16 Best Places for Live Music in Nashville | Condé Nast Traveler

"Tucked in the back of Jack White’s Third Man Records empire, this minimalist jazz club feels exactly like what you’d expect of someone cool and quirky and connected opening their private listening room to you. Maybe because that’s what happened here: the space used to only be available for private events, but is now open to the public Thursdays through Saturdays. Like the White Stripes musician himself, the venue’s reputation is for serious musical chops, with some offbeat touches (like the faux elephant head mounted on the wall). Seats at tables are adequate and comfortable on a regular night and can be reserved in advance for large parties. On a regular night, you’ll have good sight lines and room to eat and drink at the table. During some shows, the venue is standing-room-only, and it can be very crowded if the act is a popular one." - Kristin Luna,Margaret Littman

Google
First show at this venue, it was worth it. Capacity is right around 200 people, making this an intimate venue to see a show but well worth it. The acrostics are amazing and the entire staff was top notch. Can't wait until our next show.

We were in town for the weekend and in the area, so we walked to The Blue Room on a Saturday night. It started pouring down rain halfway through the trip but we kept walking anyway. We got to The Blue Room, nestled right nezt to Third Man, and yanked on the giant door. Nothing. We dipped under the roof at Third Man and checked the website. Oh, they don't open until 7 and it's 6:50. No biggie, let's wait here. So we stood in the cold, surrounded by rain, waiting for 7 to roll around. Let's give them another few minutes just in case. 7:05...go to the door...tug tug, no movement. So what gives? We dip back under the roof. Let's check Facebook and Instagram...maybe they're not open today for some reason. Nothing to be seen. Okay well maybe this isn't the entrance? We walk around the block, in the rain, past multiple sketchy individuals, and find nothing else. Now it's 7:20. I call the number on site. It rings, rings, rings, and then disconnects. We go back, pull on the door again. Nothing. So eventually we just got an Uber back to the hotel. I'm sure The Blue Room is neat by if you're supposed to be open then you should be open. I'm not trying to go ever again. EDIT: Thank you for the response but what you've said here directly contradicts your website, which literally states: "When are you open? Our normal business hours are 7pm - 12am Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights." And then continues to talk about how it USED to be ONLY a venue but is, quote, "now open to the public every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening."

I attended a concert here. It’s a very fun venue with some wild artwork like a life size elephant head on the wall and a sink on the ceiling in the bathroom! The entrance is fun too because it feels like you’re walking down a hallway into a hidden world! Also, maybe I got lucky but I arrived 10 minutes before the official concert start time of 8pm and was able to find street parking very close for $8 for 3 hours.

Such a cool venue! I normally don’t like tequila, but i got the “uncle buck” drink and really enjoyed it. The flavors all worked really well together, definitely recommend it. Great artists and a great time.

Google
The girl on the security gate, easily let me enter without checking my id, so I felt other people might also have entered similarly, which makes it a little unsafe. The space though was awesome, we didn’t go there for any band show, but for the prateek kuhad concert! Which was amazing! Washrooms were clean and it was a small nice space with blue lights.

Google
I cannot find the words to express how much this venue and the record store attached to it means to me and the city of Nashville as a whole.. I have seen the most magnificent music from artists that I have never heard about ever. I trust that if I randomly show up at the blue room, it's going to be amazing. I don't know what kind of magic they use to find new independent artists, but I am always blown away. I am so appreciative of Third Man Records and the Blue Room, as well as everyone that works for them, for providing solid music, awesome selection of vinyl, and straight vibes. The sound is fantastic, it never gets overly packed, they don't screw you over drink prices... I don't know. I could go on about this for days. Basically, just go and experience it for yourself.

Google
Woowee!! I highly recommend going to a show here. It’s obvious that this space was made by an artist and as an entertainer myself I can say I was very well treated here! It’s awesome and you can shop at third man records before you go to the show. Great sound and a great bar.

Google
Unique and intimate space for live music. Clean, plenty of amenities, well-stocked bar, professional staff. If you're looking for a chill vibe and interesting live music, check it out.

Yelp
Anything Jack white touches turns to blue. Best flex of a spot to take someone who's never been here to see their reaction to the Wonka vibes it delightfully gives you throughout the entire experience. This spot has different things going on throughout the month, check their event calendar as it constantly updates. Loads of free events here. Delicious drinks and awesome staff. 10/10! Best of Nashville.

Yelp
First time to finally check out The Blue Room (for the Soccer Mommy show on 6/9/24) but I'll be back for a few other shows this summer. It's a really great place to see a show. It's a small room, so if the show is sold out like the one I attended is it will get crowded but not oppressively so--I was never pushed out of my space or shifted around and there were always bubbles of extra space to move around as needed. The sound in here is fantastic and the lighting is perfect. Drinks are reasonable and beer is cheap--just don't expect to get one very quickly from the indoor bar as you're going to be in line for a bit. Really no major complaints. Parking is iffy and the neighborhood can get a little unpredictable after dark so if at all possible you may want to take and Uber or catch a ride instead of parking in the area if you have the option.

Yelp
Accidentally found this super cool venue when we went to the record store next door. Came to watch a free show, and the venue is really cool! It's very blue, has a bar, not very many seats - 5 armchairs, one loveseat, and one couch (that 3-4 people can probably comfortably fit on). Calendar has a bunch of events, not just music! Wish I found this spot sooner, definitely recommend it!

Yelp
This is a fairly small venue with an amazing laid back vibe and blue lighting throughout (as the name suggests). The staff were super friendly and helpful with any questions we had, and the drinks were fairly priced for a concert venue. Will definitely come back here for more concerts!

Yelp
I think it is awesome that Third Man Records turned this into a public bar/venue. Great, intimate spot for original and local live music in Nashville. Plus the show tickets were very cheap in my opinion. I'm a long time JWIII and Third Man fan and I live in IL, but my boyfriend and I just happened to be in Nashville for the Lola Kirke/Jenny Lewis show. I was so stoked to be here where my favorite musicians have played and done countless projects over the years. Great ambiance, friendly employees, and good drinks. Only downside of Third Man/Blue Room is the parking situation and it's kind of a rough neighborhood. Arrive early before a show to get close parking!

Yelp
If you like personal space this is not the venue for you. As more people arrive they will push for standing area and not concern themselves with others. Acoustics are great, pricing good, atmosphere reasonable and parking sketchy.

Yelp
We love live music when we travel but Broadway in Nashville can be a lot of stimulation for more than one night. We found out about this place when we were record shopping next door at Third Man Records and were excited to see it was Jazz night. There was a trippy Organ trio called Greasy Neal that was perfectly weird for our taste. It was not at all crowded, good drinks and felt almost like it was made for us. I cant wait for my next Nashville visit to see what Blue Room is offering.
