

Google
BEST NACHOS seriously I ate the entire plate. The restaurant is always busy and lively, and the patio is the best for hanging out and enjoying your time! It is a dog friendly patio which makes it even better!!!

Google
This place was amazing!! Food and service were absolutely top notch! We posted up here while waiting for our dog to have a medical procedure nearby and this was the perfect place to go! Would 100% recommend this place to anyone. The diverse menu had such unique flavors and dishes, and we will definitely return to try some more selections! Thank you!!

Google
Visited the block for my mom’s birthday and it was a wonderful experience! The food was top notch and the atmosphere was wonderful. Not to mention that the pups had their own little menu too. We were able to bring our pups with us and they had their own little spot on the Pawtio! Adorable!

Yelp
We come here often!! No complaints in over 7 years of patronageship....Really! My favorite local go-to for good food & atmosphere

Nicole T.

Yelp
We love The Block & bringing all our friends here to try their delicious food. The service is always 10/10 and I have never had a drink concoction here that I didn't absolutely love. Their Margarita Slushies are so good! Food Recommendations: - Brussels Sprouts - Cheese Curds w/Spicy Jam - Buffalo Cauliflower (GF) My absolute FAVORITE - Royale w/Cheese Burger & Onion Rings - Cowboy Burger w/Truffle or Sweet Potato Fries - Loaded Mac & Cheese Skillet - Yum Yum Bowl It's a cozy restaurant with an at home feel. Not snoody but classy. I also love that they have a "Paw-tio" were you can bring your leashed furry friends as well as meals for them to eat as well. Come here & you will not be disappointed!

Jim B.

Yelp
The Block (like all Craft and Crew properties) never disappoints!! The atmosphere is so neighborhood based and welcoming dogs in their own area is a huge bonus for me. And I love that they take care of their staff with benefits. It pays off clearly in the attitude and level of service they always provide. The food was excellent (as always) and the variety of options to accommodate various dietary needs (including Vegan!) is truly admirable. You owe it to yourself to try out The Block (or one of the other fine Craft and Crew properties) if you haven't already. A word of warning though... it could prove habit forming

Cass A.

Yelp
Visited the patio during happy hour and decided to try the buffalo cauliflower. It was lightly battered, the buffalo sauce had the perfect amount of heat, and the ranch brought it all together. The staff was a delight to work with and the patio was gorgeous. I loved the inside/outside feel!

Mathea B.

Yelp
We loved The Block! I got a reservation last minute on a Friday night, so the only option was the Pawtio, but I was so glad it worked out that way! The dogs from other visitors were so fun to watch while enjoying our meal. My only complaint is that it got pretty cold as the night moved on, and I wish they shut the windows for us. The food itself was incredible! We had a tough time picking what we wanted, so our waitress helped. She recommended the Corn Fritters, which were so tasty! We also ordered a burger, the teriyaki bowl, and the cookie skillet, which we unfortunately did not get pictures of because we were so excited to eat them! The food was so delicious, and we are excited to go back and try other options from the menu. Our waitress was definitely busy, so it took quite a bit of time for our waters to be refilled throughout the night. However, when she did stop by, she was very attentive and helpful. We're excited to go back soon and try new options - most likely with our furry friend in tow!

Yelp
I ordered the Mission Fig burger because I do like figs and goat cheese, so it seemed like a good combination. I like that you can choose "Pink or No pink" for your burger, but the patties are smashed which means there's no real way to cook them except well done. It was good, but the figs are small and dried (see photo) so all they really added was crunch. I did not care for arugula on a burger because its peppery flavor was lost and it was very limp. I paid for a side of onion marmalade that I did not receive. Kudos on the onion rings! They were huge and the cornmeal breading had a delightful crunch. The side of mac & cheese was really bland. Boxed Mac & cheese has more flavor. I do appreciate the all-compostable containers because we have commercial composting through our trash company.

Ryan M.

Yelp
Have been here a couple times and the poke bowls are always great! Service was fast and friendly and there's a couple of patios to eat on if you're feeling outdoors. They are also pet friendly on the patios! The nachos were quite disappointing...there's 3x the number of chips to the amount of toppings you get, could be much better.

Bri K.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Love that they have an indoor pawtio that is dog friendly! Especially now that it's colder, it's so so nice having a place that I can still bring my dog to. The patio is heated, has TV's and is super cute! They've also got a doggie menu- my dog loved the Boxer Bites. I highly recommend!

Abbey W.

Yelp
This was such a fun place to stop and visit! Finding places that not only welcome dogs but embrace their presence is my kind of place! The dog menu and food/drink/dessert options for dogs is next level and I am HERE FOR IT!! So happy I brought my girlie with me so she could check it out too! The staff here were great and attentive to my needs, but also my dogs! The brought waters for us both, and provided extra pets for my dog as she was a little nervous at first being in a new space. They were great the whole time I was here, without being too overbearing but still checking in I came on a Wednesday afternoon for happy hour, so it wasn't too busy while I was here. They have some pretty good happy hour deals from 2-5pm! Most of the time I can't make happy hour hours, but I was glad to be able to check this one out! The food and drink options were great! I had the pretzel sticks which came out quick and were nice and hot, but soft at the same time! I also ordered the chicken bacon flatbread from the happy hour menu. The flatbread was what you'd expect but still delicious! I'm not gluten free/vegan, but the options they had available seemed to be a larger selection than most places which I love! Such a fun summer event to get out and check out a dog friendly place!

Laura C.

Yelp
If your looking for a place with a patio you can bring your dog this it is! Very dog friendly! Also, they have different choices for dietary needs as well that is great for a group of people who might all need different accommodation. The food is good but feel like it's a little over priced for what you get. Got nachos last time and there was very little toppings and mostly just chips, I would say it was chips with a spoonful of toppings. The staff are very kind!!! I will come back but more for a happy hour instead of a full meal. Heads up, the parking lot is very small so plan for some street parking, it is easy to find but beware if you have never been here before.

Yelp
It has been a long while since I was last at The Block, and I can tell you they have improved! I will start with the food because that is where the improvement is for me. We ordered some burgers and a beer for our furry friend. The food came out timely, it was hot, and seasoned perfectly. I could have ordered a second if it weren't so filling. I had a burger with garlic aioli, red onion, and cheese, and it was delicious. I upgraded to fries as well, and they were so good. I HIGHLY recommend The Block for a good burger. We also brought our dog. It was his first time out, so we were prepared to leave in case he was behaving or uncomfortable, but he did so well. That is also because the tables on the patio are well-spaced. He did quite care for the dog beer until we went home and could drink it in his own bowl, but that's not on The Block. He did chug it once we got home! The staff was also wonderful. They clearly understand the nuances of dog ownership and are adaptable. They loved saying hi to our dog. Whether you have a dog or not, I highly recommend the block for a burger, beer, and a good time!

Yelp
We stopped here (me and me mum). So, I grew up in SLP. I know my way around the place. That being said, we were totally confabulated in this neighborhood. Finally we got it. Parking was full. We scored a place across the street. The staff were on point and we scored an outside table strait-away. Our server was up on our decision to order right away. We did not get our drinks until our order though. Isn't it faster to mix a drink than grill a couple of burgers? My mother ordered the Royale With Cheese and the non-gluten option. When she received her order, she had no buns and what they gave her could have been part of some Olympic hockey training memorabilia. It was total crap. I would not have et it and she tried to do with half and failed. If you have special dietary needs don't bother. I had the Block Pub Burger and it was huge! Fortunately, I was very hungry. Chased it down with a Not Block. I was fine until I decided to chew on on of the jalapenos. Endorphins coursing through the bloodstream are always good, right? Our drinks came with our meal instead of ahead of time. We had to wave down our server: that shows a lack of attentiveness. She did do a great job, however. I would recommend this place to almost anyone. If you are looking for ambiance, look no further than your local neighborhood. Cheers, Paul

Leah T.

Yelp
Such a cute small restaurant. I love the dog friendly aspect. We had the Buffalo cauliflower which was delicious. The nachos while a huge portion just lacked flavor I. My opinion. The Mules my companions had were very good.

Vita B.

Yelp
Burger was decent . I asked for well done but it was burned on the edges but the rest of it was good. Chips it came with were cold soggy amd not good at all. Atmosphere is really nice , clean , modern . Server was great . Answered questions and was nice to us.

Yelp
The Block is a great place for any kind of meal! They have brunch, lunch and dinner! I've been several times and have always enjoyed the vibe of the restaraunt. Great drink options and friendly staff! The food sometimes takes a bit longer to come out and the prices seem a bit high. But all around, great place

Katie O.

Yelp
Made it into The Block to try their new summer menu! I ordered the strawberry patch mocktail while waiting for our table. It was refreshing, fun, and had a great flavor balance. For dinner I ordered the tequila lime chicken pasta. The grilled chicken was perfectly cooked. The flavor of the sauce was a bit interesting, but once I was a few bites in, it grew on me. Overall, good service, the wait times were reasonable given the large crowd there was. Inside was tidy and stylish. Will be going back, but would recommend a reservation

Mary K.

Yelp
Always pleasant and prompt - both before, during and after Covid! Broasted chicken is a must!! Dog friendly patio and menu too! Check out the daily specials and HHR on their website! Enjoy!

Brecklyn S.

Yelp
Great after work spot! Stopped here last week for a drink with a friend on one of our blistering summer nights, but we sat on the "secret" back patio which was PERFECT and totally under rated. It was 100% in the shade, quiet and entail great service. Our waitress was super attentive and made great recommendations. I had the spicy margarita and my friend had a variety of beers. We shared the burrata appetizer which came with HALF a burrata on each crostini, no skimping like some other places. We also had the half chicken with coleslaw and spicy sauce on the size... OMG it was to die for! A great snack on a hot day with a spicy/cold drink.

Yelp
An absolute gem in Saint Louis Park, The Block offers an unforgettable dining experience! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Attentive and friendly staff made us feel welcome and ensured our dining experience was great. The patio area is a delightful spot to enjoy a meal, especially with its super dog-friendly atmosphere! Now, onto the food and drinks! The Buffalo Onion Rings were a true delight, perfectly seasoned and served with delicious buffalo sauce and bleu cheese dressing. And the Blue Fig Burger? A culinary masterpiece! Each bite was a symphony of flavors, from the savory beef patties to the sweet fig jam. But let's not forget about the refreshing drinks! The Lavender Lemonade Slushie was the perfect summer refresher, while the Spicy Pear Slushie offered a delightful blend of sweet and spicy flavors. Overall, The Block offers not just fantastic food and drinks, but also great service, a dog-friendly patio, and a fun atmosphere that keeps us coming back for more. I can't recommend it enough!

Nicole M.

Yelp
This looks like a very dog friendly place, too bad we can't get cats to like going out to dinner! Lots of menu choices and a great beer selection, I loved my Pryes Pineapple Sour. One of our party got the daily special jalapeno burger, he said it was very good. I got the Vegan Jucy Lucy, maybe it was not quite fair to compare it to the original at Matt's , but it was significantly less juicy. The fries were perfectly crisp and golden brown, a good thing since one of my sons hates soft fries. There are no more COVID restrictions but I believe our server was taking care to keep people spread out. The bathroom was the most spacious, bright and clean facility I have ever seen! I guess that might be to allow room for dogs again, but there was no evidence of dogs having been in there.

Roshan R.

Yelp
A fun family night out made easy with Open Table reservation. Gave a note requesting. No high-tops as our five-year old was with us. The host recognized us, was so welcoming, and said we have the perfect table for you. Was a generous sized booth that could seat six, but meant our five-year old could spread out. The kid's menu is simple and easy with good sides. The main entree choices for the adults were wide and fun. We went for the Thai salmon and Original Tuna Poke. But meals were sizeable, well presented and great for the tastebuds. Our server was attentive, but not over-eager. We love this local spot, plenty of street parking, dog-friendly, and plenty of TVs to distract a certain wiggly one. We shall be back!

Shane D.

Yelp
The Block is a happening place with great vibes! I went with my family for a casual dinner, and we enjoyed some cocktails at the bar before having dinner on their enclosed heated patio (dogs allowed). The service was fast, and the food was excellent. We had brussels sprouts for an app - yum. For entrees, we ordered the half chicken, bleu fig burger, and the brisket grilled cheese. You seemingly can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

Tigra C.

Yelp
Gave me bleu cheese with my vegan buffalo cauliflower even though I specifically requested a side of buffalo sauce instead of the vegan ranch. So they got it doubly wrong. The happy hour waitress was actually very sweet and nice, but her shift ended and when we switch to a booth for our dinner service we got a waiter who was definitely an azzhat. Questions that didn't get answered. Lavender mule - not sure what it had in it bc he never told me. Nachos came out without the beans. He tried to tell me that the black beans weren't vegan when the menu literally says vegan nachos come with black beans. He was horrid. Asked about Muddy Paws cheesecake. He said he'd see if they had any but never came back with a response. I won't be back.

Kristine O.

Yelp
Awesome food, awesome service, dogs can come (on the heated porch). What more can you want?

Lana J.

Yelp
Food was ok. I ordered avocado toast and it looked very good, but didn't have a lot of flavor. Bloody Mary was pretty good. It was very loud in there. It was hard to hear or have a conversation with anyone other than that. It was a lively place. I don't dare bring my dog there only because it says it's dog friendly but they have so many rules for dogs that doesn't seem dog friendly. I went there with my son and he seemed to like it though.

Carter D.

Yelp
We love going to the block for lunch dinner or just a quick appetizer. Every time we go, we are met with friendly Service and a quick experience. Everything on their menu is fantastic their appetizers to their delicious desserts. they even have a "Pawtio"! The restaurant and patio has a lovely cozy feel that makes it the perfect neighborhood spot. I almost always get the triple Royale with cheeseburger and Im never disappointed. The nachos are also fantastic and they are stacked so full. It's almost its own meal. They have amazing wings and the hot chic sauce is so good! It's spicy and sweet it's delicious!

Jenny G.

Yelp
Great night at The Block Food & Drink! Slight wait when we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday, but we got seated quickly in about 20 mins. Of course we had to order the Ellsworth cheesecurds as an appetizer. They came with hot honey but imo it's better with ranch! We heard they had really good broasted chicken so we decided to order "The Whole Damn Bird", and it did not disappoint! The chicken itself was like KFC style, and it came with coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and cornbread. There is the option to get it covered in hot sauce but we requested it on the side. The slaw was my favorite part of the meal because it was super yummy. At only $28 for the bird and the sides, it's a great deal! We will for sure visit again!

Allie M.

Yelp
Food 4/5 - I love the variety on both the food and drink menu! We went for lunch and both got salads/soup. I was pleasantly surprised by the crisp and fresh taste of the Honey Pecan Chicken Salad. The French Onion soup was hot and full of flavor. Will be returning to try other menu items! Service / Ambiance 4/5 - We were seated outdoor in the inclosed patio which was surprisingly warm despite the cold wind that day. We received our food and drinks within a timely manner. They had such a friendly staff also. Only complaint would be the parking situation.

Richard A.

Yelp
First time visit and I was frustrated with the miniature parking lot and longer walk from the street parking so my attitude wasn't great walking in... ...but that changed quickly and kept getting better and better from there. Since I have no intentions of downgrading a review based in parking, let's focus on everything else. Lena (sp?) was quick to meet me at the host stand and she was able to get us a seat in the patio (outdoor seating, yay!!) I hadn't looked at the menu, since my colleague found this place online, but I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of options, including several vegan and gluten friendly options (bonus for food sensitivity awareness). I'm not vegan, but with a dairy intolerance I have found that vegan friendly restaurants are often more capable of accommodating my dietary restrictions, so this was a pleasant discovery. And, wow...a vegan Juicy Lucy and Vegan Mac n Cheese? Poke bowls, spring bowls, burgers and sweet potato fries? The menu was great and I must have been hungry because it all looked good. I decided to try the Juicy Lucy and sweet potato fries and my buddy tried the cauliflower bites along with the yum yum bowl. We both devoured our meals and found them very tasty and fulfilling. Have I had better food elsewhere? Sure. But the combination of food quality, variety, service and ambience make this a definite favorite going forward. I'll be back...even if I have to walk a ways from my parking spot.

PJ W.

Yelp
We love The Block! Great food, awesome beer selection and a dog friendly patio + staff who are always great and sweet to our dog.

Nikki M.

Yelp
Overall great service Limited parking but many spots with close walking distance. Front of house wasn't very friendly/organized. We sat on the patio and saw the front of house point guests to a table instead of bringing them to their seat. Our waitress and other staff were great! Our server was super friendly and attentive. I got the blood orange slushie margarita and it was amazing! We got the hot chick wings to start and they were delicious! Crunchy thin layer of batter and sauced to perfection. Great burger as well. Bathroom well taken care of and clean. Would come back/reccomend!

Michele B.

Yelp
Go for the tower of chicken stay for the ambiance. My friends and I were seated on the patio on a freezing night! Thankfully the one of us from a warmer country sat by the fire and stayed comfy. Sitting by the plastic wall was cool, but being a hot blooded Midwesterner I fared ok. But what wowed us was the winter decor! The branches, the birds, the twinkle lights. Chef's kiss. Two of us arrived early enough for happy hour and got margaritas. Good flavor, but hardly any alcohol by my tastes. Also got the street corn dip. It was pretty blah but the chips filled us up since the prep time for the whole damn bird was a bit longer our wait staff warned. It didn't seem too long of a wait. It was pretty good as well. Loved the chicken skin, but wanted more flavor or something. overall decent broasted chicken, but would get something else next time. Service was great! Everyone was very nice and super helpful.

Geneva A.

Yelp
When the block first open I would of rated them 5 stars. But as time goes on I feel like their quality has gone down and prices have gone up. You use to get fries with your sandwiches now it's chips and you pay more for fries. The vegan chicken sandwich is a sad little patty (for $17?!?). When they first opened they had good option from herbivorous butcher. We live very close and use to go often, but now really don't go unless it's for happy hour or daily specials. The service is fine, we typically sit at the bar, and we like the ambiance of the restaurant. But prices are getting out of hand for what you're getting.

Robyn L.

Yelp
Good food options, nice happy hour from 3-6. Dog friendly. Great custard/shakes. Service is friendly. We ordered the tachos, sesame salad, yum yum bowl, and bbq chicken sandwich. Couple reasons I gave four stars: -service was a tad slow- but we did come in at 3 pm which is an odd time of day. -some prices felt steep for what you got, and there was an added charge of employee health benefits which is something I'm not used to.

Michelle Y.

Yelp
This place got really busy shortly after I arrived so I would highly recommend making reservations. My party did make reservations but we weren't given the option of dining in the patio or inside and we got seated outside. It was very hot and everyone in my group were drenched in sweat while dining. They do have 3 ceiling fans but I couldn't feel anything until the breeze blew into the patio. Inside the restaurant has a lot of smaller tables and booths and doesn't look like it'll accommodate larger groups. Our server was great and friendly. Make sure to check out their weekly specials before going and if you go before 6 they do have happy hour! Special for Wednesday was the whole damn bird. I was a little skeptical when it came out as it looked like it could've been over cooked but to my surprise it was nice a juicy when I took my first bite! The sauce that came with it was a little on the salty side but it was still pretty good. The coleslaw that came with the bird was really good though! All the burgers and sandwiches comes with chips or coleslaw and if you want to substitute for fries there is an additional charge. When I browsed the menu online I really wanted to try the French onion soup but being seated out in the patio made me change my mind real quick! Hopefully I'll make my way around that area again so I can try the soup. Their parking lot is VERY small but there are additional parking spots in the lot across the street. Just be careful when crossing because car didn't seem to like to stop for pedestrians. Otherwise there are street parking as well.

Kelly U.

Yelp
Small home town tavern feel for a quick dinner out. Food was good, specialty is broasted chicken but a good number of options from nachos to burgers and a good sandwich board. Help was friendly, service was quick. It's located in an odd place and lack of parking is a problem.

Eliza W.

Yelp
Used OpenTable--need a reservation on busy weekend nights. Fast service for drinks, food, and check. Waiter was super helpful with being new to the city and recommending places to eat and fun attractions. Broasted chicken was AMAZING. Potatoes, cornbread, and slaw also phenomenal. I had the slushie vodka lavender lemonade--will get again! The habanero mix on the chicken is quite spicy if you're up for it. Indoor ambiance was very cool at night, not too loud even with full dining room.

Ben L.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I love The Block for its dog-friendly PAWdio, where we can bring one of our four legged pets. They have a nice dog menu (our dogs have tried the mutt-loaf and the pup-burger. The human fare is delicious as well. they have gluten free options. The prices are reasonable. it's a neighborhood restaurant that we return to about five times a year. A great addition to the community.

Allyssa G.

Yelp
Such a fun place! Visited a friend who is local to the area and she highly recommended this place! Food was good and service was quick and friendly! We sat on the outdoor patio since we had our pup with us. The best thing about it was the dog focused menu.. so adorable!!

Yelp
The block is always a treat. Fast service, good food, and excellent daily specials. The phuket bowl is my favorite dish!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I LOVE The Block! We've been here several times and will keep coming back because we've always had wonderful dining experiences here. It's got such a special place in my heart that we came here on my birthday for a dinner date one year. It's located in St. Louis Park and has free parking spaces and an extra lot across the street. It gets busy at The Block, but we've only ever had an issue getting a table once. During that occasion, they offered up bar seating which was fine, but since then, we've always chosen a table either in their indoor dining area or heated patio (pawtio for those with dogs). Our favorite menu item to get is their "Whole Damn Bird" with mashed potatoes and coleslaw on Wednesday's for $20 from 6pm-9:30pm (only offered dine-in). We always get the Tennessee hot - never fails to impress. The chicken is delicious - the skin's crispy (as broasted chicken should be) and it's the perfect amount of heat. Not overwhelming and leaves you wanting more every time! Can't go wrong with their mash & gravy. Neither one of us like coleslaw, so couldn't tell ya if it's any good, but I would assume yes if it's on par with the rest of their menu. They have weekly specials Monday through Thursday (Wednesday just happens to be our favorite special). Monday is $5 off burgers & trivia night. Tuesday is Healthcare Appreciation Day so if any healthcare workers show them their badge, they'll get 20% off their purchase (applies all day)! They give customers with a dog free bone broth with any food purchase on Tuesday's as well - such a cute idea for furry friends! Thursday's Teacher Appreciation Day (teachers get 20% off their order) day and you also earn double loyalty rewards. The Block is one of the places we frequent in the Twin Cities - I wouldn't change anything about it! The food's excellent and the staff are sweet and accommodating.

Yelp
Another trip to the block for brunch! Despite some semi-consistent disappointment over the last months, I manage to keep coming back because the atmosphere is just so damn great. However, the food & drinks have been more and more of a letdown. I recommend sticking with all things fried and chicken - everything else these days is a dice to be rolled. Our server was lovely, I just can't help but notice the continued decline in quality of food (cold, flavorless, flavor-off, etc.)

Yelp
Every time I have been to The Block, I have left satisfied. It has become a solid staple for me to bring my out of town guests here, and we all agree it's a hit. The food is flavorful and made with high quality ingredients. Plus a huge perk for me is that they have multiple vegetarian and vegan options that I'm actually excited to eat! Recently I tried the vegan Philly and it was delicious and super filling at a reasonable price. I followed up the meal with the show stopping house made key lime pie. With this dessert you really get your moneys worth, because not only is it a generous slice, but it is also dense in the best way. Perfectly zesty with the homemade whipped cream to balance it out. Not only is the food here amazing, but the service is generally fast and friendly. At peak times, servers can get a bit swamped, but it hasn't been to a point where it negatively impacted my dining experience. P.S. Try the onion rings!

Yelp
The block is such a fun restaurant to go to!! I had the Yum Yum bowl when I was there most recently, and it is one of my favorites that they offer! The rice, so sticky, the meat is so tender, and the jamminess from the egg make up a perfect combination for the bowl!! The service is so quick and friendly!! The best part about this restaurant, though is the setting! It is dog friendly, and they even have their own dog menu!! my dog loves getting their woof woof bowl, which creates a nice pairing to my yum yum bowl!! The decor is cute and modern!! This is such a fun place and I absolutely recommend this to everyone, there is something to eat for every palette!

Yelp
I've had enough additional food from this establishment that an update seems appropriate. I'm quite partial to the Brisket Grilled Cheese sandwich to which I add a side of tots. The sandwich is a very appealing combination of sliced beef tucked into some savory melted cheese on sturdy bread that holds the mess together (IMHO). I usually ask for some Garlic Aioli dip for the tots and occasionally will dunk my sandwich into the sauce. The fried chicken is not at all bad (although to me the heat is noticeably lacking from the spicier coating offered). A word about the Key Lime Pie. So far it's been served up as a HUGE square (or sometimes a rectangle). I can't finish the (tasty) serving at one sitting. Some others might gobble down the whole dessert and then smack their lips. Anyway I place the leftover treat in the fridge and nosh on it for a day (or more). How authentic is it or the serving, I don't think that is as important as the tangy taste, the appealing texture and the rich crumbly base. Arguably The Block is on the pricey side but not outrageously so as far as I'm concerned. It's of course still pet friendly and can be great for not just mingling/dating but also for groups and families. The staff has been unfailingly welcoming and helpful. Plenty of free off street parking. All-in-All it remains to this reviewer a casually upscale winner. On the way (I hope) to becoming a SLP institution.

Yelp
We loved the food and the service! I didn't see anything on the menu that I wouldn't order. I didn't see anything on anybody's plate that came by us that didn't look good. As ccliche as it is, they specialize in chicken, and the pecan crusted chicken in our salad was the bomb. Just the right amount of dressing perfect greens and fruit blend. You can take a salad for granted and then you have a really good one and remember what is possible.

Yelp
I think I found a new spot for the pup and I. The dog menu was impressive. The parking lot by the restaurant itself and across the street are convenient! I ordered a few apps, brussel sprouts and cheese curds along with a lavender mule. The pup had the banana treat and loved it. Everyone was so nice and sweet to my pup. Great thing about this place is the patio floor is heated and open year round for when those temperatures drop outside and you still want to get your dog out.

Yelp
Went here while my parents and their dog was in town last Saturday. Ate on the outside dog-friendly patio. Overall a good experience and I'd recommend it. Most of the food was delicious and high quality and the employees were very friendly. The minor issues we had: Parking was slightly annoying since the lot next to the restaurant is tiny, so you'll likely need to park in the overflow lot across the street. Some of the food could be better--my mom and I agreed that the coleslaw was pretty flavorless and disappointing. Also, we suspect they didn't list all of the ingredients on the pup burger. My parents dog had a bad case of gas after eating it, and usually that only happens if there is chicken in his meal. Nothing about the description seems to indicate use of chicken. Despite the shortcomings, I don't think any of that docks it a star, so I'm leaving it at 5/5.

Yelp
Last night at The Block got five stars for several reasons, but the biggest reason was our server, Keith. I brought an old friend for dinner (she's from out of town) and I know she had as wonderful a time as I did. The only shortcoming for her was that she found her Phuket Bowl too spicy for her (but it wasn't too spicy for a normal person.) I ordered the Whole Damn Bird so we could bring home leftovers which was great, too. You need to try their Broasted Chicken in some form and I love their cheese curds, but most of the food I've had there is pretty darn good. I love sitting in the bar area more than on the Pawtio or a regular booth/table, but I don't think there are any crummy tables in the joint. To top it all off, when it came time to pay our bill, Keith informed me I had $40 in Rewards available! So that was a nice little bonus. But again, it was our server, Keith, who really made our night out enjoyable. I'm so glad St. Louis Park has a Craft & Crew restaurant. It's just the right place to stop for a drink or a nice meal. Ask for Keith...
