The Ultimate Hotel Restaurants Near Philly

"Since 2017, this restaurant located inside the Avenue Inn & Spa boasts a diverse menu that’s known for its dynamic pasta dishes. But the true culinary treasure here is their crispy fried chicken that’s beloved by locals and tourists alike." - Ernest Owens

Where to Eat and Drink in Rehoboth, Dewey, and Lewes, Delaware - Eater Philly

"The Blue Hen is a crowd-pleaser. There’s a seafood plateau for those craving a raw bar moment; crab cakes and spaghetti with crab for those looking for mid-Atlantic seaside staples; and hanger steaks and burgers for those in the market for something more substantial after a day at the beach. A short and sweet drinks menu hits all the marks with a thought-out list of cocktails, beer, and wine." - Caroline Coral

Beautiful evening spent by their outdoor fireplace. Great service and atmosphere. Chicken Corn chowder was amazing as were the biscuits, scallops, lobster toast and drinks especially the Frose'. The hotel even serves delicious chocolate chip cookies to their guests. It was the perfect start to our weekend getaway just after labor day.

After being recommended this restaurant & eating there, I unfortunately got food poisoning. The symptoms came on a few hours after eating the crab cake sandwich at the Blue Hen. I’m currently still battling with the symptoms. Folks that I shared the meal with also complained of similar symptoms. Beware if you choose to eat here.

Great dishes, terrific wine list. Server was very good. Only fly in the ointment was the paneling issue above the table. It was in some state of repair and was distracting, really a decor killer. But we loved the food and service.

We've been to the Blue Hen numerous times and love the food there esp the fried chicken. As usual my kids got their chicken tenders perfectly cooked. Unfortunately my order of the fried chicken was not only over done (almost burnt) but it was so oily that I had to use multiple napkins to squeeze the oil from the chicken to make it more edible.

We checked into The Avenue Hotel & Spa on Friday evening and slipped right into The Blue Hen for a late dinner. The atmosphere is always really nice there and so is the staff. We sat at a hightop in the bar area. Lighting was just right, gas fires were running outside but it was drizzling, so we stayed in. Dining room was busy. The crowd is always a mix of visitors and locals with a happy, festive feel. We had hoped to watch the Women's Final Four but the bar crowd was already engaged in soccer and a dog show on the monitors. (note that this is probably not the ideal place to watch a game and the bar team isn't in tune with the current interests in sports). The food was excellent - really fresh! I had the beet salad minus the cheese and a shrimp cocktail that was accompanied by house made cocktail sauce. This made for the perfect gluten free-dairy free meal. My husband enjoyed his generously sized and yummy burger. As a Blue Hen alum, this place always gives me the warm and fuzzies with its blue hen adored plates, and beautiful wall art tribute. We always make it a point to stop here when in Rehoboth.

We ended up here when another restaurant had a 2 hour wait, and we’re glad it did! Blue Hen was fantastic. Every app, entree and dessert was delicious. Our server was great. The atmosphere was perfect.

Google
Service was phenom. Frosé was SO good. Food was delish. I only went for Happy Hour (starts at 4!) and makes me want to return for full dinner.

Google
The service could be a little more refined, but our waitress was f’in awesome regardless. She tried her hardest, and it was shown through her dedication. The food was SPECTACULAR. This food definitely deserved more than its “semi-finalist” James Beard, but the ambiance and service once again could be a little more polished. Highly recommend the biscuits and kid’s chicken tenders. The chicken tenders were delicious. (Or fried chicken if you don’t have any kids.) Scallops had excellent presentation & were melting-in-your-mouth!

Yelp
So great, we had to eat here twice in one night! We first stopped at The Blue Hen for their happy hour where we enjoyed a round of drinks and oysters, and then returned for a full meal later that same night. In both instances, we received excellent and prompt service from a pleasant and attentive team of hostesses and waitstaff. DO NOT MISS THE BISCUITS, which were to die for: fluffy and large with a delicious crust and served with butter and house made strawberry jam. Our party ordered a variety of dishes and everyone loved theirs. The unique pasta dishes won special praise for plating, flavor, and perfect portion size. If you need an assist with a wine selection from their generous menu, ask to speak to the sommelier who's a co-owner of the restaurant. She did a fantastic job. We'd definitely come back and recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
Maybe we just caught them on an off night but the food left nothing to be desired. Both entrees (Sea Bream and crab cake) had zero taste. The drink couldn't be made because they had no crushed ice. Again, maybe I just caught them on an off night but nothing made me want to return. Also, is it a club or a restaurant? The music was so loud you couldn't hear your table mates.

Yelp
We stopped in for a drink but ended up staying for dinner. The fire-pits outside and the cute bar inside changed our mind to stay. My son loved the biscuits especially the honey butter. His fried chicken was so crispy and light. The mac and cheese was ok, he didn't like the type of pasta in it. My hubby & I shared the steak tartare. Presentation & taste were 5 stars but the amount wasn't enough to use up my slice of sourdough bread. We wishes we had more. The marrow was a nice touch and de-licious! My Tuna crudo was my least favorite dish. The mango sauce was too sweet and over powered the delicate tuna. I wouldn't order again. My husband was disappointed in his pasta dish, not enough favor and he didn't like the type of pasta! 3 out of 5 dishes were winners. Lastly, our waitress was awesome!

Yelp
The blue hen was a very nicely decorated restaurant with a good presentation of ambience. Lots of windows let in light to remind you that you were in a touristy seaside town. The outdoor warmers on the front entry patio danced with flickering flames adding to the ambiance even in the dusk the wait staff took a team approach which was good The calamari was good. And topped with a sweet aoli and carrots and peppers. The fried chicken platter was good A bit pricey ($29).but you have got to pay for that decor. The chicken wand tender and fried well. It was season on the outside but could have used a little marination to bring out the internal flavor. The collard greens were real good. Tasted like somebody's grandmother was in the kitxhn. Good flavor of the vegetable itself without any sugar or vinegar. The Mac and cheese was good but could have benefited from the cheddar cheese in the mix. Good experience but would explore others in the future. Been there done that.

Yelp
We had a wonderful date night at the blue hen! The server was awesome, we loved the vibe of the place and the food was amazing! We started with the seafood platter and a salad to share. for dinner I got the scallops and my partner got one of the pasta dishes, I forgot the name but it had crab in it. It was all so very fresh and we would absolutely come back again!
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome food. I started with an Old Fashion and the Lobster Toast. Both were amazing. For my main, I ordered the Duck Leg and it was phenomenal. The service was on point and the atmosphere was just excellent. Definitely would recommend

Yelp
Good date spot in rehoboth but we had a mediocre experience. We were sat next to a large table with 3 kids who were very noisy... the indoor seating doesn't have noise control. The voices reverberate inside the dinning area. The food was good but nothing special. Octopus was chewy and the avocado didn't complement well. Scallops were good but nothing unique. There were 5 scallops and 3 potatoes that are cut in the shape of scallops. Service was attentive and quick. We didn't make a reservation and was still able to be seated without a wait on a Saturday night in the summer!
google avatar

Lenora K.

Yelp
Phenomenal! This restaurant has become better than Henelopen and Salt Air! Impeccable service, unbeatable ambience. All day happy hour Tuesday and Wednesday. And the braised pork ravioli was among one of the best things I ever put in my mouth... one of them
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for happy hour and had an excellent experience. The service was friendly and attentive. It wasn't terribly loud or anything - a great vibe for chilling. The food was so tasty. I got a bit too much to drink, so I only clearly remember the oysters, but my friends raved about the other food we ordered. For example, we ordered a side of biscuits and they came with a surprisingly delicious guava jam. They have a great happy hour deal on a half-dozen oysters so we had tons of those. The star of the show, though, is their frosé. I think it's normally $12 or $13, but it was $8 for happy hour. It's strong and smooth and refreshing and not too sweet. I downed 2.5 of these bad boys on an empty stomach and some oysters. If I come back to Rehoboth Beach, I would absolutely be back!

Yelp
Food was fantastic! And I like that they changed the menu. The Parking was a pain, as expected. The service was ok, I kinda expected a little more from our server. Maybe she was having a bad days who knows. But the food definitely made up for that lol.
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
The food and drinks here were great. The classic julep and the aperol spritz were refreshing and well made. The oysters were also fresh and delicious. The spaghetti wasn't heavy and had good flavors. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating available. The service was good and I had a nice experience overall.

Marc F.

Yelp
The staff is amazing and kind. The food fabulous and the drinks creative. Also the patio is so lovely.

Yelp
Great food, delicious and *strong* cocktails, great service at the table and the bar, nice *cool* vibes. Really enjoy coming here.

Yelp
My wife and I had a lovely dinner meal on the outside patio while spending a few days at the beach. Information online was confusing as to their Happy Hour hours, so we missed out on that, but our cocktails and the few dishes we shared were all quite tasty. We shared a zucchini bloom appetizer special, a summer salad and their lobster toast. The zucchini blooms were stuffed with feta cheese, lightly breaded and fries until golden brown. They were served with a spicy remoulade sauce that complimented the creamy feta just right. Honestly, the summer salad was a bit too bitter for my taste, but my wife enjoyed it. The greens were mesclun topped with watermelon, cucumbers, feta and a vinaigrette dressing. The lobster toast was the most intriguing (and tasty) dish...think upscale grilled cheese. The grilled bread contained a cream cheese mixture of lobster, scallions and celery topped with spiralized cucumber and a hot pepper jelly. It was such an unusual flavor combination, but it worked! Would definitely like to return during proper HH times and also sample a larger portion of their menu.

Yelp
The Blue Hen had great ratings and the restaurant was welcoming. Our host and our server were kind and attentive. We ordered the heirloom tomato salad which was tasty, but the tomatoes were not cored properly, so we could not eat all of the salad. The fry on the chicken was thick, and separated from the skin, which was not appealing; however, the chicken itself was cooked well and the fry was flavorful. The mac and cheese was soupy and needed way more cheese, a better crust, and a bigger pasta. The crab ravioli was tasty, but the portion was quite small for the price. Drinks were great, and the ambiance was lovely. Overall, too pricey for what you actually get food wise, but location, ambiance, and service were great. If the food could match, this place would sing!

Yelp
JACK TOTALLY ROCKS!!!! We enjoyed happy hour at the fire pit and then indoors! Food was fun too!

Yelp
Absolutely lovely. I am shocked at how fast we got a table for 6 on a Saturday. The seats are very heavy. I love a sturdy chair. We were seated near the kitchen, which was fun to watch all the bustling of the staff. We started with oysters and biscuits. Every meal should start with these BISCUITS! Perfection. Soft center, but thoroughly cooked. Crisp outside. Served with plum jam and honey butter. The hubby butter was beautifully delicate. My only comment on this front is it is really elevated with a pinch of salt. The entrees were big, so I split three appetizers, which also allowed for more sampling. The salad lyonnaise was gorgeous. The croutons were not super crisp, but felt purposeful. The caramelices cauliflower was lovely, though I saved it for last and was very full by that point. Get the F*CKING lobster toast. You will not regret it! Also I got an Employee Party cocktail. If you love mezcal, it will be hard not to get two. Great and attentive service. Highly recommend!

Richard D.

Yelp
Excellent food, but a little bit overpriced across-the-board. For example, oysters were noticeably smaller than the same oysters at a neighboring restaurant.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
Went for an early dinner with my husband. Started with the It's Good For You cocktail, which was like a green jolly rancher margarita. We split the blue hen chips, which was okay. My husband had a pasta dish that was an 8/10 and I had the fried chicken that was a 10/10. Wait staff was pleasant.

Louise P.

Yelp
Went from happy hour. Delicious food. I struggle to find good quality food while at the beach and this place does the spot. 100% would recommend.

Beth R.

Yelp
Last year we came to the blue hen and didn't really love it. We decided to come and give it a second chance and we were impressed. The fried chicken was delicious but the pasta wasn't great, The biscuits were amazing but for lager party's beware as you only get three biscuits. I would definitely recommend it.

Karen E.

Yelp
Great food. If a bit salty. Wait staff helpful. Bartender is aloof. Owners family worked hard.

Yelp
Simply amazing ! Do not be fooled by the low key lack luster dining room . The food is beyond delicious . Creative unique and worth repeating . Highly recommend the soft shell crab while in season - prepared with care and flare for flavor forward non traditional palette experience ! Kudos to chef Julia and staff!

Scott N.

Yelp
A friend said to check out the Blue Hen and I'm glad we did. The Lobster Toast is simply amazing, as he said it would be. Then we doubled down, getting the lobster roll. Exceptional. It came with a pile of Boardwalk fries. The service was great. And the place had a relaxed coastal vibe. We'll be back!!

James O.

Yelp
Family of 5 and a 16 month old, everyone's meal was perfect. Grandson really enjoyed his scollops meal!
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
The carrot dish & delicata squash from the happy hour menu were two of of the most delish things I've ever eaten in my entire life. Truly made my vacation! Vibe at the bar was amazing & the decor was awesome. 10/10 experience!
google avatar

Siobhan L.

Yelp
This was our first meal in Rehoboth and they set the bar high. The staff was friendly, our server Jack was attentive, the decor was adorable, and (most importantly) the food was amazing. The biscuits are a must to start. I had the scallops and they were perfect. The horseradish sauce perfectly complemented the dish. My husband had the filet which was also delicious. The cocktails were great too.
google avatar

Yelp
The Blue Hen, connected to Rehoboth Beach's The Avenue Inn and Spa, is as good as any five-star destination restaurant I've indulged anywhere in the U.S., including NYC, Vegas and Palm Springs. The experience was superlative, from resplendent ambiance and efficient team service to the exquisite food. My pal and I started with a half-dozen East Coast oysters, which were petite but delicious; and for entrees, I had the rich and robust Mafaldine, with "pasta ribbons, bacon, artichokes, lemon, cream and pecorino," while he had seared diver scallops, which were enormous and exceptionally meaty. Utter perfection!
google avatar

Keiko E.

Yelp
Pretty good food , but we were not crazy about the Curry Pumpkin sauce over Soft Shell Crabs.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a delicious dinner (somewhere else) and just wanted dessert. When we were seated, we noticed a family nearby was ordering. We commented because we were there without the kids. We ordered two blueberry scones. My husband ordered ice cream with his. It was an extra charge, and I thought they were expensive on their own. We waited and waited for our scones. They family near us was served their meals. We waited some more while we talked about leaving and going to a random ice cream stand. We waited and talked about the fact that they must be baking the scones fresh. The family finished their meals. We were served cold scones (that tasted like Bisquick) with a few blueberries on top. Mine was bitter with a strong baking soda taste. My husband said the ice-cream helped. The family paid their check and left. We waited for the check. We talked about what we would do the next day. We waited some more and discussed how easy it is to make blueberry scones. We finally received a bill and paid. I would say they were understaffed but the family near us had no problem ordering, getting their food, and paying their bill.

Yelp
Best meal I have had in a long time. High quality. Service is good. The lobster toast is drool worthy. I wouldn't say it's super kid friendly. In the summer the tables are packed in and it can be noisy. They have fire pits outside which are fun

Amy F.

Yelp
We were immediately seated inside on Thursday August 22nd around 5:30 pm. The dining room was basically empty except for one table who had their food. Five to six tables were then seated after us. We ordered appetizers and entrees, similar to the tables around us. ALL of these tables received their entrees prior to us. When questioned we were told they were on their way out. Another ten minutes I asked to speak with a manager. I asked the bartender who the manager was. The manager refused to turn around and speak with me. She told the bartender and our waitress with her back to me that she was not turning around. When I approached and asked again who the manager was, she whipped around and said your food is coming out. They did not want to put in the food on top of the appetizers. We still waited after this encounter. We waited well over an hour for our food. Again all of the tables were almost done their food at this point. The manager never came to the table to apologize. In fact no one apologized. Instead it was excuses of not wanting to bring the food out too fast. The appetizers were biscuits to share and oysters which was someone's dinner. There was nothing overly filling to hold back the food. More excuses when the waitress brought the food ticket out and starting rattling off the times the food was put in and then said the food order was placed timely and just got shuffled in the kitchen. The absolute kicker was once again the manager never came to the table and the waitress with her attitude placed the check on the table and says we comped your biscuits. A horrible customer service experience. Would NOT recommend. The manager at The Blue Hen in Rehoboth needs to actually learn what customer service is and not hide behind her pink flannel shirt from the customer. Talking about the customer when they are standing there is crazy. The owners of this establishment should be embarrassed of the waitress and manager and how this experience was handled.

Yelp
Wonderful gem. The food was all good. Beet salad was solid. The service was good except a little slow. And frose was delicious and we had the raw seafood platter and the ceviche was so fresh and delicious.

Joanne M.

Yelp
The food was great. Our server was fun and efficient- she told us her favorites. Cocktails were delicious! Celebrated my husbands birthday and they comped the dessert! We will be back. A little noisy but they seated us right away.
google avatar

Lynn L.

Yelp
Food is good....but the noise level is way too much....no way could we stick around and chit chat over more cocktails and dessert.
google avatar

Erin F.

Yelp
We love the Blue Hen! My favorite is their seafood platter appetizer- but I was so bummed that we couldn't order it for take out recently because they didn't have the right boxes to store it? Like hi I'm trying to give you my money! Lol but they are always consistently delicious and while pricey- it's a great option for an amazing dinner. One of the fancier/classier places in Rehoboth and we'll continue to order from them every time we're in town!
google avatar

Liz V.

Yelp
We had a fantastic dinner at The Blue Hen! It's upscale, clean, modern and classy and we were a bit apprehensive about bringing our toddler to dine with us. Luckily the restaurant was not crowded for the off-season and the waitress was wonderful considering our little monster was not. The food was excellent. I had the fish which was perfectly cooked with a crispy skin and delectable sauce and side. The seafood chowder was tasty and the side of Mac and cheese and the burger was on point. I would definitely recommend this place as a date spot or place to grab drinks and meals with friends.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from Blue Hen on a recent rainy Sunday and were very happy with our decision. We were able to pick up our food approximately 40 min after ordering as promised. We ordered to-go cocktails --- is it me or does a cocktail lose some charm when served in a plastic cup with a lid? Regardless, we both enjoyed the actual drinks. I would recommend the Drammer Time, a tequila cocktail with a good balance of spice and citrus. For our appetizer, we got the roasted carrots served with halloumi and greek yogurt, which were tasty, but not mind-blowing. The buttermilk biscuits, however, are phenomenal (and equally delicious as leftovers added to our breakfasts the next day). For our entree, we split the fried chicken based on Yelp reviews suggesting the portion size was more than adequate for two --- and you were right. That being said, I could have happily eaten my own portion of the chicken. It is incredible! The batter was so light but still crispy, and the chicken was perfectly tender and juicy. I rarely eat meat anymore, and I even more rarely opt for fried chicken, but I would order this again and again from Blue Hen. The macaroni and cheese and collard green sides were yummy as well, but we devoured the chicken and wound up having leftover sides after filling up on apps. We would have loved to have eaten at the restaurant, but their limited outdoor seating is all uncovered and we have not been eating indoors during the COVID pandemic. That being said, if you're comfortable eating inside, they were seating socially distanced tables and all staff were masked. There is also a firepit in the outdoor seating area for chillier fall evenings.

Yelp
My reading is solely based on our bar experience at The Blue Hen- not the food. Was staying at the hotel and and dropped by the bar on a Saturday night. It was loud and pretty packed. We were lucky to get a spot at the bar. We had already eaten dinner elsewhere so we just got an order of biscuits which were really good and different drinks. My husband had the best old-fashioned he's ever had there! I enjoyed my bourbon slush drink. Our bartender was awesome and she let me sample both slushes so I can figure out which one I wanted.
google avatar

Ruth M.

Yelp
We have been staying at the Avenue and had never been to the Blue Hen and it is right in the hotel opens at 4:00pm nice impressive menu, we don't normally in when they open we will hav eaten and before we get back. But this time made plans to check it out. Nice inside kind of dark most of the people were eating outside on the patio. We didn't order food we had drinks in the bar area, good drinks, next will dine in.
google avatar

Gloria A.

Yelp
Everything was excellent. The outdoor seating with the gas heating. The fried chicken platter (which I never order fried chicken but I took a chance since we are in the south) was so JUICY and properly salted/ seasoned on inside. The skin perfectly crisped away from the moist meat. The portion is huge-- and we warming it in a toaster oven was still good and juicy! I'm not a fan of mac & cheese but it came with it and it was very good. The raw oysters from Brunswick Canada, only option on the menu was an excellent choice by them. My husband really liked his crabcakes. I am not a fan of crabcakes but I took several tasty bites of his. And the humongous pan biscuits, three pieces, crispy and buttery all around. They serve it in the individual cast iron pan. The staff were very attentive even though we were the only ones outside on a cool evening.

Foodie R.

Yelp
Solid, nice date night dinner. Cool fire pit outside to have a drink. Interesting menu. Had a lovely time but likely won't return as so many restaurants to try in the area.

Yelp
Charming, unique, delicious and amazing food/atmosphere. We ate here last night. The oysters were amazing, clean, plummy and fresh. The chef came from chicago. She went there for art school and came back to Delaware to take this restaurant to the next level and I can tell she accomplished just that. We like the fact that you can just turn and see her working on the kitchen. Oh oh oh , let's not forget the olive oil cake. The combination of flavors were an explosion of sweetness and balanced flavors . Highly recommend it

Heather D.

Yelp
Checked in at 6:37, party of 4, 45 minute wait. That was amazing. Until 45 minutes passed and nothing. Visited the hostess stand and was assured that once a lingering party left we were next. We were seated at 7:45. Server arrived quickly, poured us some water unknowingly spilling water on the center of the table on the bottle list. My daughter cleaned up and we ordered. The wrong appetizer was brought to the table but that was quickly rectified. After we finished appetizers the wait began and it became obvious to me that the server was spending more and more time at tables with larger parties that were ordering bottles of wine. Other tables that ordered after us were getting their meals, one after the next. At one point the server brought us refills on the soft beverages. Then the server disappeared again. Over 30 minutes had passed from when we finished the appetizers. So I finally asked our server what the issue was. Within a few minutes the meal came. Dishes from the appetizer course were still on the table and we had to ask to have them cleared to make room to eat comfortably. Several of the challenges I encountered this evening could have been avoided with an explanation. At 45 minutes when the table wasn't ready, just call me and explain I get it. People are on vacation they are lingering and it isn't a huge space. I get it. But, that never happened until I took the initiative. If the kitchen or the service staff is short bc everyone is having staffing shortages - again I get it. This is a problem everywhere. Just set expectations. Sadly the service is not at the same level as the food that is getting executed from that kitchen. The lobster toast and biscuits are consistent year after year. The crab cake is worth every penny bc it is fat with crab not filler and is pan fried gently. The scallops were tender and corn was so sweet. The crab spaghetti is always yummy, but the tomatoes were more campari in size as compared to the grape tomatoes last year. The kitchen staff bangs out solid plates of food that celebrates the region. And honestly, I wouldn't have even placed this review on Yelp, but there was no contact section on the restaurants website. I've eaten here every Summer since it opened. I came from the Lobster Toast and Fried Chicken (have mercy). And we kept coming back. But the service this year was way below where it should have been. I finally left at 9:16 pm. That is longer than I had expected to spend and it is also not good for the restaurant to have customers occupying a table for so long. What ever the challenge is we look forward to seeing you resolve it.

Yelp
This is a review based on 2 visits earlier this summer. The first time we were staying at hotel and I wandered into bar for a drink as my wife was dressing for a party. Sat at crowded bar as happy hour was ending and I ordered one their specialties, a mint julep. The bartender made it lovingly using fresh mint and great bourbon. He was cheerful, informative and delightful. The julep was the best I have ever had! Second visit was 3 weeks later with my wife. We showed up around 6 and found 2 stools at the bar and my wife wanted the mint julep I had raved over. Different bartender that did not know how to make a drink. It was overly sweet, lacking enough bourbon and really poorly presented. She was as surly as the first bartender was delightful. My wife asked her to remake the undrinkable drink and we got a straight course of eye rolling the rest of the time there. We ordered the seafood platter for 2 app and it was very good but skimpy. The salmon tartare and shrimp ceviche were great but barely enough for 2 bites. Hard to share that! The dish was 40-50 $$ and while good was underwhelming. The music in the bar was obnoxiously loud to the point a conversation was hard to have. They are on a street with some great restaurants and they need to do a better job.

Yelp
Such a great experience at The Blue Hen! The staff is friendly and attentive. The food was amazing! I ordered the crab spaghetti and it exceeded my expectations, it was so delicious! My husband order the fried chicken and it was one of the tastiest fried chicken we have ever had. The food was so good we ate here again the next night! Also, the restaurant was kid friendly and both of my kids gobbled up their meals. If we ever come back to Rehoboth, we will for sure eat here again!

Yelp
I would have rated higher, 5 stars, if it wasn't for the negative. To start with the positives: Shorter wait time Oysters and Lobster were amazing Lobster toast was out of this world Great service overall Now the negative: As my main I ordered the crab cakes for $36. The crab cakes were a total miss for many reasons. The first is that it was under seasoned and little sauce. If there was a little more sauce it would have been great it terms of season. The second reason is why this is only 3 stars, there were large chunks of shells in the crab cakes. These shells were sharp and if I hadn't bitten into a few of them and noticed they were shells. My throat would been scratched up and bleeding. In a restaurant like this, and in most restaurants in general, I would expect little to no shell in the cakes. It is unacceptable to have it, luckily it was my last bite that I had the big piece, but still there was too much shell in the cakes. It was not just mine, it was my cousins as well, although not as big, thank goodness. Overall I will come back here but I will not be ordering crab cakes here again. Too expensive for quality served.

Yelp
Here was the plan. Happy hour early for a frose (iced rose), and two appetizers. We shared chicken wings, and a soft shell crab slider. The drink was really nice, and the apps. were more for her than me. I'd call them just OK. Then a nice walk and back a few hours later for dinner. Our server divided both the salad and entree without our asking. Kudos to her. The salad was chopped greens with assorted goodies. I scanned the ingredients and missed the giardaniera which provided quite a kick. Unusual in a salad, but it worked. Next came the tuna crudo. 6 small strips of tuna over coconut milk, finger lime, passion fruit, pickled chilis, and herb oil. This was the perfect choice, because we were more about exotic tastes than we were about feeding a monstrous appetite. You're not going to find this combo anywhere else, and it's your loss if you skip it. Our shared entree was the cornmeal crusted cod. Super fresh fish is not easy to come by on a Monday. But this was fresh. Crunch from the cornmeal. Tasso ham gravy for a little salty depth, and a bed of heirloom grits for contrast. Three great choices that put The Blue Hen upfront when dining in Rehoboth.
