We picked this restaurant because of the high ratings and it was walking distance from our hotel. It was a pleasant experience. They were busy but we were seated right away with a two hour eating limit. We sat outside in the walkway behind the restaurant. Nice atmosphere but cold at times. The our server was great and we received our food in a timely manner. We tried the grilled avocado Benedict and the crab cake Benedict. The food was fresh. The grilled avocado was amazing! The smoky taste was delicious. I’m convinced no one has decent crab cakes except for Maryland. The crunchy French toast were thick slices and the caramelized bananas were firm. The combination was tasty.

Good place for a quick brunch. This place was nice and everything tasted good. I prefer other places but if you're in the area and ned a quick bite to eat I would go here. We ordered a variety of things including the French toast, the Caesar salad and avocado toast. These things were good and surprisingly the salad had much flavor. The French toast is definitely a feature on the menu and it was really good. Staff was friendly and was a good environment. Overall 8/10

My experience was great, went here on a Sunday for brunch to wrap up a birthday girls trip. The place was intimately seated, we sat at the family style table in the center. Our food was amazing! The crunchy French toast, steak and eggs, and Buffalo Cauliflower were so delicious! The service was also great, very friendly staff. I will definitely add this to regular places to eat on my next visit to NY. Thanks Reese

A beautiful location for a restaurant. The outdoor seating is in a breezeway of the Worldwide Plaza which kept the customers cool from the summer sun. The service was relatively quick although a bit disorganized. The Cobb Salad was pretty flavorless but the Asian Salad was very good. Fries were soggy but okay. Decent restaurant for before a Broadway matinee.

We had a nice pre-theater meal at The Blue Dog. Food was great. We really liked the Notorious DOG burger with butternut squash fries. Make sure to get the butternut squash fries whatever you order. The butternut squash kale salad was also a big hit. The drinks were more hit or miss. The Blissful Barcelona combined tequila and port into a unique drink that I highly recommend. The Glen Coco gin drink was an experiment that should never have made it to the menu. The Saint Citron drink came incompletely mixed so the first half was not so good but the second half enjoyable. The server was stretched too thin and not particularly good at recommending options. But, the owner / host stepped in a few times to help the server so in total our experience was good.

It's gorgeous place. The staff is very professional, kind and quick. The food is delicious and the prices are not completely out of touch with reality. The only problem is that you probably want to try too many items as they all sound delicious, but if you aren't a competitive eater you'll probably have to come back a few times ;) I certainly will come back!

Worth the wait - about 1hr. Service was great, food was delicious. French Onion soup was especially delicious. Burger (Empire State of Mind) was hard to fit into my mouth, but otherwise interesting combo of flavors. Definitely will return as there are things on the menu I still want to try!

One of the best brunch I've ever had. The food was delicious. The atmosphere and coziness was amazing. Food quality and presentation. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back when I come back to NY. Robert was an amazing waiter!!!

Gustavo was an amazing server. The food and drink recommendations made by him were phenomenal! We enjoyed our meal. He added extra flavor to our date night! Go Gustavo!

Wow what a perfect spot for a pre-matinee brunch! Steven, the general manager, assured us we'd make our show and he delivered. Marlon was an excellent waiter as was all the support staff and this intimate menu perfect for a date or a large group like ours! They had usual brunch eggs, steak, pancakes and tartin. But they also had great brunches like burgers, chicken sandwiches and salads. Like all good brunch places, they had fun delicious cocktails. I loved the Glen Coco. Highly recommended and plan on going back for every Broadway show!

Excellent food and experience at Blue Dog!! Service staff are professionals. Food was amazing and loved the complimentary amuse-bouche (delicious and lovely touch). Entry to restaurant feels like a speak easy, hidden gem. It is a very small restaurant (around 50 seats) so definitely recommend a reservation but the size & moody decor adds to the uniqueness. Tables are close together or long shared table in middle. Less than 2 blocks from Gershwin theater so lovely to eat here before or after a show.

First of all this was impossible to find. It's off 50th street but you can't get in at 50th. You have to walk thru this indoor/outdoor area where the New World Stages are. I had to ask 2 people till I found the tiny door with a small sign The place is tiny and was packed with pre theater ladies who lunch Good breakfast/brunch menu. Nova lox salmon Benedict was delicious with a generous portion of lox. Perfect home fries and a nice side salad. Another had a burger which was good and another had an omelet choosing 4 fillings. Great service. Only a single restroom. One disappointment was the coffee. Bitter and too strong. We all agreed on that one.

This place is close to another place called the barking dog, which also uses a blue dog as their logo, super confusing. But I can tell this place is better. Very high class and fancy, but not pretentious. The Benedict's are very good. The wait staff is super professional. Check this place out for sure.

French toast was amazing! Crunchy exterior and soft on the inside. They have a movie playing inside and the inside is beautiful. Service is pretty decent too. I got the hot chocolate as there was a recommendation that they have the best hot chocolate. Sadly that wasn't the case, it tastes like normal hot chocolate.

This spot is a little hidden gem. And it is a little hidden. The entrance is not right off the street. Very clean and quaint atmosphere. The service was so great, very attentive. And the attention to detail is apparent from the glassware to the fresh squeezed juice. I am very much a basic breakfast person- this menu forced me to go outside the box a little. The Croque Madame might be my most favorite breakfast item I've ever eaten. EVER. It was so so good. And the salad was a nice light accompaniment. I may go back for this item tomorrow. Please go and enjoy! (Side note: the breakfast burrito and potatoes was also delicious- I was just blown away by my dish) **also just their normal cup of medium roast coffee is so good. Doesn't need cream!

Pleasantly pleased how cute this place is . It is a smaller space so making a reservation will help. The menu has Brunch all week ! I had the B.L.T.E. free-range sunny side egg/bacon/lettuce/tomato/mayo/mixed green salad. I ordered a side of rosemary French fries to add to the deliciousness. Your service was really good, very attentive staff. I enjoyed the food, and the atmosphere I would not hesitate to go back again .

This is an upscale American restaurant, with close quarters and quick service. We were seated inside along the wall and the tables are so close together that we had to slide the entire table over for my companion to get in and out of her seat. The food received mixed reviews at our table. The Tuscan chicken pasta was underwhelming - chicken was perfectly seasoned but overcooked, pasta was salted well but undercooked (chewy, beyond al dente), and the sauce was missing salt. The short rib was amazing! Tender and flavorful, mashed potatoes were also well-seasoned. For me, the drinks were the best part. I ordered the Glen Coco, and it was coincidentally "Mean Girls Day," so perfect timing. The drink was filled to the brim and well balanced. Overall, I would go back for drinks and maybe dessert!

Wow! We came here for a late dinner after seeing a broadway show and loved every bit of it. Service was friendly and professional. We also loved the decor with the big vases and tasteful design. Drinks were excellent, the martinis were wonderful. We loved every bite of food we had - we tried the calamari appetizer, the Asian salad, steak frites, a burger, and the mushroom gnocchi. Truffle fries were delicious! The Asian salad was surprisingly amazing, highly recommend. Pasta is freshly made! Already can't wait to go back

I came by The Blue Dog with my friend for brunch. We were both really hungry. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict and she got the omelette. The portions were really big but we devoured them overall pretty good price was also reasonable.

Came here for dinner, I devoured everything and forgot to take pictures. But trust me the food looked great and tasted even better. I wish the branzino was bigger but it was fillet, and the capers and accoutrement brought out even more flavor. The short ribs were great, nice and hearty, extremely soft and juicy. The décor is bespoke if I can call it that, being in/near the Theater District it made sense. Felt like I was in the sitting room at Downton Abbey (IYKYK). I find restaurants in this area to be overpriced and the food underwhelming, but not here. The service was very attentive, your water was refilled practically as soon as you finished it. Good: -Braised Short Ribs -Seared Branzino (fillet) -Chocolate Brownie Sundae -Blissful Barcelona (tequila) -Spanish Conquest (mezcal) -RSVP on OpenTable for 1000pts -Short walk from the 50th St. Subway Station (C, E trains) Bad: -Really tight quarters (beware for high top diners) -Portion sizes: I'd take at least 1 more short rib, and less mash potatoes. Branzino should be bigger for the price in my opinion

We've found the best Brunch right in the heart of the Theatre District! With so many restaurants to choose from in NYC, you'll be happy you decided to visit this one! They offer brunch 7 days a week, and it's the perfect pre-theatre meal. We especially loved the Apple Cinnamon Pancakes and Nutella French Toast, and their cocktails were some of the best we've had in Times Square! Everything from the salted caramel latte to the steak and eggs plate was soo delicious. The wait for a table for 4 inside was close to 45 mins for brunch on a weekend but my party agreed that it was worth it because none of us had a single complaint for our meal. The Blue dog has your typical bar feel without it being your typical bar with its vintage touches and even a projector playing black and white movies. Plates were almost licked clean & if I could I'd take the mugs home (unfortunately they weren't selling any at the time).

Although we had no reservation, we were welcomed kindly amidst a mad pre-matinee rush and they managed to seat our part of 6 in time to have a nice meal before our show. Although it's in a very midtowny building, the ambiance is eclectic, the vibe is cozy and the food was fresh. The star of the hour however was the service which was exemplary!

Price tag doesn't really live up to the quality of food. My medium rare burger might as well have been rare. The server was quite kind though.

Great place for brunch. Always arrive early to get reservations. Small place inside but in the summer the outside walkway is a great place to eat. Big plates with great variety of food. A local favorite with a homey atmosphere. The price is very midtown but reasonable.

Had brunch with friends (and kids!) and enjoyed it immensely! We were sat outside, which was totally fine, so that our kids could be kids haha! And way more room than the interior. Surprisingly, there was quite a long line for the bathroom, so if you're wanting to go, don't wait until you're about to bust. Service was good, food was good. I *thought* I'd see some Blue Dog paintings, but I guess I was wrong lol

Super great brunch spot near midtown/hells kitchen. I met my friends here for brunch on the weekend. It's such a cozy spot with pretty decor and plants. They were projecting a Charlie Chaplin film in there which was a cute, charming and whimsical touch. They have an array of items on their menu including tartness, egg sandwiches, omelets and main dishes. I ordered their Mediterranean tartine but added an egg on top. We also ordered some tater tots for the table as well as a fruit bowl. The food was delicious as was the drink I had! The service was friendly and attentive. Just be mindful that the entrance is kind of tucked away inside an enclave of a business building so it's like you're entering into the kitchen from the back.

Stopped in for some shareables after a play. The Mac and cheese balls were delicious. Everyone enjoyed them. The buffalo cauliflower wings were also a hit. We got there about 40 minutes before closing. We were seated and served quickly. Just what we needed. The restaurant is cozy. Great atmosphere. We were seated at a long shared table. If it were busy I can imagine it would have been loud but since we were there later it wasn't an issue.

The food and service were great. Best place to have a quick lunch or breakfast. The ambiance may not be very delightful as the tables are too close to each other.

Horrible service!!!! Took a long time to take our drink orders and bring anything out to us. Then brought the bill before the coffee and when they brought the coffee they told us we had to leave for the next party!

A lovely and beautifully decorated (albeit a bit cramped) little pub with excellent brunch and surprisingly big portions. The croque madame and breakfast burrito with chorizo were perfection. Home fries could use some work but otherwise a great experience.

My friend and I came here for lunch on a rainy Saturday. This place is super difficult to find, as it is not directly on the street. It is nestled inside Worldwide Plaza. We were told it would be a 20 minute wait to be seated, but it was actually 45 minutes. At least the restaurant is in an enclosed area, so we didn't get rained on while waiting. Once our table was ready, we were led inside, which looked cute with retro decor, but it was very cramped and crowded. I ordered one of my favorite brunch dishes: Steak and eggs. This consisted of NY strip steak, sunny side eggs (which I asked to be fried, then decided over hard was a better description because the waitress mentioned these 2 methods of preparation were very different and completely confused me), roasted potatoes (I substituted this with french fries), along with a mixed green salad. There was also a side of chimichurri sauce, which was full of bold flavor. The steak was nice and juicy, though not as tender as I would've liked. It tasted better with the sauce. The fries were wonderfully crispy and tasted of potato-y goodness. The eggs were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Service was pretty good. Prices were decent, especially considering the Hell's Kitchen location. I wouldn't go out of my way to return, but if I happen to dine here again, I would try the Pumpkin Stuffed French Toast.

I have not one decent thing to say about this location. The staff is completely frazzled and rude. My sister and I arrived 7 minutes before our reservation and they would not seat us nor let us grab a drink at the bar and told us we should "take a walk" in the rudest way. It's extremely tiny, too. Will never go back.

Quite a small place and not well marked to help find the only entrance they want you to use. Overall, it looked casual-smart and the staff were friendly. We tried their burgers that were cooked to order with a handmade patty, which offered the quick turnaround we needed. Not a well made/formed patty as it fell apart once picked up but tasted good. The fries were fine and they had a selection of alternative sides, if willing to pay an up charge on top of their already higher than usual costing burger.

Searching for a bloody mary near my hotel in the theater district, I discovered The Blue Dog Cookhouse And Bar. This place appears to serve their version of brunch not just on the weekends but every day. I was able to get a seat at their bar but the place was surprisingly busy for a Monday morning. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which was sunny-side eggs, a black bean purée, feta cheese, tomatillo salsa, cherry tomatoes, sweet pickled peppers, and poblano crema all over crispy tortillas. This was an explosion of flavors, colors, and textures, and tasted very fresh. The Mary Magdalene bloody mary was on the small side for $16 and had one slice each of lemon and cucumber. It tasted a little heavy on the horseradish and could have had more/better garnish, but I have had worse bloody marys. Overall, The Blue Dog Cookhouse And Bar has an eclectic food menu and a variety of drink options for your brunch, lunch, or post-theater cravings.

Very cute place! Have been here a bunch for dinner (I know they also have an amazing brunch). The food is great, especially the burgers. It has a very eclectic menu. The drinks are also great and the staff is very attentive and nice. (Apologies for the picture of the half eaten crab cake slider! Forgot to take a picture before digging in!)

Cute little spot on W 50th! The entrance was a little awkward to find but I bet their outdoor space is fantastic in nicer weather! The staff was friendly and attentive. The fried butternut squash was delicious,as was the aioli dipping sauce. I also ordered the broccoli and sadly it was a bit undercooked and over seasoned. I would go back to try other items on their menu though.

This was a solid brunch spot. The huevos rancheros had good flavor. I liked the crispy tortilla and the warm black bean puree. The pickled peppers were a nice touch that added some mild heat. The food is a bit overpriced (like pretty much any other brunch spot) but the quality is better than other options in the area. I waited 30 minutes to get in on a Friday without a reservation.

The inside is quaint and they have cute outdoor seating. Food: We loved everything we ordered!! The French toast was bomb! The steak and potatoes were seasoned well! The crab was really good as well my only issue was I had to remove the breading. The crab was seasoned but you can tell the breading was not and it was taking away from the crab. Service: Our server was fine. We had someone else come out originally and I kind of wanted to keep him instead. Overall: If we had time we would have went back again! Highly suggest!

I came into the city with a girlfriend to visit her son, who had been here before. This place was tasty! Nice selection of food, especially a variety of bennys. Could use more seating. Service was pretty quick. Overall, no complaints.

Popular brunch place in Hell's Kitchen. Great service and big portion of food. I really love their juicy burger that is very tasty.

Cool theater district breakfast, brunch and burger spot. Can get crowded. Unique small indoor bar/restaurant on the street side that might hold 20 or so customers. Then a vaulted outdoor covered area with 40 or more seats that looks like the inside of the US Capital building with high arched ceilings. It will keep you dry, but doesn't protect from the wind or cold. Service was excellent and the food was unique and presentation was spot on. Breakfast food eggs and pancakes looked great. Had the salmon burger ($29) with an excellent fresh salad and the crispy chicken thigh sandwich ($27) with natural cut crispy fries. It has spicy gooey cheese and bacon which had a tender chicken cutlet. Both were really delicious. Had a Forst Italian beer ($9) which was better than a Stella. The coffee was unlimited but a bit disappointing, a little bitter. I'd return, and the best part was on a Sunday plenty of street parking right in front. All Broadway theaters nearby.

This is a very interesting little hidden gem right on the outskirts of the Theater District/Hell's Kitchen, steps from the 50th street C/E in the beautiful World Wide Plaza (pinkish stone complex) Reservations are a MUST as this is a busy restaurant and pretty small..not like some of the tiny Thai places nearby, but for a bustling full service space, it's "cozy". You will be sitting knee to knee with the person next to you, in this den like space. Menu is varied and has something for everyone. There are not that many great traditional restaurants in this area, but this is one of them.

Excellent restaurant! The food and service were amazing! I had the ceasar salad with grilled shrimp and my mom had the Asian salad with chicken...both delicious! This is a very small restaurant, be sure to make a reservation. Also, it is a little difficult ti find. It's almost like going into an office building...like going through a back door of an actual restaurant. Definitely worth going!

Walked up on this gem, limited seating and looked like a wait, but the host said 15 minutes and had us at the bar. Food was awesome, the mimosas were great, but it was a little on the warm side. The Autumn Harvest burger with the Parmesan fries was fantastic. Highly recommend!

We walked by this restaurant 3 times before we found it. 8pm reservation on a Friday. 4 of us. Burgers and fries, and wine. cute, Intimate. Good food. I would come back if in the area.

My friend used to live right across the street and it was impossible to get a spot without an hour wait. Today I finally made it - with no wait at all! A friend and I shared the spinach Florentine Benedict and the stuff pumpkin French toast. The spinach Florentine was okay, nothing out of this world. The potatoes were a little undercooked. Overall, the dish was all right. Now, I must say that I love pumpkin. I'm the person running for the first pumpkin chai first week of October so expectations were high. The stuffed pumpkin French toast is tinyyyyy for $24. Let's start there. It's the size of dessert, kid you not. The surrounding bread is not soft and overall the dish isn't sweet enough. I think I'll come back to the crunchy French toast but not rushing back.

This was kind of hard to find as the entrance is kind of not where you think! It is a very cute, intimate, and dark space indoors though. I think the appetizers of dumplings and the pasta were great, very tasty and filling with lots leftover. Service was great although it was kind of a very low-volume night. I can't find the drink menus online but their cocktails were rather tasty and I had about 2 different ones and remember them to be very floral/refreshing so that was also nice.

Definitely recommend this place. I'd come a little early if you don't have a reservation. A really good brunch spot if you're in the area Pumpkin stuffed French toast 4.5/5 Really delicious and unique. It wasn't overly sweet and didn't really need syrup. I think my only wish would be that it was a larger serving because of how delicious it was

Food - astounding. This is most important to me and the kitchen delivers. Service - impeccable. Cocktails - excellent. Love the overall vibe of the place too. I don't love the servers looking over your shoulder when they give you the iPad and you determine their tip. And the windows overlooking the street -- which are super cool - could be cleaned a little more frequently it seems ... but these are minor quibbles. Definitely a 5 star experience IMHO.

Great option for brunch although its a bit pricey around $25. Service was great, waiter gave a great recommendation for the French roast and also was nice enough to accommodate change of toppings. The seating area outside is not really outside. Its like a mini bridge. A small vexation close by so its nice and refreshing to sit by after eating.

This place is a solid choice if you're in the area and in need of a breakfast spot that opens a bit earlier. This restaurant is located near Times Square, so expect tourists galore and a packed venue after 11 am. My friends and I walked in at 10:30 and were promptly seated without a reservation, even though our whole party wasn't there yet. The quality of food was inconsistent. The quesadilla was delicious and the veggies were fresh with a little bit of bite. The omelets were pretty underseasoned, however, and my friends were disappointed by the blandness of the egg even after self-salting. The potatoes were also very underseasoned and tasted like plain boiled potatoes. Come here for a definite full stomach and attentive service, but maybe forego the omelette for another menu item.

Made a reservation a few weeks in advance for our party of 12 (including 7 children)... we were greeted and seated immediately. The food was SO good from the Mac and cheese balls as appetizer to the churros for dessert... and everything in between (steak, gnocchi, pasta)! Service was wonderful. All of the kids specific requests were executed beautifully. The perfect finale to our five days in NYC.

What a cute place! We came for a later breakfast and even though we didn't have a reservation, we got a table right away. Everyone was attentive and nice, our food came out incredibly fast, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We even got a to go order which came out faster than the second round of cocktails we ordered. I would definitely recommend eating and drinking here.

Staff was amazing. They were able to seat us even though we didn't have a reservation. The waiter was very nice & attentive. Appetizers were delicious. We got 2 burgers and I was a little disappointed. They were flavorless. We went there for the burgers. The interior was nicely decorated just the tables were very cramped.
